[Q] 2 Error messages - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hello all,
after trying diffrents builds, i finally found one that has a stable data connection with my hd2.
Only problem is that, with this build, i get 2 error messages, which i hope can be fixed.
When i try to browse my contacts i get this error:
proces com.htccontacts
and it immediately closes my contacts again.
Occasionaly when i boot into android i get this:
proces com.htc.opensense.pluginmanager
This error also occurs when i try to uninstall an app.
The lather error message doesn't bother me that much, cause its not failing my phone. I can still uninstall an app, only it gives an error, but the app is still gone.
The error with my contacts, is really bugging me, i can't edit anything, and i can only add, when i enter the number, and save it from there to contacts. Possible, but not ideal.
Hope somebody has an option, Thanks in advanced
EDIT: obviously helps when i post my specs

Booting error with SpbTime & Activekitchen Chronos

Anyone have the same problem or any thoughts on this one.
I have a Cingular 8525 Phone
Rom version 1.34.502.1
Rom Date 09/21/06
Radio Version 1.16.00.00
Protocol version 32.53.7018.01H
I have loaded Chronos version 2.9.5,
when ever I soft reset my phone I get an error message at startup of
"Cannot execute \Windows\ChronosStartup.exe"
This error message window pops up 2 to 5 times. This will sometime cause my phone to halt in the middle of booting (at the blue Windows 5.0 screen)
I have attached a screen captures of the error message and the about screen from Chronos.
I also tried SpbTime 2.1.2 and get a simluar error message of
"Cannot execute \Windows\SpbTime.exe"
i got this answer from SPB:-
"I would like to apologize for the inconvenience with Spb Time.
Unfortunately, such problem happens on some specific devices. Yet, we've already found a workaround.
Could you please try the following:
- Uninstall Spb Time
- Reinstall it again
- Immediately after that run UnregNotify.exe, which can be downloaded from:
http://www.softspb.com/downloads/time/UnregNotify.zip "
Doesn't to appear to happen any longer (prob i had was "can't execute \windows\spbtimenotify.exe")
Thanks
I'll give it a try and let you know if it fixes my problem.
I was getting the same error of "can't execute \windows\spbtimenotify.exe"
guess I just mis-typed it in my orginal posting.
Thanks.
Ok I unistalled it and reinstalled and ran the UnregNotify.exe. Just soft booted and no error. Working fine now.
Thanks again
I found out that this is caused by the Time Zones setting in the phone settings. If it is checked, it causes this error. Once I unchecked it, the problem went away.

I tried unchecking the Time zone setting. This but it had no effect on the phone with either Spb Time or Activekitchen Chronos.
I will stick with the fix for Spb Time.
Thanks for the help all

HD2 Send/Don't Send Report Err Messages at Startup

Hi,
I've been using my HD2 for some weeks now and yesterday it out of a sudden started bursting error messages one after another.
First at startup i get:
- "A problem has occured with ConnectionSetupAuto.exe" Please tell Microsoft about this.... Don't Send/Send
I get similiar messages whenever I try opening my Messages:
- "A problem has occured with Messaging_Client.exe" and i can't access them.
Same goes on and on with Comms Manager etc..Tried a Soft Reset but it did not help.
My question is if something could be done before I go for a Hard Reset?
Searched the forum but didn't find such a topic so I post this one.
Thanks in advance.
Just disable the error reporting It doesn't actually solve the problem but i found out that whenever i get an error it still works.

Where disable that?
Disabling the error reporting wouldn't have fixed it as most of the applications weren't running due to these err messages - couldn't open messages, comms manager, system settings etc...so i went for a hard reset and everything's fine now.
Thanks.

sorry the application com.android.settings stopped unexpectedly

Hi there, desperate dutchman here!
I´ve been searching like crazy to get my problem solved. Uptill now everything was working fine!
Getting this error with every build I've tried (Mattc 1.5(b), Xcelsior, Darkstone, shubCRAFT)
Right after booting up, I get the notification that the SIM-card has changed. When clicking on the notification I get this message:
I keep getting this error message: sorry the application com.android.settings stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
I get the same message when I go to Settings -> Wireless & networks -> Mobile networks -> Access Point Names
I can't get 3g working this way.
Thing's I've done:
Task 29 and reflash ChuckyDroid (most recent ROM)
Format SD card (using Windows Vista: fat32, allocation size: default, not quick)
RADIO: 2.10.50.26
HSPL: 2.08
I only have a folder called "Android" on the SD-card.
PLease help me out. I've been reading like every single topic on this forum and still no answer :'(
thanks in advance
All of this happens on mine too.
Radio: 2.08.05.02
HSPL: 2.08
Darkstone FroyoStone Android and stock O2 UK 1.72 Windows Mobile ROM.

Ok this is weird. I just replace ChuckyDroidROM with Energy barebone:
http://hotfile.com/dl/60712595/1d3e34f/Energy.Leo.21911.Barebones_WM_Build.For.Android.7z.html
Rebooted, started Android, got the same error when clicking on the notification about having changed my SIM-card. Same message when I want to select an APN.
BUT, when I check "Mobile network" it doesn't fail anymore! Well, it goes on and off, and on and off, and then it stayed on (for 5 mins now...)
Still, need someone who can explain this to me/us

Class is 6, 8 gb, have tried a lot of build with them, also with my current radio (2.10.50.26) and different kernels. Never had any trouble.
Maybe I should try another kernel? I'm looking for a way to start analysing this error: is it kernel related, or module related, hardware, rom, radio?
Installing Energy's bareboneROM suggests it has something to do with the rom. But birkoff didn't make any great changes to his rom (the version before the on of 16th august worked fine), only another Droid-loader.
I get this error too , but i think its just a bug which will be fixed soon , i just click force close , and everything works fine
Same problem here. Get the same message.
Radio 2.12.50....
Android FroyoStone by darkstone V1 07-08-2010
WM ROM Artemis V17

'G' works great. '3G' goes on and off all the time. 'H' too..
So I went to 'networks' (Netwerken) --> 'Mobile networks' (Mobiele netwerken) --> 'Netwerk mode?' (Netwerkmodus) and turnt it to 'only GSM' (Alleen GSM).
So now I got only GPRS and no 3G/H. But got a steady connection.

I have no idea why, but using a program like "APN Backup" (free on marketplace) to delete all the APN records seems to fix the error. Only thing is you need to make sure you have the correct APN settings to re-enter for your provider, otherwise you'll lose your data connection. I can't for the life of me remember where I found the APN details I needed though... I'm sure it was on XDA.
If you do use APN backup, remember to back them all up before you delete them - so if it all goes wrong you can restore it back to how it was.
more or less the same
same issues, with most of the ROMS apart the shubcraft.
regards
happened to me several times too
seems like i only happens when i was using Titanium backup...
so how its breaking GMAIL. i reformatted and just reinstalld everyting manually and it haven't had the message yet.
Regards,
I had this problem with Froyostone - on shubcraft now and it's fine.
The following works:

...but in my case had the side effect of disabling all sound, inc calls, rendering the phone pretty unusable.
APN details for uk providers here:
http://www.unlocks.co.uk/gprs_settings.php#uk
Not sure if the rest are on the same site - haven't had time to look.
I use 12.50 radio and am a t-mo UK customer, though my handset was sim free.
Hoping this is absent in the V2 of froyostone, cause i'd love a working sense rom to play with

Thanks a lot, I'll test it as soon as I can!!
EDIT: ok, I got rid of the error message, so far so good. I manually added my APN (vodafone), but still no working network connection(3g/H). When I check "Network connection", I get the message (translated from dutch) "connection failed".
I got the same error message related to the sim card, but everything else works just fine 3G, wifi etc. (same as Jalaluddin).
Not sure if the sim card error is related with your 3G issue.
I run a stock WM rom with radio 2.10.50.26 and mattc 1.5b froyo with sense.
Update: I've just tried [BUILD][17.08.2010][mattc Leo + Froyo w/Sense 1.5b][Kernel: huanyu 2.6.32.9 #6] to use it's full title and have encountered the same issue.
Not sure if it's directly sense related, but it seems to be happening with every sense build i try. Gutted!
a bit of a niggle but not a problem, unless someone can relate this to the current problems facing us atm. like screen freezes, delay in waking up etc.

Well, it's more than just a niggle for me, because the proposed fix breaks sound, and after a restart it always goes back to FCing on the APN settings page and data calls not working. So I can either have sound or data, but not both
But i take your point, it's hardly widespread, and there are non-sense builds (like shubcraft, which i'm using atm and is awesome) which don't exhibit the problem. Wonder if it is a sim card issue though. Are the other people who've experienced the bug UK T-mo users like me?

Update: Unfortunately not even this worked for me! First tried the backup->delete->restart->restore->restart but the settings page still FCd.
Then i installed root explorer and replaced the telephony db with the file you provided in that thread, then restarted the phone, but still no luck.
Seems determined not to work. Back to shubcraft i go
EDIT: OK, looks like i spoke too soon! The phone still FCd if i followed the notification about sim card having changed, and it still FCd if i tried the htc setup wizard, but if i navigate directly to the APN menu under settings, hey presto, i have three valid entries I doubled checked, and both data and sound work. Just restarting the phone to see whether the "sim card changed" notification comes back and the problem re-emerges...
EDIT2: Annoying "Sim card changed" notifcation came back, and sure enough FCd if i clicked on it, but data calls still work and the APN settings page is still fine. Just have to put up with the notification every-time i rr. Many thanks for the help Rogerek!

Having issues with Gmail

i had to Nandroid the other day. im on stock rooted EVO rom. i noticed i tried to send an email and it is stuck on sending status. In fact, it doesnt send. I recieve email with no problem, but if i check it on my phone, it does not sync up with my desktop gmail. im thinking something is wrong with the outgoing service... has anyone else had this issue? any ideas on how to fix?
hmm, i seemed to have found a fix... went to manage app's and force stopped, cleared data, and cache. syncing is back in order... hope this helps someone in the future.
Had the same thing happen to me recently. I tried force closing and reopening, but that didn't help...didn't try wiping the cache.
I did find another workaround that helps:
Issue 2565: GMail: message stuck on "Sending..."
Comment 8 by travis.swanston, Aug 09, 2010
WORKAROUND TO THIS ISSUE:
This is somewhat labor-intensive if you have a lot of stuck messages, but it worked perfectly for me:
1. Open "outbox".
2. Open thread with stuck message.
3. Reply to the first message in the thread, but when it presents you with the reply window, simply save the empty message as a "draft".
4. Back out of "outbox", and enter "drafts".
5. Open the appropriate thread. Instead of the draft you just created, it will instead open the first stuck message as a draft. From here, I think you can do whatever you want - either discard or send. If there is more than one stuck message in this thread, simply keep opening the thread in "drafts" - and each time it will move you to the first remaining stuck message in that thread. When you finally make your way down to the (empty) draft you just created, you can simply discard that.
6. Repeat this process for all stuck messages in the threads in "outbox".

See you Soon Guys
Hey all, thanks so much for developing this. It is amazing... I have successfully installed Android and has been running it for several times now. Everything is great. I can download and use all the Apps with no problem.
However just few days ago, I am starting to get an error when I boot Android from WinMo. The pop-up error reads, "Sorry! The process android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."
After clicking on a button which says "Force Close" on the pop-up, the error appears again and again - and it's never ending. However I can still see Android loading and updating at the back. Just that this error keeps coming up repeatedly, and I have no choice but to off my phone and have it run only on WinMo.
I appreciate on any advice that you may have so that I can run Android again. Thanks in advance!

Do you mean trying without the sim card option?
- Since I am not running android for the first time, I did not remove the sim card when I did a re-boot on Android.
Or clearing all contacts information?
- Cos i have my contacts on my sim card. So i did not do any synchronization and importing of my contacts from Gmail.
Did I miss anything out? Or am I doing anything wrong?
Once again, thanks so much for your help and guidance..

I meant clearing contacts yeah,sorry
seems it worked for others
I would sugest an sd card format and Android re-install,there might be an sd card error which persists..
did you also try http://tinyurl.com/3zanh95 ?
p.s. when you set up phone for 1st time did you put your tweeter login in HTC wizard form?

Thanks so much for the advice.. but I pretty much guessed that it was best to do a SD card reformat and Android re-installation..
I was just hoping that there was a better way than to do that..
I must have done "some thing wrong" while running on Android which caused that error..
But yeah, thanks anyway! Appreciate it loads..
uhhhh.. i don't tweet.. so i am quite sure that would be a "No"...
besides, i have been running Android for very many times before this..
Until one day, i boot Android from WinMo like how I always do.. I WASN'T trying to do anything else.. just a Boot..
And the error appeared, and it just keeps on coming endlessly.. with Android running in the background..
problem on setting/wireless and network/mobile data/access point name
hi i have a problem with that page when i try to enter gives me an error.
i have also a problem with data mobile, after installed some app(i don't know exatly wich one cause problem, but i think one which on edition page say block apn when data are less ... MB),and then i can't connect with mobile internet but only wi-fi.
