Hi!
I have just seen this amazing program.
http://www.smithmicro.com/default.tpl?group=product_full&sku=QLMCWXX
To see photo, video and play music.
Bad news, we have to pay if we want to see it.
I am searching but...no free?
Do you like??
I want it!! free, of course.
$30? LOL
I'll wait until someone on this site codes a clone for free.
Nice stuff though.... but not nice enough to shell out $30.
well, you should brake into a car or someone's house and steal their phones. maybe someone has it on their device....
...so stupid.

It is pretty stupid that they don't offer a free trial download to try it out. I'm definitely not going to pay $30 for something that I don't even know what it's like. No thank you.

Maybe its because they don't want people to rip off their product without paying for it.

i don't know about this "revue software" and the description of what it does is not very clear to me, but i have tested another tool that does the same thing (i suppose. i'm french so my english is not perfect) named trakax on a htc vox and it seemed fairly good for a slow device (200 cpu) and non-tactile.
it should be very cool on a decent pdaphone with good cpu.
go here : http://www.trakax.com/software/mobile/
it costs 30 again, but you have a free demo to test it.

I agree, it may be difficult, but when you see someone asking for a copy of a retail piece of software on here, insisting they have it for free, (as if that's a right), then find a near identical request on a warez site asking for the crack for the same software, its not difficult to see where that activity would lead to if we all took that stance.
WB
I don't have a problem paying for the apps that we use on our devices and i'm willing to pay a whole helluva' lot more but we should @ least have the trial option to see if it's worth it or even if its compatible with our devices. Most developers give you that trial because they stand by their product and they know it'll sell itself once the word gets out, so maybe them not giving a trial offer says something about their product. Just my opinion.
I've done trials of and loved:
Resco Exlorer
Memmaid
AEButton
Ultimate Launcher
Vito Screen Capture
Phone Weaver
...And paid for:
Resco
Memaid
AEButton
UL
Vito
Phone Weaver
It wouldn't even occur to me to use a cracked copy. Weird since I've used warez for some windows PC software, but being on a forum like this you see how the programmers are good people, just like me (only smarter) and it puts a face to the theft and I wouldn't consider doing it. Now I don't do cracked stuff for PC software either. I guess its part of growing up.
Anyway, I think there are a lot of ppl like me that if they like a trial they will be HAPPY to buy it.
I have just found this video!
Hi
I found a video of Revue.
It seems to be fantastic even with an application to manage the files with the PC!
http://my.smithmicro.com/wireless/revue/Revue324_121807_OffLn.wmv
I want to test this program for my HTC Touch, but I can´t download it from anywhere.
Anyone has this program?
Can you tell me if it is fast and useful?
Anyone knows where can I download Revue?
Thank YOU ALL
I just took a quick glance at the site you listed and looks like something I used to use on my Palm, I think you can use this for free, don't completely remember, but know I never paid for it. I remember now, you have to keep your pc online and you can access it for free, think that was the deal, and you had to pay to store your files online to access them while your pc was offline.
Anyway to the point its Avvenu, check it out.
Log Me In may be the same.

So is this basically streaming media from your computer but with lots of organization options?
How is it not like Orb?
It is a finger friendly software just like iphone to see media on our pocketpc.
Hello.
I have a week to present my homework, an app for WM5/WM6.
Description:
Two screens.
Screen one: a Calendar showing one month and arrows to move to other months. And a button to take you to screen two.
Scrren two: a list of whatever (let say, accesories for X7501 currently on stock) that feeds of a DB. And a button to go back to screen one.
So basically is creating a DB (item, stock) and a calendar.
I would need you to give me:
1. The code with commentaries (*/this is the button to change month*/ etc).
2. Your paypal account
Who can do it? For how much?
Thanks!
dude that is so cheating. why you gonna pick building an app for wm if you dont even know how to build one.
Hello.
1. The teacher was not supposed to ask that of us.
2. I know how to make an app, but not that one. I can make basic stuff, like coin toss, dice roll, among other stuff. I could learn to program that, but I do not have time, I sleep like 4 hours a day... learning to do that would mean 10 hours.... I don't have 10 hours.
3. I'm not going to live by making apps for WM.
4. Somebody could use some extra dollars. And some might even enjoy building that.
I don't think it's such a bad Idea.
Well.... once again, any one can help me with that simple app?
Regards.
Maybe you should've started this a lot longer before the deadline? I can't really poke holes given that I had to do a 3 minute composition (for my music GCSE) in one night...

l3v5y:
It was set on wednesday 16.
And I have until monday 28th...
There's no "lot longer before deadline". If there is, it is now, we have time.
I'm not going to argue the other 4 points.
------------------------
All:
I'm asking for help, and expecting replies about "I can help" or "here's this links that will help" or a Private Message with something along those lines.
I know you can reply with "that's wrong", but could you please not obstaculize?
And could you please not reply with "it's better for you to learn" because it's not and you do not particularly care about me learning to build a DB or a calendar.
And it's not like I'm a greedy student who offers $5 or $10 USD. It's a job and it's better paid.
Once again.... anyone that might be kind enough to help?
Regards.
I'm curious as to how much you're willing to pay. A low-level code monkey can probably get $20/hr. You're better off looking at how tene implemented PCM calendar (or similar).
huh? http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/obstaculize
Sorry, English is not my first language.... I meant something like "not-help", not as much as deter, restrain, discourage... just like being an obstacale...
I'll prefer to let the programmer set the price for the job done, not by the hour of course... and then we'll talk about it.
But probably it will be way more than $20 per hour of real efficient work.
Go download eMbedded Visual Basic from the MS Website:
Not that I want to discourage developers getting money, but the fact is, the two things you are discussing (Forms and calendar) are already available as code samples in eMbedded Visual Basic. Most, if not all developers know this...
So basically, if your teacher doesn't understand that making this project is as simple as writing your own name, than it won't matter whether you cheat or not. Besides, you will still have to make the program yourself, even with the two code samples.
The calendar is called DateTimePicker
And from memory, the page sample is just called Form
Hope This Helps
This is just a Test to show you what i have made..if this is the kinda stuff you want..send me the details for the About page
NOTE : This requires Internet Connection to be activated before Starting the application
See attached
Jadel:
Well now there's some help. It actually got me started with the calendar and the app itself.
You can watch progress here http://www.tech-medellin.com/TempUploads/advance.wmv
Ather90:
And that's even better. More like I was hoping for, unfortunately I lost hope with first replies and started myself.
Any way, perhaps you could help me with accesories. I've watched what you did and it's great, but not what I'm looking for... although I could add it...
The teacher asked for a database stored in the app (not updatable nor modificable by user). A list must be created based on the DB. I would fill it with data (I actually sell devices and accesories)
Can you help with that? For how much?
Thanks!
im sorry but i dnt know a thing abt Databases
I will give you the source code..its coded in VS 2008 Pro
You can get some info abt Db here http://www.codeproject.com/KB/database/
Thanks a lot!
I have almost finished my app.
Actually two of them I had forgotten there was a second one.
(sorry for not replaying until today)
Happy to hear it's alsmost done

Hi all. Sorry to double post, but I had to change the name of Split the Bill (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2837265#post2837265)to Fuzzy Bill Splitter as Split the Bill already exists as commercial software !! (www.jampaq.com/splitbill.htm)
I have never developed for windows mobile before so thought I would try it.
Made a little app that helps you split the bill at a restaurant.
Not pretty, and probably not that good, but hey I find it handy.
The idea is you fill in the Bill, the gratuity and the number of people to split it by and it gives you an amount that each should pay. This is rounded up to make sure you pay at least the bill + the gratuity.
Anyway, take a look, you may like you may not
No installer, just unzip and run. Only tested on a Touch so no idea what it will work on.
Needs .net 2 framework though.
Click to collapse
So in honour of the new name I add a new requested alteration!
The default calculation now favours the punter not the restaurant. Basically where it would always make sure you paid at least the bill plus the gratuity, now it pays the closest to it with out making you pay more.
If you feel bad you can now go to the menu and click "Round Up" to make sure that the full gratuity is paid plus a bit!
Still working on themes though!!
Doenst work.
If i tell it to Split 20,06 between 6 people it says 3,34 each..wich is bull**** and not 20,06.

well... you're right. but
20.06 / 6 = 3.3433333333333333333333333333...
and 3.34 * 6 = 20.04
meaning it will be a leak of 2 cents. But if you make
3.35 * 6 = 20.1
then you will be with 6 cents more. So the question is the following :
- will you make money on the back of your friends and keeping the 4 cents for you ?
- will you offer them 2 cents ?
- can anyone of your friends (or you) support the team in offering those 2 cents ?
- can two persons of your friends (with or without you) support the team in offering each 1 cent ?
- can you imagine given those 4 cents to the waitress ?
else, there is a solution: download the freeware "Spin the Bottle" and so you will be able to choose a volunteer to pay those 2 cents !
Anyways, the software can inform you that the results of the multiplication of the given infos (result of divider) is not exactly the same... or, at least, indicating the upper result, rounded, and writing that the addition of all parts is greater than the bill and that what remain will be for the waitress...
I dont care about friends. Im looking for a programm to use in accounting to tell me how i can divide in such situations. So i thought if someone programmed a bill splitter it would tell me "4 times 3,34 € and 2 times 3,35 €" since there are no half cents in reality. Obviously i'm expecting to much....i mean whats the use of it...a caluator can do that..how can you tell it bill splitter if it doenst split but is a dumb calculator..
wheres the thanks button?? ah well thanks for the app

I'll pay for these apps as long as they are actually good and registered to the phone and not the phones name - im sick of not being able to change my BT name without apps not working

Well, when you get the marketplace you will feel the urge to buy all of them , no matter how useless they are. I prefer searching for my favourite app online and buying it from the developer. Addiction to apps should be announced officialy as a dangerous disease
LOL at the BT name part . I feel your pain .
Ive noticed apps on the Market that says, FREE (with ADS) and also PAID / Pro Version of the same app (for a fixed price lets say £3.00)
Now ive noticed the count on download apps for a app that is £3 to be 250.000 > downloads ... which means £750.000 has been paid into the market just from this single app ?????
How much would the developer of this app see from the £750.000 that has been made? And am I also right that ADS on their software also let the developer gain money??
Seems to me you can earn a lot of money for a well populated app... ???
You answered your own question. Developers SELL (obtain money for their product) their apps. Free apps that include ads, the developer also gets money. It's just like youtube videos.
Surely Google must take commision as well??
Yeah, that's the goal
But face it, people are cheap...even for a $0.99 app! And that "super duper, can't live without it app" is all so elusive.
So developers will put out a limited or crippled version of their app for free in hopes that people will buy the full version.
Oh yeah Google takes their cut; it's pro-rated on the number of app sales you have.
Lookiing closely at other apps and focasing on one partiuclar app called Fotmob which I have purchased. It is a really good app that is for any football supportors out their giving details of a list of attributes such as, Live Scores - Fixtures - News - and Table..... Its probably the best football application Ive bought.
Now focasing on a a certain point on the development part of the app
1) Live Score's ... Gives a list of live playing games and their score line next to it. - Am curious on where the data comes from? Surely it isnt edited As games are played because that would be practically impossible to keep up to date therefore it must use a similar command such as a Fetch_arrey syntax. Now where would the user of FOTMOB Fetch the data from?? it must be a reliable known source such as BBC SPORTS / SKY SPORTS to keep its app up-to-date during the live games??
Is that right?

It's not as black and white as that.
Firstly, you'd have to be an brilliant developer to get 250k+ downloads from a paid app. If you see an app like that, 9 times out of 10 it will be a company, not a single developer.
Secondly, 250k downloads is the amount of times an app has been downloaded, not the amount of times people have paid for it. e.g., around 40% of those downloads will be from people who refunded.
and lastly, Google take a ridiculous amount of money from you for each sale.
For example, my app sells for £2.00, but google takes £0.60 of that. It might not seem like a lot but it mounts up quickly.
So, 250k downloads isn't as much as you think if you start to look into it (but, it's still a hell of a lot for a single developer to get!!)
Well said Mellus.
And some of these so-called "great" apps are just fancy front ends pulling data off the net or a RSS feed.
As you might gather, I do not have a lot of respect for "this" (or "self"...programmer humor) type of developer.
P.S. if you don't get the programmer humor, "self" is Mac Objective C's "this" pointer.

You make $1,500 off how many apps? How many installs. Free apps or paid?
Also, could someone comment on what's required to get started? I know there's a $25 dev fee, and I've read all the help text on the publish site.
What do most devs do for a website to link to in the market? Does Google offer anything? Use Go Daddy? What?
What do you use to create the graphics required for the market?
Other tips?

Yeah I'm just getting into app development as well. I've currently got an ADWTheme out on the market for $0.99, and I make ~$0.69 per sale. There is really a ton of potential for profit if you get into individual app development as long as you can make stuff that people want. When I first released my theme I was making ~$10 a day off of it. after a month or so it's died down to ~$2.5 - $5 daily, but another factor is that I haven't updated it in a while haha. If you can manage to keep all of your apps up-to-date and appealing, you will do well.
If you are really interested in developing applications for android I would recommended watching these videos: http://marakana.com/techtv/android_bootcamp_screencast_series.html They've seriously helped me out a LOT getting off the ground

I would recommend Adobe Illustrator more than Photoshop for making graphics, at least it's what I prefer.
1. Make it look pretty
2. Make it fart
Yeah, nice LOL. Hey, if it sells, it sells. Wish I could write an app that sells thousands
I'm only a few months into development though, so it's "learn something new everyday" process. As the coding skills build, so will the quality of the apps....and hopefully sales.
Applications based on RFID concept?
Please allow me to ask if how much will it take for a developer on a full time basis to create an application that would run on both android and windows mobile.
This will be for a RFID concept

Don't know why it's so difficult to answer a simple question.
70% goes to the developer, the remaining 30% is distributed to the cell carrier (if the carrier is authorized to receive fees for apps purchased on the market.)
Wikipedia explains it in such a way that even the most simple minded of folk can understand. It sounds like a few of you should read up on that, as opposed to providing vague, meaningless "answers".
