Hello everyone
Finally I got the samsung tab but...
when I m trying to play a video on stock video player (with the same named subs file in the video file directory - off-course) I get Chinese and weird characters as subs.
Does anybody what I must do with the subs file so I can use it on my tab
p.s. 1 The merge - re encode proses working but is a little boring sometimes!
p.s. 2 I am a Mac user most of the time.

Hi,
Apologies in advance if I'm being incredibly stupid here, but has anyone successfully taken video clips using the xda2 camera and played them on the desktop? I've upgraded media player on the desktop to 9, I've installed the latest divx codecs - nothing. Both apps just complain at me.
Many thanks.
Spike.
i have the smae problem but i get video but no sound ????/
Hi,
I have not the problems you have both.

Editing the Video Files from i-mate
Does any one know how to edit the files, as mentioned above you can play them no worries in Quicktime player from Apple but I want to edit them and plus I need to rotate som of them. there must be a program out there, but which one.
codecs
www.doom9.org
I got Quicktime Pro, it enables me to edit and rotate the moves as I wanted to. But when you save after say rotating the video it save the file as a Quicktime movie file which does not play on the i-mate. Any one know how to play that file on the phone.
Window Media player doesn't recognize.mp4, you could change the capture format to Motion-JPEG AVI. WMP does recognize this type of document. I have experieneced the same problem b4, since i change the capture format, it works perfect on my PC. Regarding the movie making, you could use Window XP's window movie maker. It also recognize the .AVI type of document. Once you import the document to Window Movie Maker, it will automaticall save it to the WMV format, which could be played on your PPC. Hope that helps your guys.
I ahve taken some video clips on my XDaII. When transferred to my PC the file has copied and converted to PC format. However my PC doesn't recognise the file extention "MPEG-4 file" I have tried some searches on the net but I keep being refused access to the windows recommended file extention server.
If you can advise in very plain language how I can resolve this so that I can play these clips back on my PC it'd be great
Thanks
:x
Just found 3gptoavi2
http://www.mitsoftware.com/akiles/
You have to put the exe in a path with no spaces, and make sure the source and dest files have spaceless paths too, but it works fine for me.
It outputs a completely uncompressed avi (bmp + pcm), so it'll be huge (1MB/s) and you'll want to compress it afterwards.
Or you could install Quicktime on your PC. This will play the mpegs from your XDA II. (http://www.quicktime.com)
Cheerio

Wonderful. You create a video using a MS OS and to play it on another MS OS, you'll have to use the Apple player.
quicktime plays both 3gp and mp4

hi,
how do i convert videos taken with the blackstone?
i setup mpeg4 but neither windows movie thing editor nor virtualdub can handle the file.
but i can play it with mpc without any problems.
linux...at least i see the video
i like to convert it to some moviemaker compatible format so i can quick edit some files to one video with effects in between.
thx!
Blackstone videos are already highly compressed as it is, so recoding them only to be able to use them in movie maker would give you awful videos. your best bet is avisynth - a frameserving application which basically feeds uncompressed stream from original video to the editing application. The idea is this, you create a text file which contains a link to the input file, save it with an .avs extension and then open that with an editing application. The avs file could be as simple as this:
DirectShowSource("c:\VIDEO0001.mp4")
I tried it now, and it works. You need to download avisynth and install it. Unforunately, i don't remember which apps open .avs files.
sorry i don't get it...
it's not about compression in detail.
i mean i do not want to compress or decompress the files.
i can not use it with moviemaker cause i just hear the sound and the picture is black.
so i thought i convert it to a format moviemaker can handle as it seems htc is saving it in some format that can not be used.
which i think is strange but...what do i know...
i which i could do all that with my jaunty
Well, here's the deal - every time you edit a video and save it, you are recompressing it, meaning you're getting a degraded picture quality. If you are only cutting out portions of video, then you can save it without recompression, meaning you get the same quality as the original file. The moment you add effects to the video (transitions, resizing, etc...), you have to reencode video - and get lower quality. Now, that may not be a big deal when your input files are high resolution videos, but when the input file is a heavily compressed ile, such as those made with Blackstone, it will definitely show.
Movie maker can't open mp4 files. The way i see it, if you really want to edit the files, your best bet is to download Super, a freware app which uses AviSynth as a part of it's encoding process, then output the files from blackstone as avi files in HuffYuv codec (lossless compression codec), open it in Windows Movie Maker, edit it and then save it. Note that Windows Movie Maker doesn't output to mp4, only wmv.
As far as getting only the sound an no video - deinstall all codecs or codec packs from your system and install ffdshow.

thanks for that but same thing happened as with videora, it says "the file may be copied for storage or transport use only. it is not supported for use on the device". i converted it to mp4. think it might be to do with the video file itself i`m converting, its off a torrent. also when playing it through windows media player on my computer it says: "the selected file has an extension (.mp4) that is not recognised by windows media player, do you want to try anyway" an when playing the file the sound is there but no picture. do you need codecs for mobiles??? because when 1st playing the original file on my computer before converting it for my phone, same thing happened and i had to download codecs to watch it.
anyway thanks for your reply

Videora (TD2 Version) works perfectly for me...
Can you play back the original file on your PC?
And the converted one?
TCMP
Tcmp is your solution !
If you do a little search of this forum you may find a version of tcmp supporting the srt files.
With tcmp, you don't need to convert your avi files. It run pretty well in full screen with 700 mb divx files on my topaz.
use pocketdivxenc
Hi everyone,
I use this http://www.pocketdivxencoder.net/EN_index.htm on my topaz and it's incredible....try it.
I use Beta version 0.4.5 and the templates tool, and i saw on my topaz Terminator Salvation, District 9 & Start Trek without problem on CorePlayer .
I hope it works for u
sorry for my english !!!

thanks for this, will the files play on windows media player on my phone when i`v used this or do i need a different player?
Usually Divx/Xvid..files for PC have an exagerated bitrate for PPC use, that is why it is wise to convert them.
Here's my technique:
1) convert original divx/xvid file with HTC Touch HD Video Converter, available here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=467112
2) Copy resulting .mp4 file to SD
3) Play with HTC Album
Note: Coreplayer can play this file aswell, but I think that htc album playback is smoother.
Unfortunately HTC Touch HD Video Converter doesn't rip dvd, can anyone suggest some all-in-one application to easily make divx?
I just changed from a white Note to a black one - go figure, but on this Note, I cannot play MP4 files. Previously I could without making any modifications.
Any idea why this is happening?
Thanks in advance!
just a long shot, how did you copy your Mp4 files to your note? just drag and dropping them ?
Usually when your going to copy or move music/video files on to your Note, You will usually be prompted with a Window on your PC/laptop to say t"hat this file can be converted.. etc, and would you like to convert this file?", when you click on Convert... that will be the time that file/s will be converted to a readable file that the Note can read.. .and play...

Interesting....
Have had this problem on and off for a while. Just transferred two MP4s to my Note - one worked and one didn't! Both are x264 format but one shows as 0x0 resolution on the Note - the other one shows 720 x 404. The first one is the one that doesn't work.
Will do some further testing and report back....
- Update - Have used Div X Plus Converter and converted the Mp4 to MKV which worked but took ages to convert.... then I remembered....
AVI Four CC Converter (see link below) - it allows you to edit the header file of the video to show DivX or MP41,MP42,MP43 which makes the video player think it is a file that it is compatible with and it plays! I know this seems like a fudge, but I used to use it a lot on my blackberry. I set the MP4 header to MP43 and it played. It takes less than a second and stops you needing to convert files. It doesn't work on all avi/mp4 files but does on a lot of them.

Hope this works for you
