Battery Drain Problem and finally solved - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hi all,
Recently I tried to install many versions of Andriod in my HD2, with lots of combination on Andriod Image, WM Rom, Kernel & Radio, but I still can't achieve a good battery performance, even if I install all tools like setCPU, app killers, backlight app etc ..but all still can't help ... my HD2 still drain the battery on average 30-32mA... no matter how i did but still unable to be 5-7 mA as mentioned by many other HD2 users..
Eventually, I suspected that the problem may be due to the HD2 hardware itself but not any other softwares that I installed, and I tried to change my SD card from a 2GB one to a 1GB kingston card, and now, I can successfully achieve 5-7mA or even 4mA at hibernate mode
Hope this can help other users who can't solve the battery drain problem. Besides the Rom, Radio etc, I realized that SD card could be one of the root cause!

massive batterie drains

hi there,
I got a nasty little problem that makes my mobile immobile.
in one night my batterie goes from full to empty. but this is only when I use custom roms.
stock rom if working nice with batterie, only really slow.
tried artemis v22 and v23 and clean ex dse v15 all with this problem.
tried a lot of different radios, other versions of hspl. all doesn't make any different.
problem its also there if I don't install any thing other than default stuff what is cooked in rom.
the phone also stays quit warm at the bottom half off the phone.
what can I do to make this drain stop?
how can I find out what is causing the drain?
thanks in advance,
hellstorm666
Try the phone without the microsd and see if it still drains.
If so, the microsd might have a faulty file system and might need a reformat.
removing the sd card did the trick.
now what to do to get the sd working without batterie drain?
change your sd card, it's defective.
can't be.with stock rom there is no batterie drain.

With the stock rom, I doubt there are as many apps that access the SD card ...
Apps that you install to the SD card make a diff too , if it is an app that runs alot , it will increase battery drain ...
But for you it might not be that, but it is not impossible ....
Format your card using the phone's utility and see if this helps. If you bought your card from ebay then it might be time to go to a proper seller and pay for what you get.

U mean;
use "custom roms" => battery consume fast but program run fast.
use "stock rom" => battery consume normal but program run slow.
I'm not expert in phone...but I know just like u over clock the PC ...
=>if u over clock the PC ..it run fast, CPU hotter, consume more electric ... look like the custom rom u using might consist of over clocking the phone... processor ..
=>am I right ...

it is a bright idea, but no. I use artemis and clean ex. but now with sd removed batterie is normal.
sd was bought at a proper shop and did a format with the phone.
now will try a format with pc to default settings as it was before.
so I formatted the sd card. no success, still massive batterie drain.
now using a second sd card too see if it makes any difference
well nice is this. other sd card is coding massive drain also.
so again a fault in the phone.
Hey I had a diamond before and now have HD2... and I tried quite a few roms. To me, I think it really depends on the settings of most of the main applications. Anyway, just recently i was a bit annoyed too that the Leo battery wasnt lasting at least a couple of days.
and I can certainly advise this:
I set a schedulled on checking my outlook and live (msn) emails, so that from midnight to 8am, there are not "heartbeats" and this has saved me a lot of battery during night, but still with some drain.
This was due to the fact that i live in a crappy coverage area, so my signal keeps changing from G to H and vice versa all the time, making me also unreachable at these times. I didnt want to change it to G only, because, of course, H is much faster than E(dge). But now, I have BandSwitcher (2.80 i think) and I can easily change from GSM to UMTS with two taps on my Leo, in case i want to use fast internet.
Last night, battery was 43 before going to sleep, and this morning to my surprise, its was still 43!!! BandSwitcher is my new favourite app. A real battery saver.

[Q] best WM build for android

ive been playing around with android a lot recently, but i seem to be getting the same or similar errors with every build. i think the problem comes down to an unformatted memory card. i want to start with a fresh phone and memroy card.
my question is which WM build is best for android? i would be using android as my main os but windows mobile would serve as a'backup' os incase android dies on me. i already have a build of android i want to use so just need some advice on which WM build to use. once i have done that i can format the memory card and re-install android.
not sure if it matters, but i would be using a boot loader to get into android. i have radio 2.15.

I'll try to answer the question by sharing my own experience:
I have T-Mobile US HD2 model and tried several builds under "stock" ROM and Radio 2.08 and most of them worked with really bad battery life. Anyhow, I finally decided to move on with installing Hard SPL 2.08 so I can flash custom ROMs into my device. After that following happened:
1. I tried ChuckyDroid ROM lite - barely occupied any space after boot in WinMo - but did not affect Android and how it worked AT ALL! I had shubcraft 2.0 at the moment;
2. Finally after all the chasing I wanted to have fully functional WinMo Rom and fully functional Android build and here is my setup:
Energy 2.5 GTX WinMo ROM based on 3.14 latest TMOUS Update (with the start button on the top);
Android HyperDroid 1.7 with mychprima's kernel (240 lcd density);
Radio is 2.15.50.xx
Re-formatted 16GB stock SD Card I got with my HD2
Results:
Super-smooth Android operation at all times;
Without SetCPU installed (since kernel is already OCd and UVd) my battery life has been AWESOME! I get constant 3-6mA battery stand-by and that alone gives me really good battery life. I am getting one day and few hours after 1.5hr re-charging - that I did not beat with anything I tried on my hd2 before this setup. I have reseted phone last time several weeks ago and not a single force close message so far (to knock on wood hihi) ... No reason to lie - but if you have some time it may be good combo to try our. BTW I do not offer any guarantees on what you do with your phone lol - that's my "fine print" lol

thanks for that, Energy ROMs seem to come up a lot, and as development for my current WM build (CleanEx DSE 6.1) seems to have stopped, il give that a go. im currently getting a lot of force close messages revolving around the sync features. also my HTC calender doesnt work and contact images do not display (I assume because it cant sync them from facebook). im currently using MDJ FroYo Sense Revolution v.1.7 as my android build, but il try your setup. battery life has become a bit of an issue for me, but i am a 'heavy' user.
is it better to format the memory card through WM or through the PC? and should i be setting any options or just leave them at default values?

What I did was reformatting under multimedia card reader - I do not think it matters but that's what I did.
I did find some registry tweaks that manages sd card power a while ago and tried them under stock rom and radio - it did not work but I never bothered to go back since my battery is not really getting drained - lasts enough for me.
I only installed BSB Tweaks and disabled EVERYTHING and left only power-saving ON. I have no clue whether this helps at all or not but just did it as a preventive measure ... also, make sure auto-lock is DISABLED under Windows. That was one of the old issues to get un-wake-able screens ... however, so far I have not really had any problems.
Keep in mind: if you want to install many apps that you would like to test - do not do it in massive installations one after another. Some apps are known to screw up battery life and stand-by mAs. Therefore, install couple at the time - after reboot if you get low mA - then app is not draining the battery.
So far I have experienced Extended power widget to drain the battery a lot and also any type of news browsers like e-buzz, pulse, etc - they seem to constantly pull data and remain active. However, they may work for you if you have data disabled for the most part (which is probably not the case) - forgot to mention mine is on 3/3.5G at all times.
- Background Data is checked (ON);
- Auto Sync is unchecked (OFF);
- Brightness disabled under very strong light (110 lumens of my flashlight hihihi) and set on 35-40% I think - somewhere around there.
- I have three home-screens and do not feel I need more
- Weather widget, current widget and google search widget - I do not have any clocks for simple reason - when the phone is locked I can easily see the time by clicking the hardware buttons - so what's the point of the background one ...
If I remember any other tips and tricks I'll let you know.

WP7 Roms battery dead in 7 hours? Normal?

Before I get flamed I have read all the comments I can find on WP7 Rom battery tricks i.e. camera record after reboot trick, leaving 3g on etc. All Im asking is if other HD2 users are experiencing as little as 6-7 hours of battery life on WP7 roms, iv'e tried xbmod, HD20 and YukiXDA and have tried this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=978101.
Phone is hardly used, no phone calls just settings and odd text message and only wifi on when using phone.
I'm gutted because I love WP7, any advice appreciated and am not trying to "Noob" up the forums I just wanted to start a dialogue with other WP7 Rom users.
Thx
Nope, that´s not normal.
There are several possible reasons for your problem. MAGLDR, Radio ROM and SPL versions are crucial. Bad flashing can happen all the time. Plus, an "incompatible" SD card can bring a hell lot of issues, too, as well as an "old" SIM card.
Anyway - I can say that under WP7, I could not reach the same battery lifetime like under WinMo 6.5 - you can more compare to Android (NAND versions). Maximum 2 days at really low usage (week-ends), 1 day with "normal" workload. I could easily double that time under WinMo 6.5.
The HD2 likes battery like i like beer.....as much as possible in the shortest amount of time.
My phone and wifes phone (exact same phone + ROM) work for about 7 hours. ive tried many different tricks, radios, ROMs and no luck. luckily at home and work i have access to charging points, so not so much of a problem. just anooying when we go travelling!
Try latest YukiXDA Rom with 3G on. My phone lasted a day and night ( few calls, texts, games (including installing) Facebook etc. Much improved.
i'm using yuki's latest and mines dead in about 7 hours also (without even using it cos i have a company phone) but some have reported 2 days , i've got the battery tool and my current is usually around -250 sometimes higher before and after camera trick but some have reported 2ma ,, i'm sure i'm using the bat tool wrong lol . gigahurtz whats your current

[Q] Need Help for less battery back up

I have an almost new HTC HD2. I am testing various ROMs and radios to find the reason for why is my HD2 going through battery so quick.
At this point I am with HD2O v18 ROM and 2.15.50 radio. This is the best combo for me so far in terms of battery use. On standby its very less battery life .This all seems to much to me.but I like to use AmeriCanAndroid .
I also sometimes boot AmeriCanAndroid from SD card, and there it's even worse. 60mA on standby and 120-140 on everything off but auto screen brightness.
I have done so many thing to increase the battery life .Use various Auto task killer apps , keep brightness at lowest level ,removed every unnecessary app from mobile, not used GPS & GPRS . but still this all could not worked for me...
I want to use Android man ... What should i do to solve this problem ? Please help me guys
Hmmm there are many many ROMs with low battery consume...
try a rom with no SENSE - livewallpaper and some hardcore anti-virus program running on the background.
I am using a CM7 Gingerbeard ROM and my standby consume is 6-7mA,
Try A MIUI rom or a Gingerbeard one , Try updating your kernel and i remember i have readed somewhere in here that there is a script that you can run to lower your battery consume..i will find it and post it here

[Q] Need Help with extreme battery life drain

Hey Guys,
It's my first time around the block with an HD2 so bear with me. I'm haveing MAJOR drainage issues with my battery on my WP7 HD2.
I have the latest pdaimatejam 8107 loaded with the default 5.71 radio.
After a couple of weeks I decided to buy a new battery thinking that the old one was busted (I got the HD2 off Craigslist and under Android it complains about the battery not having the proper charge) After using the new battery I get about the same results.
I installed the HTC Battery Status tool and my mah drain is a crazy -100 to -200mah current! Is this normal? I read threads about people trying to get down from -40mah. I have no background tasks running on the phone (at least none that I'm aware of)
I haven't tried flashing the old 5.51 radio yet because I already loaded my 32gb card with hundreds of apps and music and videos. Is there a way to flash the old radio without having to lose everything? The camera trick does not seem to work, and changing the registry values just has it report back to 11 (not 6 for some reason) upon reboot.
Any help would be great. I think after a couple days though I'll try flashing the old radio.
Thanks in advanced!
you cant flash without loose everything....
for save apps data and setting read Tutorial v1.4 from Pdamatejam page
Kindly search forums.. this has already been addressed a lot
For Best performance and good battery life use 2.15.50.xx hard radio + 5.50 soft radio version
For best battery life use 2.12.xx.xx hard radio + 5.50 soft radio..
I did search the forums and I am aware of the different combinations of the radios and the software.
I am more concerned about whether the -200mah drain is a normal occurrence. I guess I could just report back when I have flashed the older radio, but I really don't want to do that considering the amount of stuff I already have loaded on my partition.
I apologize if it seems redundant to post something like this. I haven't seen anyone post about having a huge drain like 200mah. It just seems odd to me and I don't understand how it can get that high.
To give more information, I made sure to turn off the background tasks in WP7 that I don't need. I make sure I exit the program (by pressing back and making sure it doesn't show up as a card) and I even put the phone on airplane mode. After all of this, my drain was in the hundreds.
EDIT:
Great... I checked it just now and the drain is 400mah
mind you, nothing is even running. I just turned it on for the day and it was the first thing I checked.
