when i tried to ask him what it shows when you try to boot.. he played dumb.. i find it hard to believe if he knows how to get to recovery mode ... trying to pawn it off on someone else.
voodoo him
Makes you wonder if ......
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=819551
.....would work?
a usb jig to force Samsung 'Anyway' download mode when 3 button option is not available
the 3 button problem is not the issue
the scary thing is if that seller is selling it because the Internal SD is fried
i know that is why i asked him what message when booting.. i was tryng to see f it was just some idiot that ffd up and it just needs a reflash.. but the feeling i get from his playing dumb is that the sd is fried and he knows it and doesnt have a receipt or something or it is hot.. and it is hosed and need to be sent in and he knows it.

(first of all, I didn't knew where else to post this topic to ask this, excuse me if it's posted somewhere wrong)
So I kinda gave up on my magic, R.i.P.
now i was wondering...
that if I take my phone back to the store... and that i shouldn't get a new one immediatly, bcuz they have to send it to htc facotry... how big is the chance they will know I rooted it and it didn't just mallfunction from its own?
or isn't it possible that they just throw in some new rom? They made it so it shouldn't be to hard to get that fixed...
anyone perhaps has experience with sending back his phone or going back to the store?
tell me what happened... did you get a new one, did you had to pay something to get it fixed or just bought a new phone...
all information is welcome either here on the board or by email first_dimension at hotmail dot com <-
thanks ahead guys...
greetings
a desperate dumazz belgian guy who ****ed up his phone badly
What has actually happened to your phone, can you describe the problem please, it may not have to go back to the repair center. Thanks
uhm, while flashing it, it fell down of my desk, battery got disconnected, ...
now i get my "proximus" (wich is my mobile provider) startup screen, wich doesn't go away
cant enter boot menu (by pressing menu + power on)
nor safe mode (home + power on)
cant even connect to my computer to flash a new rom or anything...
so it's completely bricked i been looking on the internet for days now tried every solution...
nada man...
nothing more than my startup screen...
(edit)
the only thing i can still do is like, when i hit the trackball and power on button it lights up a blue led...
but i read every magic does that even if not bricked...
I heard that someone thought they bricked their phone because they couldn't do anything with all the button combinations but when they tried fastboot it worked and unbricked their phone. I mean he didn't go into fastboot, he just plugged his phone in via usb and just tried fastboot.
I'm saying try fastboot. If that doesn't work then I'm sorry but you have to return it to get it fixed but since they can't get into anything I'm sure they won't know that it is bricked.
thanks for the reply m8, but i tried this already...
just sais waiting for device or sumthing...
i think i read that answer on some other board aswell that someone was lucky enuf to have that but not here, not in my case
bummer i guess...
My carrier offers insurance to replace a phone even if it was lost or stolen. If this was an option for you, I guess you would have already thought about reporting it "stolen," but I figured I'd mention it anyway.
Sorry to hear about your phone.
I bricked my mytouch and I just called T-mo customer service and they're sending me a replacement for free since it's still under warranty.
Guys!
Need help.
Have been looking around the net for a solution in vain, hence i turn to the pro's .
My friend was trying to flash my phone with JP6. Somehow after connecting through ODIN, whilst being in the download mode the connection got interrupted.
Now im stuck with that annoying yellow triangle with an exclamation mark, in between a computer and a cellphone, after every time i boot it up.
I cannot access either download nor recovery mode. Am I looking at a paperweight of a phone or is this actually fixable ? Very grateful for any sort of advice!
It actually became a paperweight man! No download mode means you can't re-flash it. Return it to Samsung and pray they will repair it through warranty.
Is that really the only option?
yes, your phone is unable to boot, maybe its boot area has been corrupted, you cannot do anything to wake it up unless you have exclusive device that can access to inner system.
Send it back to Samsung or use Riff Jtag box to repair it (ask Google for "samsung galaxy s riff jtag")
Had the same issue. U just didnt or dont have anymore the 3 button combo. Nothing a hair drier can't fix. Yes believe it or not. It worked for me. Heat it up. Do the combo
Success. If it doesnt work. More blowing! And try again.
If you dont want to take the risk takw it back to your seller.
I have heard about this heating up with a blow-dryer business. However, for me seems to be more of an easter egg than an actual solution to not being able to access your phone. Think im leaning towards sending it back to the retailer, unless someone has a bright idea of what can be done.
Maybe ill heat it up with a radiator once i get very desperate :/
i was updating my vibrant phone in kies and i thought the file was still being downloaded when i received a call.
i took the call and got off as soon as possible.
when the installation finished it started to reboot but never made it and i have not been able to get any kind of start-up screen at all.
i am totally bricked.
before the update i was able to get into download mode but no more.
no two button or three button combos work.
i am leaving the battery out all night and will try again tomorrow but i am not hopeful.
moral of the story is take out the damn sim card when updating so as not to screw up the download.
sigh.
anyone have any ideas what to do with the boat anchor besides trying to talk t-mobile into taking it back.
Same thing happened to me a while back.
the only way of resurrecting your phone if its COMPLETELY bricked is to use a JIG box... Google it... Otherwise its basically paperweight and if you have insurance call it in lost or stolen.
You corrupted the bootloader.
all the jig boxes say they get the phone into download mode.
however one of the ebay vendors says:
If your phone screen is always black, turn it on and if it stays completely black, then sorry, but NO USB jig will help you.
so i don't understand how the jig will help me since i cannot get any response from the phone at all.
how is the jig wired.
do you know.
thanks.

You can try the jig it may work for you connextion2005 sells for 8 bucks. You can try to push the bootloader through adb, don;t know you exact situation. If those don't work then you could return it and clam under warranty that the it got jacked up when updating on Kies, and get a new phone. (refurbished one probably)
Good luck
This happened to me a while ago and i could not get into recovery or download mode at all. I did the search on the forums, and there was a way to get it back into download mode. Just search it and it might work for you. i'm sorry i don't remember the method itself but good luck.
EDIT: this is not it, but try the "no-boot method"

I've never used kies just like I never used activesync .
the no boot method didn't work for me.
i will probably try the jig method one of these days but i don't have much hope for that either.
airplane mode is a good idea when updating..
should be mentioned more often.
what do people use instead of kies for updating and backups.
thanks
i made my own jig with a 301k resistor and a usb connector and there was no joy.
i think i am dead in the water.
i am thinking of getting a phone with a broken screen and swapping out the screens.
is that a tough job?
I have two Galaxy S gt-i9000m both with Bell and I live in Newfoundland which is the 850mhz radio as well.
One phone became bricked few months ago when I started getting random reboots I changed rom, it converted fs from rfs to ext4 and recovery gave some screens to go through but at this time I was only new, I messed up and my internal sd started causing issues. It was when gingerbread first arrived
I used odin to flash a number of firmwares, but now I feel I was not doing odin correctly, regarding bootloader and partitioning, anyway what ended up making the actual "BRICK" was when I flashed a vibrant rom and rebooted, now its a perm black screen.
If I have a fully charged battery and leave in, it dies overnight, If i plug usb in, the motherboard heats up very noticably, but no sound, no connection through device manage, nothing at all, no matter what tricks or buttons I try.
So not I have another identical phone that works perfectly. I have been researching if there was a way using my good phone to flash a chip, or solder something together could I fix it but I could not find any relevant info.
So I am left with the jtag/riffbox.
Can someone do this service for me, I dont want to actually buy one just to use it once, or can someone help me fix my bricked galaxy s, I will pay you for info that helps as well as put videos up, etc.
Please I have been last 4 months trying when I have free time, someone that knows how to help me, please do!!!
Thanks,
Dave Husk

**EDIT**
I would love to work with someone, I attached pictures of my phone's internal parts including chip shots, and i also took a picture of my sim card writer, which is a serial to usb device and I'm sure somehow I can solder together to make a device to help unbrick our SGS's, I am even willing to send free of charge to the next person in need, and pay for shipping to continue the good will as every bricked SGS owner deserves HELP!
**EDIT 2**
I also already have a Download mode jig, the 301k resistor here as well
Does the download jig do anything?
If not your into specialized territory with the jtag stuff. I would add to an existing thread on that and hope someone is still watching it.
G
There are jtag shops in TO that can do it (on xda somewhere) and you could likely ship it to them and get the service.
Before I state my problem, I'd like to say how I used my phone. I never rooted it, I never downloaded any apps that I didn't trust and I always kept a good maintenance on my phone. I do have a 16 gb micro sd on the phone, different from what the manufacturer gave which was a 8 gb micro sd.
One day, I woke up and noticed my phones alarm didn't go off, it was just stuck on the bootscreen where it said mytouch 4g. I tried letting the battery drain and recharging it and repeating that a few times and nothing happened. I held my phones volume down and press the power button and pressed recovery and the hard reset option to no avail. I found out I was missing this img.zip file so I formatted my 16gb microsd and put the zip in the root. I pressed the down volume and power again and it begin loading the zip and it asked me to start the update by pressing the up volume, which I did. Now this is what shows up on my phone.

At number nine, I'm pretty sure the phone freezes because it's stayed like that for 30 minutes. Is there anything I can do or is my phone done?
I don't know what it could be cause I only used the in market apps and used it for calling, I never rooted it and I always had it protected in my cover.
How many more people will ask this...
Fail-PU = phone dead. Completely dead, no chance of recovery whatsoever.
Seriously Jack? It is his first post and he never rooted his phone. If you do a search for fail PU all you get is returns that deal with rooting and flashing, so I don't know why his question upset you so much.
But yes, your phone is dead.
possible solution
this might work.... since you like your phone unrooted and it is stock.... your local t-mobile store has the update to the mt4g on an sd card.... take it to your local t-mobile store with your phone fully charged.... let them know your situation... let them do the update.... if it does not work.... they should set you up with a warranty replacement with gingerbread... cheers!
I just wanted to thank everyone for their help. I had noticed only one other thread saying just "you're done" about the fail-pu thing when I searched mytouch 4g fail-pu which is why I made a thread about my phone, I wasn't 100% sure if my phone was bricked or not. I'm going to go to tmobile tomorrow and ask them if they can repair it or get it replaced, if not, I'll try contacting HTC (I think that's the company that made the phone) and ask if they can do anything for me. Again, thanks for all the help =].
Your thread, together with another couple of threads, inspired me to make a troubleshooting guide for MT4G.
The guide is in Troubleshooting section in Glacier Wiki, link in my signature.
Question
so what exactly causes this because just had the same problem?

the cause of Fail-PU is because the eMMC chip has died, meaning you cannot write anything to the phone anymore. as of now, there is no way of fixing it. if you know adb and adb can see your device, look up the eMMC serial and it should turn out as M4G2DE.
twitpicdotcom/79n6vs
I got the same thing.
Same problem
I have same problem.
so what is the solution.? is it bricked ?
hey guys what is the real time solution for fail-pu problem on my touch 4g,
"phone is dead is not a solution".
Then we have no solution for you. It's a paperweight. Telling us the phone is dead is not a solution doesn't magically bring it back to life. If the eMMC fails, you have no access to the partitions in which the data resides that makes the phone useful. Sorry.

Upgrade time? Warranty exchange? Or send it in to htc for repair...just make sure they can't tell you are rooted or you will pay more than what is worth
