Today markes the day that Sony Ericsson Ends it partnership with Wm, I guess the Next smartphone the X2 Will either be for Symbian S60 or Google's Android OS. Welll the had a good run with windows mobile but now its over.
But Atleast We know that there will be/could be a PSP Phone coming.
Source plz.
I'm not surprised. SE was barely involved in SEX1 developement, x1 is HTC device excluded panels... And even panels... I don't know how much has been developed by SE
so, who cares basically? I purchased X1 'cause I need a qwerty small device... that's it
Here You Go!!

Thats true, Thats why i nvr Bought one. But its a little sad that no more inovative things for Wm like panals. But its okay tho.
The article is barely a reliable source to confirm that SE is ending partnership with Microsoft.
The rumor has been been going around since even before X1 was launched and if Ericsson is really off loading their shares to Sony, if i remember correctly Sony was always a big fan of Windows Mobile.

Well this time it is most likely true because First there sales for the flagship X1 sucked, second There phones arent selling so there losing money, Third Wm is the MOST expensive OS out there, so there trying to cut cost and maybe save them self from Spliting up. There almost sdoing as bad as Motorola. And ya
I heard a rumour that it was the andriod phones that are likely to be reduced or stopped by companies like sony and a few others as it does not really hold its own market. i think people see it like symbian for normal phones and mw for business. android is like iphone but companies are thinking if u want something like iphone u would buy an iphone.
not saying the rumour is true as there is at the mo nothing to back it up but i hear that was what a lot of mobile phones companies were thinking
Ya, and i have use Symbian i Wm has just 2 things over it, 1 Its UI is very costumizable and Its great intergration with everything Windows. But symbian has Way better res 16 million colors, better Costumizablility Video ring and others, better more stable Wi-Fi connection, Faster too. So really X2 would be alot better on symbian even.
Rumors, nothing else. (it's a symbian "fan-page" )

But It also says android, Also there saying what the head of Ericsson said so it couldn't be to far from The truth. But I think its true, Bad Pofits+Low selling Wm phones+ EXPENSIVE OS($99 each Vs $29 s60 vs Free android)=Bye Bye Window Phones, And For them to Truly have a High tech Phone and Feature packed the cant Us wm, cuz it doesn't support alot of things I.e OMINIA HD left Wm because it couldnt support half the things it has especially HD. But maybe Windows Phone 7 will change that.

"Go back to your home" What are you a racist. I bet you voted for McCain. Wow havent heard something like that for a while But hmmmm I dont know, maybe your right. Just because I work As a Firmware engineer For samsung in California i dont know anything right.... Sorry. I guess a person that most likely works a walmart knows more than me.
I also bought the X1 because it is just an amazing phone. Although I owned two SE-phones before the X1 I never thought that I HAVE to buy a SE-phone again... The X1 is a HTC device and I think it opened the HTC-window for many SE-users; I think the X1 is a better commercial success for HTC then for HTC, because SE will loose with the X2 at least all the users that don't like Android and Symbian (including me).
With the X1 I said in fact 'goodbye SE', 'hello HTC'

label me whatever you like . that does not change the fact that you are spreading garbage based on a very dumb article writen by a symbian "freak" (pun intended) and a very retarded speculation from your part.
the recent development in software and some of the leaks about the x2 hardware (better keyboard, based on 6.5..etc) as mentioned in the other thread suggests that SE are committed to WM.

True, True, But ya. I think your right with that But another reason i like the X1 is because of the designe , Thats why i like most Phone, I mean teh OS is very important to me BUt if The feature List is Killer like The Upcoming Nokia n97(which i already pre-odered for $750). Its sooo advanced that i would give Up the best OS out there WM for a less advanced but still good S60. You gatta be open minded when it comes to OS's. I have owned and used all the Mobile Os. Android, Mac, S60, RIM, Wm, Palm and touch wiz, so i know what i am talking about when i say what i say. Now i am using the HTC HD because its super sexy, In 1 month ill be using the Nokia N97 because its sexier, Way more features, 32 GIGS of memory, 3.5 inch screen With 16:9 Res, NOW no Phone can top that. Can you name one, that has better features?
Oh well, windows mobile is actually a really good OS.
I have an iphone, blackberry bold, nokia n82, and my beloved Xperia X1i.
That being said, I've come to learn and know about almost every OS, of course there's Android which I probably will not experience.
I love Windows Mobile. Symbian is quite responsive, but simplistic.
The iphone's OS is also simple, beautiful, and good for gaming.
Blackberry's OS is mainly for eye candy and business, I couldn't really find many games on its platform.
Android, not too sure!
Heres a little proof That Sony ericsson is starting its move FROM WM http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2009/...-foxconn-sourced-android-phones-from-sony-er/
But also you could be right that the are not gonna completely Move. I can admit to my wrong, But im say theres a huge chance there gonna start to move away from WM

Yes your Right.. I dont think anyone on this web site can say the have had a better OS(even me) but im just saying SE is loving Wm now. Did you know that the Have only made 1 Wm phone and the sales were BAD, All other smartphones have been Symbian(which i like because how it interhrates everything into its Ui(which cant be costumizedbut okay)
For example The P series, M series G series and W series.
your silly topic is now your signature. seriously dude, you have issues
-SE releasing android does not mean leaving WM. it just means they are experimenting with something new . SE said they were supporting android since LAST YEAR.
-your other links (idou and SE losing money) are pointless and irrelevant here
-whare the hell did you come up with the wm OS price and the very poor X1 sales numbers??!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think when my upgrade comes through later this year, I think it's time to say goodbye to Microsoft and Windows phones. I am so disappointed with how far behind Apple and Android they are and of there is something descent developed it costs far more then the others do. Android is up and coming with loads of apps and apple speaks for themselves. Microsoft you really need to get your act together, instead of spending all your time coming with operating systems that aren't much better then the previous ones get on with creating stuff that will actually keep people buying your phones.
Must say I agree. I was very disappointed with the news about Mobil 7. What is it about 'social networking' that makes Microsoft so excited? If it wasn't for xda-developers, I would have moved away from windows mobile two years ago. I'm only sticking around until I drain the last few drops from WM6.*, and I'm a WM developer (business apps).
totally agree with you....i have just sold my blackstone and bought a Google G1 (which costs less) and it is much better there is no doubt about it.
I will never buy an iphone i just dont like apple but the WM7 phone looks potentially disappointing so I am holding out for gingerbread.....apparently it will be amazing
Yes, that's the same thing I thinking about. I'm put off by Apples total control of the system (£60-ish to register and develop). I can't ever see myself going down the Apple route. Android, on the other hand, with their (download development environment for free) attitude has a lot more potential. Unfortunately, I've only just got this Blackstone HD. Now thinking about selling it and moving to android.
I'm just waiting for my contract to end in few months and I'm going for Android. Looks very promising.
Tottally dissapointed with what I hear about WP7 and where its going. Its kinda sad. I'm on WM for 7 years I think.
I have had my iPhone for about a year now and it is Jailbroken. I am not a huge fan of iOS, especially iOS4. I have an oppurtunity to trade it straight up for an HTC Pure. I'd thought I'd ask you guys if you thought it would be a good deal or not. I could go to an iPhone thread and ask the same question, but I know the response I will get from all the Apple Nuts. I figured you'd guys would be a little more level headed and sane. I have used WM before and have owned a Touch Pro 2 on T-Mobile. I got the iPhone from work because it was only $50, but I haven't been really impressed with it. So I was just wondering if you guys thought it would be a fair enough trade.
I'd trade it in a heart beat.
What fuctionality are you lookign For?
I have owned the WM devices for a long time and really like them. What exactly are you looking for? The biggest difference to me would be the apps of IOS vs. the flexibility of WM6.5. If you are so-so about the iphone, I wonder why? Personally, I have friends that really like the simplicity and execution of the iphone models. I personally want freedom from carrier control. I currently own the Pure and love it. You need to so some minor tweeks to improve performance though. Android seems like WM7 (i.e. wm6.5+). Good luck with your decision.
I hope there continue some WM6.5+ development that helps keep this OS alive a little longer.
Good Luck.
pure blows the 3g away...cpu, memory, everything...apps on the other hand are not as complete
Windows Mobile v iPhone 3
It all depends what you use it for. If its for the basic functions call/sms/apps, then in my opinion its a no-brainer, keep the iphone. It does the job.
However if you want more from a phone and not too bothered about the rubbish WM interface and the need for a stylus, go for WM.
I've use HTC phones with WM for the past 4/5 years. Im thinking my next phone will be either a HTC/Android or iPhone4.

I agree that WM interface is rubbish, however HTC Sense is far superior to Apple OS interfece IMO.
Also, I never use my stylus...
I also agree that Android is probably the next step forward as WM seems to be taking an Applesque aprpoach in WM7. Big mistake....
She's going to go for her 4th iPhone and I don't need the 3rd. We'll likely sell it to a T-mobile user.
My Pure with an NRG rom does what I want. My 4th WM phone. It's a long way away from my first Razr.utility phone but I don't use much more.
A Razr 3 could do a good contact list and calendar and sync to a pc via Motorola Phone Tools. Text and MediaNet too. A real phone! BTW, the Pure is about the same size as an opened Razr.
Somehow there is almost always a PC around and I use that for most of what people want the PPC phones anyway.
Hello ya'll!
Have been using my Trophy for about a month now and really loving the WP. A few things missing, a few things uncustomizable, but god it's snappy and intuitive!
But now as the WP8 is the news of the day I'm wondering whether the Trophy will get this WP7.8-update? I understand it doesn't have that much of new stuff, same things as WP8 minus the hardware-upgrades, but it would be nice to have at least some level on "continuity" on this device especially as it's just a year old (?) and the hardware and all are pretty much up to today's standards? I don't like to feel like a "handset-retard" with a phone that's practically just a year old. Or is that just the way things go nowadays?
Just a little chitchat thread this one. Feel free to post your best guesses or facts that even scrape the topic!
Hello, my Trophy is almost two years old (in a couple of months).
But I see no reason why we shouldn't get the 7.8 update. As you stated, the hardware is up to today's standard.
We'll get
The Doc.
I was thinking more along the lines of... when that build hits, we'll have it cooked and on a billion different phones in less then an hour... lol
But that's just me. The start screen change along makes the current Tango builds seem.. well.. boring. Extra free ram be damned.
One year into my ownership of my Trophy (well, and my recently acquired 2nd Trophy), and am really looking into new Windows Phone 8 hardware.. whatever that might be.
Now I just have to pray that Verizon doesn't sit around on its ass while AT&T and T-Mobile are selling out of stupid looking Windows Phones like the Lumia 810, and the sexy looking Windows Phones like the Lumia 900+.
It's better than nothing really. There even any other MINOR things 7.8 will give us? A better texting app with video MMS? Anything?
Other then the new start screen, I haven't seen anything. At this point in my phones life, I'm just happy to see that we're getting any kind of official updates. It beats the support on every other smart phone I've owned (all HTC).
How is the Surface tablet supposed to be popular and give the iPad a run for its money if places to buy it are limited?
You can buy an iPad online, Apple stores and select retail stores.
Mircrosoft have a handful of Microsoft stores in the US ONLY. Is the only option to buy online direct from a Microsoft store?
Mircrosoft seriously needs to make the Surface table easy to purchase from a wide number of sources if it has any chance to great sales figures.
I for one can't wait. Upgrading to Windows 8 on my desktop, purchasing a top Windows 8 handset and a 16gb Surface RT tablet. This combined with Skydrive makes an awesome integrated OS - just like Apple with the iPhone, Mac OS, iPad and iCloud.

Yeah, calm down man. You wrote this as if you already know that Surface will be difficult to find. Just wait till you actually hear something about where it will be available. Here's betting that-just like Apple-it will be available in MS stores, online, and at retailers like Best Buy. So relax.
Ok I will calm down I am sure I heard in the Keynote that you could only buy it through Microsoft. The thing is there are no physical Microsoft stores in Europe and that needs to be fixed.

i think it will be available in every store as are other tabs, laptops etc.
it might not beat ipad sales but will surely give a run for its money...
this is the only tab that i think has the power to take down ipad eventually....
If you truly can't wait, I then get a Samsung Series 7 Slate and load Windows 8. It's pretty close to a Surface, which is also made by Samsung.
It's pretty slick.

Considering the surface is the equivallent of an ultrabook in tablet form.... It's safe to say that it is beyond comparison to an ipad, unless said iPad was running OSX and the same Intel hardware as a MacBook.
Next time try not to say something so blatently idiotic.
Surface RT is only going to be on 6 models for the first 6-9 months. If I read correctly each chip maker was able to hand pick 2 companies to work with to make the first release of RT.
Now I am sure Microsoft and the 6 will have more then enough ways to feed the hunger for a Windows Tablet with and Arm chip.
Come the fall, you are not going to be able to find a place where there is no Windows RT available.
Yes right now, who knows where it's going to be sold, how much it will be.....
I am sure come Launch you will see a live event that will have all that information.
As it is right now.....everywhere I go I can not avoid the "Upgrade to Win8 for $15" ads, posters, radio spots.......
It's only 2-3 months away from Launch.......wait, be calm, don't panic....after your going to see how silly your words were!!!!

I think you are the one who said something idiotic - not I. There are TWO Surfaces or have you forgotten? Surface RT is not equivalent to an ultrabook and can be put up against/compared to an iPad. Surface Pro is on par with an ultrabook as it has full blown windows under the Metro skin.
No need to jump down my throat
i secont that... RT is in direct competition with iPad where as Pro one, which will come out late, is an ultrabook

that would make perfect sense, a manufacture that is already pumping out these things wouldn't need a massive change of direction to run another production line of a similar nature.
anyhow, wait until one pops out then we can rip it apart and look for point of origin signs

the surface presentation looked like a soft launch of alpha class stuffs for market testing...it wasn't even as solid as the wp7 early debut. "Limited supply" screams low commitment or low expectations from Microsoft.
Just sayin

Take pictures, post them here... it would be neat to see some marketing again from Microsoft.
Most places like Best Buy and Futureshop have the deal on, I know I even saw it on the MS website.
Except for a tiny link on most sites, you would think Windows 8 was not going to happen anytime soon.
Windows 8 Metro relies HEAVILY on touch or high end trackpad support. PS/2 trackpads that are on the vast majority of laptops don't cut it with their pseudo-multitouch.
I am going to get a Samsung 7 because I am excited as an avid Mac and Windows Phone user that something so elegant and powerful is coming to the desktop.
Current hardware basically stinks to high heaven for getting a good Windows 8 experience because even RTM makes using the desktop difficult because desktop apps are hidden by default. This is a completely new OS, not at all an upgrade.

Anyway, what sucks about the 14.99 windows upgrade is that the special price is only valid if you have purchased a PC with Windows 7 from June 2, 2012 to January 31, 2013. If you have a PC with Windows 7 prior to June 2012 (as I have), I guess we have to pay the full monty for it. Ho hum!
RT can't be compared to iPad because it doesn't have nor could it have the same amount and quality of apps.
