Suspend process is draining battery - EVO 4G General

SystemPanel shows the suspend process keeps my CPU busy. Any idea short of flashing a ROM on how to fix this?
Sent from my HTC Evo

I don't have system panel app, but why don't you try uninstalling system panel app and see?

I installed SystemPanel because Spare Parts didn't tell me what was keeping my CPU busy. SystemPanel is not the problem.

Battery draining pretty fast

Don't know if its just me but anyone else getting crazy battery drainage? I mean I use the phone but not enough where it will drop from 85% to 75% in a matter of 5 minutes. Very weird. I have my phone oc'ed to 1.4 mhz on kings conservative module. Any ideas?
Sent from my HTC Vision G2
I've been getting at least 12 hours. Im not using a module, or bluetooth, but I'm on Wifi all the time. GPS is typically on as well.

Try removing King's module.. I'm on 1.2 Ghz and I haven't seen any difference in battery consumption when at stock speeds as well..
Mines been unpluged for 13 hours and I'm still at 37%.
It'll last me about over 12 hours and up regardless just weird how it dropped 10% in 5 mins like that.

it calculates use/time so the percentage is a simple variable that will change as soon as you take a idle phone and start using it.
Don't know if this has anything to do with it but I did install a task killer from the market with the red android icon. Maybe this has something to do with it?

Probably best that you remove that.
The problem with task killers is that when you end those processes most of them automatically start back up which of course uses more power to do so. So say for example you get one of those automatic task killers then all day long your phone is ending processes and then restarting them.
Froyo has sort of a built in task killer which you can use to close apps that aren't working probably or that you notice are draining your battery.
You shouldn't use automatic task killers, as others have already stated above me. Another reason is that the task killers themselves are wasting and using system resources and cpu cycles.
What I generally do to keep my phone's unnecessary tasks down and such is to manually end tasks and keep a note which tasks are always popping back up. Once I've determined those processes/services, I would generally put them on the ignore list and have a widget placed on my homescreen so I may tap on it whenever I get a chance, or pass by it, killing off the tasks that I know don't make a difference on my daily use of the phone.
My ignore list consists of:
My Account
3G Watchdog
Voice Dialer
Beautiful Widgets
Widgetlocker
eBuddy
News Weather
BatteryTime
Astrid Tasks
Clock
MixZing
Google Voice
Gmail
Photobucket -- Because it doesn't give up after you've killed it.
You're going to take a battery hit overclocking. Other than that I'd look at what's running at any given time, and everything that you've got installed. There really isn't a need for a task killer. And if you're adept enough to use a module, you might want to look into disabling applications that you don't use via adb; if you haven't already.
To put it another way the more you're running, the faster your battery's going to drain.
Im Oc'ed to 1.4GHz and running all kinds of widgets and i text and call all day.
No issues at all. Both my orig phone and now my replacement phone.
So I'd have to check under running services under applications ? I uninstalled the task killer.

I am overclocked at 1.5ghz and my phone last all day. I think the two main things that attribute to this are:
1. I have a profile on SetCpu that underclocks my phone to 245mhz when the screen is off
2. I used this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=809231 to disable alot of the stock apps that load automatically on the phone (Finance, Qik, Photobucket, Amazon Mp3 etc)
If you do want to try out the 2nd option send me a PM. I'm not sure if you are familiar with the application "Gscript" but it allows you to input a script and have it activate at the touch of a button instead of inputting lines in "Terminal Emulator". Basically, one click and all the BS apps are gone. Do you have the VISIONary root?
Yeah I do. Just charged my phone and it dropped from 97% to 77% in like a half hour. Something is def up. NOT NORMAL. And this was stock. No OC.
Anyone have a list of all the bloatware so I can disable them via terminal. Don't feel like looking thru pm list packages. Lol. Yes, call me lazy.
On a side note just looked at the temp of the battery its saying 101 f. Wtf?!
Sent from my HTC Vision G2
I just got the G2 yesterday to try out.
I charged the phone to 100% today and put it into Airplane mode (my office doesn't get reception), quit all the apps using ATK (froyo version), and killed potential network-hogging apps in Running Services menu. My battery went down to 83% without being touched in a matter of 30-60 minutes.
There's no custom OS/root/overclocking being done here. Anyone else find this a bit strange? Neither my Nexus One or Vibrant deplete this quickly. I also understand the whole battery calibration, but damn!
This seemed to help me. Try pulling out the battery from the phone for 1 min then pop it back in and power up. For some reason that helped. Phones at 50% with heavy use and I took it off the charger at 530am and its now 3pm

i took my phone off the charger at 6 am and i have 55% left on the battery 13 hours later. juicedefender baby
I to have battery issues...not to sure what it is. Just curious how some people are getting more than 10 hours of battery life. I too use Juice Defender and although at start is said 1.31...it now is going to 1.10. How do you all get such high battery life? I get at most from (what I call heavy use, twitter gtalk, txt, web, games) about a single work day which is 8 to 9 hours. Ideas...?

MY EPIC WILL NOT SLEEP!!...any help would be nice y'all?

I'm runnin baked snack 1.6 w/ ultimate kernel...and I have ridiculous battery drain!...I have autimatic task killer, setCPU (set @100mhz-800mhz w. Conservative governing), and I'm well seasoned in the usual battery saving how to's. When I check Spare Parts and go to "Battery History" under "other usage" I can't get rid of the 100% awake time...evn though my screen may only be on for 25% of the time.
If anyone has had and solved this problem or can offer any advice please LET ME KNOW!

Make sure you are not running applications that will constantly poll the system for information. If setCPU is set to scale based on system load it may prevent the device from sleeping because it will be checking the system state too often.
Another commonly overlooked cause is from Battery Monitors. These can often poll the battery level too often preventing sleep as well.
If all else fails backup your device, wipe the data, clear the cache, and reinstall programs one by one.
Bottle of Rum. Makes anyone sleep nicely.
No need for Automatic task killer
No need to underclock the CPU to 800. This might give you like 5 minutes longer battery life per day.
Check the Running Services and see if anything looks out of order.

right but if you can set it to auto underclock to 200-400 when in standby that adds up. Also juice defender

Good suggestion but the only problem I have with that is it causing my phone to shut off because it's already undervolted, I have it on conservative all of the time and in the app "Android System Info" it always shows me running at 200mhz from 70% to 90% of the time anyway.

I don't have any battery monitoring apps except bat stat widget...but nothing like battery indicator pro or a full on application. I'm running the Emotionless Beast theme with the percent mod in in the battery icon...I've heard rumors about this bieng a potential problem....could that be anything?

I stay on top of all my running application through the phone's "running services" tap in settings and through the built in task manager...only Launcher Pro and Widget Locker are left running all the time.
Use Overclock Widget instead of SetCPU. I find mine to be most stable at 400-1200 on, 400-600 off. ymmv

Yea I think the default governer that comes with the Baked Kernel is set to performance...which I know for a fact is detrimental to the charge life of the battery...and can you underclock you CPU with Overclock Widget?

Yeerp!!! Ezalis...you saved my phone mane....I backed up the whole ROM re-flashed along with the Kernel, wiped like 6x Data and Cache...and put everything back on one by one...worked like a charm, my % without sleeping is sittin pretty at 12% thanks for the help!
Not a problem, sometimes you just have to give it a clean slate to work with.

WARNING! Wake Locks! Apps/Widgets that kill your battery!

I wanted to start this thread so we could all share our findings with apps and widgets that kill our batteries either due to things like, poor coding design or ridiculously high resource requirements! I recommend using a app called BatterBatteryStats (find it in the market, all one word) this can show you apps and widgets that may be keeping your phone from entering deep sleep mode (Wake Locks) and chewing up all your battery!!
List of offenders:
Weather Toggle & Widgets - Even tho I have the weather refresh interval set to 6 hours. Over an 8 hour period this widget run over 3000 times and was running for 25+ mins total (refreshing weather and location data) when my phone was supposed to be sleeping.
Alternative - Fancy Widgets can get H7C clock skin without the battery drain
Juice Defender - This and many other "Battery Saver" apps often drain your battery more then they actually save. This is due to its process monitoring your phone usage. Juice Defender drinks about 0.8% battery per hour. Which doesn't sound like much but after a 12 hour day that's almost 10% of your battery!! - Thanks yz.hd
Please reply with any offending apps/wigets that you find and your analysis. I will do my best to place them in the first post.
Do not use "battery savers".
For example Juice defender. It uses your battery more than it saves.
What it does is simply disabling wifi and data when you are not using it, but to know when to do this, it has to be running in the background all the time.
So, if you want to save battery life, remember to disable wifi/data/bt yourself. It will save a lot of battery juice
My findings have only been one so far , I loved g alarm on windows mobile , well for android it consumed at a constant rate 99 percent CPU . Yeah uninstall and plus one to any task killer or battery saver .

I tried testing g alarm and couldnt recreate your problem. I didn't get high cpu usage or any wake locks. I was using this version of g alarm. Is this the same one you used?

Yes . I used system tuner pro task manager to see the CPU usage . It like never went below 80 I now use alarm clock extreme and love it .

4.2 clock app uses cpu in background

Hi, I have an issue with the stock Android 4.2 clock app and its alarms.
I have an unrooted Nexus 4 running stock 4.2.2. The clock app usually stays in background, inactive and using 0% CPU, measured with apps such as SystemPanelLite or Usage Timelines Free. However, when setting an alarm, stopping it and exiting the app, the app stays in background but consumes between 1% and 5% cpu, when should be consuming 0%, being supposedly inactive. It doesn't prevent the phone from going into deep sleep mode, but when awake, the app wastes some battery, unless you kill it. It only uses CPU after you stop the alarm, not while waiting for it or after using the timers. After clearing the app data, the issue still exists.
Does this happen to any of you? I wonder if it is an issue with my phone ot it is a bug of the app.
Thanks.
BTW, it also happened in 4.2.1. Doesn't happen with other alarm apps.
Have you noticed significant battery drain due to this? If not don't worry about it

I haven't quantified it, but I guess it will cause a small battery drain. But it's something shouldn't happen at all, and if it happens to everyone it's a bug that should be fixed, well behaved apps don't do this.
For now I have switched to another alarm app that doesn't have this issue.

background.. running appl..... use battery

How can I find out why my S7 Edge have to be changes 2- 3 times arbejde day and before only one ?
Disable runding background runding apps ?
bb
Depends on your usage.
But if the battery drains faster, yes, you should check the apps running in the background.
Try to install a battery or data manager app and track your phone's usage. You could find something relevant.
Possibly a rogue app keeping your phone awake and stopping your cpu from going to sleep. I find Gsam battery monitor very good for monitoring app battery usage and cpu states, you can also enable more detailed reporting stats by using adb and the app guides you through how to do this.
If you goto settings then device maintenance, click battery and scroll down to always sleeping apps and add everything you don't need running in the background. Me adding all my apps made my battery last longer especially at night when its idle.
