I flashed my phone to SC 2.4 voodoo and everything works fine except that whenever I am on the phone I hear weird sound. It doesnt happen when screen is not on. I think it has to do with some kind of sensor btw you phone and your ear. When screen is on because the phone is not close enough to your ear, it makes sound but as soon as you put your phone close to your ear so that no longer screen is on then I dont hear anymore.....it could not be a big deal...but it kinda bothers me....so plz any suggestions will b greatly appreciated!!
What sort of sound is it? Is it a very high pitched constant tone? Or something else?
Heya,
That sound comes from the screen turning on. Its some sort of frequency noise. Not sure if there is a fix for it.

Not the first to report it, it's happened on other roms as well.
Yep. Not a problem for me on DL09
Got it on both froyo leaks as does my friends fascinate
Doesnt bother me too much though
the texts greater than 160 chars coming through as gibberish or not coming through to non-verizon customers is whats getting annoying to me.
I turned on the simple split 160 option in handcent but something about splitting texts into multiple texts just feels wrong to me :S
I do not believe that there is a fix for it at the moment. But I have noticed that with 2.2 as well. From what I remember I think it has something to do with the soft keys and screen lighting up when on the phone is moved from your ear.
I've noticed this also. But only since EB01 (I think...lol). It does get somewhat annoying but not really that bad. Would love a fix. Superclean 2.4nv
Good. Glad to hear that I'm not the only one hearing this.
I'm just hoping that the noise isn't the sound of something being damaged in my phone. ...like some internal component that is receiving too much power.
To describe the noise, it's pretty much the same kind of noise that a light-up watch makes whenever you turn on the light. I don't know if any of you have ever stuck your ear up to a Timex Indiglo, or something similar, but there is a little "wheeeeeee" kind of noise that is emitted by the light.
*EDIT*
Ok. More info on the odd noise coming out of the phone. It only happens when the phone is in a call. So it is something related to the proximity sensor. Is it possible that EB01 is sending too much voltage through the proximity sensor?
If you are not in a call, even if both the screen and the soft keys are enabled, there is no odd noise. When you are in a call and the screen is on, a weird noise is made. As soon as the screen goes off, the noise stops.

I noticed that upon the vibration being triggered on really short spurts (for example when typing) that occasionally a clicking noise is generated. This isn't from the speaker, it's definately a mechanical noise.
For reference, My EVO is less then 24 hours old.
Anyone else experience this?
Thanks
I haven't heard any clicking and I've had mine for a week. I just tested it with typing and I don't hear any mechanical noise. Perhaps yours is defective?
The vibration on this phone is 100% more refined than the Hero's (in my opinion, lol). I turned off haptic feedback everywhere on my Hero because it was obnoxious and obtrusive. The haptic on the Evo seems smooth and intuitive. I prefer to use it on anything with the option.
I had it on a replacement vogue I got, it went away after awhile.
Take it into sprint and see if you can replace it.
My Nexus One use to do that. Did it from day one I had it since release date and still works fine.
I happened to notice this today myself but the noise eventually went away. I hope it doesn't become a big issue.
Yeah, I don't think it's necessarily a defect. Just when it gets triggered for such a short time-span that sometimes happens. Not that first phone I've noticed it on.

I was watching a podcast of the 404(cnet) and one of the hosts had something go wrong with his vibration on his evo....??
He said it will still vibrate like when calls came in, but for like the haptic feedback it didn't work.(yes he menitoned he had checked all the settings that were relative)
Dunno if this means anything to you but it could be more than a fluke problem. You never know...
I'm having this exact same problem on a nexus one...

After about two and a half weeks of ownership I started getting the click. It happens when the vibration is very short, maybe less than 1 second.
It isn't really obnoxious to me, but it is enough of a click that I notice it now.
Haven't noticed this ... yet ...
-_-

lol I thought I was the only one.
Curious, how loud? Would the key tone, god forbid that even be on, cover it up? Medium volume? (Is that loud??? I don't use the key tones ... )
Mine does the same thing. Clicks every other input. At the home screen I can press the back button over and over and every other time is clicks.. doesn't sound healthy. Its getting annoying when texting because every other letter feels differnt making some letters feel like there is no vibration....
THe more it does it, it's starting to feel like a rattle, like something is loose....
I used to have that w/ my first evo. Then i bought a second off the market and it didnt have the vibration problem. so i returned the first...
I have this issue, will sprint do an exchange because of this? I can replicateit by holding the backspace key on swype, its a loud annoying clicking
Edit: I upgraded to the new swype and thenoise is gone
I have this same clicking sound, doesn't seem to bother me though!
yup, mine will occasionally do it too. It almost sounds like there is slack in there and whenever it starts up it slaps against something. Mine doesn't seem to be getting worse so I'm not to worried about it but I definitely notice it when it does happen.

Hello everyone i have had my galaxy for awhile now and i dont know why i never posted this but phone reception is very bad. When someone calls me or i call someone i can hardly hear them, this is with the volume turned up to max.....is there a volume hack or something to turn up volume on inner calls past the max ?....anything at all would be helpful.
There is a way to turn up your volume but you'd have to do it every time you reboot your phone, just search the forums for it. I never had a problem with my galaxy s phones gt-i9000m and I had two of them. Maybe your phone is defective and you can exchange it?

are you sure you are putting the earpiece where it's supposed to go?
if you have it higher, you wont hear it, if you have it lower you wont hear it
it has to be exactly facing your inner drums
it's the same with all other phones i've had in the past
have you tried Bluetooth? perhaps that will work better for you?
my SGS sounds loud and clear, and i got bad hearing
Same problem with mine. I find it has something to do with the signal though. When I call OCTranspo or my voicemail or something it's loud and clear, but when I speak to people it always sounds like they're whispering.
hmm it seems fine right now....i really hope it was cause i was in a dead spot or low signal reception when i was on the phone....i will monitor the phone for the next few days and post here if i fall into this problem again thanks for the help guys!...oh and Gamer ill look into that bluetooth headset maybe.
the first 2 are recorded messages, so the audio quality is expected to be the same all the time
those are very good point of reference
that means whatever it is the problem is not the phone earpiece, but the people talking on their end
otherwise you'll be hearing whisper like sound from the voice recorded systems

Has anyone experienced a really loud vibration sound on their DHD? It is really annoying so I've turned it off. Is there a way to configure this?
Thanks
Check whether the metal ring around your LED flash is not loose and that it vibrating is not causing that noise.
It's not loose with my phone, and it also makes a lot noise when it vibrates.

I had issues with vibration before. If It's not right send it back...
It is simple to fix for HTC. Don't settle for second best.
My phone feels amazing now my vibration is working correctly, before it was embarrassing when it vibrated. Really horrible experience to use the phone.

You can change the vibrate pattern within Chompsms for when you get texts. It won't change the force of the vibration, but it can be set to a shorter one.
Hello there everyone,
is anyone else experiencing this weird phenomenon:
everytime haptic feedback frequency is high, e.g. while fast typing messages, I'm hearing besides the vibrating buzz also some clicks, and they become louder the shorter the intervals between the pulses. When I wait a little after hearing it and touch a key again, the clicking is gone but as soon as they follow up each other a little bit faster it's hearable again.. Can anyone check if this happens with them too? I can't remember I was hearing this sound too when I first used the phone, just wanted to know if something's wrong in the earpiece. I know the vibrator is situated at the bottom of the phone, the noise however is coming from the earpiece.
Thanks in advance!

No I haven't also, the phone is completely set to mute. But if the guy of the second answer doesn't have his touch sounds on neither, everything's OK with me just wanted to know if it was abnormal
Thanks!
Hi,
I'm loving my OnePlus 5, but there is a strange behaviour with incoming calls. When the phone is ringing and vibrating, sometimes a really bad buzzing sound occurs every few seconds.
It doesn't happen with every call and I have absolutely no idea what's triggering it. I've thought about the vibration motor, but then it shouldn't only make that sound for some calls.
Anyone else with this issue?
Ok, I've done some tests and can easily reproduce the issue:
It happens when vibration is set to strong, like it is set default for calls, and the phone is lying somewhere. As soon as i touch the phone a little bit or take it in the hand, the sound stops. It cames definitely from the top (right?) of the phone.
It would be nice, if anyone could check if their phone makes the same noises. Either call your phone or simply go to vibrations settings.
I've made a video of the vibration sound on strong settings. Would anyone please be so kind to check it on his/her device? You can hear the strange noise pretty well.
OnePlus support told me it was normal.

Just tried on mine, doesn't have the issue, the support is clearly ****ing with you. If i had this issue, I would just get nuts

Thanks for your reply. I've set vibration to medium as a workaround. It would have been hard to believe every device is doing this ugly noise, especially since you hear it with standard settings for incoming calls.
Nevertheless I'd appreciate any further feedback wether his/ her device is affected or not.
Bro, I'd like to know if this issue got fixed for you? I am commenting because I started noticing this too.

I had to RMA the phone. Unfortunately it's the only solution.
I have 2 days left before my 10-day-replacement policy is over. You're saying, your replacement device doesn't have the issue?
