How to disable bluetooth voice dial?

Does anyone know of anyway to disable bluetooth voice dial? I never use it and I want to use a app that will map my bt buttons to my music player "headset button controller" but bt voice dial always comes up. I have searched around the web and found tons asking but seen nothing on XDA the only thing close I can find is this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=827472 but it really has on tips on how to do it just that you need root any help would be appreciated. Riding season is almost here and I want to control my tunes

If you don't use voice dial at all you can remove the voice dial app with sdx app removal tool but you will have to root to use it. If you search for one click root and unroot it should pop up. I can get you links this evening if you need them.

I'm rooted and on a custom rom thats not the issue I just didnt know how to get it turned off. I have played with the sdx remover will give it a shot Thanks

Well that didnt work. with voice dial removed now when I'm in the music player and hit the button my phone freaks out it doesnt FC but it hangs up eventually goes to the lock screen I can wake it up but the screen does not respond. Also tried holding power before it locked and got reboot etc screen but the touch screen does not work. oh well maybe I wont be getting this function lol

Sorry. Did you restore voice dial with sdx? You could go back to Eclair where there was no bluetooth voice dial
We need better bluetooth controls. I used Top Voice Control and picked that to open when I hit the Bluetooth button and it screwed up so wanted the basic voice dilaer back and had to delete Top Voice to do that.

Ya i was able to restore and its working fine now. I think I will tough it out lol

[Q] Removing Google Now from the home button

I don't have any use for Google Now nor do I use the built-in Google search function and I'm trying to find a way to remove the shortcut thing that pops up when I long-press the home button on the navigation bar. It's actually infuriating the amount of times I pull it up by mistake.
I am running Paranoid Android 2.5 ROM and the navigation bar options specifically states that the home button shortcut can not be changed in those options like the back/recent/menu buttons can.
I have deleted the googlequicksearchbar.apk from the system apps folder and that at least causes it to just bork up and stops it trying to load everything up when I end up selecting Google Now by mistake but it's still a pain in the ass to have that shortcut there.
I've searched around and the only things I found covering this were disabling it on the lockscreen which is different from what I am trying to achieve.
Has anyone had any success on the PA ROM in regards to removing the Google Now shortcut from the Home button?

Which google app is that? There is no Velvet.apk to be found and there's nothing in Titanium Backup's list that I can see that looks like it would be that either. I see google voice search and google search. The latter which is no longer present as I deleted the searchbox apk already.

Lol the Google search app. But I guess u don't wanna do that. Other than that u got no option. Except maybe get an older Google search apk n install,u know from stock ICS gapps? Then u would have Google search n no popup.

Have you tried to disable Google Search app in Settings->Apps?
Worked on my Galaxy Nexus with stock rom.
You'll probably have to kill and restart Launcher process to get rid of the grey bar at the top of the screen.

I don't think you have to do any of that. Go to settings and go to system settings, hardware keys, or navigation. Go to the home button and change it to none.

I've manged to get Google now off the Nexus 7
After hours fiddling I found the answerr
You go into settings, click on app, and then scroll to the reach 'all'
You will see Google Search open it and hit all buttons which cut the cache and another 2 buttons which I d'ont remeber. Anyway click all the buttons there.
Then you will find that where the google search box was there is now a grey block in its place.
Close down the phone, and when you turn it on again the grey box is gone your sexy home page is back!
I really don't undertand the minds of Google Now. The annoying pop notes never told me nothing I needed to know. Google should at least give an easy option to turn the thing off. I fed with things being installed in phones which you can't deleat.

To those wanting to disable search, that's ok, it is your tablet and you can do with it as you like. But, is it really so hard to not hold down the home button? I use search every day multiple times and find it extremely useful. You can turn off any or all cards and even turn off Now and you get the search screen without any cards. If you gave it a fair try you might fine it useful. Others have posted how to disable it, so the OP has his question answered, but I encourage people to learn and use search.

I disable it because I use my nexus for gaming. So I like it keep my background processes to a minimum. I can only assume others do it for much the same reason. If you don't use it why have it running?

You can kinds of disable it using SwipeLaunch Disabler.

Go to settings,apps, all, scroll down to Google+ and disable it.
That will just show the "old google search" when you use the home button.
If you want it back go to playstore search Google+ and enable it.

My question is, is there a way to add shortcuts to that menu?

Maybe replace it with this: Home Button Launcher
You can add shortcuts and it's Open Source.

I'm using Paranoid Android v2.50 on my Samsung GS3... I found it irritating that sometimes I would hit the "menu" button too long on my phone by accident (normally when it was in landscape view) and that would bring up the Google Search page every time... here is what to do:
1) Head to "Settings" > "Interface" > "System" > "Hardware keys"
2) Tick "Enable custom actions", the options below will light up for you to edit.
3a) In my case, I had to edit "Menu key (long press)" and set it to "No action"
3b) In your case it would be "Home key (long press)" and then set that to "No action".
That will stop the Google Search feature popping up when you accidentally hold the button down too long

I think that is okay to learn how to use it, but for me it is a bit annoying everytime I play MinecraftPE. The proximity of down button and home button is so close that I always end up presing home button then search pops out. I am on stock rom 4.1.1 device with soft keys and notification all bundled up.

Bluetooth headset: How to open Google Now rather than Voice Dialer (It's terrible)?

My Jabra headset activates VD rather than Google Now's more advanced search when held down. How can I change this default?

You are using cm 10.1 I'm guessing since that comes with voicedialer by default. Go into settings then apps and find voice dial under ALL and just disable it. It should default to Google now then. Either that or do what I do and delete it from the zip before I flash

Interesting: I now get a different, newer voice dialer, but still a VD. Iit got a long googlebar across the top and reads "Voice Search" in the center of a full screen with the directive: Say Call and say someone's name. Which app is this launching from?

I found an app that almost works on a non-rooted phone called Bluetooth Launch. The program has not been updated in quite some time. It is a simple program with two parts, one screen to select the activity to be assigned and a second screen to pick which button to assign, for example one long press. When I run the app I am not able to bring up the menu to select which button to assign the activity to. I am able to reassign the default button to the app and I have it calling Google Search...voicesearchactivity. It will for the most part bring up Google Now. However, sometimes it fails to do anything and sometimes it brings up GN but with the mic turned off. At the moment the headset is used to stream and answer calls. The voice dialer is painfully slow, so gets little use. Google Now and a BT headset would be a good fit, odd that there is no support.

Works well, but you have to know to go into app settings, and disable the default activity for Google Search. Otherwise Bluetooth Launch never gets a chance.

For some reason, I can now double tap home button and I get the option for S-voice or Google voice. I think I cleared the defaults in app settings.

Yeah I got this too. It happened after I installed SoundHound.
Now I have the options of
Google
S Voice
SoundHound

Interesting but without the option to activate gvoice with screen off its not a huge benefit. I tested open mic+ but it lacks admin rights to bypass the lockscreen etc.

You mean root permissions?

Sorry, I was wrong. I thought S-Voice is able to bypass a pin lockscreen but it isn't. It is only admin (not root) to allow the screen off command.
The problem of open mic+ is, that it is buggy. It seems to freeze after a short time. Sometimes Google Now freezes as well so I think it is because of Open Mic+ but I didn't tested it enough to verify it. S-Voice seems to be more stable, but is not present if you are in other apps like Maps.
But both systems are too weak in rights. e.g. I'm not able to stop apps (ok root would be needed), not able to say my lockscreen pin, stop a phone call, etc.

Tasker
I just had an idea: it should be possible to create a very simple tasker action, which would be triggered by opening s-voice. It would exit s-voice and switch immediatelly to Google Voice Search. This should work even without rooting.
If this would work, all the convenient ways to start S-Voice would become actually useful to start Google Voice search, including voice-wake, home-double-click, headset-long-press.
I will try this as soon as I get my N3

There's the point! Okay, without root we can just switch away (would mic input focus stay? that would be a problem), with root it should be possible to kick s-voice too.

If one app opens the mic the other will display an error.

I am happy to report, that the solution I came up with before I had access to the Note 3 works without a hitch.
1. Enable wake-up hotword detection in S-Voice (keep double click Home if you like that too)
2. Create "S Voice" app-triggered tasker profile
3. The activated task should load "Voice Search"
4. Optional step: after starting voice search, my task also kills S-Voice to save memory
(and killing s-voice every time makes you me good)
There is no concurrency problem with the mic (as we were anticipating)
Say "Hi galaxy" while having the screen turned off
(I actually like to "say Die galaxy")
phone wakes up,
home screen unlocks,
s-voice flashes on screen for half a sec (beeps too)
then google voice search appears immediately
it too beeps and listens for the search term or command
Next project: it would be nice to be able to change the "hi galaxy" wake up command

The changeable wake up command is part of the Galaxy S4 S-Voice so I think it will be part in the Note 3 in one of the next updates (hopefully).
Of course I tested your idea, too. But it seems that it works better with Llama than with Tasker as Google Voice starts immediately. As I'm not rooted its not as perfect as yours (I need to tap backwards fast to bypass restarting Google Voice), but the goal is reached

So I'm having 3 seconds to close S Voice before Google Voice would start again.
If you don't want to here the "ping" sound of S Voice after closing Google Voice it would be possible to mute the device for 3 seconds as well, but I don't think this is really important

the note does the transition across to google now/voice commands very quickly.. you have put the note back on the table as an option for my next phone.. im just holding out to see if the LG G2 will use the S800 for always on listening when it gets kitkat..

I'm having one problem left. But I think its because of Llamas limited amount of triggers. The problem is: Google Voice is not able to receive the next command while its open. Instead S Voice waits for the next "Hello Galaxy". To bypass this problem I tried to switch off the display automatically. This works, but only with a fixed delay as I'm not able to trigger "last touch/last talk + 10 seconds" with Llama.
Would this work with Tasker (and without Root)?
The next option would be to activate "Open Mic+" as long Google Voice is open. But I did not tested if this would work.

Well we can set the display timeout to 15sec, then restore the default (it's 30 sec for me because of smart stay) when google voice search disappears.
Because of the 30 sec display timeout it hasn't been much of a problem for me, but I was also wondering how to get it to prompt for a next question.
Curious: why doesn't the "ok, google" hotword work in google now? I've just tested the google experience launcher and hot word detection doesn't work in there either.

I'm using this setup (after 20 seconds display is turned off) and this is not good if you press the microphone button. Then the display switches off, too. So we need an additional "on touch" condition to avoid that.

Okay, then set the display timeout to 15sec, wait 15sec then set it back to whatever it used to be. Then if the screen was touched (and the display timeout extended) then it will stay on...
I hope to be able to test these with tasker in the afternoon

Little did I know that the same could be done with my Nexus 5. Just head to the Settings on the Google Now page at the bottom, then tap on "voice". From there, tap "OK Google detection". Afterwards you just have to train your voice 3 times and can now have the ability to activate Google now fro. Anywhere, including while the phone is sleeping, if you check the lock screen activation box. From there, you should now be able to use Google now from the lock screen without having to press the power button or from any application throughout your Nexus 5 or device that is running the Google Now Launcher. :good:

also to use the "while sleeping" feature the device must be plug into a power source

Theres already a thread for this, and its hardly useful unless you enjoy battery drain.
