Battery Drain Problem and finally solved

Hi all,
Recently I tried to install many versions of Andriod in my HD2, with lots of combination on Andriod Image, WM Rom, Kernel & Radio, but I still can't achieve a good battery performance, even if I install all tools like setCPU, app killers, backlight app etc ..but all still can't help ... my HD2 still drain the battery on average 30-32mA... no matter how i did but still unable to be 5-7 mA as mentioned by many other HD2 users..
Eventually, I suspected that the problem may be due to the HD2 hardware itself but not any other softwares that I installed, and I tried to change my SD card from a 2GB one to a 1GB kingston card, and now, I can successfully achieve 5-7mA or even 4mA at hibernate mode
Hope this can help other users who can't solve the battery drain problem. Besides the Rom, Radio etc, I realized that SD card could be one of the root cause!

[Q] best version Android HD2

hello,
i have an htc hd2 and try to install android but all versions i had installed drop battery to 0 after 10 hours
can anybody tell me best android build for HTC HD2?

Hey Sir,
It is always different for everyone, many of these Builds are already really efficient, but here is some tips I would recommend:
- installing some auto kill aps that will kill your aps after your done with it. This really reduces battery usage
-you might want to change from 3G to 2G as that saves a lot of battery
-Reduce brightness of screen to nothing
-turn off GPS
-Turn off Auto-Sync
-Do not use Wi-fi
-Getting a Class 8 SD card i heard decreases battery life as well

my problem is battery life.
i use advanced task killer , wi-fi and bluetooth off
facebook connection only once per day

Best way to extend battery life...turn your hd2 off.
Just kidding.
I for example use non Sense builds,
and I get about a day of normal usage. If I use the wifi to browse the net it goes down to 10-12 hours. I do not use any task killers.
Edit: now using NexusHD2 build.

i am using mdj desire clean.last me for about a day of light usage.
battery problem plauge the hd2 on adroid.its all down to power management.
someone in the forum reported a build that only draws 5-8mah when on standby.which one,i cannot remember,you'll have to do your homework.
one thing's for sure,unless u get a higher capacity battery for hd2,this is the way to go.
and yes,i do know there are extended batteries selling online but they make my hd2 look like some high tech brick.
slim high cap batteries are a rare thing on hd2.

all of the different android builds are good for HD2 as for battery the trick is to start Android as fast as possible after starting your phone if you start it quick enough you will have 3-5mA in standby with almost every build as long as u have an updated kernal. Here is what I do and it works every time . I am using Energy's winmo rom it has a launch Android icon that you can place on the home screen as a quick link or free link. After you restart your phone just watch it soon as sense loads up and you see the home screen QUICKLY tap the home hard key to activate the lights then tap the LAUNCH ANDROID icon

WP7 Roms battery dead in 7 hours? Normal?

Before I get flamed I have read all the comments I can find on WP7 Rom battery tricks i.e. camera record after reboot trick, leaving 3g on etc. All Im asking is if other HD2 users are experiencing as little as 6-7 hours of battery life on WP7 roms, iv'e tried xbmod, HD20 and YukiXDA and have tried this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=978101.
Phone is hardly used, no phone calls just settings and odd text message and only wifi on when using phone.
I'm gutted because I love WP7, any advice appreciated and am not trying to "Noob" up the forums I just wanted to start a dialogue with other WP7 Rom users.

Nope, that´s not normal.
There are several possible reasons for your problem. MAGLDR, Radio ROM and SPL versions are crucial. Bad flashing can happen all the time. Plus, an "incompatible" SD card can bring a hell lot of issues, too, as well as an "old" SIM card.
Anyway - I can say that under WP7, I could not reach the same battery lifetime like under WinMo 6.5 - you can more compare to Android (NAND versions). Maximum 2 days at really low usage (week-ends), 1 day with "normal" workload. I could easily double that time under WinMo 6.5.

The HD2 likes battery like i like beer.....as much as possible in the shortest amount of time.

My phone and wifes phone (exact same phone + ROM) work for about 7 hours. ive tried many different tricks, radios, ROMs and no luck. luckily at home and work i have access to charging points, so not so much of a problem. just anooying when we go travelling!

Try latest YukiXDA Rom with 3G on. My phone lasted a day and night ( few calls, texts, games (including installing) Facebook etc. Much improved.

i'm using yuki's latest and mines dead in about 7 hours also (without even using it cos i have a company phone) but some have reported 2 days , i've got the battery tool and my current is usually around -250 sometimes higher before and after camera trick but some have reported 2ma ,, i'm sure i'm using the bat tool wrong lol . gigahurtz whats your current

[Q] Battery Drain VS Rom?

I know theres alot of topics about battery drain, and some methods have worked for some, but I am still stuck in the loop.
I'm using Back to the Future (XBmod-Yuki/7740) - and have tried The Camera Trick, 2.12 Radio, and Registry tweak (battery indicator) and all have failed, i get around 8-10 hours battey on minimal use, (Facebook app for 30min and 8/9 text msgs) [note: 3g and Data on]
and I was wondering is anyone noticing any difference on other wp7 roms? or is that rom specific?

Apparently i've got the same issue as you, I got 3 hours off it with intensive use today ( 2.12 radio, no battery fix, but it was draned down to zero )
I'm also using the back to the future rom ( But it's registered as 7720 )
My device is eastern europeian.

I'm back on winmo
i will try wp7 again (HD2O) (7740) but with different SD cards, hopefully i get a lil better life

And i'm gonna get an android SD these days to compare.

with lightly use, my HD2 WP7(Back to the future 7740) ate battery so quick. I'm trying to flash pdaimatejam's v2. Hope to get some changes.

Okay to CONFIRM
Booted pdaimatejam's v2 on lexmar 8gb (class 4 )
Radio: 2.12
and so far used 10hours
and still 54% battery remaining
3g and data is ON!
Location OFF
Live Tiles disables (have to manually update hotmail etc, no push)
Tooks round 40pics, used FB app (Biggest drain)
and few small video clips (2.mins each)
also 70-100 txts snt and recieved
im happy now

yeah i was struggling with battery life for a while too.
the camera trick seems to have helped a lot. i get almost 2 days with normal use with location, 3g and data all turned off. i am going to do the registry trick, then turn location, 3g and data back on to see if anything changes.
EDIT: the registry editor that works with mango does not allow me access to these registry files. oh well.

Android SD was still not the best I've tried. while the ROM had more battery life then yuki's back to the future, it still left me 30 minutes before I was ready to let it go.
Today on WP7 i got 3.5 hours with: the camera trick,(Switch to video and leave it running, right?) also no 3g no Wi-Fi and no Location/Bluetooth. Brightness all the way down ( snowy weather ) . Where can I find the instructions/guide to installing pdaimatejam's or is it included in the download?

Do we have to use camera trick every time we reboot HD2? How about the reset command from MDLDR menu? Do we need use it every time we replace battery?

reboot should be fine, bt i tried the HD20 rom over last few days (radio 2.15) and battery drain whilst standby is AMAZING! with 3g on over night it drained like 5-7% battery, but when using browser, whats app etc battery drains too much :S

i tried different roms but my battery standby is 54ma in airplane mode and 56 in normal (from current widget).....my battery drain is 5% per hour.....helpme pls.....

radio:2.15.50.14
battery :stock battery (1yrs old)......
help me someone ....my current widget is showing always 54ma in standby i cant reduce it ...i tried setcpu,superpower etc....but it gave only 54ma as low...
if i use my hd2 for browsing,watch videos etc it goes to 200ma ...
i thank all xda member to reveal there tips and tricks to get 4ma-8ma as shown in many screenshoots of different roms..help me ....

Hmm, I assume you've done the normal stuff like turning off all connections which you aren't using? You should be able to get 3-5mA out of the box really, and 2mA in airplane mode. If not, I don't know why it would be so high but it's quite odd.

i have HTC HD2 EU, i am using [Sense 3.5] Energy™ -.¸¸.·´¯ SensationXL/Runnymede ROM with marc1706's 2.6.35.14 Sense Kernel[v0.2.2]. I don't have that you said. it has own cpu control like "daemon". there aren't any problem.
And i also have a friend that uses this ROM with his HTC HD2 Tmobile. He also doesn't have any problem.
it is smooth and stable.
Your problem can be caused by your app, your screen(it is tooo bright) or your signal power of your simcard. And also it depends on your ROM with proper kernel.

I assume you didn't have that battery drain on WM ?? and you also let the build settle down after each boot before you check the current drain.

If you followed all these recommendations and still no improvement I would start from the scratch and only install a battery monitor and check the drain on the initial build, if your drain is a least less the 10ma start to install your apps step by step, I know it's painful..
Maybe somebody can confirm whether the sdcard might contribute into your issue, as I experienced that on sd builds with different sdcard's but you are on NAND.

Just a quick reply make sure you turn gps off when you are not using it;-) I think that could be your problem.

Seems like a wakelock. Go into spare parts or BetterBatteryStats and check your partial wake locks.
