Use Kies Mini, its the Samsung recommended method to update.

I know i can use kies mini because i dont know if i will get the froyo ota. Maybe you can use kies mini when froyo comes out.

If not then they will issue a new Kies Mini specifically for Froyo. Either way I wouldn't worry about it.

Very simple question:
How are we supposed to upgrade the Bell Canada Galaxy Tab?
Either Bell will issue an update or you can flash the unbranded firmware and get the updates as Samsung pushed them. People correct me if I am wrong but I think this is how it will/does work.
That's correct. Though they never notify you about Kies updates.
So you would do it through Kies?
The problem is that I can't Kies to recognize my Tab.
Or is it over the air?

Kies doesn't recognize your Tab because Kies hasn't been updated to recognize your Tab. Before they roll out a Bell Tab update, they'll roll out a Kies update, and Kies will let you know there is an update for it.
TLDR; You're not missing anything yet, and there is no OTA for Galaxy devices in Canada (or most of the world, for that matter).
Thanks,
I'll try to make Kies work on my win7 pc and then watch for updates.
(unfortunate that they don't have a Mac version)

As far as i'm aware, no GSM Tabs have ever received an OTA update, as it is all done through Kies.
Regards,
Dave
We learn a new thing every day. Never knew some tabs even had OTA option.
Thanks all.
Its just my 3rd day with TAB. Had HTC desire HD before it.

No! - works under bootcamp fine
Anyone know how to get into the Samsung forum or even where it is.
There site would win an award for the crappyist site on the internet. I've been searching it for over half an hour and still can't fined it.
I've a pain in my left one waiting for these morons to launch the Gingerbread update on the SGS I9000
I wanted to see if we where going to get the update before I retire in 25 years time.
I tried the z4root (Temporary Root) and nothing happened. I don't want to do a permanent root and get locked out of Keis just as Gingerbread becomes available.
The phone is lagging something terrible and I need to fix it. I installed Dolphin Browser and love the interface and how it all works but its un-usable it the phone just hangs when using it.
I love the phone but I'm really starting to get major pissed off with it and Samsung.
Rooting the phone has nothing to do with updating via Kies. I've updated my rooted phone twice using Kies.

I thought once you root the phone it no longer updates via Keis??
I tried a temp root using z4root and nothing happened. I looked like it was doing it then the phone went back to the normal screen and no superuser or anything?
I haven't tried the Permanent Root yet as I'm not sure it won't brick my phone.
It's Kies, not Keis. Root with Superoneclick. And no, root doesn't affect the updating with Kies.

OK I have rooted my Phone using the steps here
http://www.darkyrom.com/community/i...-darkyrom-gingerbread-jvh-noob-friendly.3080/
But I have not installed the Darky Rom
I installed Ficeto_JVH_Odin and it is now rooted with this but my Gmail won't sync.
If someone sent me an email it would come in instantly.
I have sent myself 4 test emails and none of them have come in.
The update has made the phone much faster but I really need to get my emails to sync again as I have 8 email address that I use all the time.
I have also lost the swype keyboard.
Any help please. Here is the new details on the phone.
Model: GT-I9000
Firmware: 2.3.3
Baseband: I9000XXJVO
Kernel: 2.6.35.7-I9000XWJVH-CL184813 / [email protected] #Dark_core_2.3
Build: Darky.Deodexed.XWJVH
Just installed the darky 10.1 on my system and its fantastic.
The phone is bombing along. Done a benchmark on it and its coming out on top.
Even got the chance to show it off to friends with standard sgs

I fully bricked my vibrant by using 2.3 bootloaders and flashing back to stock 2.1 without flashing eclair/froyo bootloaders first (duh) to update through kies to 2.2. It would not power on at all. I sent it to mobiletechvideos.com in Texas and within a week my vibrant was jtagged and now the wife is using it with no issues at all. The service was only $50.00 and well worth the cost and wait as the vibrant is good as new to flash, flash away! Thanks Josh!

let me understand:
you flashed 2.1 by clockwork mod? because my last time i flashed 2.1 through odin, without changing the bootloader first.
I flashed through odin to 2.1 then I was using kies to update to 2.2 but I should have flashed 2.2 bootloaders before using kies. I should have fully explained myself...sorry.

What is the easiest way to install 2.3.4 version or newer to my Galaxy S2 4G current is 2.3.3. I will be using it in Canada.. Thanks
Official way: Check if KIES is offering you a firmware
Unofficial way: You can download the firmware from the Dev section Stock or Custom and then flash it using Odin
Stock: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
Also explains how to flash. Please read how to flash and DO SELECT only what is given. Selecing PIT in ODIN leads to BRICK and unusable
Thanks for the info!!! If I do update it will put everything to normal right and it will unroot the phone?

Don't understand the 'put everything to normal' part but after flashing any ROM you will lose root. Need to re root.
Regards.

Thats fine no too worry about root normal i meant everything will go back to stock or factory state condition. That triangle will go away too right after flashing the rom? thanks for your quick response
If you use one of the stock roms there is no yellow triangle. You wont see carrier animation on boot, but that is a good thing in my opinion. It's as if you bought an unlocked phone not tied to a network.

I wonder if this court injunction by apple will slow the rollout of v2.3.4 to the rest of Europe, I hope not i am sick of waiting as it is.
So just odin right? Not sure which stock rom I can use with it been searching around here and seen so many of them.

You did read the 1st post of that link right? I mean specifically the part that said "Flashing firmware with Odin" and had the usless screenshots and stuff.
