Battery live

Hi
Yesterday arrived my dev phone 1 and I am very hapy with it bu battery level is at 20% at 18:00. Is this normal?. I dont want to switch the band to 2g. I keep gmail synched with direct push but google talk not. anyone with same prpoblem?
Thanks
yeah, the standard battery in the G1 is ****ing terrible
not a lot you can do except buying an extended battery (which is a very good idea! )
The only thing I have found to extend my battery Life has been discussed previously a few times on these boards...
1. Turn off Wifi, when not in use. (Toggle WiFi from the Market is Great)
2. Turn off GPS, when not in use. (Toggle GPS from the Market also great)
3. Turn down the screen brightness.
4. (not sure if this makes a big difference) But sometimes if I do not need my feeds or background running apps throughout the day I will restart my phone, or run through a few applications that are not pulling web cache. This way you dont have auto update feedreaders in the background running. It seems like it works for me, but that could very well be wishful thinking. Also turning of things like Twitroid update etc...
Hope that helps.

i do #4 as well, it seems to help, since i have root i just go into terminal and type su [enter] reboot [enter] and when it turns back on its usually doing bettery with the battery
as for opening programs, would advanced task manager serve the same purpose (closing apps that arnt needed and using memory, because if its using memory isnt it in some way using battery power?)
Thanks.
I am porting CommMgrPro to Android (Similar to Locale but much more powerfull). In this way I will switch to 2G, turn Wifi off, disable connections, etc, etc, etc automatically depending on my location/weekday/hour.

Dani
Hi All
I have a brand new G1 and, like you, I was suprised by the short battery life.
I also thought about selling the phone but apart from that problem I like it very much.
I noticed that the permanent 3g wireless connection was the real draining battery application.
So the solution I found now is: to disable the permanent connection. I downloaded APNdroid application from the market and I use it everytime I need to toggle connection on and off.
I also tried to leave the WIFI on and i saw that it does not consume much battery.
I did not tried with the GPS.
I am using a good tool to toggle and to fine check the battery level: Useful switchers
I can now say I am pretty satisfied with the phone.

Yes. It was the same problem there was in HTC Hermes/TyNT and TouchPro/Diamond. I created bandswitch in the past and will create two little toggles to switch 3g/2g with and without time limit....
Conditioning
Try Conditioning the Battery...
I have gps on, 2g, brightness at 50% and screen timeout at 30 secs, everything syncing and I get around 5 or 6 hours of use...just like the company says I should.
Run your battery completely dead...
Charge your phone for around 8-12 hours...
Repeat for about 6 days...
You should see improved battery life.
I have 3g, wifi, bluetooth, brightness at 50% and screen timeout at 30 secs, everything syncing with 1-2 hours of music/video with 30 SMS, about 20 mins of calls......I am now getting about 8hrs on the new ones from HTC (the 04).
Interesting Battery
Well now that I have had a week of use I have noticed that the (old) "02" batteries would last about 4-5hrs and go until 1% before turning off, with a slow count down. The (new) "04" batteries stay at a high number (about 6-7hrs) until they get to 15% and within a few mins turn-off....as I recall I saw postings of 'quick' count downs, so I wonder if you either get a slow drain down with about 4hrs of use OR about 6 hrs of use with the last 15% a very quick shutdown....I'll keep monitoring these new HTC batteries to see if it was just one of those "weekend" things or if this is the trade off...was caught off guard as I had been getting 30 mins or so when I had 15% left and the G1 would stay on until 1%..."teach an old dog new tricks".....

Bluetooth needs (very) much Energy

Hi,
I have a HTC HD2 and I was wondering why the Battery loses more than 25% over night. (100%) eight hours before.
Now I try some settings and I noticed that the cause is the bluetooth device.
It doesn't matter if it is visible or not. If it is turned on the device lost more than 25% energy within 8 hours.
If I turn bluetooth off, then it loses 5% within 8 hours which is ok for me. The 390h Standby has been measured with a clock which runs at least 5 times faster than normal clocks. Or the phone was turned off or without a SIM Card (and bluetooth was not active )
Does anybody noticed the same problems?
I have a Touch HD and a Touch Diamond 2 and both don't need so much energy and bluetooth is always on and discoverable.
Please don't try to get to far away from the topic in this discussion
I've noticed that seems to be contagious like a disease and at the end we talk about the greenhouse effect because I am to lazy to turn my bluetooth off when I don't need it...
Thank you for helping
And... Yes I've used the searchengine but with no satisfied results
Battery drain..
Actually my battery won't last a day!
During week i'm receiving a lot of mail (100+) on 4 accounts (exchanges server, hotmail and 2 accounts using imap) so I figured is was the mail..
but this weekend still noticed the battery drained very fast, and yes, my bluetooth is constantly enabled. I hate disableing it as I need it to automatically connect to my carkit.. but i'm gonna give it a shot.
Well... I am not alone with this problem.
But is that a problem with a driver or a hardware problem?
Maybe it could be fixed?!
Is there a way to NOT drain the battery and have a BT headset enabled all day?
I too am curious to know if having a BT headset always on, as the case for me with my HTC X-7501 as I need to answer calls while driving about.
My X-7501 will never last all day because (I am sure other factors pare at play) the BT is always on. Turn it off and the battery drain is lessened noticeably.
My concern is it will be the same with the HD2 (my future phone.
If anyone can shed some light on how to deal with this when one needs BT on most all the time, it would be greatly appreciated.
I cannot imagine trying to enable BT whenever a call comes in and doing so in time to answer the call.
Anyone have anything to suggest?
Thanks,
Claude H.
Yes. My HD2 with 1.66 rom, activating Bluetooth, to connect to BTheadset when needed, will deplete 30% within 7hrs....overnite with no other activity... *sad

Hi, is it possible for anyone of you with this problem to export registry? I would like to setup my phone to be discoverable even when phone is in standby. Apparently this is the situation with your phone and having a registry would definately help me.. thanks

[Q] A few questions.

First of all, I'm doing this guide (wiki[dot]cyanogenmod[dot]com/wiki/Troubleshooting#Battery_recalibration) since I recently rooted and flashed CyanogenMod 7.0.3. One of my questions was this: What's the quickest way to drain my battery? Currently, I have airplane mode off, wifi on, sync on, GPS/Navigation on, and I'm watching a Netflix movie with the screen at the brightest setting. It's been like this for maybe ten minutes and it's still at 100%. Since I'm going to sleep soon, I was hoping it would be quicker to eat up the battery.
Secondly: 'Cell Standby' keeps eating up all my battery. Seeing as how I don't have a cell coverage plan and I always use my phone with airplane mode (with wifi on), why does 'Cell Standby' use so much power?
Anyways, does anyone have any more battery saving options? I wouldn't like to turn off wifi or sync.

Have you tried different radios? also you can overclock and undervolt, those all can make a huge difference in your battery life.
Set you brightness to a low level and turn off auto brightness.
Use a darker colored background, this will normally use less lcd power.
Also GPS can eat up alot of battery.
You may want to change your sync/ push options to update less often.
Not too familiar with the cell standby eating up battery life, normally with airplane mode this should stop the phone from searching for service. also try battery calibration after you install any rom. you can find this in the market.
Hope this was somewhat helpful.
good luck!

[Q] HD2 / WP7 / battery life (Mango/Tango)

Hi,
I use ROM from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=953078
When I use Mango verion (up to 1.26 (build 8107)). Battery life is ok (up to 9mAh).
When I tried to use Tango (2.00b, 2.00b2, 200b3), battery consumption is about 40mAh with the same settings as mango ...
Whant can I set to reduce consumption?
(BT off, Location off, WiFi off, data off or email after 15minutes, 3G off, camera trick used)
Thx,
Petr
How I can check usage battery ? (mAh)
you can use HTC Battery tool from this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10762409&postcount=64
Battery current - is this what I am looking for ?
yes, barrety current ... .
if you can check it, leave phone locked few minutes, unlock it and check values.
...and better when status (current battery) is lower or higher ?
if its not on charge then the lower it is the better, if its on charge youd hope it was increasing the available charge
Hi,
please, do you have any experience or knowledge about problem from first post?
(I checked I have problem with BT HF connection too - in tango. I need pair HF again and again.
If I use Mango, connection with BT HF is very quick and I paired devices one time only)
Thx.
Petr

Your battery drain is very high. Check if you have apps running in the background. Are you using WiFi?
Check its charged, it may report high drain but if the battery is half full but showing its full then it can appear to drain twice as fast, also the backlight is the biggest draw of power which doesn't work right,, im amazed its fallen on deaf ears when brought up
Sent from my HD2 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App

I highly recommend you use this ROM instead: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1356833
I experience a much better battery life with 3G and BT on, WiFi and locations off.
Camera trick soesent work, because this rom uses radio 5.71.

Thank you.
(Mango)
BT on settings is perfect (-5mA), until I connect and disconnect to BT HF ...
If I disconnect, battery is -45mA whole time.
If I set BT to off, battery is -5mA again ...
I have bad 3G signal .. so 3G off is better than 3G on FOR ME.
(Tango up to 2.00b3)
Battery was -40mA for all time ...
extended battery 2300mAh
Is there a rom that works on an extended battery 2300mAh ? I apologize for my language
Tango 2.00b5 - drains battery like a HELL, as other roms too... I don't know those guys were talking about when saying up to 4 days bat life on this forum, but no matter what rom I use, it's less than 1 day bat life without calls, wi-fi and data! With wi-fi - less than 1 hour. Why this crap still can't be fixed since first rom was ported?? It's completely no point to use WP7 in this case.
I use last Mango ...
If I don't use phone, few days (3-5) phone "using" is possible
(BT off, wifi off, Location off, data on, 3g off (bad signal for me), email (15minutes), camera trick after reboote )
If I use phone, 1-2 days are without problem ...
I tried to use Pdaimatejam Rom, but I had problem with restarting and phone temperature ...

Same, wifi, bt off, downgraded roms, tried camera tricks, etc. even bought a new battery, still same...
HTC Tool reports anything from -881 to -5
when i used rom from hd2owner battery consumption was large. about -40.
with pdaimatejam rom everything is ok. consumption is about -5.
I have disabled everything for maximum battery life.

Marshmallow wifi battery drain bug..

After installing marshmallow to note 4 910F, I found out to much battery consumption.. It was more obvius when i left phone at night, connected with my wifi router. It had 20-30% battery consumption at 7 hours. Phone on, wifi on, rest off.
If i turn off wifi, no battery drain.. I loose 3%.
Even with 4G on, and wifi off, i loose much less!!
I tried more than 4 roms 6.01, factory erased everything, even safe mode. Always wifi drain.
In lolipop i had about 3% drain with the same.
Searching in net, i found out same problems mostly with nexus (probably because they had first of all marshmallow and they find it first..). I also found the same for note 5.
Many say to set router to 2.4 gihahz, set static ip, turn off something like v6 ip protocol? I don't remember well.
Also i read, mostly problem exists if router have huawei chip.
Checked mine, and it did had huawei chip..
Anyway i didn't found a solution for this. Tried better battery stats and found out tha alarms was for long time. Sleep was 85%, when normal would be 97%.
I also have a photo showing bigger drain in wifi than 4G.
Anyway how problem solved? I changed router and with everything same, i loose 3%....
But when i connect to other routers coffe, etc, if they have the same chip i still have drain there.
I probably find out the problem in note 4 first of all, as i dont read anything searching so, i inform others here.
note marshmellow battery drain
hope this helps. had the same problem of battery drain and not being able to put phone in power saving mode. i stumbled upon things that the update cuts on and you have no idea, anyway, it seems that the update has the search for other devices running 24/7 and you have to go in and switch it off. since then power mode has been enabled and stays on and battery life is back.
hello , guys .. beezyb can you explain with steps ?! you said that it seems that the update has the search for other devices running 24 hours / 7 days and i have to go in and switch it off ... bla bla .. what you mean with that ? !! can you help me ? !
