THIS !!!!!!!! >

2.02 is non engineering hboot... so i would think there is not much point... but than again... i think probably 99% of us dont even touch those options.

Uh nothing that i know of, except that HBOOT 2.02 that i have found will NOT downgrade to .76 as they patched it, I tried the eng-PC36IMG.zip, unrevoked etc. They do not root, nand unlock and install recovery.

eng-PC36IMG.zip skips installing the bootloader wich is the HBOOT.
Unrevoked Errors out and will not get past the HBOOT and throws a error saying lost connection.

So far can not downgrade the stupid hboot. This is what happens.

How did you get s off? Ive been trying everything for the past week

You cant downgrade as of yet to HBoot 76.
You can get S-Offed as of now that lets you install a custom recovery etc.

If you have s-off then you should be able to make a PC36IMG.zip out of one of these hboots found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=801568

It will flash the PC36IMG.zip just fine, but its bypassing the boot everytime.

so, will this fix let us root the phone and load recovery and flash roms again? im so tired of being stock lol.

Yes, right now i have ClockworkMod recovery on it.
You can flash custom roms to the phone.
Only thing is i want to put the eng0.79 bootloader on there

Thanks for the effort. I bought an Evo today with 2.02 Hboot on it. I was afraid to be stuck with stock for a long time.

Ok 2.02 has been successfully cracked all the way.

[Solved]HTC branded 32A semi-bricked (RUU mode only)

When I'm booting my Magic I'm getting into RUU mode. Not booting into recovery, not booting normal, and not booting to fastboot.
I could've flashed a new radio and hboot, but my SPL is perfected 1.33.0010. When I'm trying to flash an official update, I'm getting to the updating screen, the phone is rebooting into bootloader, but I'm getting this error:

No.
Every combination boots to hboot. And added.
Edit: Still no luck unbricking. My phone is starting in bootloader, says RUU. Maybe that's not hboot. Not sure though. Fastboot finds my phone, but as I have perfect SPL, I can't flash anything.
You need a goldcard to put and engineered spl on it (my guess).

The updating from sappimg wouldn't start in RUU mode. I solved it by applying the newest magic update. Now having perfect SPL, but maybe that's the best. For not getting temped risking my phone again.
Thanks for your answer anyway.

HBOOT .77 vs .79 How do I get .77 for OTA?

I followed the instructions here
http ://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=766361
with no issues however, in step 3, after rebooting it looks like I am still rooted and CWM is still installed. It didnt flash my device but only updated the HBOOT. But my HBOOT still reads .79. SHouldnt it be .77 to be ready for the OTA? And all of my apps + settings are still intact. I am still rooted. Is this what its supposed to do? I thought it was supposed to flash the recov img.
And I verified that I get the red warning triangle.
My maine concern is the HBOOT: my HBOOT ver is .79 Shouldnt it be .77 to get the OTA update?
If so, how do I fix this?
Thanks

Also, whats the difference between .77 and .79?

There's not enough of a difference initially to have anyone look into the differences, so no one really knows.

Thank you for this answer this was something I really needed to know as well, I did the same as the OP, was rooted, and downgraded with S-OFF hboot .79 and stock everything waiting for 2.2
Also can you help me out with this, I have all this but when I run S-ON and then tried to run the PB13IMG.zip to get the stock recovery back now, it says update failed main version is older.
You need to run that zip with S-OFF, it's unsigned, so it won't let you run it if it's not signed.

[Q] Downgraded bootloader for CM6, need to restore for nandroid

All,
I was running Fresh 3.2 on my evo, rooted via unrevoked3. I wanted to try CM6 which required downgrading the bootloader to .76. Decided to go back to Fresh but I can't do a nandroid restore. I wound up having to go stock and running unrevoked again, bootloader now reads .79 but nandroid still won't restore. I'm thinking I need .93 but not sure.
Any help/thoughts?
Yeah you need to upgrade your bootloader back to the previous version then all will be well.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Any idea where I can find/download the later revision bootloader? I see .76 all over XDA and the web, don't see later versions for download.
i had the same problem last week. you did the right thing, but apparently didn't use the most recent stock RUU. once you reflash that, it should update your bootloader to 0.93. you can then re-root and restore.
I just downgraded my bootloader for cm also. My question is can you flash any other rom without updating the bootloader? Say I wanna flash a fresh rom. Would that work?

What was your original bootloader? 0.93? I believe there was no need to downgrade your bootloader for CM 6.1. I had sort of the same issue and this link helped me, I hope it helps you.

Well dang didn't kno that cm6 wasn't hboot specific. I just went off what he had in his guide. So with that pc36img I just flash in hboot and that will change my hboot to the .96? Will I have to flash a different rom right of way? Also are any other roms specific on what hboot u have? I don't mind setting up my phone again. That's the fun of it. Lol thanks tho for the link and helpfull info.

Yes, put the PC36IMG.zip in the root of your SD card and then just boot into the Bootloader. Accept update and you are good to go. So far on my end, I have flashed many many ROMs and did not have to load a different HBOOT. Good Luck.

The best option for you would be to flash the PD15IMG from the hBoot. It will flash the radio you should have along with turning the s-on as long as you didn't use ./gfree to root the phone.

The PD15IMG is the entire stock T-Mobile ROM. You do not need to be rooted or have s-off to flash that.
you are thinking of the radio files. You do not want to flash that.

Hey,
I just tried that method with the stock PD15IMG.zip file and I got the message

do you have any idea what could cause this to happen??
Would I brick my phone if i performed the factory reset from the HBOOT menu?

S-OFF and no root, what do?

Here's the story. Got my original G2, played with it, rooted, s-off, the works. Needed to send it in for a warranty exchange so I unroot, s-on, etc etc, and put gingerbread on it. So I had the pc10img file on my sdcard.
Fast forward, I got my replacement G2, it had Froyo, had it rooted, s-off, the works before the battery was even finished charged (I waited for it to finish before I rebooted of course!) and I loaded up the official MIUI. usb tethering wasn't working so I figured I would download and flash a pershoot kernel! That "bricked" it. Wouldn't boot at all! So I booted it in to recovery (vol down + pwr) forgetting that the official gingerbread pc10img was on the sdcard. I was out and about so I just needed my phone back ASAP, so I went ahead and flashed it. So now I have stock gingerbread, with S-OFF and no way to get root. Is there another pc10img I can flash that is pre-rooted, or am I SOL til someone figures out how to root the latest update?
I'm gonna try gingerbreak after posting since I DO have s-off still...

To my knowledge there is still no temporary exploit for gingerbread that you would need to gain permanent root, sorry. It looks like you might be sol, but since you do have s-off try some of the other exploits like psneuter or gfree and post back. I would be very intrested if the hboot was somehow responsible for keeping the gingerbread g2's from getting root

I think that, since you're S-OFF, you'll be able to apply any PC10IMG.zip since it won't check signatures/versions - can someone correct me on this if I'm wrong?

It says SHIP S-OFF. And I was also thinking that since it is S-OFF that I could flash a PC10IMG that was already rooted, but seems almost all roms these days are only clockwork flashable.

Back to semi-square one anyway.
I was able to successfully flash the shipped rom as a PC10IMG which I got here (http://shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Vision) and I'm going to say that this is most likely because I am radio s-off.

It is because u were s-off. That was my configuration also so if I flash that official gb PC10IMG I'm still s-off but unrooted. To reroot I simply flash the 1.19 PC10IMG, let it get the 1.22 OTA if I feel like it then psneuter/gfree it all over again.
PS - to anyone else... don't even bother with gingerbreak for that official gb

I would put anything with root on it, just to get cwm. Than do as you normally would. As you may know, things are far easier through recovery.
::edit:: you should be able to find a custom built pc10img zip thingy, somewhere on these forums or from someone.
I'm sure you can easily make your own, and it should work.
Goodluck.
