Ok I pulled the trigger and ordered a Streak and it should arrive on Monday. My question is how do I transfer my contacts and calendar WITHOUT the use of a gmail account? I don't have a gmail account and everything I have read talking about transferring between WinMo and Android mentions going through Google. I need a way to DIRECTLY transfer the data.
Thanks
Sprite migrate

Do you use outlook at all? Outlook will Sync with both but you will need to install the Dell Suit to Sync with the Dell.

You need to look at the settings on the dell PC suite and see what the default is when new contacts is detected
Hi,
thanks for the response however
The problem is if I create a new contact on the phone it link directly to gmail so when I sync it doesn't see my new contact I created. If i create a new contact on outlook and then sync it works fine.
I have check the sync setting and try ticking on or off sync to gmail contact, no joy

So what's up with Outlook syncing in Android 2.2? Why is there no simple notes application on this new version of the OS? Why can't it sync with all Outlook features as it did in version 1.6?
It looks as though I will be forced to use Google docs and use something to sync that with Outlook. I use Outlook notes and tasks for work and really need them back on my phone.
I just needed to type and store a quick note on my phone and discoverd that there was no native application for that. Will there be a solution for this in Gingerbread??

no native.
i use VCOrganizer (tasks, calendars, notes contacts and categories)
(use only 1 way contact sync or u find doubled contacts on the phone)
it works also with outlook 2010 64bits
i treid many but this is the only one i found that sync also outlook notes
not free

...feel your pain. This has been my biggest challenge too coming from years of (relatively) painless Outlook to phone syncing with WinMo phones...but I am loving this more and more every day!
Basically I ended up "moving to the cloud"...using CompanionSync (worth the $$) to auto sync O2k10 to google.com (includes tasks) and EverNote to sync notes. DropBox for documents and folders. Tasks appear in the google calendar on the due date.
syncdroid.net
This problem (and a full list of potential synchronisation solutions) is well documented over at http://www.syncdroid.net/
Does anyone know is there have been any further developments towards getting all of outlooks features to sync with android??

I use enhanced email. Not sure if it supports tasks and notes, but the developer is very active on his forum for enhancements.
How can I get my Hotmail calendar to sync with my shift? I use the Exchange ActiveSync account on my phone for my work email, but as a family we use Hotmail for our calendar. Any suggestions?
Not sure. If you search Microsofts site, it appears no direct syncing is supported. A workaround would be to link the calendar to your Google account so you can at least view it on your phone. Perhaps wait til WP7 hits Sprint?
Or move the family to Google. O_O

Tried exporting Hotmail calendar, but could not. Thus I could not import into Google calendar. Wife is not a fan of Google, so not so easy
I've never used exchange, but this says hotmail started using that and it will sync calendar/contacts/email... dunno if it is true, but worth a shot.

Switch the family to google, you will be happier in the end.

Yeah, almost all Android email problems can be fixed by switching to Gmail.

Does this help? http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Calendar/thread?tid=1237b8532c40be62&hl=en
Success, thanks Stuke00
i am running cm9 beta and synced my contacts up with outlook using myphone explorer. unfortunately, it synced them in triplets and now have thousands of the same contacts. does anyone know how to delete contacts without having to do each single contact??????
Delete the sync'd account. Or do a factory data reset. Either way you'd have to re-add contacts so they aren't multiplied.

how do most people sync their outlook contacts to their android device? i have been using myphoneexplorer but is not working right with cm9 beta

Oh wow. Sorry to hear that man, sounds like you have a big mess. Check your contacts on your desktop's gmail. If it isn't in triplets, make a backup, delete outlook acc on phone, clear contacts, and let your list populate.
If it's in triplets on your gmail contacts already, simply selecting delete/merge duplicates should rid most of it, also it's easier to manage on desktop gmail contacts with the handy checkboxes. When all is tidy, backup the csv, and let your phone sync to your tidy cleaned contacts list.

If the contacts are saved to the Exchange server, and not locally, you should see them after you set up an Exchange account in Android. If your contacts are saved in Outlook locally, then only that computer stores them and they won't sync.
Since this is a corporate Exchange server, you can get your IT guy to set it up for you. It isn't difficult, and that's why he gets paid.

I haven't used them in years, but there are services that will sync your Outlook contacts with your Google address book.
Many of our clients ask us to sync their outlook and contacts with their iPad or iphone that is linked to POP email account, but all the data is in Outlook. And its been a nightmare to deal with. Can't use latest iTunes, have to use older iTunes.
With android its so much easier, simpler and it works.
I'm not bashing Apple products, I think they are good in their own way, but could be a heck of alot better.
I keep telling clients to stop using outlook and just store all the contacts and calendars in your email accounts. Yet they want all 2 or 5 pop email accounts linked to Outlook. They tell me its just easier that way to access all emails.
One of our new clients uses 4 different email providers for her home business, and all of them linked to Outlook on her PC. All contacts and calendars are stored on her pc in outlook.
After two hours of banging my head against the wall, I honestly could not sync it with her iPad and crack berry. I did get 709 contacts in to crack berry from outlook, but then client tells that contacts that were added few days ago are not there. /face palm.
Another client is having issues with yahoo email on iPhone 5, because os6.1 is...broken. Keeps throwing errors at me.
Anyways... I needed to vent, its been a long week.
I have been wondering how this works. We are able to sync our contacts and calendars to gmail and import to outlook easily. How do you do that with an apple iPhone?

Well, using a google Accout even on android it won't sync contacts. It still uses your google account (non pop) to sync contacts. At least that's how it works if I delete my google account and only add back a gmail account as a pop email account.
At work we use contacts sync pro and calendar sync both of which I think have been discontinued by google.
We can add contacts in outlook and we sync it to gmail and it shows up in our phone contacts using a yahoo pop bizmail account. Its really nice and easy. I was wondering if this was even possible on apple without using an exchange.

Well, my work uses an exchange server for my iPhone email, so I have my outlook and iPhone sync'd using that. Then I use gSyncIT from Fieldston to sync my outlook to Google so then my Android tablet and personal PC's keep their contacts and calendars in sync.
My wife on the other hand does not have the ability to sync her iPhone to her exchange server, so her outlook is exchange and then uses gSyncIT to sync her outlook to Google. Then added the Google Exchange server on her iPad an iPhone to keep it all in sync.
