Saw this in the Android Forums...thought it was somewhat weird too.
http://sprint.us/sites/4g/home/samsung-epic.php
Go to the link, says Epic has Android 2.2 OS.
I first saw it here: http://androidforums.com/samsung-ep...ow-adversting-epic-4g-runs-android-2-2-a.html.
What do you make of this?
I guess maybe it is in the works as we know, so go ahead and post it. Maybe the new epics do have it, just not released to the public.

You would think they would update the older phones the same time they are updating new phones. Maybe even update older phones first...Not sure what the normal protocol is for that. Just thought it was weird they were advertising it when we don't even have it yet.
Why sprint.us and not sprint.com :/

Makes me wonder why soemone would use their very first post on this forum to hype a rumor.
This speculation is just like it was for the Hero getting 2.1. Although my hero had 2.2 on it when I switched to epic this last Friday.
Hmm the main Sprint site still shows 2.1 for the Epic 4G
This site says all US Galaxy S phones are getting Froyo at 8:00pm tonight...
And now their wait is over as Samsung has declared that at 8 PM tonight, samsungmobile.com would offer the download of the upgrade from Android 2.1 to Android 2.2 to all the users that are compatible with all the handsets in the Galaxy S range.

Ok... what time zone 8 PM?
What ever the case the wait is almost over.
If you go to the Samsung epic 4g q&a site you'll see that they say that the updates will start in china, japan, asia, africa and then the US (last like always) for the entier Galaxy S family, and that they will try to get US before the end of the year....
So the site that said 8pm... was for some place else....
Sent from my SPH-D700
I remember when I first joined here and people were skeptical about Froyo ever being officially released. I figured it would eventually get ported at least so I decided to stick with it. Point being is that even if it comes early next year I'm just happy that we're getting it at all. I'm thinking November 29th but I'm not holding my breath.

Hi. I have question. Somebady buy from that shop phone4ultd.com ?
With delivery will cost me 440$. It's true or fake?
car phone warehouse do it for £440 on o2 but is a unlocked phone got my phone from there ,you do have to ask them to look up the deal
hi all,i cheked the site and its too good to be true rite?? at 400 dollars its less than half the price of what other outlets are selling...is this for real??
I'd guess that the first fake THDs from China will arrive soon. Stay away or burn.

so its a "legit" company limited and registered in the uk
however, its odd that for a UK company all their prices are in dollars and not very professional to have a company email address as [email protected] (havent they ever heard of email redirection?) or a company phone number as : +44 795-175-0314 (UK mobile number)
but if it is real and so are the fones, i might order 10 at $4400 and sell then on ebay at £400 each thus making myself a tidy £1000 profit for doing squat
buyer beware i feel
440.00 USD = 303.426 GBP delivered, a HUGE £140 cheaper than a massive company like CPW. something dont smell right
Wouldnt touch it with a barge pole.....
Hi Guys,
I am in the UK & yes we have a long established co' called phones4u, with an 0800 freephone no' (the tv adverts are pants though<S>), but....
They are www.phones4u.CO.UK, not .COM
After having a shuftie, this is definately a spoof site, so beware.
Cheers, Shane
In carphonewarehouse in UK I might buy HTC TOUCH HD for 440 pounds?
that is the phones4u web site and it is .co.uk and not .com just try google and see but ,still looks to good to be true at that price

i would suggest saying it is a spoof site is possibly libellous as it is a genuine 'companies house' registered company, although i agree the name is so close as to have people stumble across it by mistake if looking for the larger more advertised company
How does phones4ultd.com suddenly become phones4u.co.uk?
Are people really that gullible?
this is pure ****, I tried contact "them" if they really exist. And I got nothing, no mail no phone
and from the looking of the site you can directly tell that
stay away ^_^

You misunderstand - the company that's been found at companies house is PHONES4U, a large and reputable retailer here in the UK. Their website is www.phones4u.co.uk
The "company" referred to by the OP is www.phone4ultd.com - a quick glance at that site confirms it's absolutely no relation to Phones4u, and is simply trying to trade on exactly this kind of confusion. "Phone4ultd" is NOT companies house registered and doesn't appear to be UK based at all - given the unlikely pricing and attempt to confuse, I'm quite comfortable calling it out as a scam site, and if "Phone4ultd"'s solicitors want to get in contact over my libel I'll look forward to hearing from them!
EDIT: just realised that at www.phone4ultd.com/info.HTML they're actually quoting Phones4u's companies house registration - make no mistake, this is a SCAM. For genuine info on the real Phones4u (including that companies house registration number again) see www.phones4u.co.uk/info/info_home.asp

Is that O2 pay as you go? I have an O2 simplicity contract that I don't want to change (600mins, 1000txts and unlimited internet for £20pm) and want to buy a Touch HD - and sell my Touch Diamond on eBay.
£440 for a brand new unlocked one sounds very good considering most places are £500+, and the cheapest eBay unlocked / unbranded is about £485

Subject: Developers phone
I was wondering when you guys will be offering the nexus one for purchase for developers? I was just about to order two of these when you guys ran out/stopped selling.I am a developer and really want this phone,I noticed you said that you will be making them available to devs i was just wondering when.
This is my first post so i had to remove the links but this reply is 100% real!
?huh?
10char
So since the Nexus Ones will now be for "developers" will they have the special bootloader that can be re-Locked?
Just wondering
I wonder how much they're going to be charging, or if they'll sell accessories too!
I just hope they can drop the price tag a little bit. Even the later phones just came out are cheaper than N1.
Also, fix the wifi sleep bug. That's all what I want to ask for.
well... I bought a developer license and what they are selling this very moment is the "Android Developer Phone 2" which runs Android 1.6 has a 500something mhz cpu and like a 3.x" screen. Not very exciting.
I hope the august thing isn't this phone... on the other hand.. its cheaper and completely carrier independent.
Frankly, I'd see the Dev 3 will be HTC Vanguard, which has advanced 3G (3.75G) and slide-out keyboard.
If nothing else, I'd like to buy another Nexus One to get a special developer edition back cover.

Here has been my experience from Expansys. Please read from the bottom up.
Just a complete lack of customer service. Do you agree?
__________________________________________________________
Ok, well this seems to be a complete lost cause. I have no idea why you don’t want to serve a legitimate customer who is trying to give you money, but because of your absolute lack of service & complete disregard for a customer, I will not only be cancelling my order with you, but will go out of my way to inform as many other people by posting these emails on as many websites, blogs, technology forums & social networks as I possibly can to inform other potential clientele of your grossly poor services.
Thanks for completely wasting my time,

OK, this is just insane. I specifically asked you if & what form of proof of ID you need to continue processing my order. From that, your UK Branch totally ignores me and from the AUSTRALIAN branch, I receive a completely blank email?
I checked my order status through my Expansys online account 15 minutes ago which states that you are currently awaiting stock to complete my order; but on the MAIN PAGE OF YOUR SITE, it states that the SAMSUNG GALAXY S II is IN STOCK with +100QTY available.
This is absolutely appalling customer service, and I think you’d also agree.
I’m going to go out on a whim now and send you attachments of what was ‘sort of’ asked of me in a previous email: “Have you sent the information that we require, such as proof of address and proof of ID? I can’t see any on your order?”. If I receive no reply to this email; I am cancelling my order and will place an order through HANDTEC.CO.UK.

Hello EXPANSYS staff,
For my order: 14KN0121B85C, the status says: AWAITING FURTHER INFO – Followed by
“You are required to send further information before this order can be processed. The request for further information has been sent to you by email. If you have not received an email please contact us.This order is on hold until the information is received. We apologise for any inconvenience this causes.”
I have yet to receive any other email other then my Pre-Order Confirmation. I don’t wish to hold up my order.
Kind regards,
Chris Maier
That's terrible. If you had to order from them, you could have tried canceling and redoing your order since they are now in stock and no longer a preorder. But, since you don't have to, glad you canceled and are taking your money elsewhere.
Anyways, they need to do a better job with their customer service, the dates between your first few emails were more than long enough to be replied to.
That being said, I don't know if Handtec is the best choice since they don't even show up as in stock yet and some users are getting tracking numbers while others are not. But I don't know if anyone else is having better service.
Anyways, thanks, I'll probably stay clear of Expansys if I ever have to do something like this.
damn that sucks for you, i went through clove from the start they responded the next working day everytime. soemtimes even same day. hadntec was similar too but clove was better at keeping me upto date which is why i went with them instead. these guys seem to really suck
Did they get any email from you? Seems like maybe your email bounced every time.....
OP: not to be nit picking, but your first email to them simply stated a fact ("I have yet to receive any other email other then my Pre-Order Confirmation. I don’t wish to hold up my order."), your second email reminded them that you had stated a fact ("This is the 2nd time I have send this email requesting information;"), and only your third email actually had an explicit question to them ("DO I NEED TO SEND YOU MORE INFORMATION SO I CAN GET MY ORDER SHIPPED?!"), and they promptly answered this one
Then a few emails later you volunteer info to them (drivers license, credit card, address) - identity theft is not wide spread in your area? In the USA a crook can take out a small house loan in your name with this info
Then you receive no response to that from them, and abruptly email them asking to cancel the order? How much time had passed since you sent them the attachments with the info?
You sure there was nothing in the spam folder of your mail client? You have a little kid who might have hit some buttons and deleted a couple emails?
My point is you did not show enough compelling evidence to 100% prove they are bad and remove any doubt. I am not saying they are good. I actually think they are bad, just asking for cleanness.
^ but he wasted 5-6 days.
If they had responded the first time he wrote, he could have submitted the documents on 27th itself and he would have his set flying to him by now. I guess thats his main issue and its completely justified considering they had 2 working days before long holiday to respond.
I too have had problems contacting them by email to cancel an order in the past (sent 3 emails over 4 days without reply), I have found it it's much easier to harass them by phone. Also their stock information system highly confusing and potentially misleading.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
zakeen: Yes, I received an email from the UK Branch & an empty email from the Australian Branch.
kreoXDA: Since I pre-ordered on the 19 April, my order status said: AWAITING FURTHER INFO etc. I have ordered many times from overseas and I was expecting them to ask for proof of ID and a copy of a CC statement or utility bill; this is quite normal. I did not receive anything from them asking for this information and emailed them to ask if they needed more information, or to see if the order status was just automated while they were waiting for stock. I am not worried of Identity theft; I know how to cover documents. I think 99% of people would believe that I most definitely have proven that I am in the right here.
Funkym0nkey: Totally agree. This is a HUGE company and someone SHOULD have at least responded.
dimaru: I am in Australia. I would call them if call rates weren't through the roof for international calls and time differences weren't so great. Email is just far better economically. We're all trying to save money these days.
Well I am sorry it was so bad. Shady grey resellers do not provide top notch service. Thanks for sharing your experience.

That was nice of her, I guess.
I thought I would share my experience with Sony Ericsson and SBE Limited as I have no phone now it seams.
21 June - Called Sony Ericsson
Sony Ericsson Xperia Team (08705 237 237) recommended to send the phone to SBE Limited there repair contractor in the UK.
21 June - Sent Xperia Play through Royal Mail Special Delivery
22 June - SBE Limited received my phone
Royal Mail website “Your item with reference ZW85******** was delivered from our ASHFORD Delivery Office on 22/06/11 .”
28 June - I began to get concerned so I emailed SBE Limited ([email protected]) at 12:01 with the following
“I have recently sent a Sony Ericsson Xperia Play and was received by
your office on 22/06/11, I was hoping to know what my phones status is
as I sent it for repair a week ago and haven't received any
correspondence from yourselfs.
My Details are:
*******
Please email me back what the status of my phone is in and how much
the repair will be.”
29 June - I received the following email from SBE Limited at 12:04
“Hello *******,
We presently do not have a record of receiving your handset in our database.
Could you provide the IMEI of posting reference to assist in tracking your
handset?
Best Regards,
Customer Services
SBE*Ltd.”
30 June - I replied with the following at 12:07
“The Sony Ericsson Xperia Play IMEI number is 35************ and its
Serial Number is C*******.”
30 June - Reply from SBE Limited at 12:09
“Hello *****,
We have now located your handset in our database and will be forwarding a
quote for the repair shortly.
Best Regards,
Customer Services
SBE*Ltd.”
4 July - I emailed SBE Limited at 12:12
“May I ask if there is a update on the status on my phone”
4 July - SBE Limited replied and also send to a CC to ([email protected]) at 16:19
“Hello ******,
Please see attached quote for the repair of your handset. Please call on
the number below quoting job reference 1534155-001 to advise how you wish to
proceed.
Best Regards,
Customer Services
SBE*Ltd.”
5 July - I rang SBE Limited at 10:21 I paid for the phone to be repaired being told it should be in my hands by the end of the week.
14 July - Still no phone arrived so I contacted SBE Limited at approx 14:00 and was told that my phone has been sent and should be at the sorting office to pick up, I inquired to why I had been giving no delivery notice I was giving no response. I did manage to get a tracking number “CZ*******”.
15 July - Went along to Royal Mail Sorting Office North ***** and was told there was no such delivery on the system. And that SBE Limited have not sent the package.
15 July - Checking on the Royal Mail Tracking Site it quotes as of 12:26
“Recorded Signed For™ items are only tracked after the item has been delivered. Depending on whether the item was sent first or second class, this may be a few days after posting. Please try again later.
Information on your item is not yet available online.”
I request this is resolved immediate as I feel that this has gone one far enough so I am posting this to Sony Ericsson complaints (http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/com...email/miscellaneous?cc=gb&lc=en#contact_phone), Sony Ericsson’s Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/SonyEricssonUK?sk=wall), XDA Developers Forum (http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1091) and SBE Limited email ([email protected]). The reason for posting out like this is this is a disgrace that Sony uses this company, I have PlayStations, Sony Bluetooth headphones and have bought numbers of them and have only praise for Sony’s service but not this time. And as my phone bill is though the roof as I have been phoning these numbers and can’t afford to phone anyone anymore. Please resolve this matter quickly.
And here I was expecting a little sympathy.

Shouldn't we all wait until we actually get an Invite before contributing to this thread? Nobody has an invite yet, so reporting that you don't have one doesn't really add any information. When they start arriving, then it'll be interesting to see where they come from and when people signed up. Until then, not so much.
Definitely a good point @baudi11. But I already posted so no take backsies!! :highfive:

It'll be interesting to know how long after asking for an invite how long it actually takes to receive the invite. When you receive your invite you can then come back and update your post. That way people who come along later will have an idea of how long it takes to receive an invite after asking. Also, they'll know what the activation process is like.

All of which can be accomplished by simply waiting until you actually get an invite...

Why are you trying to dictate when others comment? We're all free to do so when ever we'd like.

I don't know about this service. It's going to be like pre paid. When I was on pre paid it sucked. You will not get the speeds sprint or T mobile customers get. I am on att which is faster than sprint or T mobile. So I am staying where I am at.
1. April 23 at 11PM
2. Tysons Corner, VA
3. Still waiting
Please respect the OP and post only the info that is asked for so we can keep the thread from going off topic. Possibly use OP's other thread for questions about project Fi. Thanks guys!
