I flashed my phone to SC 2.4 voodoo and everything works fine except that whenever I am on the phone I hear weird sound. It doesnt happen when screen is not on. I think it has to do with some kind of sensor btw you phone and your ear. When screen is on because the phone is not close enough to your ear, it makes sound but as soon as you put your phone close to your ear so that no longer screen is on then I dont hear anymore.....it could not be a big deal...but it kinda bothers me....so plz any suggestions will b greatly appreciated!!
What sort of sound is it? Is it a very high pitched constant tone? Or something else?
Heya,
That sound comes from the screen turning on. Its some sort of frequency noise. Not sure if there is a fix for it.

Not the first to report it, it's happened on other roms as well.
Yep. Not a problem for me on DL09
Got it on both froyo leaks as does my friends fascinate
Doesnt bother me too much though
the texts greater than 160 chars coming through as gibberish or not coming through to non-verizon customers is whats getting annoying to me.
I turned on the simple split 160 option in handcent but something about splitting texts into multiple texts just feels wrong to me :S
I do not believe that there is a fix for it at the moment. But I have noticed that with 2.2 as well. From what I remember I think it has something to do with the soft keys and screen lighting up when on the phone is moved from your ear.
I've noticed this also. But only since EB01 (I think...lol). It does get somewhat annoying but not really that bad. Would love a fix. Superclean 2.4nv
Good. Glad to hear that I'm not the only one hearing this.
I'm just hoping that the noise isn't the sound of something being damaged in my phone. ...like some internal component that is receiving too much power.
To describe the noise, it's pretty much the same kind of noise that a light-up watch makes whenever you turn on the light. I don't know if any of you have ever stuck your ear up to a Timex Indiglo, or something similar, but there is a little "wheeeeeee" kind of noise that is emitted by the light.
*EDIT*
Ok. More info on the odd noise coming out of the phone. It only happens when the phone is in a call. So it is something related to the proximity sensor. Is it possible that EB01 is sending too much voltage through the proximity sensor?
If you are not in a call, even if both the screen and the soft keys are enabled, there is no odd noise. When you are in a call and the screen is on, a weird noise is made. As soon as the screen goes off, the noise stops.
Hi, sorry if this is posted somewhere else I couldn't find it.
I'm Using CM7.2 It works grate, exept for a strange problem. The phone is inactive next to me but without turning it on not ever touching it, the sound of the camera starting is played.... I turn it on but no program has been launched nothing happened at all.
If any can give me a clue of what can me happening will be apretiated

Is not the sound of the camera but of some internal program which was automatically closed or opened. Don't worry....
Since a few days these sounds keep appearing on my phone too. I'm on CM11. Any clues what "internal programs" could be responsible?

Have you tried disabling "Screen lock sounds" in Settings/Sound? That kind of sounds like the camera sound... sorry if I'm totally wrong.

Screen locks sound are disabled. I get the feeling that these sounds appear when I'm in an area with bad wifi coverage, but I'm not quite sure. They appear even when the phone is muted, by the way.
I keep hearing camera sound from my phone too once in a while. I'm on Quarx's 4.1.2 atm. The sound doesn't seem to appear according to a pattern but randomly, and not extremely often. Once when I heard the sound I was curious if it was from the actual camera so I put it next to my ear with the camera to hear the sound better. It was from the camera, like the sound when the protection cover opens or it focuses or something (I'm not good with cameras). It wasn't produced by the speaker, it was a mechanical sound. Hope this helps anyone.
Malware, perhaps? That sound is heard as the camera application is started. Can you hear a fainter sound after the initial sound, the one which is heard as a picture is clicked, the 'focusing' sound

It's the same sound effect that appears when opening the camera, not the "focusing" sound or the sound when taking a picture.
Maybe Skype?
I read in CM11 thread that this kind of sound was caused by Skype. Have u installed skype? If so, uninstall it and use the mobile for one day to see if the problem gets solved.

Thanks, I put skype in the greenify list and I think that fixed it.
It sounds similar to what it sounds like when a bluetooth speaker/headseat is too far away from the phone, like garbled, rapid drops in the audio. Moving the phone slightly away from the head (to activate the backlight), or turning it on with the on-off switch when on speakerphone, fixes the problem. But as soon as the light is off again, the problem tends to return.
I think the problem does not happen when on a HD call.

Did you see this thread? I have the same issue... I don't actually talk on the phone much so I haven't experimented with the audio FX. But it's worth a shot.
Thanks for that. I just tried disabling audio effects and we'll see if that solves it.
Nope, still has the same issue, and so does my brother's. It's not usable for me, really.
Yeah, didn't help me either. Some say turning off VoLTE resolves on call speaker audio issues. You could try that.
I turned it off, which I suspect will turn off hi-def audio in calls which, ironically, is the only kind of call audio that doesn't exhibit my issue So far it seems to be affecting 100% of the phones I know about. There must be more information about this somewhere! Otherwise I do like this phone.

Interesting. I really don't talk on the phone much. Also ironic. For me it seems to happen during LTE calls too. But I'm not certain. It's sporadic. I'll experiment more with it when I have time and post back here if anything I do makes a difference. You do likewise.
Same issue, I thought it was a T-Mobile issue or something. Only noticed it since VOLTE came out.

I turned off the option called "Enhanced 4G LTE Mode" (under "Cellular network settings") last night, and preliminary results are good -- I haven't heard any of the crackling sounds yet. It's probably too early to say this is the fix, though. Tomorrow I'll be on the phone for a few hours for conference calls and will report back.

Ha, yeah, I was afraid that was the fix. Lemme me know if it works long-term, if you don't mind. I like VoLTE, but that noise interface is irritating.
Hi,
I'm loving my OnePlus 5, but there is a strange behaviour with incoming calls. When the phone is ringing and vibrating, sometimes a really bad buzzing sound occurs every few seconds.
It doesn't happen with every call and I have absolutely no idea what's triggering it. I've thought about the vibration motor, but then it shouldn't only make that sound for some calls.
Anyone else with this issue?
Ok, I've done some tests and can easily reproduce the issue:
It happens when vibration is set to strong, like it is set default for calls, and the phone is lying somewhere. As soon as i touch the phone a little bit or take it in the hand, the sound stops. It cames definitely from the top (right?) of the phone.
It would be nice, if anyone could check if their phone makes the same noises. Either call your phone or simply go to vibrations settings.
I've made a video of the vibration sound on strong settings. Would anyone please be so kind to check it on his/her device? You can hear the strange noise pretty well.
OnePlus support told me it was normal.

Just tried on mine, doesn't have the issue, the support is clearly ****ing with you. If i had this issue, I would just get nuts

Thanks for your reply. I've set vibration to medium as a workaround. It would have been hard to believe every device is doing this ugly noise, especially since you hear it with standard settings for incoming calls.
Nevertheless I'd appreciate any further feedback wether his/ her device is affected or not.
Bro, I'd like to know if this issue got fixed for you? I am commenting because I started noticing this too.

I had to RMA the phone. Unfortunately it's the only solution.
I have 2 days left before my 10-day-replacement policy is over. You're saying, your replacement device doesn't have the issue?
Hello guys!
Today I've been going home and suddenly a really have rain started and a lil drop of water got on my phone and it went straight for my earpiece's mesh. I instantly wiped it away and I freaked out that something bad will happen to my phone.
Anyways, I turned it off and then tried to dry it with my hairdryer and started sucking on the mesh (desperate times) but the earpiece seemed to work so I shrugged it off.
FUN PART: I was in my room alone and everything was completely silent and I had the idea that I should check if stuff works so I tried the everything, then I got to the camera and I tried switching the cameras and I heard the NOISE. It's kind of a "tz" or "dz" mechanicalish (?) noise when switching the cameras, ESPECIALLY if I switch it to the front. I asked one of my friends who also has a Mi A1 and he said that his phone does the same.
Can you try it too? It's audible only in silence, or if you put your phone to your ear and switch cameras that way.
Thanks in advance!
Mine too, it's normal, just the camera focusing in I think.
Thanks for the quick answer. I was hoping that other people experience this phenomenon, and my phone isn't faulty after all. The only thing left is that my fingerprint sensor looks weary.. But I gotta live with that I guess
I'm waiting for other people's replies also!
Omg yah haha. I have that tz tz sound as well! ?
I have it too
I remember having it on other phones as well. Shouldn’t be a problem
yes mate i have that to..its not a big deal...
Thank you very much for the replies!
The phone camera contains moving parts which is used for focusing.
When you start or close the camera and when you focus, you can hear a sound coming from it.
This is normal. It is not related to the software version in your phone nor the phone model.
I suggest you move on, nothing to worry about!
