Hulu on vibrant - Vibrant General

So I tried installing hex edited flash apk from the evo forums to see if it would work on the vibrant and either I'm installing it wrong or there is a vibrant specific one that I can't find...so does anyone know how to make the hex edited flash apk work for the vibrant or can you direct me to the correct apk? Thanks in advance.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App

people were installing the evo version a while back (I actually have it on my phone) but it turned out not to work as full flash on the vibrant, (Theres a thread on it somewhere, I could find it for you if you like) it basically still is just flash light. (although a few people said it made flash not work at all) so in short, so far we still have to wait for Froyo unfortunately, there is as of yet, no full flash for the vibrant.

The apk looks for permissions that are only in froyo builds. You can flash one of Eugene's froyo roms and make it work though.

I tried using the files found at this link:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8132408&postcount=1 I was only able to get the Hulu app running, but it won't launch in the browser. BTW, don't try flashing the HuluFix.zip file, as it's for the Evo. You will have to push the libraries through ADB with the instructions given. The problem, I believe, is the browser because it doesn't have the UA String setting.

/system dump of new Google/HTC phone running flan

Got a chance to play around with this today. Pics of the phone and system dump below.
This is NOT an update.zip, but it can be used to build one in capable hands. So don't go sucking my bandwidth please!

awesome!
If it helps I uploaded it over at

Nexus One Dump?
I'm a little surprised this isn't up here yet. There is a dump floating around rumored to be Nexus One. You can find it at AndroidSPIN.com.
Has anyone poked around at all?
It's right where it should be in the Development and Hacking > Android software development forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=600190
I've had a quick look through this and found some interesting files.
Most notably, something called 'GenieWidget.apk'.
When are non blurry camera's going to hit the market? Nice dump though hopefully this will get ported to the Behold II....*cough*
like @wpbcubsfan said there is already a topic about that in the right section : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=600190

Do you try to push the apk in another device or do you think it 'll need some modification of some files ?

They need to be resized and odexed or whatever so it can run on your G1/mytouch or whichever you have. Theres this script in the G1 section that does deodexes or something.
Ace is right. The sizes are to big for dreams and magics. is there even a way to resize the files? also, custom roms are going to become harder now that there are different sizes for phones, but im guessing cyanogen is going to make roms for the neXus
aw, i was kinda hoping that this would be in a .img format so we can load it up and play with it in the emulator
SDK Emulator
Is there anyway I can take this dump and use it in the SDK emulator?
to devs: FIRST ONE TO PORT ISNT A ROTTEN EGG!
Yes, this is the Nexus One.
The boot animation works without modification on the Droid.
Could anyone provide boot.img also
Our guys have been trying to push some of the apk's but not had any luck so far. Has anybody got any apk's from this onto any other build yet?
I tried with my phone and the emulator, but I am a newb. Most of the new apks require Android 2.1 by the way.
if you tried the same method of installing the new maps fex week ago? they modify a file to let G1 thought it was on 2.0 kernel or 1.6 don't remember (system or settings files don't remember) after that the apk works on G1 and we can find it via the market. ask MLIGN he made the change.

Market Fix for rom cooks

In your build.prop change your fingerprint to
Code:
ro.build.fingerprint=verizon/voles/sholes/sholes:2.1-update1/ESE81/29593:user/release-keys
This will allow a full market.
To test: search for 'us bank' in the market, if only 2 apps show up, your not getting the full market.
This is the fingerprint off the Motorola Droid.
can the PROP file be edited, updated in the archive and re-signed and flashed without error, with current ROMs?

Don't see why not. Non eris roms may need more work, wait for my apk to do that.
jcase, correct me if I'm wrong but this market fix would be cancelled out by the JIT flash, since it updates the build.prop file.
might need to update the prop in the JIT flash if anyone wants to keep the full market.
again, please correct me if I'm wrong
How would you implement this in ahero / legend rom? I added the line abover to replace the one saying it was sprint but that didnt do the trick. Thanks.

I was trying to build this into a rom. i ported one from the hero cdma boards to learn my way around. it is working minus a few bugs but wanted to build this in ahead of time. any help would be great.

Flash 10.1 on eris?

I am kind of a noob so please forgive me if this post is in the wrong place, or if there is another post that addresses this.
Are there any roms working for the eris that have a working version of flash 10.1? I would love to be able to watch hulu on my phone.
Not yet that I'm aware.
Your only chance is in a froyo rom, if your running one and it doesn't have it then no.
I believe part of the problem is the flash libraries are written for processors that are newer than the Eris, so until a dev rewrites the libraries to work with a lower processor, which would be difficult, I don't see it happening.
Could be wrong though
BTW just for reference this post should be in the general section

I have heard that because the stock eris rom can run flash lite, it is possible for it to run full flash it is just a matter of fixing the code. xtrSENSE supposedly has working flash 10 as an added flash-able zip file, but it doesn't work. Anyway, I hope someone gets this figured out because it would be awesome. Thanks.

try this. only works with sense based roms tho. no Froyo =(

Flash 10.1 works on 2.1. It's just a matter of it being able to load in time before server determines it fails..( hence the reason why hulu/fancast dont work)
Look for my posts in the link above, you should be able to get it to work.
There are two releases for the flash 10.1. One for phones running on 2.1 and ones running 2.2. I have the KaosFroyo v39 on my droid eris and tried the flash plugin for 2.2 but it wouldn't install. I downloaded the flash plugin for 2.1 and it installed. I heard the 10.1 plugin for the 2.2 works on the newer droid phones that received the original froyo updates. i can't verify cause i don't own one.
Since I'm new and cannot put links in my post yet, you are going to have to Google them.
Sorry!
Skyfire Browser
I have found that the Skyfire browser app from the market can play flash. If you are using a 2.2 ROM then I suggest installing this app. On a side note I have read the HULU is note making videos available for mobile browsers. Correct me if I am wrong.
you don't read the posts do you? : p
Skyfire will work with 2.1 & 2.2 w/o any problems.
Yes, Hulu blocks mobile devices.
and yes, our ARM v6 process sucks my ****, but we're still here cuz we love our phones.

at least until the iOS4 is a viable option later this month...
The flash "10.1" is set up.for sense roms. You can install on sense 2.1&2.2. The apk is set up ONLY for sense through.

It'll install but crash your browser. Its not going to work because the developers of flash 10.1 for mobile devices never wrote an "instruction set" for our type of processors, ARM v6.

Custom Roms

What else do we need to start getting some custom roms like CM7 and others like XxVirusxX. What is need to take an AOSP and build it for our Elocity? I recently got and Evo 4g rooted is same day, now running CM7 rom, tiamat kernel, viper undervolt Is it possible to get these to work on this elocity?
its possible to port components and features of other roms, or to compile other roms for the a7. i compiled a clockworkmod recovery that i have posted on my twitter and elsewhere than you can use to conveniently backup/switch/restore roms and data with, which will aid in additional roms being made accessible, as loading them (and recovering from them) will be more convenient.
also gotta good /device setup for the naz10 going for use in rom compiling. mebbe i'll post it up for others when i have it near complete.
How did you get the clockwork mod to flash? Also I'm assuming you finished the key mapping that hadn't been done?

Oo of course, with out a doubt, Im just sitting back waiting for one of these great devs. Hopefully they got something good from the kernel Source
Sent from my Mynized EVo 4G
i might throw my sifted kernel source up for dev types to browse thru. just the added and modified source from elocity, not the whole package, so one can see what elocity did. pretty sure i spotted changed accelerometer settings in the kernel source that could aid in correcting that issue on a kernel level possibly.
i'm still moving slow without adb access. either have some service or kernel reconfiguration to do for that one. too many fun things to do, not enough personal time to get em all done swiftly.

Time will only tell and I got plenty of it
ayup, got the key mapping working with the latest clockworkmod recovery.
http://twitter.com/#!/bestialbub
it was confusing because it seems the newest version has a secondary back button. had to scratch my head a couple seconds until i figured to map it to the volume key and forget the key combinations for toggling display on and off.. tho power+search might toggle it (not really a useful feature of any concern).
oh, if you look at the devices existing keylayout, the volume or 'media_key' has the value of 213.
i left out instructions for flashing with apx on purpose. if you don't know how, you probably shouldn't, because i don't have a fix today for you if you break your device some how. i'll see about posting some complete apx backup scripts, along w/ a nvflash pack that doesn't have the added rom bloat + stock and my cwm recovery image. but that might be like in a week. i got that adb to work out, file permissions to finishing documenting for fun, and repacking the factory rom for cwm for fun.
nothing to exciting towards new features regular users will enjoy today, but something romheads/chefs/modders/themers will like to make software work and testing easier.
I Gotta get another male/male USB Wire, and I'll Be Watching out for Updated on This and Following you on Twitter no Also, Im Willing to try just as long as the directions are clear. Right Now im waiting on some HTC Sense 3.0 for the EVO. So im on XDA all Day haha

Either one would be awesome Amon ra or CWM recovery Wonder how much the tiamat kernels require to work for us?
cwm recovery is done and available for use. questions; leave at the link you download 'em from.
http://twitter.com/#!/bestialbub
i also have the factory rom repacked and install script made for use w/ cwm (and maybe factory) recovery. this should step up the ability for folks to mod and theme the existing roms. will post tomorrow, then mebbe post an nvflash/apx pack for backup/restore/recovery flashing before i get started on themeing to follow.

TWICS

Captivate currently had TWICS. Its base code from cm9 with TW launcher and Samsung gs3 add on with devil kernel. Running this o my cappy. Super fast and stable. Just an outstanding rom.
Can someone port this to vibrant please!
What are you looking at shortbus......
*NOT SURE/CONFIRMED
But since it is in the line of the original galaxy s, I think you can just flash it, and then change modem/kernel/key layout, which is done by a script (forgot what its called in our development section)
ok, i found it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1623840
Using that, you SHOULD be able to flash any Galaxy S ROM (except the 4G)
If it doesn't work, nothing will go wrong, most likely you will
1) boot loop
2) key layout will be mixed up(easy fix)
3) no connection (change modem/kernel)
*you said this was TWICS, make sure it is ICS and not just themed to look like TWICS.
Link to rom please?

same thing, captivate guy ported from i9000, just you'll probably get updates etc faster.
P.S. tell us how it goes.

OK so I tried it from the captivate before I saw this post. Installed rom and before it gave install complete it auto rebooted. The rom was on my phone but up was down left was right ie screen was in landscape then when I turn it sideways it would go to normal view. I rebooted to recovery and ran patch then reboot and wouldn't get past vibrant screen. I will try again with i9000 rom and let you know the results.

Try to flash the Subzero kernel from here: (use build 80 not 128) http://rootzwiki.com/topic/22833-kernelics15-june-subzero-v14-build-128-brain-dead-and-loving-it/
If you already tried it from Subzero kernel; try the Glitch kernel, its on these dev sections.
Flash either of those to the ROM you currently have, and then try to flash it.
EDIT----------------
"if you are getting status 7 or getprop error then a little work from your side is needed
extract the rom to a folder then go to /extracted folder/META - INF/com/Google/Android from there open updater-script and remove all getprop lines
come back to META - INF folder and delete all three files
zip the file and flash it in recovery
NOTE:- to edit updater script use jota text editor(android), notepad (windows)"
It's in the patch's thread.
Do that.
I followed the thread exactly used jota changed everything and tried again. It just aborts install. I haven't given up. Gonna try again tomorrow. It beat me tonight but not for good! Thanks for everything x.

firstly I want to tell you that because of not having a vibrant to test the patch is in beta
what you can do is open updater script with jota text editor and remove all those getprop lines from the script and as a security step what you can do is press menu button then tap on file and tap on line break then select (lf for android/Linux) save the file go to meta-inf folder and remove all those cert files
zip the package again and flash no need to sign it again for further help you can ask me also in the patch thread

Thanks for input. I first tried it using a captivate port and it would install then I would run patch and it wouldn't boot past vibrant screen. Then I got the original galaxy s rom that the cappy rom was ported from. It gave the error so I proceeded to change the file as per op instructions. It would abort install with but no error status. I did it twice to make sure. If I changed all the get prop from i9000 to t959 would it work?

you should not replace them instead just remove them
after flashing if it gives error then reboot device and with any root explorer app go to /cache/recovery and upload both the files I will see what the error is and then I can troubleshoot better
So guys I'm the twics porter to the cappy twics will soon be called remics I've been a part of a team that took over twics and I will soon be releasing to captivate

I took the twics add on from mr.mad for gs1 running cm9/slim and flashed on my vibrant running gummy 1.2.6 and it got stuck on boot . I reflashed gummy without wiping and now have all the apps from add on except for tw launcher. I guess that's a happy medium until we can get a port.

Just go to that file, copy it and paste it into your SD or something, and then upload it from there.
Because I have flashed a new rom and kernel the recovery log doesn't have the abort/error info...
