Hello Guys!
Do you think it's possible to realize an Android porting on our HP 91x?
I will really love it! There are some Android based device with front built-in keyboard such as Acer e130 and Motorola Charm.
Anyone knows something about it?
So guys no one is interested in it?
Porting Android to WinMo device is not as easy as you might think.
Process is long and time-consuming and most likely there will be NO Android for 900 series iPAQs.

Hi i already posted this on Android Community forum...but i think this must be more appropriate place...so does anybody has any info if it is possible to install the Android OS to a smartphone other than the one that comes with one?
Is it possible to lets say install the Android OS (Linux) to samsung hd i8910, that has symbian OS? Somehow change the firmware to the one with Android? What obstacles exist that this has not been done yet?

one thing would be drivers.
is it possible to install Android OS on Acer E200 which comes with Windows Mobile 6.5? what are the tools to build the custom Rom?
Ok the drivers...that is major..is anyone doing something similar like writing the new drivers?
Takes a lot of time, knowledge and work to build drivers from scratch to different processors.Reasearch teams take months....
Even for qualcomm processors, because OS´s use it in a somewhat diferent way and is coded in the processor itself...thats what i understood for what i read...might be totally wrong i dont understand nothing about that.
Emulation is possible but it wont be the same...laggy,clutered,buggy,etc.

I would highly doubt it, but it's always possible.

Here on XDA, Android has successfully been ported to the HTC Vogue (HTC Touch). Progress is going along rapidly on the Raphael, Diamond, and Blackstone. I don't know about any ports to Symbian phones though, XDA is oriented more towards WinMo.
There might be ports going on to Symbian phones, but there probably won't be much information on any Symbian devices here.
But yes, it is possible to port Android to another smartphone, it just requires a LOT of elbow work.
EDIT: Found this forum, it might interest you. People talking about Android on the i8910 http://forums.samsungi8910omnia.com...-cooked-roms/6239-android-1-6-i8910hd-19.html
Well its always nice to hear, that there is somebody doing something..like you guys here on xda. In the case of i8910 it is the matter of the pure hardware..and type of phone..that is very high end..and cannot be compared with phones of HTC type...not yet..i guess the speed, the capacitive touch screen..processor..camera..only bad thing is sucky symbian..
Hi guys,
I am an Acer beTouch e101 phone owner. It runs windows mobile 6.5 and i would like to dual boot it with android.I know we can dual boot these two OS in many or almost every HTC handsets, but would like to know if thats possible with Acer beTouch.Tried the XdAndroid Haret and it boots but crashes before i can see something Android. Thanks in advance.
Yes I have the same phone, the Acer E101 betouch, would like to dual boot android on it like done on other windows mobile HTC handsets..
Before you can use Android, let alone dual boot it, you actually have to have a working port of Android. XDAndroid has only been ported to some devices, all of which are MSM7xxx based devices made by HTC. Unless someone ports Android to the Acer beTouch, it won't run on the beTouch.
Thanks for replying buddy. Can someone here help me in porting it to this phone?

I would love to find out if there is actually one for this phone. I can also move with the hype of mobile phone software and apps. SO I if you read this post. there is no port for the acer I have looked over the web. I have had enough of looking for it. BUT want that little OS system running on this light pda. with out having to buy a ANDROID phone from a networked retailer. Thank you for you reading time, and help us poor Acer users who dont have this ANDROID usability.

No, unfortunately no one ever finished developing a working android/linux port. They got as far as getting android to boot, and get the touch screen somewhat functional I think, but never got any further, so it's pretty much unuasable.
It's a shame, too. This would be a great device to run Ubuntu or Android off of... this device was way ahead of it's time. It wasn't too popular when it first came out because many people saw it as too big, but if it was released nowadays with the same design, but more current processor, etc and running android, I'm sure it would be very popular. A tablet/phone with attachable keyboard... it was an awesome concept.
If we could get the Athena into the hands of some of the developers that are porting linux to the HD2, Rhodium, Kaiser, etc, I'm sure they could get a good port going on it after some work... but I don't think any of the devs capable of porting it own the athena, or are interested in putting in all the time.
A good linux kernel and android port would give this device a second life... make people interested in it again... but I'm losing hope in it happening. In fact, I've come into hard financial times recently, so I'm trying to sell my X7501. I really hate doing it, but I just don't use it anymore and can't find a reason to keep it other than I think it's a really cool, unique device. So if anyone's interested in a X7501 in almost perfect condition, with a bunch of accessories, send me a pm. I'll probably throw it on ebay if I don't find anyone here at xda within the next few days.
Thanks for the update
Think I'll keep my x7500 for a bit to play on it, maybe get it to run WM6.5 (its 5 at the mo) then pass it on!
Do fancy a UMPC with Linux on though!
Hey,
After playing around with the Xperia Arc system dump, I am interested in learning how to port some of the applications to other android devices. I thought maybe some of them would work on at least the X10, but apparently not.
I've seen success stories on people porting over the Droid X Multitouch keyboard to nearly every other android device.
I'm just wondering how this is done? Can anyone provide some insight/knowledge on the matter?
Thanks!
buump, anyone?
would be very much interested in the same !
me too!! im wondering how to port apps

Hi guys,
I just wonder if an Android ROM for LG Quantum will be available soon? The phone comes with Windows Phone 7 and I just can't live with it.
Thank you.
I have not seen or heard of one. I personally do not think it will happen as the lg quantum is not one of the more popular wp7 models. Also there is the fact that you can pretty much buy a phone with android on it with just about any hardware config already.
Miss the good 'ol WM days....
There having trouble porting it to the iphone 4. I wonder how hard it would be to get it on this hardware.
not sure if anyone's even tried, or if anyone that's capable even has a quantum. I sure am though and would be willing to help!
Edit: Well from what i understand WM won't be running on the quantum as the drivers for the compatible hardware aren't cross compatible between wp7 and wm6.5. however i've heard mention of people attempting to run 6.5 executables and such (un-sandboxed apps), if that's possible maybe we can boot using haret or something similar. then again though they would have to take a special interest in getting android running on the device, and it doesnt seem like many have much interest in it....
first step is someone running unsigned apps on the device using some hack or possibly something enabling it in the mango update
hey guys! hope u'd be doing great
im a new bee over here and was about to post a new thread with same discussion this thread having,so i feel better to post here than to create a new thread.
anyway, i have also purchased LG Quantum (c900B) and i am feeling very very restricted like im bound with it, @
i was wondering windows phones can have andriod installed on devices, and i was looking for andriod ROM for this stupid phone
any help ?
or shud i buy another phone :'( ?
please suggest..
Also waiting for Quantum Android
I am eagerly waiting for the LG quantum android ROM as early as possible.
It's doubtful that android will ever be brought over to the LG quantum. It is a low activity device and so far no one has gotten android on a WP7. By the time they get it all figured out or anyone cares enough, the quantum will be old news.
To make this short. Want android? Buy an android phone because you'll be waiting a long time if not forever.

Well,
hardware is VERY capable of Android (same as a Sony Xperia Mini Pro or so...) but the bootloader will never allow you to run Android.
Would be like use diesel gasoline on a standard car...
