He's probably another user complaining about the design of the hinge.

If your sending your phone back cause of the hinge then.. WOW.. its a hinge its not like the G1 its supposed to drop loosely when tilted thats what a hinge does when held upside down..

Haha, no morons.. first one had gps and lag issues some how, didn't use temp root as it was pointless, second had dead pixels and now this keeps on shutting off randomly.. so yeah, fourth.. did I even say anything about hinges??? Just asked a simple question, just to keep root and OC, as everything is so buggy to most phones...

I'm not sure about OC, but i do know that you can have stock and root. Just use the guide for temp root to perm root and that should be it. As for OC, you probably still have the option of getting temp root and OC with the temp root o.o if I recall correctly, I flashed my OC, so not much of a help for you there.
If I were you, I would just go with temp root for a week or so though, since you don't seem to be having that much luck with your G2s and after that, go to perm root if you feel that your phone is without problems.

Yes you can. So long as you don't flash any roms. Just root your phone and oc using the gscript method.

AdFree .
Temp root has no use what so ever. The only useful thing I could think of is aid to find permanent root.
I just think that its not worth going through the trouble rooting this thing to have to do it again and again, etc.

its pretty easy with the 3 click root....
block ads with a new hosts file (love this)
vpn into your companies' ipsec network (assuming you have the group password)
wifi tether (you knew that already)
poke around in the file system, view/replace your wpa_supplicant.conf file with the old populated one from your G1 (oh wait, that's for me)

I get the whole its easy part but you are back at square one each time. Its fun to try but not something id enjoy doing every time the device had to be powered off.
I'm just saying I hope we get permanent root soon. But that's another topic.

[G2 DISCUSSION] PsFreedom

I don't believe there is any topic like this for the G2. Just wondering if there is any psfreedom app for the vision yet. I know it just got rooted like two days ago, but just wondering if there is a psfreedom out for another android phone that works with the G2

imo the best way to do the psfreedom is in recovery. that way you dont have wifi issues and other little things ive heard about. i kow there are recoveries based on amon_ra's recovery for the g1 that have this included. im sure someone can do it to cwm or base off of amon_ra's for us.
Well I checked the site and the G2 ain't on it so was wondering if there is anyway.. and to the $28 I know they sell em but id rather just have it on my phone so I can take it easier. Since I take my phone everywhere I wouldn't have to worry about leavin it behind =p.

You only need to plug in the phone/usb dongle to boot up the system. Once it has started up, you can unplug. Yes, I have tried it. I've been doing this since the port came over to the G1 a good while ago. I would like to know where you heard this from.
I'm also waiting for a psfreedom on G2!! I dropped my G1 one too many times and it's finally dead... /tear, good times w/ the G1
i broke my G1 sometime back , i been waiting on Psfreedom on G2 since then , i havent turned off my ps3 , because i couldnt get it back into dev mode .
but now theres hope...
You only need to connect it at the startup of the PS3. Once it's started you can disconnect it.

Really want to perma root this phone

But it sounds so complicated compared to the vibrant. Is there like an auto one click root? Or a really really simple guide with a low chance of bricking.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
Its pretty straight forward if you use the guide and follow it. If you are that concerned about the risk you are probably better off with visionary.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using Tapatalk
Nah I just don't want to brick it since I'm like dirt broke right now
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
I've been looking for a video walk-through from someone using visionary, but no luck.
Depending on how eager you want to root your phone, you can either be patient and wait or actually do some research on the rooting process. The instructions they provide are exactly what you need to do. Probably the reason why others have bricked their phones is because they didn't follow instructions properly.
The success rate is extremely high and the reward of root is well worth. Consider reading the rage method instead of VISIONary. It may appear intimidating, but it works like a charm.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
The rage method has a 100% chance of working as long as you don't screw it up. The visionary method has about an 80% chance of working.
You make the choice.

might havee to wait a while if you want a full proof safe way, but just do it man, im broke too just becareful lol

Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
My only question, which has never been reported, if I have Visionary r12 have temp rooted and applied perm root. Yet perm root does not stick, is it a bad idea to use the rage method? Should I re-wipe and start over or just hit it with rage?

I guess you have never rooted a G1 or MyTouch. Some you even need to make what is call a Goldcard just to root. The Vibrant is pathetically simple.

WORD.
......................
You think the vibrant is hard to root?
Try installing a Nand Android on a HTC HD2 for the very first time. It literally took me an hour and a half to research and install Android.
The vibrant is the only phone that I can root and install a custom rom without connecting it to a PC.
Yeah it was super easy... too bad all phones can't have Odin .

Manually puttig in codes for partitioning the SD card was a pain too, when the recovery didnt do its job. HD2 was easy too lol, before the VIbrant i had a HD2 and Nand was easy
That's because you don't even have to root the gtab. Put clockwork and the rom on the sd, vol+ and power and boom! Instant gratification.
Check usb debugging-dl z4root app from 4shared.com-root
Takes less than 2 minutes.

Nope, nobody has found the exploit in it yet. if you do the update, you are stuck without root for now...neither perm nor temp work. I totally screwed myself.

The only thing I really NEEDED to be rooted for was tethering. So, for now I'm using PDAnet. It's only USB and Bluetooth, but good enough until somebody fixes the rooting problem. Otherwise i actually LIKE Gingerbread.

I just got a new one due to a bad speaker, and it's a refurb. Doesn't have the update installed, so if I get the ambition I'm going to have to root the new one today, and run the RUU on the old one later tonight lol.

Pay for the wifi hotspot?
i already pay 90 a month.. sprint gets enough. i tried tethering with usb using pdanet and then once it was connected i set up my computer as a router.. unfortunately pdanet's mtu setting is inadequate. wish i could revert to 2.2. but don't know how. just hope someone can break 2.3.3. i can still access bootloader. just remove the battery and volume down and power and that loads it but i can revert.and suggestions?
i did. im friends with the tech at mine and he said it wasnt a good idea.
You are going to have to be patient and wait for an exploit to be found like the rest of us. I'm about ready to re-activate my old Palm Pre and use it until this gets figured out...the wifi tethering works GREAT on it and it was EASY to hack/install and OTA updates don't kill it.
