I recently Updated ROM to stock : 3.14.720.3 and installed Android Mdeejay eVo sense v2.3 rEvolution, now when i charge the battery stops charging at 99%, then i check in Win mobile and its also the same, any fixes ?
yha, check the battery conditioning link in my sig...
might also want to grab the batterylife widget by curvefish in the market and see what your actual voltage is when its saying 99%.

Mine is 100% charged, having a voltage of 4199mV.
i get fully charged @ 4.24x volts. and that sounds about right for a lithium ion
im getting 4199mv at 99%

Hello.
So, we all know that Android is kinda messed up regarding battery % and that we need to calibrate it in each build etc.
The thing is, when it is not calibrated and Android shows 89% when it is really 100%, won't the battery overcharge?
And why did WinMobile never had this problem? What is the method used in WinMo?
Well the basic thing is whenever you flash a new rom on your device, it looks at the current voltage of your battery and decides what percentage it has. So you will have to recalibrate the battery every time flash new rom. But to be frank I never did that and I have no problems with my battery. What I do is before flashing a new Rom I make sure to charge my phone overnight. Another thing you can do is use widgets like battery monitor widget to look at the voltage when its 100%. It should be somewhere around 4200mv.

Yeah I know that. But if it is not calibrated and for example it is 89% when the battery is 100% charged, can't it overcharge?
I noticed that when the battery reaches the appropriate voltage the current decreases from 800mA to 60mA or so... So I assume that there's some hardware check that disables charging even if the indicator shows 89%...

the battery has a chip attached to it that prevents overcharging

Nice then
And what about windows mobile? How it always knew the right % ? Why does Android has problems with this?

Windows knew it because windows was the first rom to be flashed on that device. After that we flashed another rom(android) which is not meant to be on this phone. hehe...

I was not talking about stock WinMo ROM, but about when we change to a custom WinMo ROM... it is also not the first ROM but it knows the correct %...

Well I am not a dev or know anything about programming side. But according to my understanding, other winmo roms are basically same as the original ROM with only some visual changes. So the files right at the system level will be unchanged mostly. But android builds are made from different phones' roms. So their system files may have to be edited....
Let's say an android phone with 5V battery rating would rate 4V as 80% whereas same ROM if put on different phone with 4V battery rating, it will still show 80% though the battery is actually 100% charged.
Though I might be wrong. Its just a guess....
I want to be able to set android to ignore low battery states. No 15% warning and no shutdown on 0%
Is this possible ?
This would make it very easy to use the 2400mah battery.

You could use one of the BETA Kernel with Extended Battery Support..
There you could "use" these type of Battery !
It isnt good to deactivated these secret Warnings because you should know if the Battery would be discharged to 0 % !!

I whole heartedly agree with you. There is no point of any batteries shutting down at 3.6 volts whether regular or extended. It is a well known fact that our batteries can be safely discharged to 3.3 volts with no ill effects whatsover.
There is no way to discharge the battery to the unsafe level of lower than 3 volts (i believe it is around 2.7v when the safety chip/mechanism kicks in shutting the battery down to prevent damage)
So it would be a great step forward for someone to lower the stupid 3.6v preset shutdown in the kernels and drop it down to 3.3 volts
If anything Arne might be the one to do it... He alone came up with the extended versions of the other kernels here. Wish I knew where to look to lower the phone shuttdown limit.
Lanhack the cheap extended battery is great if we can have the phone ignore % and we use a voltage widget to understand our power level. The cheap one doesn't report as an extended battery so arnes kernel has no use for these batteries right now. Also it doesn't report % properly and the kernals go to 0% with over 70% still left in the battery no matter what kernel you use.

any ideas how i can fix this.... my battery will not charge to 100%. i have tried doin g a battery wipe.. i downloaded the battery calibrator app, and tried to wipe it, and see if it charges... and it will not go past 99%... is there something that i must do to get it to 100%... im trying to get a 100% readout, so i can do a flawless battery calibration via the app, but 99% is sort of lacking haha
My battery max charge changes depending on the theme I have installed. Sometimes I can get to 100%, and others only 97%. I find I get the same battery life in any event.
What theme are you using?

just the gingerblur 4.5-----on the slide to unlock screen it says 99% and says its changing,,,, on the battery calibrator app it says 99% and it says 4187mV isnt 100% 4200mV?
Try unplugging it and letting it discharge a few percentage points and then plug it back in to charge. Sometimes it takes strangely long to go from 99-100 for me though.

will do buddy, im try that out and let ya know
Plugged into the wall or usb? Sometimes on usb it wont do 100% if you phone is still using alot of juice..,
try to use another battery, or an other brand battery. maybe that could work.
good luck!!!

Guys i need you help!
A few days ago i stumbled to a cheap extended battery for HD2 and i bought it.
Unfortunately i just found out that most Android NAND ROMs dont support it....
Can you please point me to a ROM build that does support it?
Its a non-HTC 2600mA battery....
Currently im using CoreDroid 1.6 and its draining my extended battery just like a normal one.....
Thanks!
extended battery support is kernel related, not rom related.
every rom which is using the current tytung or rafpigna kernel supports extended battery, so my guess: nearly every rom out there

Well...CoreDroid 1.6 uses rafpigna 1.9OC kernel.....
Why is it draining my battery so fast?
I charged it to 100% at 16:00,now is 23:30 and its already at 65%.....

how much have you used your phone? if there were a few calls, a lot of music/games/whatsapp/whatever its perfectly normal.

Not much.
I used like i use it normaly.
A few cals during the day, couple of texts and a few minutes of internet...
My standard battery usualy lasts 24-36hours.
I thought extended battery would give me 2-2.5x longer battery life....
I read somewhere that when battery level reacher zero extended battery users should restart the phone and it will go back to 60%....
I wonder if Android can even charge extended battery to 100%?
If the battery you bought is a non HTC battery then it may not be what it is advertised to be, ie not the ma that it is supposed to be, you hear many stories of cheap or 'fake' extended batteries
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA App
Get "Battery Monitor Widget Pro" and that tells you what mAH your battery is and that way as its non-htc you will know if its genuine, i bought a non htc battery apparently 1600 mAH when i first got phone but had no idea back then and only until i got "Battery Monitor Widget Pro" it told me it was 1230mAH which is the original battery so i just use one as a spare now and take 2 out with me, so i can drain it as much as i want, as i know ill never be without
Ok,here's what i did.I let the phone discharge to 50% thatn i powered it off and took the battery out for 10 seconds.
After rebooting the phone battery level was 78%
Im guessing that rafpigna kernel can read extended batteries just not entirely correct.
I'll wait until phone discharges completely and will take out and reboot again.
I tried Battery monitor widget and it reports 1230ma....
When i finish testing i will report back.
After i flashed cm7 a long time ago i noticed that after total charging (100%), when i disconnect the phone it immediately says 99%, i have callibrated the battery and still the same... is not something too important either, but it stills bugging me :/
any help?
btw, it's a red lens defy...
thats just how it is. When plugged in its using the power from the plug and when you disconnect it, then its drawing power from the battery so it will read less. There is no helping it, just what happens it doesnt mean your phone will discharge faster or anything.
99% battery after plug off happens to me always on every rom I tried (even stock one).
Actually I don't care at all.
Bye,
Peppe

On stock...? Rally? Didn't know there was a stock ROM with 1% increment. Stock ROM's only have a regular battery indicator and in battery's settings it shows the battery state in 10% increments - 100; 90; 80 and so on...

hav you tried to calibrate your battery? in play store are several tools.
Hairo The Blue Mage;26400435 i have callibrated the battery and still the same..[/QUOTE said:
He said he calibrated it. I calibrated mine with battery calibrator and with deleting battd.bin and restarting with no battery and both do exactly as he says. There is no fix its just that the battery is fuller when plugged in. If you have battery monitor the mV will go down as it stops drawing power off the plug and draws it off the battery. You can never be 100% when you are drawing power off the battery its a simple fact

Well, i had a Moto CliqXT(Quench) running cm7 that keeped the 100% for a while after unplug, that's why i asked... but thanks for the info, i thought my battery was damaged or something like that...
maybe it's something related to the kernel, as the cliqxt have the bootloader unlocked and many optimizations were made to it's kernel... just wondering...
