Exchange Security - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Is there a way to avoid using exchange security? I would like to sync my work email. My job requires that personal phones utilize the exchange security.

Have you tried a vanilla android build (as in nonsense)? If you did and it work, in my old posts there is an email.apk ripped from vanilla android that solves problems some have had.. or pm me ur email address and ill send it to u.

Alternatively, have you tried one of the latest Sense ROMs? they have full support for Exchange, and it works on my company's policy, which is one of the strictest around. I have to PIN-unlock after 15 mins but I am okay with that for now.

Htc mail app

I guess we have to be rooted to put in the HTC MAIL APP that came with the desire in our incredible?
I hate that fact that it only gives you one option which is the single email view instead of the other options that is offered in the HTC Desire and Legend and soon EVO 4 by Sprint.
I hate it when carriers mess with basics. Why offer just one option of format for HTC MAIL if you are going to offer it at all. Just provide the entire Application without modifications!
Okay off soap box.
Sort of OT, but does anyone know how to set up a filter on exchange mail ?

[Q] Visual Voicemail NG After 3.14 Update

I recently updated my ROM to 3.14 and now my visual voicemail isn't working. Any ideas? It says it can't connect, try again later...
still investigating....
no work for me either and facebook won't refresh either...
Edit... forget it... facebook app still no refresh
I'm having the same problem, spent about an hour with their PDA department and was told it was being escalated and I should hear something within the next 3 days.....

Quick update, according to T-Mobile the issue has been logged as of the 30th of October as a nationwide issue and "they are working on the problem." Personally, I love the form of the HD2 and there are things about Winmo that I really like but I have had a number of issues with the phone and software to the point where I'm going to look at the new My touch 4G and go back to Android exclusively. Its not the Desire HD I was hoping T-Mobile was going to bring but it should keep me satisfied for 6 months or so.

Liberated Froyo or cm6 froyo?

Which froyo rom from Attn1 do you all prefer? Right now I'm running his liberated aria 2.1 rom, but I want FROYO!!! O:

Liberated all the way...
ditto. I dig sense far too much.
And that's the rom I got

+1 I played with CM6 for a bit yesterday. I do like Sense better but CM6 is more customizable and you can OC it. I do wish Liberated had a kernel that's compatible with setcpu. I also hope attn1 can find the solution for trackpad wake. Other than that, I'm happy with Liberated =)
Is the sense rom acting slow for anyone? Its really laggy on my aria...
And how far does cm6 oc to?

when the official update comes out, we will have an updated kernel to work with. And eventually HTC will release the sources - and hopefully someone will build a solid OC kernel.
I'm sticking with FRXXX for a while. I am settled on using Sense, though I do believe battery consumption is higher with Froyo. No solid proof, just a perception. Maybe it is because I am spending so much time in my phone. Not on my phone...IN my phone. After a failed CM flash, I had to redo all of my home screens and redo all of my settings. That was enough to make me not want to change again.
i had the 806 overclock kernel posted elsewhere on this site running with liberated fr. didn't really see any speed difference. phone is plenty speedy with fr06. did have some issues with browser crashing so switched back to default fr06 kernel.
I'm running CM6.1 overclocked to 806, there are a few things that I have noticed as far as speed improvement goes. No lag between screens, 3D app drawer is insanely fast, app launching is a bit faster, that's all I have seen so far. I loved Sense when I first got the phone, but now using a more Vanilla like layout, I don't think I would go back to it.

Thats one of the things though, I don't know if I will feel comfortable leaving sense, I loaded cm6 with 2.2 froyo and it was nice and all, but the fb syncronization and weather and all that left me feeling empty

I didnt think i could live without sense when i first got my aria so i put off flashing cm6 for a while and ran the liberated roms for a while. But i finally gave in to see what all the fuss was about with CM6. I was missing sense for a little while until i started to discover everything i could do with the cm6 rom. Once I started digging into the customization and discovering all that the cm6 rom has to offer I started to realize that I would never want to go back to sense. Admittedly it took a while to get used to the look and feel of cm6 and not having sense but now I dont miss it what so ever. And when I did flash one of the latest liberated roms a couple weeks ago just see how it was coming along I immediately missed cm6 and flashed back. And the newest update to 6.1 is the best this rom has ever been.
And there are alternatives to the sense weather widgets available for cm6, and as far as fb goes, i have fb synced on cm6. Definitely no problems there.

How did you sync fb? I couldn't even sign in with my google account on the newest cm6, even manually it wouldn't sign in, so I wouldn't be able to if there is an option

interresting - i'm running liberated FR006 and happy with it. From what i've seen of standard froyo and CM6, a main thing i dont like is the contacts manager/people app. i like how the Sense UI integrates the "groups" from your gmail contacts. I may flash CM6 and try it for a few days., but i am very happy with liberated.

I want to keep liberated but for some reason its extremely slow and laggy. But like you said the contact manager sucks and for some reason none of my contacts will sync over from Google. And I can't restore my liberated r012 backup because the image is corrupt

Nevermind, the backup worked, im just gunna stick with r012 for a while

When i first log into the fb app it asks me if i want to sync. From that point on fb shows up in Menu>Accounts & Sync, where I can then turn on/off sync for fb (and google as well).
I've been running the CM6.0.1-RC1-Liberty for several days now. I really like it a lot! Especially the built in music player, the power control widget is brilliant!, and virtually everything internal to the phone is customizable in the settings. However, apps keep restarting by themselves, even after running the set permissions feature that automatically re-configures every app on the phone. Also, the SIM tool box is missing, so I can't access any of my contacts. Any contacts that are installed automatically sync to g-mail. I keep my contacts on the SIM specifically to protect the privacy of my contacts! I am sure they don't want their information synced to g-mail servers. While there may be a feature in the myriad of settings options to keep this from happening, I couldn't find it.
Today, I am going to flash to the Liberated Froyo with sense. Depending on what I get in terms of default apps, and most importantly, speed, I may add the Overclocking kernal as well. By Sunday, I should be able to make a decision as to which one I plan on keeping permanently. (I will move the contacts from the SIM to the phone this time, in case I want to go back to CM6!)
I will post my opinions as to which one of the two ROMs I like the best on Sunday after comparing.

TMOUS My Account working for Android now

For those of us TMOUS users running Android and was to use the My Account app, It should be working now. I twittered to T-mobile and asked if they could add us users that use Android on out phones to be able to access and use the app. They must have thought it was a great idea, because now, I can use the app. Talk about a speedy response, specially with the CES going on.
Have fun and happy 'droiding.

...not to bust your bubble there...but we have been able to do this for quite some time with the proper version of Android.
oh, I had problems with all tbe roms I have tried. But, they said they were going to add it

htcsense.com not working as it should and what are HTC doing

I have noticed most people are having problems using htcsense.com with the HTC Desire HD and I am no different. They appear to be upgrading there server but why is it taking months? as people have been having problems for months now.
I sent htc an email about htcsense.com and this is the response I had
"Over the past few months HTC has been undertaking an upgrade to HTCSense.com in order to enhance the web experience for our customers, extend service availability and increase service quality and uptime. During this upgrade process some people may experience some fluctuation in the services and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We are implementing an update in the next month that should minimize most service problems. Currently, accounts have these main features: find my phone, call and message forwarding and lock and erase my phone. Over the next few months as we complete the upgrade, more features will be added into accounts. We appreciate your patience and support as we work to make the HTCSense.com experience even better."

Effectively, it is still a beta service from the sounds of it. Services like that require a lot of testing, and the best way to test it is by releasing it to everyone. Massive load on servers, means they can upgrade/tune it as needed.
Mine says that its not enabled on my phone and it gives you the relevant steps to enable, but it is all active on the phone, is this down to this server issue/upgrade issue? I'm not to bothered but be nice to know the service is there (and working) if god forbid it got lost or stolen.
Anyhow thanks for the information.

I had that problem too after I started using custom ROMs. Fortunately I found out that if I deleted the account on the phone aswell as on the website (htcsense.com) and used the phone to create it again, then it works. Try that
- Martin
It used to work for me the first time, now my phone is not found anymore and no action works. The only thing I keep getting is that anoying "Friends - contacts matches" crap that doesn't even work right. I'm using stock rom, not rooted or aything. Also country selection is a complete fail since not all countries where HTC phones are sold are listed, so I always select UK. They really should fix this service soon.
I had to factory reset my phone to fix a CPU utilization issue, Now after re entering the HTC account info, the gps phone location bit on HTC sense does now at least show a map, but thinks I'm in Africa... admittedly I haunt used the gps to update so will try that but functions like ring phone just fail... so better but not great....
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Hmmm now its working ok, but the gps location thing keeps coming on on its own so that's annoying so yeah try re-installing the app and or re creating the account.
I do.d the friend link thing ok, not part of HTC sense online service tho =]
Hope you sort it! Or it gets sorted!

I do not suggest to use htc sync. Its totally crap. Many have encountered problems and even lost data. Even htc rep admits its still a work in progress.

I totally agree, I installed it so I could transfer my contacts from Outlook onto my DHD. It just says Outlook was preventing it, but I could see nothing wrong, ended up saving the contacts out as a file and sending it over Bluetooth.
It's a shame HTC sense on the phone and the hardware is prity flawless, the pc and online software is really setting the game down.
Hopefully they sort it out with updates.

Hi
Got my Desire HD yesterday guys, I'm in Ireland. Surprise surprise HTCSense.com cannot locate my phone even though all the settings are turned on etc. I e-mailed them and got the usual about the service being upgraded yada yada!!
I read on the Teachradar review (http://www.techradar.com/reviews/phones/mobile-phones/htc-desire-hd-717295/review?artc_pg=9) that this was an issue back in October as well, cannot believe its still not fixed :-(
Cheers,
M
PS: Love my Desire HD but would love to have the find my phone feature actually working too!!
Ok this might help you if you are having issues with htcsense.com :
First htcsense didn't pork for me on FireFox 4 hut worked perfection IE9 no idea why put must be something related to plungins
Second the location service didnt work for me despite ableing the location on my settings, well actually that was due to my HD2 running desire HD Rom and in which I used my htcsencse account. Once I removed the Android from my HD2 I reinstalled a different desire HD Rom on it without login the htcsense, the location for my desire HD worked.
