Playing Angry Birds and Nova on a huge 103cm screen - Galaxy S I9000 General

Hi guys. Last night I managed to get a TV-out cable from a friend (with Nokia Xpress something ). It's just awesome. I've played Angry Birds, Fifa, Nova, Quake everything is amazing really And the movies in 720p are superb.

You mean you can output HD? What cable is that.?
I thought it outputs composite or something..

What is the length of the cable?
The standard cable is too short to hook up to a large screen ~ basically you are sat right on top of the TV.
Any extension cables I have tried don't work... the signal gets lost in the extension cable.

It's a standard TV out cable, wasn't the quality too poor? Some games I found playable with this kind of cable but it was not a pleasant experience to watch phone home screen at that quality.

The quality seemed great. I don't have something to compare to.

In my case it's not of HD quality, just like you would watch a DVD movie using SCART (analog) connection instead of a HD movie with HDMI (digital) connection.
Of course it looks cool to see the game on big screen, that bit of makes up for low resolution of the picture (VGA-like).

That's the same cable I have.
However, back to my first question.... what about the closeness of the TV, don't you find using this cable you are sat too close the a large screen?
That's why I tried several extension cables, all of which lose the signal.

One thing I can say using the TV for games playing which I found is games such as Need for Speed ~ On the SGS yes they look great but if you connect to a TV to play the game and set the visuals to where you are sat inside the car you ACTUALLY see the car lurch from side to side.... The screen rocks and it makes it much more playable.
If only one could find a way to sit further from the screen it would be better.
btw... this is not me playing but my Granddaughter.

Cable gives very decent picture quality, just like the first xbox would.

wrong section so removed

Not sure about that particular cable but can say if it has Ethernet it is a 1.4a rated cable. One of the newest standards out. I used a cheap cable on my wife's Xoom and had non problem. Many places to get cheap cables.
Mono price.com. , merit line.com shoot even amazon and eBay. Maybe there was a different issue there.
I see that it is a crap cable I plugged it in again and it worked but it was a little off like with the picture size like I only see 2 squares of the right top side app draw button
Thanks I didn't know this was the new style I will exchange it tomorrow b4 I leave for Detroit test at my brothers house
Edit- also cable needs to be in one position or no pic its 100% a dud can't wait to play n64 or modern combat 3 on big screen!

Just played some Dirt 3 on my Note 2

Pretty awesome. You got to try OnLive sometime guys. With MHL, you guys can play ps3 xbox360 games on your big screen through Note lol. OnLive is free and also includes trials for a lot of games. I personally purchased Saints Row 3 and Lego Batman on it.
Sounds pretty awesome. I wasn't aware that this is possible. Few questions....
How much is the service? Can you play any game on there?
How is the resolution and framerates?
Can you use something like a PS3 controller?
Is there GTA IV?
Some pics would be nice

The service is free but the games are paid. Many of them you get a free trial mode so you can check it out. Google Market OnLive. Yeah it also supports game controllers so if you have one you're in luck. The resolution doesn't seem like it's at 720p but it's not too bad. Give it a shot, it's free.
I thought the onlive service went bankrupt? And was closing . But this will work on any web device

Sorry but Onlive is a joke of service, its a 720p low bit rate video stream of the game played on a server 1000km away. pump that out to a 1080p TV and it looks like a smeery smush... not worth the monthly fees or paying full price to stream a low bit rate version of a game.
Come back to it in 3 years time and it may be viable for now just seems pointless + still angry at the way that company went bust, screwed over investors then came back to life less than 24 hours later as the same company. I don't trust them anymore...
P.S full disclosure i wasnt an investor in OnLine i just think the way all that went down was a bit off really...
Its not too bad lol. I have it setup on my big screen and it's actually very convenient. Yeah the video is not 1080p but it's not laggy or unplayably ugly. I have it setup to my laptop as well. I think I might have gotten those 2 games that I own when they offered it for a dollar each. Not bad, all this for 2 dollars

[Q] Does the Allshare Cast dongle work with the S4?

Yes. It works fine and much smoother than S3. Specially for Gaming.

Don't mean to dredge up old threads, but would the Google Edition S4 work with the Allshare Cast dongle or does it have to be on touchwiz?
Thank you!

Dear Looking4somehelp,
Yes it works but 720p not 1080p as advertised. Also performance is very doubtful. For example , it is very hard to play the 3d game Offroad Legends since image on the TV screen has some corruptions due to the insufficient transfer speed and framerate is lower because of screen mirroring. Watching movies is a bit better also surfing web pages is ok... But all are 720p...
To use it, YOU MUST HAVE BOTH STOCK RECOVERY AND STOCK KERNEL otherwise phone cant connect to the dongle!!!
Odin Roms rooted with stock kernel and recovery are welcome...
Alternatively, you can purchase below items for 1080p transfer and lag free operations at almost same price of the dongle;
MHL Adaptor v2.0 50-60 hz
HDMI Cable
Mini bluetooth keyboard with touchpad.
Kind Regards...

BS, screen mirroring isn't smooth at all on the Galaxy S4 and only outputs at 1280*720.

i've been thinking about tinkering with something like this it looks like you guys have it covered pretty well
NICE WORK
I've created my own case for the ouya I was trying to make it more functional than good looking. It has 2 switches one is a replacement for the power button as I didn't want to mess with positioning the circuit board so I could press the button. The other switch bypasses the fan controller and gives 12v straight from the psu to both the motherboard fan and the extra fan I added in. The fan power from the board is still hooked up but, Its protected by a diode to prevent voltage feedback into places it shouldn't be. The way it's hooked up it also turns on the second fan if the switch is not on. The second board beneath the second fan is a cheap powered usb hub so I can hook up a mouse, keyboard, and a usb stick.

I would love the BDG case, but with shipping it more than doubles the cost, I wish I didn't have principles :/
Haven't found any good alternatives though.

These guys already answered, but yes, definitely time. I use mine all the time for when I travel. Nice to be able to crank the volume on videos and watch it on a proper TV in the hotel room.

yeah my phone has mhl and i still run stock based ICS with 4.2 framework added for the reason of being able to use the mhl, if my tab can run hdmi I might consider upgrading my phone to 4.2 base since the reboot with added framework takes forever.

I use a 30$ device called iPush. It's available on ebay and random online stores. Basically you hook that up to HDMI and to your wireless network, install an app on your TF101, and you can watch movies, etc wirelessly on the TV. It's limited to what the app can do, it's not a full hdmi interface but it's pretty nice nonetheless.

I don't understand why, that would be worse quality and a minihdmi adapter is 4 dollars on ebay..

Because the quality if perfect and you don't need to leave your device by the TV or have a 50 feet cable. Check out Miracast. It's also a DNLA and Airplay adapter.
