hi,
i was wondering, now with all the android roms beeing published to xda
i'd realy like to know which rom is actualy the most recent, or the best, with the least errors and best to work
and another thing,
is it possible to delete windows from my phone and let my phone start directly from android, to avoid the long boot time?
@natihorny - Here's a link to TechBurrow's thread. There is a video/ links for what you need to do to flash your phone with Android and have it boot up directly to it without dealing with WM. I've yet to do this, as I'm still at work, but plan on giving it a try in the coming days.

I would suggest that you dont use NAND builds yet they are far from perfect but instead you should use this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=847631 it is motomans black and blue build wich is by far the best sense android build even much better than any ram and nand build and as for winmo flash this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893438 and it will boot android just as fast as any nand build and you will never have problems with this setup
this is a very, very subjective thread. there is not "best" rom--it's all about what you're looking for in a rom. for example, vanilla froyo vs. desire vs. desire hd vs. miui vs. gingerbread. or sd vs. sd ram vs. nand.
personally, i'm a proponent of sd ram. i haven't actually used it long term, but it seems to be very fast (and based on darkstone, it's even faster than nand). especially with nand being very young in its development, i would stick to sd for now. plus, it's much easier to flash and fix in case you corrupt your rom somehow. there's a few out there (just look for "[SD] [RAM]" in the descriptions), but one i'd like to point out is darkstone's superram froyo. i'm kinda busy right now, but that's definitely the rom i'm going to be using and modding to my liking.
good luck and have fun flashing!
ok, thanks everyone for the helpfull answers,
i had still one other question and thats,
i just bought a new car with bluetooth function, though my cell phone and the bluetooth of the car don't connect like it should, (thats why i wanted an android with the least amount of problems) and i was wondering if the fact that the bluetooth is only visible 120 seconds may cause the problem.

i was wondering, in some of the android roms, you can choose skins from htc sense and have the htc market, and can download more htc backgrounds, sounds, etc. etc.
and now i have the rom you suggested, both for windows as for android which i'd like to use, but doesn't have that htc sense thing buildt in the android rom, how can i get it back?

The build you are speaking of is the desire hd. I didn't suggest that build because it is laggy and slow. Even after 10 restarts and 2 days of use it still laggs alot compared to the one I posted in B4. Take it from someone that has tried every build available the motoman build is BY FAR the BEST after you get over all the HOOPLAH over the new htc sense wich is cool i'll admit but the coolness wears off after about 2 days and your just stuck with a laggy non responsive HD build. now others will post how good thier HD build works after hours of tweeking and reading and tweeking and reading. But trust me you will go back to the motoman build after you try the hd for a few days
@ wrecless
thanks for your view about which rom to choose, i'll do as you say, since you realy know what you're talking about, and i was hoping you tell me whenever a perfect rom from the htc desire is out?

I installed the darkstone build and had problems but I cant remember exactly what they were. In my opinion the motoman build was just as fast and had no problems. I'v been trying everything just because i want something different but I always come back to this build nothing out there seams to work as well as this one and as for the nand builds they are all RMNET. So untill I see a working PPP build I'm going to keep using this SD build
Why hasnt a mod moved or deleted this topic?

I tryed Motoman's build and found it very nice, but am having problems with wifi and market, I think there may be a fix for these but ive not had time to browse through the forum as of yet.

Not sure one can find a perfect build ( or mate for that matter ), but I do have some info collected that others may find useful in the link below. If anyone can find a build with everything working, please let us know.

Just flashed my first NAND ROM a gingerbread version I believe. Holy **** is my first impression. Amazing. Question is with the camcorder.
Do some NAND builds have a fully functioning camcorder, (The one on my build is very choppy) or are they all the same regardless of build?
Aside from camcorder this build (wish I remembered atm.) Is perfect!
Thanks

I can't respond with much more knoweldge other then use regarding DFT's and CMLXGO, or whatever his user name is, roms. Both haave a working camcorder with no issue albiet no 720p recording. To my understanding there are no android builds for HD2 yet that support 720p recording.
Also camera quality and camcorder quality is amazing with both of these builds for a cell phone. I actualy bought this phone after seeing pictures from a stock HD2 from a friends phone at my wedding. Android carries true with the same functionality as winmo 6.5 in quality. Winmo 7 still leaves some to be desired though in both departments, but progress is fresh and young and I'm sure it will get better.
Ok I think you said that certain builds DO have a we'll functioning camcorder? I will try and find another build then.
Ideally still on gingerbread. Anyone have a particular Rom running gb with good functioning camcorder.

Yes. Sorry for not being so clear. The two builds I have used have a perfectly working camcorder.
As for a Gingerbread build? Try this one.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905060
I dabled with that one for a day or two but I prefer sense builds for my personal taste. If I remember correctly this rom has full camera functions.
Is their a sense version of gingerbread? do like sense but am enjoying the crap out if gb
I think I am on the build u posted but wont know for sure until I get back on PC.
I did see on that forum that can did work but only at low quality settings. Going to test that shortly.
I guess in general I want to make sure I'm getting the most of this hd2 . Just got it and coming from a tilt2.
Thanks for the help.

If you want a sense camcorder that syncs the videos and audio correctly, and has good quality, get a desire build. The desire hd/z builds don't sync the audio and video correctly, atleast for me.
Hey,
i use this rom : [03 APR] imilka's Gingerbread Sense v0.4 [Des S][Sense 2.1+Android 2.3.3][K:raf1.9]
And how everyone knows, the camera doesnt work.
Where is the probleme with the camera in sense, it is the kernel ? can we change it ? maybe one from an other rom ?
Or it is a problem from sense 2.1 ?
Can we use a kernel maybe from CM7 or any other rom ? or it dosent work ?
Thanks Basti
its sense i think, its a drivers issue
if it was as simple as changing kernels then it woudl be working but it isnt that simple
But at the dhd gingerbread sense and camera works.
and at 2.2 with sense as well at hd2 gingerbread too.
it is so difficult to fix it ?
I think it is a question of the HD2 does not recognise the camera. The dev said something about having to change the libs, which is a BIG job

thats NOT hd2 tho, thats a desire hd which would work because its been created for the device!!!! show me a hd2 version with a working camera and gingerbread, there isnt one yet
the drivers are different and by the sounds need decomiling to find the differences and then recompiled for the HD2
Hey in my posting i wrote that ginger and camera working at dhd i dont wrote about hd2.
But my first question is about the hd2
But why the camera from a desire s build works on a dhd and we cant use the informations about this for the hd2 ?
Because they both use two different camera modules. evident from the fact the dhd uses a 8mp camera whilst the hd2 uses 5. hence with two different camera modules, you'll need prolly two very different camera drivers. So looking at the camera driver for the dhd helps, but won't solve the problem.
Plus the desire hd and hd2 are two completely different devices, they use a different gpu, cpu, camera, screen, speaker, NAND, ram, everything. Each using a different set of drivers. Just because it works on the desire hd doesn't mean it will easily work on the hd2.
Anyways be patient, software isn't made overnight. If it was, it prolly doesn't even work.
Thanks a lot for your answer
I will hope they fix it soon.
Hello Folks,
Right now I'm using wildfire, but I don't like it any more. I'm planning to switch to HTC HD2. how good is it ?

Android runs perfectly without any performance issues for a longer time now.
There are a lot of roms in the Hd2 Android-nand section which are running without any bugs.
Which fits to you you have decide yourself.
I would recommend you to have a look at typoon(look at my sig), hyperdroid and nexusHD2..think thats a good start to begin with.
you would be best off getting a native android device
If you want a dualboot system with a SD-card-Android, than look here:

Go for a native android device
Of course there are some nice Android builds for HD2. BUT, nothing is perfect. For example I have these two issues that are not solved in any build.
1. The speaker volume (ringtones, notifications, music) is very low on android compared to windows mobile.
2. Whenever you press the wake up button the screen comes up only after 1 or 2 seconds.
So there are some issues like these. So better go for a native Android device.
I would have to second Pongsters Hyperdroid CM7 newest build. The only thing you need to do is replace the stock camera with another. Like the MIUI camera or the LG camera.

These issues are solved in some roms:
The sound is related to /system/lib/libaudio.so & /system/etc/firmware/default.acdb
I forget what the wake up lag is related to (Sensors lib i beleive)
I use a personally modded version of CyanogenMod-7 to run on my HD2 and don't suffer from your problems!
It does depend which rom you are using but you should be able to patch/replace those files!
Hope this helps

Hi....
In my opinion the graphic glitches are annoying in current gingerbread roms (as much as I experienced)... I use Desire DL roms from SD, but I'm looking for a relatively bug-free rom with htc-sense to flash instead of WM 6.5 and run android directly.... I'll be honored if someone could recommend me a rom, running as fast as possibe with least bugs, and specially without delay after installing applications or waking up on calls....
Thanks in advance...

Use official Miui from Miui-devs.com. Rom updated every week, if bugs are found, they usually get fixed with-in few days or in next weekly built.
so far i have no bugs. other that common signal bar issue that most in not all users have. Sense 2.1 ROM was also bug free for me.
is it true that running android via NAND has less battery consumption than via SD ?
cos I run via SD and the battery drops like a %every 2 minute...if I am on wifi...
Hi,
after searching it seems that only pre-gingerbread have proper working camcorders.
I'm guessing camcorder apps won't help?
I believe most gingerbread builds camcorders do work, but not in full 720p, only up to 480p

Yup. Gingerbread Sense is currently under development so the camcorder is not working fully yet. Some have lags too.
So, getting another app from the market won't help?
How about other builds? Should I bother testing them?

If you want to use HTC Sense builds and have a solid video camera, I'd stick with Froyo and Sense 2.0 for now. That said, I think we're all going to have to wait for the Desire Gingerbread source code to be released, before the video and graphical glitches can be completely fixed on our HD2's running GB Sense 2.1 or 3.0. Moreover, it may be a while before the source code hits the street, as the Desire GB update just came out.

Actually, from the NAND and SD GB builds (with or without Sense) that I've tested, the camcorder has always been slower and buggy compared to the HD2 Froyo builds. That said, the Sense builds have a working camcorder as well. Albeit slow and buggy, with or without third party camcorder apps.

Camcorder issues are kernel/system files related not app related. they can't be fixed by installing another app.
