So my phoneuse to have the H sign all the time and use to rarely swapt between H and E where I live. But now after the update I'm mostly on edge and rarely swapts to H. And if the download speeds where low before the update you don't even want to know them now. Is just horrible low way worst than before the update SMH what is going on?

The manual says that in addition to the H and E icons that appear above the up/down data arrows, there's a 3G icon. Has anyone seen the 3G appear? I'm either on H or E, but have not seen 3G on this phone. I'm thinking H will appear for both 3G and 4g/hsdpa+. Is there any way to tell which you're really on?
I have yet to see it. I'm always either on E or H.

I also caught a quick glimpse of a G today right after I woke the phone up, but it quickly went to E. I guess the H is for both 3G and 4G/HSDPA+...kind of sucks that there's no easy way to differentiate between those two imo. I'm guessing they did that on purpose, so that people wouldn't realize how much of the time they are really only getting 3G speeds on this '4G' phone.
On that note, I've been running speedtest and generally only getting around .5-.6 mbps d/l around the house. While driving to a few places around the city (Kansas City) today, I did get up to a max of 4 mbps, but mostly more like 2-3 mbps. Are these reasonable real-world speeds?
i was gonna say yes until i realized you had a . in front of your 5/6... idk but too me thats really low, my nexus one which wasnt 4g used to get 5-6mbs here in LA

When I first got the Galaxy Tab on T-mobile it only said 3g and never switched to the "H" icon.. After updating to what I believe is the latest Baseband/modem firmware, I now notice there's a 1ish maybe longer delay where the Tab switches from the 3g setting to the H setting and then starts to pull data.. This is really annoying.
When the Tab was stock a while back, it stayed on 3g and I didn't notice any lag when it started to pull data.. And both are getting the same speeds before and after the Baseband upgrade.. 3g versus "H" mode.. no difference, seen both pull 5 meg down and 2-3 meg up every now and then..
So i'm left to deal with a data-switch protocol lag or something now? Is anybody hosting the original baseband so I can go back to the old, fast one?
Same thing here. I first noticed it a couple months back when i went to jk5. Its been doing it ever since, and yes, the lag is annoying. Wish there was a fix for it.

Isn't 3g and H the same speed?

Yes it should be.. but there's still a delay for the icon to switch from 3g to H.. like 1.5 seconds..

There will always be a delay. The switch is when the radio picks up the hspa data signal versus 3g. Hspa is faster. I would not worry. Second what tmobile firmware was updated? I am following but not aware of any updates.

Updated my phone (VZW LG G2) to the latest software patch that went out recently (Dec 20/21?) and now my phone will default to 3G service more often than 4G LTE. My home gets very strong LTE service and I could speedtest up to 20mbps at times on it. After I updated, however, my phone will connect to 3G about 90% of the time. Rarely does it connect to LTE. This isn't just at my home, so I don't think it's a local tower issue as I've had the same problem in town as well.
Has anyone else encountered a problem with LTE connectivity after updating to VS98012B?
edit: If I switch on airplane mode and then turn it off, sometimes it will switch back to LTE.
Flashed modem only here, no problems.
If you are still on pure stock, call Verizon and let them address it for you.
I've been searching for this problem as well. My wife's HTC One is sitting beside my G2 Rick solid on LTE, and mine is stuck on 3g. This only seems to happen in the house, so maybe hers just gets a better signal than the G2. On the rare occasion I do get lte, my speed tests are always much slower than hers. I know it's not an lte problem because out in town with a stronger signal I can get about 40 Mb d/l

Yup, I have the same issue after upgrading to vs98012B. Mine is rooted by the way.

I'm not seeing this problem. In fact, it's the opposite for me. I'm rooted and didn't want to go through the hassle of losing my custom recovery, so I waited until a stock, rooted version of 12B released. I flashed it as well as the corresponding 12B modem zip. I live in a fringe LTE area and it was not uncommon for me to see 3G in my house. Since the upgrade I've only been seeing LTE. I'm very happy with this update.
I've noticed today seems like I'm stuck on 3g

What's up your fantastic XDA people. As the title says , my Moto X keeps constantly switching between Network types. One minute it's fine and dandy on LTE and then it'll just randomly switch to H, and then to 3G or from H back to LTE. Does it randomly at any time of the day and also might even just lose LTE connection altogether momentarily and then it comes back after a second or two.
Running Stock Android 5.1.1 with no custom kernel or anything modified. Thanks plenty
Ive been having similar problems modified or stock still does it
Beginning to wonder if it's a widespread issue for Tmobile users and if it gets fixed with the MM update later this week.
