i have vibrant t959 .after wrong try ,now phone shows too many pattern attempts.i try to flash but it,s hardware lock phone ,not goes to downloading mode<vol up,vol down and power>.i also try with usb cable but it does not goes to download mode .any help plssssssssssss.
There is forgot your pattern lock button, enter your gmail acct password and you are done, unless the phone is not yours than the cold shower followed by 300F oven will fix it.
There is also a bug in which your account info will not unlock the phone either, leaving you with a factory reset as your only option.
Good luck!

I dunno, maybe he stole that account too!
I could have registered on 2003, and I stole a phone. BUT since I registered in 03, then I am NOT a thieve. See how your logic works?

.....Eh, I had a whole long paragraph trying to explain it, but its not worth it. It can be argued either way. I guess I am just a lil more trusting than most. Just would seem more suspicious that a first time poster would actually have the stolen phone over a long time member.
Touchè my friend.
The irony of the situation, is that my first post infact was trying to bypass the pattern lock lol... I just got the phone and locked myself out, and google did not work...

So, I work for sprint (a retail store) and get people everyday that "didnt put in or set up a gmail email address" (lol) when they set up their phones, but set up the lock screen and enter in the wrong combination and lock themselves out. All I can do is hard reset the phone to get them phone functionality back... Anyone know of a way, or program, that could get them into the phone? Just to make my life easier than saying "Yes, I can get you access to your phone, but you're gonna lose all your texts and contacts..." lol
Their contacts should be sync'ing to Google anyway... so tell them to get over themselves lol.
I remember finding a way to reset the pattern lock without doing too much fancy work (app) but can't recall it now. Will look into it again and see if I can remember what it was.
lol they dont know their gmail address because they set it up, created a new account so they could get into the market, and then forgot it lol....
Remove Pattern Lock This should help, tested and works.
CSAT be damned, that's when i decide to be a jerk to them. If you can't remember the email account you used, then maybe they deserve it just a little bit.

Yeah when I was still at sprint, there were always a few people I was willing to take a zero for, usually the people who swore they woke up with a broken screen and don't know how it happened. But back on track, if you can get the sdk installed onto the tech laptop you should be able to do this in a matter of seconds and keep the morons happy.
JT, can I make a suggestion? Ham it up before you restore their device. Tell them it's "damn near impossible normally, but I'm VERY good at what I do, so let me at least try my best", and tell them it'll take at least 30-45 minutes. I used to do that with bricked Blackberries, since nobody knew how to go into DOS on the tech laptop and fix it with command line.
Your CSAT will skyrocket, even if you treat them like they're dumber than a bag of wet hammers.
we have 1 corporate store in our city (my store), and 1 in the next city (a half hour away, in good traffic).. Our store doesnt do tech support, at all lol... Strictly retail... we can troubleshoot, but that's about it. I think I will start bringing in my laptop though, just for these few people (had 3 or 4 the last week... first couple had usb debugging and stay awake checked, so I could still get the contacts off. the rest, hard reset lol)

I'm advanced tech, and I'll bend over backwards for a customer with a real problem. But if they forgot their pattern lock, and dont know their own email adress, I have no sympathy. If there was an alternate method that was easier and took less time without them losing data, id still hard reset.

I was stupid. I was screwing with my phone and I set the lock pattern and didn't pay attention. Now it's locked and I can't get into it.
I've got one of the newer Vibrants, which does not go into download or recovery mode through the physical buttons.
I've done a lot of research and there are several methods out there but nothing so far that will work for me.
I'm not able to log in to my google account. It's not working. I've tried wi-fi and 3G. It's just not working.
Please help. I'm totally stuck right now.
Isn't there a way to do a physical reset somehow???
Are you rooted?

Here is how to fix if the phone is really yours.
You have to know your gmail user/password.
If stolen you will still be locked out
If you try entering the incorrect pattern five times you will see a screen where there will be a place to click for people who forgot their unlock pattern. It will ask you to enter your gmail user name and password. then will ask you to set a new unlock pattern and you will be fine
Edit
Missed the part were you said you dont know your google account...obviously stolen
Don't think just because he made a mistake with the code that the phone's stolen. I once set the passcode on my iPhone wrong even though I had to repeat it to set it, and I had to plug it into iTunes and restore to get back in.
If you can't get into your Google Account, OP, click forgot your password on the Google Account page (on your computer) and reset it.
Can you not get to download thro odin?

It's NOT stolen.
Hello everyone.
First let me say, this phone IS NOT stolen. I enabled the pattern thingy without really paying attention. I was just farting around on the phone. Then I got locked out.
It asked if I wanted to log in with my google account.
HELL YEA. That would be perfect. I DO know my google account information and that's one reason I love Android. I don't have to sync anything.
But it wont validate. It wont even try to use the data to validate. It automatically tells me it's wrong the moment I click "log in". I've read that other people in my similar situation have had the same problem. The suggestion was to use 3g and not Wi-Fi which I tried but that didn't work.
I think maybe because I'm using SimpleMobile, the phone may be trying T-Mobiles APN when I'm using SimpleMobile's network. I dont know though.
Yes, the phone is rooted.
But as of right now, the phone is bricked. I can't get in.
And I just came back from T-Mobile. I can't find my receipt and they can't find my account. This was originally an AT&T number that was ported to T-Mobile, and then ported to SimpleMobile. The guy says it's impossible that he can't find my account under my number and thinks I'm a fraud.
I really really need some help here. Can anyone suggest anything?
I learned when I rooted this phone, that there is NO way to get into download mode or recovery mode using the power button and volume buttons. I had to use method on theunlockr.com to root.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help me. I'm being forced back into my European Hero and I hate it
Sounds like a data connection problem but yea wifi is not an option
u have a friend with tmobile with data plan?
Try putting their sim card in and try the Google account user/pass again
The T-Mobile rep tried that and it did not work.
Right now, I've got the phone configured to use SimpleMobile's network. I think the phone is trying to use the wrong APN for validation.
I found this post.

I'm pretty sure it's in debug mode. But I'm not really sure how to proceed. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Sorry but if you're using a t mobile vibrant with another GSM carrier then its unlocked then swapping with t mobile and your sim vice-versa will work fine that's why i recommended trying that
And why don't you go check my posting history douche bag. I've had this Vibrant for a month already.

Talking to people like that wont get you the help you want.
Back from when i was a Tmo rep i only dealt with Sim lockouts and we could access this information and help unlock it with an 8 digit passcode.
However from what you are saying you are on a smaller GSM carrier and they are unable to get you this info because it is not a phone supported by them (they dont sell the phone thus no customer service for it). Only way to get this by yourself is to use Odin and flash back stock rom due to you not being able to access download mode.
Just because u had a stolen phone for a month dont mean any thing and looking u only been member a short time and your post are asking the same trash over and over again .may want to go back to using your htc hero

Hey guys.
On the HTC i have set up a 4 Digit Pin, so that no one can just grab my phone and use it while i am at work, and its been working great for the last few months, but today all of a sudden, when i press the unlock on the screen the button only works about 20% of the time and when the unlock button is pressed it throws back that my password is wrong. I know the password is right as its my date of birth...
Any ideas on how to unlock this thing?

If you can't unloc anymore, I'm afraid you need a hard-reset.
but off-toppic, way using your date of birth? I mean mostly your colleges known this! No?
Ow, ps welcome on xda.
If you keep trying and it still says incorrect then reset it....
But have you done any software changes? you installed something or removed anything before this happen?
No one knows my date of birth, and its not something that is discussed at work.
No new software has been installed or change.
It just started doing this last night and i thought id do an extended power cycle to fix it.. but it turns out its an issue with windows mobile.. no more phone locks for me. Ive lost so much personal data from doing a hard reset. i am just hoping i can recover some stuff off the memory card from when i did a pim back up a few months ago.

WOW that sucks... I know how you feel... I gotten into the habit of backing up everything when i get the chance now...
If you haven't already Start using "Microsoft MyPhone" ... You need a Live Account but it backs up Text Contacts Calender photos videos.. bunch of stuff
I know the feeling of losing contact number/sms/...
In the earlier state I used also a lock combination (thinking it's save) but unfortunate I have had the same experience like you, so from that moment I don't use it anymore.
hope you can restore a lot.
tray to make on regular base updates, Microsoft MyPhone is a good solution.
well on the bright side i am taking this chance to update the rom because ive lost everything anyway..
hopefully i can retrieve everyones contact numbers, specially my gf's lol.

Hi all
It just happened that I find a t-mobile Hero on a bus 52 to Victoria Station (I got off at the Royal Albert Hall and I notice it just before I got off)
I'm thinking about call one of the contacts on the address book but the screen is locked.
I haven't got any calls from it, so I can tell anybody that that phone is lost.
I'm reluctant to go into a T-mobile store because maybe they just get the device and keep it for them without even notifying the owner.
What would be your best advice in order to give it back to its right owner before s/he block the mobile's IMEI?
Regards!

Lmao. Yeah, send it back with flash working and oc'd to 800+, so it keeps their hands warm on cold November nights like now.
They usually block them straight away. Ring 'mum' or 'dad'. They're probably on shopping holiday from Croatia.
And it was all yellow...

It may be possible you could adb in and pull the contacts database and get home?

It was a pleasant evening, I walked.
Hush...
This is the big failing of the pattern lock screen system... It stops malicious use, but also stops legitimate things like this.
I've always been in favour of setting a custom message on the lockscreen using CMParts, but this isn't a custom ROM (I presume).
What's worth a look is to try "adb devices" with the device connected. See if you can get it to show. This will only happen if the user has enabled USB debugging, which would suggest it could be rooted.
If it's rooted, it would be possible to retrieve enough info to contact the user. If it's not rooted, it's not going to let you get at anything...
I'm aware that any info here would help someone who had stolen a phone, so I'm not going to give away any of the tricks to get into the device by bypassing that screen.
Still, it's good to see some honest people about here... One suggestion. Remove the SIM, and put it into another device (non smartphone). See if there are any contacts on the SIM (presuming it's not PIN protected. If it is, you're stuffed from this respect, as some people might have used an older contract sim in the Hero as an upgrade phone, perhaps with a few phonebook entries you could try out?
Failing that, I'm not sure how else you could really do this You could go into the network's store, and give them the SIM, and ask them if they could get the owner to contact you, if you gave them an email address. They would probably be able to do that, as there would be no data protection issue.

That will only work if rooted, since you can't access /data without root on the Hero.
If you could root the device, you could sort it easily. The trouble is that it's a bit iffy... If the OP PMs me, I will give him a few suggestions in private, as he's got a long history on XDA. I reckon I can get the contact info out the phone (just had an idea )
Hmmm... Necro fail Doh!
Take the sim card out and put it into another tmobile phone, as the contacts may be stored on there, i know i do to save the hastle when getting a new phone, or use a micro sd card reader check whats on the memory card there may be some contact info.
I am glad to know that there are honest people like you in this world..
Hi,
So today I changed the pin for my mom's phone and the completely forgot it.
She has a lot of Photos on the phone that she wants to keep, but she has not turned on the backup to google photos option
Is there a way to unlock the phone or recover the photos ?
I have entered the wrong pin multiple times and I still cant see the forgot password option.
Pls help or else mom will kill me.
I hope there is no solution because it would be big security problem.
Your mother maybe using google photos cloud so dont be worry
This poses a security risk for those who lost their phones, so I hope there's no easy way around it.
RIP OP
I also hope there isn't a remedy. I don't mean to sound negative and not help but look at it from our side.
I once had a phone that needed a pin to unlock after being fully booted. Was able to go into recovery without it though.
But on 6t I think the pin encrypts the partition, so no way of bypassing it.
[irony] Maybe tell some intelligence agency that there is terrorist evidence on the phone, see if they have a "special key". [/irony]

Get your plot ready then.
You have to format data.
Hopefully you can remember the password or pin.
There is far to many security measures in place
you could by having USB debugging on don't know if it's against rules to tell you or just have them email you don't they still email the password to email reg. on phone
There is simply NO way to access the contents without the encryption key. No app from google that claims it can, not google, not even the NSA or anyone but the key holder can. Trust me, you messed up and there is no other way but to remember what it was or completedly reset the phone. After you reset you will be asked password for the account that was last used there. not worth even trying mate.

Not really for 6T. File Based Encryption that's used by OnePlus doesn't help here either. There may be a way for OnePlus 6 tho since it uses a different key to sign its boot image.
It may be possible to change current password by using Google Find My Device (https://www.google.com/android/find), but i haven't used it for a long time so i'm not sure at this point.
