you're way behind now.. a lot (if not all) builds have the fully working 5MP camera now.. and recently, even the evo based builds has overcome the camera flash problem.. try mdeejay's build if you're into sense and bangsters on non sense builds.. those two are my favorite.. and yes, they have the 5MP camera support..
Hey all,
i wanted to know which build you prefer and which build the most stable one is. im searching for a version with less bugs. i want a non laggy version. can somebody help?
the ram versions are far away from being stable right?
what about the hd versions? have they much bugs?
I love to know this too. I want stable and not care much of nice animation. i think you will get different answer because i don't think anyone know what the best out there. You will have to try different one to see which one work for you best. Every single one out there will the different issue you might run into? The good thing are alot of developer actively working on these rom for FREE. That really nice of them. I really appreciate all the hard work.
The common response to this question is that it's really about personal preference at this point. There may be some small features not working in each build but I can't say that any of them have any particular major flaws unless it's a "work in progress" build like Gingerbread MyTouch4G or whatever. I recommend bookmarking this http://android.hd2roms.com/ and get a better idea of the different Roms and see which are staying updated or w/e. I like to have 2 types of Roms, a Stock-like or Cyanogen-based and a Sense-themed. Of these types, I have found the following to be particularly good for me:
- Cyanogen-based: HD2ONE (all though he is not developing any longer, this one should be solid for a long time.. my personal favorite) - JDMS (could easily replace HD2ONE for me if JDMS stays in the game and keeps new Cyanogen builds rotating in and doing the testing\tweaking for us)
- Sense-themed: MDJ Froyo HD (I'm most impressed with MDJ's commitment to keeping his roms up to date. Sense based are often bulky so I have to overclock them a tad but MDJ compensates by undervolting nicely)
- Stock-like: Darkstone SuperRam (I may be biased for Darkstone's builds but this one loads super quick) - NexusHD2 (Solid and Slick... nothing wrong with this one)
- Experimental: MDJ Gingerbread (Really looking forward to the last couple things to get ironed out on this build)
So yeah, there are 6 right there that I use. Which one I use the most is kinda hard to say. I currently bounce between HD2ONE and MDJ FroyoHD. I use Excellar boot loader and just customize my Rom names and just reboot in each and play/test them all for speed/stability/functionality at my leisure. I just load up my card like this and figure out what works for me the most:
/HD2ONE
/MDJFroyoHD
/SuperRAM
/JDMS
/NexusHD2
Bottom-Line... all of them are excellent, have fun and try each on. And don't be afraid to try something new. A lot of new guys are trying to get their stuff out there for us and need testers and feedback to help them perfect it. Sorry for being long winded, there really is no simple answer. They are all good!
For me its MDJ Revolution HD v.1.2 with hastarin 8.6 kernel
Its apsolutly fast, stable and good looking. I have tried almoust all versions and this one is definitly winner for me.
I vote for option A - Try them all and see which one you like best.
Mdeejay Sense Clean 2.3 build as posted in Mdeejay thread by Hastarin. It has Hastarin kernel 8.53b included but you can update to 8.6. It's totally stable and I haven't found anything to replace it.

SupeRam by darkstone, top notch

HD2ONE is the best for me. Smooth Quick & Stable for everyday use. Also installing Luncher Pro from market place makes it unbelievably smooth.

The Nexus build from TyTung is the most stable and there is nothing "not" working...check it out.
MCCM's builds are perfect. Everything works and they are fast without overclooking. I get 1662 on quadrant with stock CPU settings. with his builds. I'm using his Desire HD build.
Sent from my HTC HD2 Desire HD using XDA App
Also, they are rock solid stable and battery draws 5 - 7 mA in standby.

but it doesnt work for me for calling.no sound when i call soneone.but music plsys fine.
Nexus build by TyTung, it is very smooth & stable, with very low battery consumption
i agree with the nexus one notion. my only problem is that battery when standby averages at 11 mA
Any build can be as good as you want if you know what to do. For me, I simply like sense builds. I have mdj 1.7 as main but I am currently testing moto my touch 4g and dandiest desire z.

There are two causes for this, one Tytung address in his post; GPS off.
The other is addressed in my post; it's a light that stays on that's supposed to be used only during call.
Check it out.

Just flashed my first NAND ROM a gingerbread version I believe. Holy **** is my first impression. Amazing. Question is with the camcorder.
Do some NAND builds have a fully functioning camcorder, (The one on my build is very choppy) or are they all the same regardless of build?
Aside from camcorder this build (wish I remembered atm.) Is perfect!
Thanks

I can't respond with much more knoweldge other then use regarding DFT's and CMLXGO, or whatever his user name is, roms. Both haave a working camcorder with no issue albiet no 720p recording. To my understanding there are no android builds for HD2 yet that support 720p recording.
Also camera quality and camcorder quality is amazing with both of these builds for a cell phone. I actualy bought this phone after seeing pictures from a stock HD2 from a friends phone at my wedding. Android carries true with the same functionality as winmo 6.5 in quality. Winmo 7 still leaves some to be desired though in both departments, but progress is fresh and young and I'm sure it will get better.
Ok I think you said that certain builds DO have a we'll functioning camcorder? I will try and find another build then.
Ideally still on gingerbread. Anyone have a particular Rom running gb with good functioning camcorder.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
Yes. Sorry for not being so clear. The two builds I have used have a perfectly working camcorder.
As for a Gingerbread build? Try this one.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905060
I dabled with that one for a day or two but I prefer sense builds for my personal taste. If I remember correctly this rom has full camera functions.
Is their a sense version of gingerbread? do like sense but am enjoying the crap out if gb
I think I am on the build u posted but wont know for sure until I get back on PC.
I did see on that forum that can did work but only at low quality settings. Going to test that shortly.
I guess in general I want to make sure I'm getting the most of this hd2 . Just got it and coming from a tilt2.
Thanks for the help.

If you want a sense camcorder that syncs the videos and audio correctly, and has good quality, get a desire build. The desire hd/z builds don't sync the audio and video correctly, atleast for me.
I just got an HTC HD2 off of eBay. It came with a SanDisk 16 GB Class 4-ish MicroSD that I took out (since I figured it's too slow). I put in my trustly ol' 8 GB Class 10 with "MccMBoxmaX GS V7.0 SD" Android 2.3.3 on it.
Booted it up, everything except 720p Video Recording seems to be working, but I noticed some graphical glitching when there's some animation in the UI going on (I see no such glitching when flicking through the apps, web browser, and etc). Angry Birds (yes, I tested it), and GameBoid run very smoothly and no glitching whatsoever. Pictures taken with this build are acceptable quality.
Also, some things are little sluggish (like bringing down the notification bar) in this build.
Oh and, any resolution video recording with this ROM seems to be a no-go: it stutters like crazy. I'm thinking it's because it's trying to record on the SD while running the OS and the App off of the SD.
What do you guys recommend I do? Get another SD build, or get a NAND build? What ROM do you guys recommend?

it all depends on what your looking for ..if its a nand rom
if your looking for the new sense 3.0 ports
there are 2 that are really good AngelDeaths
[30.June.2011] AngelDeath Kingdom Sense 3.0 Release v1.4 [K:TyTung r10] and jhr5474s
[30 June 2011] ANIMATED SENSE 3.0 KINGDOM BASE/ WIFI WORKING[TytungR10]
then there are sense 2.1 builds with sense 3.0 parts in it
krendelrus [25.June.2011][MAGLDR/cLK] LeoRCMix S v.1.9 [Sense 2.1 + Sense 3.0][RAF 1.9OC] is a nice build
now if you want just a GingerBread build there are 2 that are really good
Tyweens [25.JUN.11][MAG/cLK]TyphooN CyanogenMod 7 Nightly v3.4.0[2.3.4][A2SD][tytung r10]
and Pongsters [31.May.11][ZIP]★★★★★HyperDroid-CM7-v2.1.0[a2sd+][CyanogenMod7 LEO 2.3.4][Tytung_R10]
all those above are nand roms
and im currently useing the one in my sig and love it
never even messed with android sd roms so i cant recommend any of those

because its gingerbrad and sense 3, video isnt working perfectly and the glicthes are common on the roms
it is nothing to do with your sd card
I see.
I like the convenience of syncing with Gmail Contacts. I unlocked the phone btw since I'm an AT&T user.
I came from an LG Incite with custom ROM. Boy what a difference Capacitive touch makes.
I've installed Typhoon Cyanogenmod 7. It feels a lot faster than the SD build I was using before, and did not have any of the graphical glitches while having a newer build of Gingerbread (2.3.4).
It did not have the option to not pull data from my Wireless Account during setup so it did use up $0.15 on my account. Had to disable Data in settings afterwards.
Found a bug in CyanogenMod 7 (latest build): disappearing dock after doing certain action:
how to reproduce bug: take finger, swipe across the screen from bottom to top, starting from the dock
Re-produced on a friend's Droid 2 with APEX too.
#EDIT:
Nevermind, not a bug. Seems to be a feature in ADW.

haha...... great rom you have tested for your first android build, that and the one in my signature are the only 2 i will flash between atm, there are alot of good roms out there i just prefer them 2..
Use the rom in my sig. However, update will be in a few weeks...
Its nand build froyo with 2.1sense. Older than than sense3 but no glitches. Uses data2Ext so you have about 700+mb system space. I feel that its the best functional rom.
99% stock. A better looking %battery indicator.
Including some cool comfortaa fonts.
Screenshot:
Wallpaper is my own edited sense 3 version. Not included in rom

That rom is not Sense 2.1. Sense 2.1 is the first build that came with the quick power settings on notification and the new paginated app drawer and is only found on Gingerbread, not Froyo.
Still mixed up a bit, as a first time HD2 user (coming a long way from as ex-samsung galaxy S user) which ROM should I use ?
looking for stable ROM, prefer GB is possible.

Do a cmylxgo Stock DesireHD ROM v1.1.18. It's pretty much a perfect DHD ROM for the HD2.
Hi everybody, i need a fix for the 720 playback because it's laggy in nand sense GB and i can't find a fix for that but if you know where i can find it i'll be very happy
Thank you !
Sorry bud but there is no fix for that, it's one of the last remaining issues with the GB Sense roms at this point. The given consensus is that it is a driver issue and until proper drivers can be created (unlikely) or ported from the Desire (possibility) then that's all you will get.

Thanks for your answer let's hope one day developpers can fix it
Is there a way to record videos in 640x480 resolution without lagging?
No no one has a good camera fix for.sense gb builds... I wish to see again the quality of my hd2 record like with win mobile 6.5 in android builds
Hm but I am wondering why the cam is working with the boyppc release smoothy:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16270840&postcount=3
I tested it!
That's sense 2 and is froyo
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Is there no date, when the cam is working with sense 3 as well?
Well there is a new kernel being worked on from the Desire GB release and that may or may not solve our issue. As of right now no eta
