[Q] Disable Vodafone 360 Services - Trophy General

Hallo everybody,
I Want to ask if anybody Over Herr aleeady Manager to disable the Vodafone 360 Services on the Search-Button?!
It's totaly useless to me since I am no Vodafone User. I've already noticed, that the LG Optimus US linked to Bing. I find this More usefull.
So If Dome of you already found a Way, please let us know .

I just removed the app. I am a vodafone customer, but still thought it was no good. Hold your finger on the app until the uninstall option appears.

I think he's asking about the search button behaviour in the browser, which brings vodafone360 site. Unfortunately this cannot be changed. Probably it's a good idea to post about that in Microsoft's forum. If more people bring complaints about this, eventually Microsoft could add an option for manual selecting of the default IE search engine. For the time being the only kind of work-around is to press home before pressing search. That's stupid, isn't it?

I have an unlocked Vodafone Trophy, and hitting Search in the browser shows me Bing. Without uninstalling their app yet.

OK, thanks for your answers. Like martoto Said. "It's stupid" that I have to hit the homebutton first.
Little Question to "Tom Servo", with unlocked die you mean "without simlock"? I am asking, because my Phone don't have Simlock either.

I have a Vodafone HTC Trophy, and unpinned the Vodafone 360 tile straight away and haven't opened it at all. I have Bing as my default search provider.
The phone has a screen lock and SIM lock, you can set up the SIM lock in Settings> Applications> Phone, at the bottom of the page. Enable the SIM security and enter your chosen PIN, turn off and enter your PIN to disable.

Phone app conflict with password screen, bug?

Hello guys. Long time lurker first time poster. Tried the search but can't seem to find the relevant info.
My wife is now using an XDA Mini and there's one thing that really bugs her.
When her phone goes on standby and she gets a call, the phone app activates. However, it gets stuck here and the top window bar only displays the "Password" label on the upper left-hand. No other button is available even the "Ok" label is not visible.
All the other app that can be access from the phone app is available but no way out of this screen to get to the password screen. She has to take out the batt or do a soft reset.
Her current ROM isn't the 1.12 (?) version and our WinME PC prevents us from doing an upgrade.
Has this been addressed in the updated ROM? Or is there another way out of the stuck phone app?
Appreciate the help. Thanks.
Hi mc_oliver,
this seems to be a bug on our devices. Using an app switcher (like PocketNav, TaskMaster, or others - see here) might help you to get the password-screen back to the top, so that you'll be able to enter the password.

Password lock out O2 XDA IIi
Hi
I have also had this problem that if the keypad password is set having received a call and finished it the keypad password cannot be entered to enter today menu and a soft reset required.
Anyone else got any ideas of fixes for this?
Does O2 know about this? I will be asking them soon my self.

Appreciate the replies guys.
Last week I managed to upgrade the ROM to 1.11. So far the problem hasn't occured again. Just FYI.
Thanks.
mc_oliver> My xda II mini is running 1.11 ROM as well. You will still have that password screen problem, but less frequent. Sorry to disappoint you.
Key pad Password lock out freezing
Hi
I have found one solution to the baove problem for O2 users.
select the O2 icon on the start menu bar - the Active menu will appear and suddenly go so you have to try a few times and move quick!
having got the Active menu on screen swiftly select tools then task manager.
select password and close application - nothing will happen, but then select activate. this will activate passwrod and then you can in put your password and get back to full operation.
Does anyone have a quicker way?!!!

Unable to use End Key to lock the device

Hi guys,
I have ensure to save the change of 'Settings - Buttoms - End Key - Automatically execute the selected action - Lock device'. But it still doesn't work for me when I press and hold the end key for a few seconds. For the other three actions, like Transfer to airport mode, Teminate data transfer and Set vibrate/ring, they work fine.
Does anyone know what happens to my HD?
Thanks,
Wayne
if you've added a lock code to your device (via Start Menu-->Settings-->Personal-->Lock), this will disable the long-press endkey lock features. click the search button above and type endkey device lock for lots more info on the subject. welcome to xda!

Thank you cortez.i.
I do have input a personal lock code when initializing the device. I have also done a search on the topics similar to this, but couldn't find a solution to enable both features (personal lock code & long-press endkey lock) at the same time. I'm happy to use the power key to lock the device though.
Yep, I'm new to xda and have been given this wonderful side from the supplier since I've bought my HTC HD. I'm keen to learn and implement certain personal mobile applications to my device. Hopefully, you and other fellow members can shed me some light how/what to begin.
Cheers,
Wayne
I'm also looking for this. Any way to re-enable "lock device" + code?
It does not work when having long-press endkey set to "Quick list", and then pressing "lock device" from the quick list either.
Edit: I searched without finding any soultion. While I found this, it just states the problem withouth any solution. Code + long press lock works on my father's S730.

In need of urgent help - PIN number

Ok so I dont know what happened. I installed this medaldetector app for my phpne. I installed it and ran it and then it sor of had a spaz attack. Had no idea to close it so I took the battery out. (This might have nothing to do with my issue) So when I started up my phone it asked me for a pin number. I never use a pin number and I do not recall turning the option on to use one. So now I cant call or txt or anything like that without the pin.
So I am really stumped. Help me out please.

try your sim card in a different phone and see if it asks for pin code. if it does, somehow pin verification got activated. you need to find the little card that came with your sim card which has the pin code and puk code. if you can't find it, call your operator, they will give you those. (puk code is used when you entered your pin code wrong 3 times) good luck.
Thanks alot... Helped
I have WinMo 6.5.5 on my phone and can't find where to turn off the Pin verification? Anyone know how to do this?
On your home screen, scroll accross to the end (Setings). Tap menu and press All Settings. Go to Personal and then to Phone. You should be able to disable it there.
Alternatively, you could just tap your top menu bar. There should be an icon for your service provider, just tap that and it should directly take you to the option you want.

For pattern lock: Settings > Location & Security > Security Lock
From there you can do a passcode or the pattern. I personally use pattern because it can replace the slide to unlock all together while keeping it secure.
I got the pattern lock....but what about adding a note or your personal contact information, thats whats missing...thanks
If there is a way, I haven't found it. I know you can do it on rooted devices, depending on how the rom is set up, but as far as the droid x, I haven't seen a way to do it. You can download an app from the market that will call your phone if you lose it. Also there are apps that will find your phone on GPS. I know this isn't really what your wanting to do, but it will help you if it gets lost.
after many hours on the net I found the answer. you get this by installing the antivirus program from the apps market. you change the "this phone belongs to:" by going to the antivirus program and pressing the menu button form there go to settings, then remote management and finely lost message. you can change the whole message

That's just specific to that app. There is no way on the stock rom to set this information you are looking for. Just add a contact called Me to your contact list. That way if you lose the phone, somebody may call you (If they don't keep the phone)

Too much work for something too small I think.
One way is to update your wallpaper image to have the text you want (using your favorite image editor). Of course then it'll show on the normal home/launcher as well. But a short "Belongs to John Doe, (555) 555-5555" towards the bottom-center should work.
just found WidgetLocker Lockscreen. I havent tried it yet but I guess you can put widgets on the lock screens so I can put a note there with all this information...worth a try

[Q] How to launch Voice Search using headset while screen locked?

Jelly Bean introduced headset controls which allowed Play/Pause and Next for single and double presses respectively on headsets. I can confirm both these work just fine.
However, the long-press option to launch Voice Search only works while screen is unlocked. When screen is locked, long-press has no effect (it does not even register as a single press)
I tried the following:
1. Disabling Pattern lock (which I mostly use)
2. Turning on screen (but still locked) and then long pressing.
3. Keeping Google Search on in the background and then locking screen.
No luck.
Cannot seem to get any useful info regarding this on the Internet.
There is no point in the voice search shortcut on headsets if the phone has to be dug out from my pocket and unlocked. There has to be a way to bypass that.
Can somebody help??
EDIT: I am also unsure if this is an Android-specific problem or a ROM specific problem, so it would be kind of you if you could test it yourself. You can see my ROM details in the signature. I use Samsung headset in combination with my Nexus 4.
UPDATE: I tried turning off the "Power button immediately locks phone" option and set "Automatically lock phone after sleep" time to 30 minutes. Still the long press doesn't work. It works only after screen is turned on again. Whaaaaa...?!
ANOTHER UPDATE: This issue is present on Google Code but it has been closed without further comments. Please star this issue so that it is noticed by the development team.
Been really frustrated about this as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I'm running Jellybeer 4.0 on SGH i717m
Astounding. I even have to use a third party app to dial by voice reliably. What good is Google's extensive voice technology if you can't use it?
I'm equally as confused. One advantage of owning an iPhone is that you've got an excellent bike companion that could read and reply to texts, make calls, check the time, etc all while keeping my eyes on the road and hands on my handlebars. I always figured my Nexus S didn't do that because I was running a different ROM - but 4.2 on a brand new Nexus.....come on.

the closest thing that i know of is using touch control to swipe to unlock (like pressing the power button) the using NAV RING to swipe the nav ring to google search, or what ever app you like. not sure if this is what you want but it may get you closer.

Here is what appears to be the correct place to file this complaint.

Someone else started the report, I added as well, maybe someone at google will see and fix this oversight.
I have to admit I have wanted to be able to do this for a long time on my motorcycle, being able to press one button and use voice controls would be a god send, although when riding I use an E-Dash app that keeps the screen awake so voice is available.
Still.......would be nice to be able to leave the phone alone, say in a bag or on my hip and use my Bluetooth headset to do all the work

Please check this link
My solution:
1. Download Bluetooth Launch from Play Store
2. Launch, scroll to Google Search and expand it
3. Enable option “com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox.VoiceSearchActivity”
4. close
5. launch Google Now go to Settings -> Voice and enable Bluetooth Headset option
6. connect not working Bluetooth or wired headset and long press button. Dialog should appear and select Bluetooth Launcher always!
7. test if this is the complete solution for you. If it doesnt work properly when screen is locked try following:
- Install Xposed Framework
- go to Downloads and Install "AppSettings"
- open AppSettings and go to Google Search
- Turn On Settings and check "Show when locked"
- save
- restart Phone
If you are having issues with your selected language in Google Now. Also use AppSettings and change Location for Google Search to desired one. Now you should be able to use Google Now in your preferred language.

But Exposed Framework requires your phone to be rooted, which I'm done doing... to much of a pain when it comes time to update
