I installed tomtom onto my phone from a sd card that came with phone ,it installed perfectly but when i took out the card and put my own sd card back in although i could still get to the tomtom installation there were no maps ,my question is can i transfer the maps to the sd card i use.
you have to copy the maps on your SD card to be able to use them. Do maps work when you use that other SD card? in that case it is a matter of copying the files from that other sd card to your own

sorry if this has already been asked. I couldn't find anything through the search facility.
I have an unlocked m600 (Prophet) and have bought tomtom6 with UK maps. It all works fine, except I have a 2gb SD card which i want to install tomtom onto so i do not have to carry more than one card. Is this possible? Can anybody help me with a step by step guide for idiots on how to do it?
ok, I've managed to find posts that say copy all to a temp folder onto a pc and then copy onto new storage card and it should work, but i only see a no maps installed error message. It's the same PDA so there shouldn't be any problems with the activation code. ( i think)
thanks for any help/light you guys/girls can shed on it.
the map file has to be in the 1 level dir. Example this will not work "Storage card\TomTom\Map" . This will work "Storage card\TomTomMap"
From my experiance, if it is original TomTom SD card then you may have a problem copying it because they do something to it to prevent it from being copied. I have tried this with TomTom for GO 510. As yet I have not foud the solution to copying the TomTom card. You have nothing to lose if you copy your TomTom card to PC and than back to the other card and than try it.
I have a strange problem. When I click the the Google maps cab & the device prompts whether to load in Device or Storage Card, I choose storage card but it still installs onto the device memory.
I uninstalled & reinstalled but it still won't install onto sd card.
I tried other programs & they install onto the sd card without problems.
Any ideas?
I've had the same problem.
It doesnt give the option of installing to anywhere and after it's downloaded some 'cashe' it takes up near 1MB!!
Is it worth it??
I might just stick to Livesearch.
Hey guys,
I bought a mini sdhc 4gb store card to replace my onde one.
Is possible migrate all the software and data I have on my 1gb storage to this new one without having to hardreset and reinstalll/ uninstall all the programs ?
When I change my SD card, my phone freeezes because of some interaction with the currently 1g SD card but when I boot using Safe mode I see that the 4 gb card is fully functional.
Do you know if is this possible?
Thanks in advance!

Hello,
A micro SD card came with the phone. By browsing the card from my computer it looks like it contains the Route66 maps that came with the phone. However, the card doesn't show up on the phone. What gives? Other cards do show up.
Copy the files from the cards to your computer.
Format the card with your computer using Fat32 format.
Recopy the files back onto the formattted card.
Hi - I have tried to search for this so if it is available I'm sorry.
I recently bought TomTom Navigator 7 on a MSD card. Its a 4GB card. I have an 8GB MSD card onboard and want to keep this as I have folders, emails and music on this card. I have tried to do a simple copy from the TomTom card to my 8GB card so that I can run everything off one card instead of having to change over cards when I want Sat Nav. When I start the TomTom App (from the 8GB card) it states NO Maps. I know they are there as I can see them. The app comes with Western Europe Maps at 1GB. Can you help me run the app off the 8GB card. Many thanks. Paul
Just put the map folder in the root of the card or in My Documents folder.
You prolly need to reactivate the maps due to the change of SD card.
Just copy everything from the 4GB to the 8GB and run the install program.
Thank you folks - er but - what I did was to simply copy the entire contents of the Tom Tom card to my 8GB card. When I insert it back into my HD2 it does not Autorun as the 4GB TomTom card does. Also, sorry to be a plank, but how do I copy the maps to the root of the SD card.
When you look at the card with the my documents, program files etc in it, then that's where the "2GB Western Europe" or whatever folder the map is in should be, with the name of the folder showing.
Don't copy the contents of the folder out, you want the folder name to show.

Thats what I thought
Don't you need to generate a new code based on the "Hardware ID" from where the maps are sitting?

TomTom uses the device ID to identify a genuine installation, so it's nothing to do with the SD card. I know this from previously "reading" about TomTom
