[Q] Verizon Galaxy Tab - Phone Calls - Galaxy Tab General

Has anyone started working on the Verizon Galaxy tab?
I know they were able to make the T-Mobile version make phone calls last night.

Well it is totally possible, I saw the Activation dial to *228 upon first turning it on. Even displayed the Phone icon in the top status bar during this process.
I guess it all would depend on getting the correct Phone.apk and supporting files. And then of course getting someone at Verizon to activate this as a "Smartphone" vs. a "Tablet" so that you can' actually make/receive calls.
T-Mo tablet was able to make calls by replacing files from the EU version and using a SIM from a active phone, but I don't think we are going to find anther CDMA version anywhere else except VZW and Sprint that supports voice like the EU versions.

Hi! I'm from Mexico and I bougth a Verizon Galaxy tab without knowing I wouldn't have phone calls, I feel like a moron I was able to activate it as a smartphone in my contry so I'm looking forward for a working firmware.

All the stuff for the phone is there, someone just has to make it work. I see the phone apk here on my Sprint tab, they are just blocking it somehow.

I bought a US Cellular galaxy tab of craigslist( even tho I'm die hard Verizon...) for $250, clean esn and everything but would be very interested because if someone can make it work on the Verizon tab I can for sure make it work on mine

my is from verizon... actually i am here in mexico and when it goes to activate it dials to iusacell (cdma carrier here in mexico)...
we just need some one to "unlock it"...

Sorry, I was mistaken. My galaxy tab is from Sprint not Verizon. Anyway from what I know both use CDMA network so Verizon tab should work in Iusacell without problem. To activate it I just called the iusacell help desk and provided my device ID. That's all, the activation was successfull but my tab still notify me that I'm using roaming.
I'm planning to visit iusacell directly. In the meanwhile I thing we can just wait for a jailbreak for CDMAs tabs.

I almost forgot....
If you go to iusacell web page. There's an activation chat button in the rigth top edge. Just click it and an iusacell employee will ask you for your tab ID (HEX number behind your tab). After some minutes your tab will be activated in Mexico. If you have success could you provide your experience? I'm still trying to register the device in Renaut without luck.

Well, I gave mi tab to some guy that work in iusacell, and is fully working in prepaid even with free internet at 1x (not sure is legal). He need it one full week to configure.
Not roaming, is in renaul (the guy from iusacell registered).
If you want the contact let me know.
Lets hope some one bring phone calls to this baby.

Of course! I want my tab working in Mexico , I'm not sure if the rules of the forums allow us to share contact information so I will go directly to tech support and I will be providing my expirience in a few days.
Do you have SMS?
I think we should create a new thread because we are really far from the main topic....

I created a thread to avoid filling this thread with no related posts.

[Q] A complete beginner to Android - Nexus S

Hi,
Please excuse me for being a n00b and my lack of knowledge about the Android OS but I just brought the Nexus S today (my first smart phone) and I'm after confirmation from someone that I actually brought an "unlocked" Nexus S.
I'm from Australia, visiting the States and I brought the Nexus today. My plan settings from home was set to roaming and I could connect to ATT mobile with my old phone, however when I placed my sim card into the Nexus, I'm not sure if I'm connecting to a network. (I haven't tried calling anyone cause I don't know anyone here and I don't want to rack up a massive phone bill for international calls.)
Under settings, I can see T-mobile and ATT as networks and when I click on one of them, I get the message that it is "Registered on network", however I can't seem to see the usual carrier logo on any of my home pages...so am I connected ?
The receipt from Best Buy said that I brought a phone without a plan but there was a T-mobile sim card in the box it came with, so did the employee give me the wrong one ?
Apologies for the long rant and thanks in advance !
Cheers,
Edit*
Oh yea I should include that I'm not connected to any wifi or any data connection hence all my home pages are saying that I can't connect to anything.. but still, shouldnt the network logo show up ?
No, they gave you the right one...... and also, you are connected.
All boxes come with a tmo sim in there.... the only thing I didn't like that was missing was the different earphone gum size (i'm a small sized and it only comes with a medium one, which means it falls off =( ,,,sucks ) besides that ..............I LOVE MY PHONE!!
Before you left Australia, did you call your carrier and had international roaming activated? On most networks, without international roaming on, you won't get a signal.

[Q] Unlocked Galaxy Tab International Version

Hello Folks
Would love your feed back on following questions:
1) I came across a Unlock Galaxy Tab International Version and I was wondering if I would be able to use it with a pre paid sim card to get voice and text messaging on ATT network without modifying the stock rom on it?
2) If I choose to modify the rom, what would you recommend I use. I read the newbie guide but not sure it has reached a conclusion on what works best for both voice and data?
3) If I want to be able to access data and voice, what would be the "economical" plan prepaid or postpaid that you would recommend?
If you would like link other thread that might answer my questions, your help is much appreciated
Thanks in Advance
Regards,
i own a us tmobile tab which i was able to unlock, i went out and bought an att prepaid card just to test to see if the tab was actually locked, i started with the $25 prepaid and all i can tell you is that it all the funds disappeared in less than a day, i have no clue why, i was only able to test it with 2 phone calls and about 3 tries to go online. not sure if its worth it so you might have to go with a contract but then again not sure if you want that as att is a pain in the ass and giving customers with the tab a big hassle.
I don't see why not. You can use it on both Att and Tmobile.
Tmo has prepaid service including voice and sms for about $0.13 per minute. If you pay in advance $100 you will get $0.10 per minute good for whole year.
Att likes to charge you evry month.
Hello,
Just wanted to update my original post.
1) I picked up the international version of Samsung Galaxy Tab, and it seems to have capability to join either CDMA or GSM network, which I was pleasantly surprised to find as it gives options of network providers.
2) Popped in my prepaid sims from Puretalk USA which uses ATT network but Edge Network for prepaid calling and after going into settings and picking the network, I was able to make and receive calls on it
3) The phone came unlocked, but its not rooted so not sure if I should root it?
Please advice on point 3
Regards
Rooting is not necessary unless you want full control over your Tab.
You will be able to
- remove apps and services you are not using,
- install firewall,
- make full backup of your Tab
- upgrade to a better firmware yourself etc.
Basically, you will gain ability to do whaterver you want including bricking it.
It is a matter of choice and absulutely not mandatory. Typically stock software is not bad.

AT&T Numbersync With Gear S2

I was wondering if this would work on a Nexus 6p with AT&T. I ask this due to the fact that on their website it states that it needs a HD voice compatible device for it to work. AT&T does not allow the Nexus 6P to work with a HD voice band. I logged on to my AT&T account and it would let me add a numbersync account.
bump
It will work using "Call Forwarding" but not actual "NumberSync" but it's pretty close . . .
Any progress on this?
I have a factory unlocked balckberry priv and it will not let me add numbersync telling me I have a non HD voice device. You said it let you add it? I think it will work fine and that it is just a way to force you to have an ATT phone also.
I am going to try and borrow an ATT phone with HD voice to activate numbersync and then put the sim back into my Priv... Just have to find someone around me with an actual ATT phone.. I usually get everyone I know unlocked phones.. haha

Lg v30 verizon problem

Hi all,
I'm always being shy to post, but this is an amazing place for information, this time i couldn't find anything that I was looking for so here it is the question:
- I have bought LG v30 from South Korea unlocked 128gb phone
- its recognize Verizon sim card
- 4LTE internet is working
- text messages or voice phone calling is not working, if something else is calling me it goes to voice mail.
I have called to Verizon tech support they told me that they cant enter manually the IMEI address since such phone doesn't exist yet in they data base.
Dear community,
I'm asking for help or guidance - what can I do to make this amazing phone working. I own a business so its very sensitive for me to receive phone calls or txt messages.
PS my previous phone LG V20 got completely ****ed up on construction site.
THANK YOU
In order for a phone to work reliably on Verizon it must have LTE Band 13. I'd imagine the Korean version does NOT support Band 13. Most phones support Band 4, which Verizon sometimes uses, but without 13, you're out of luck in most places. I'd either wait for the unlocked American V30 or get the Verizon branded one.

Using Red Pocket CDMA

Is anyone using Red Pocket CDMA? Will I have to contact Red Pocket for CDMA_LESS to have text messaging working? My 6t arrives today and I am beginning to wonder if it will even work with Red Pocket CDMA. I was going to put my activated sim from my axon7 into the 6twhen I get it and hope it works.
So I got the phone today. Data works but can't make or recevive calls/text. Waiting to see if Red Pocket can do anything.

You may need to program in the APN settings for texting and calls. I am unfamiliar with Red Pocket, but searched the APN settings for them:
https://bestmvno.com/apn-settings/red-pocket-mobile-apn-settings/
Hopefully this helps
Edit: I believe CDMA APN settngs are at the bottom of that link.

Thanks. The sim card needed to be replaced. Something about it locked to 3g or a 3g only card. It's all working now except for receiving sms messages. Redpocket has a ticket open to see if they can find a way to add CDMA_less provisioning.

Does Red Pocket use Verizon towers? If so theres been a few articles about a temp fix:
https://piunikaweb.com/2018/11/06/o...ng-issues-receiving-sms-mms-but-theres-a-fix/
Were you able to get the 6T to work completely with red pocket?
I'm attempting to use redpocket (CDMA/Verizon) as well. Sim card is activated and I get data service, but no voice or text. It won't let me change my APN settings. I guess I'll need to call them and get a new sim card like was mentioned earlier in the thread.
The op has the correct CDMA bands for VZW, but unfortunately they are not active. This is a shame as where I work sometimes, CDMA is only available. Not sure why the f CDMA is not active.
So I had the issue with no calls/texts, but data was working on redpocket (verizon version). I called their customer service and told them my symptoms and they got calls and outgoing texts working almost immediately without a new sim card. Apparently we can't update the APN settings because they're automatically fixed on the 6t. Incoming SMS still doesn't work. I asked about CDMA_Less setting, and got a hard "no". Who knows if that's the truth, but the tech I was talking to said it wasn't possible even after consulting his IT guy.
Good news! I was able to get Red Pocket to add the CDMA_LESS feature and now my phone is running smooth as butter! I had some issues so I will explain how I overcame those!
First I couldn't activate my voicemail. By activating this you are activating your phone pretty much. Every time I went to select 1 for English as my language it said I submitted an invalid choice. So I threw my sim in an unlocked iPhone SE and activated the voicemail. I then threw the sim back in my 6t and was able to do everything except receive texts.
So then I contacted Red Pocket. I wasn't expecting much but I let them know clearly that I could do everything except receive texts. I said I just needed the CDMA_LESS feature added. She said my iPhone SE was showing as active so she updated my IMEI on my account and then added the feature. So after restarting my device all is up and running!

Nice! I gave up 5 months ago trying to get the CDMA_LESS added by Red Pocket & switched to their 'AT&T' sim. Not as good as the VZW service, but at least I got texts. Maybe I'll try & switch back...
Thanks for letting us know its possible. Question When you activated the sim on the verison unlocked iphone. Did you enter the activation info again about sim and IMEI of the iphone. Or did you just pop in the sim and made the setup 1st call.
I just tried with a pixel 3 unlocked and I still cant get past activating the sim when I press 1 for English.
So any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'd like to know the answer. Failed to activate with a Oneplus 6T after 20 chats with CS. They said they activated cdma less but I still can't press 1 to activate. I also tried with my friend's iphone and it didn't work either. I now wonder if I need the cdma less deactivated to succeed activate with an iphone...
