Can anyone tell me how to change the Sent Mail folder used for IMAP accounts on the Desire HD???
It seems to put it in the "Sent" folder, but all my other computers and programs use the "Sent Items" folder.
How can I change the DHD?
Thanks
Matt

Hi everyone, I've looked EVERYWHERE and I can't find anything about this. Its kind of difficult to describe but someone on here has to know what I'm talking about.
I recently bought an IMAP email hosting account. They do this weird thing where the "Sent", "Trash" and "Drafts" folders are all subfolders of the Inbox, rather than separate and along side them. In the phone, the folders come up as "Inbox.Sent", "Inbox.Trash", "Inbox.Drafts".
Whenever I write an e-mail on my 8525, I would like it to save a copy of the sent e-mail. There is of course the option to "Save sent messages to 'Sent Items' folder" but since that folder does not exist, it just does not save anything.
Is there ANY way to make it so it saves the sent e-mails to "Inbox.Sent"? Like a registry edit? Any and all help greatly appreciated. I will buy you a beer or something. Thanks!
I am wondering the same thing myself, actually. Have you figured out a solution, or does anyone else know of one?
Okay, for me, I had to change my "Sent" folder on my server to "Sent Items". Once I did that it began working properly. I just reassigned my sent folder using Mail (on a Mac).
Unfortunately Outlook cannot be assigned to 'non-root' Sent Folders. At this point I see 3 options.
1) Contact your service provider and ask them to give you an IMAP account wth the Sent Folder in the ROOT and not under Inbox. I have noticed this kind of hierarchy only with Linux operated Mail Server space. Check if they will be willing to switch you over to a Windows Mail Server which has the Sent Items folder under the ROOT.
2) Manually copy all the email from your PPC Sent Items folder to 'Inbox.Sent' folder on the server.
3) Use Flexmail 2007. It's an excellent email program and offers several advanced mailing features. It even allows you to designate any folder on the server as a Sent Items folder. This way you wil have a copy of all your sent email as well.
Or if you run your own mail server you can symlink to your Sent folder.
ln -s .Sent .Sent\ Items
I've had my X1a for a few months now and is synced with my work's Microsoft Outlook Exchange server. I can send and receive e-mails fine and everything seems to work except after I send an e-mail from my phone, the message doesn't go to the Sent Items folder.
However, in my MS Outlook program on my laptop which I use for syncing (with WMDC) and is also set up with my e-mails through the Exchange server, I can see my sent e-mails in the Sent Items folder even when I send e-mails from my X1a. So I know there is nothing wrong with the Exchange server and it is a problem with the phone.
On my X1a, when I go into my Outlook E-mail options, I have the "Keep copies of sent items in Sent folder" checkmarked but nothing shows up in the Sent Items folder after I send an e-mail.
Any one know a solution to this?
you need to set up your sync folder settings. by default wm will only sync your inbox and none of your other folders. iirc it should be under tools -> folders and check the sent items folder to be sync'd as well. i don't have the phone in front of me right now, so this is from memory. play around with the settings and you'll see it.
Yes that's the way...
Inbox > Menu (right soft key) Tools > Manage folders> Check sent items.
Then just sync again.
omg you guys made my day! thank you!!!!!
i can't believe it was something so simple..
mods, please close
So I've been having a few issue with gmail and it not syncing with the sent mail folder. There's been a few posts on here, but I thought I'd start a new one for a 'new' solution for those that may still be having issues. I solved it mostly through help from wacky.banana (many thanks) and a bit of good fortune.
Anyway I was following advice on here that once I'd set up my googlemail account on my HD2 only inbox was synced as default, so you need to go into menu from the inbox folder>tools>manage folders and tick the box for sent mail. What I've just noticed is that when you click manage folders and it takes you to the screen with the different folders with the check boxes, it says "sent items" rather than "sent mail". I've been ticking this assuming it was my "sent mail" folder, and so only been getting mail sent using the HD2, and not been able to access older sent mail, nor does it sync with sent mail from my PC.
What I accidently found this morning was that in the manage folders page, if you expand google mail by pressing the box with + in it you will now get a folder saying "sent mail". Tick this box and everything works ok. To some of you on here this might seem totally obvious, but to those of us new to winmo it's not, and I though some of you might have been doing the same as me
My only gripe with it now is that when you go to the sent mail folder you can't catagorise it by recipient, so everthing comes up with my name/email address. Does anyone know if there's some way you can get it to sort via recipient name?
Think I did a good job of the query in the title there.
My mail yahoo mail account saves my sent emails in a "Sent" folder while the Winmo email client is saving them to my yahoo mail server in a "Sent Items" folder. So I have to look in 2 places to find my sent emails. I want them all to go into the "Sent Items" folder.
Is there a way to alter where the sent emails are saved to on the mail server?
Not crucial but would be nice to know and my search didn't throw up any results.
Hi everyone,
Just found out that my new web/email host uses subfolders within inbox to maintain all my folders (so, INBOX.Sent) but my mytouch 4G only syncs sent emails with the "Sent" folder. So my phone's sent mail and my computer's sent mail will never be in sync.
Does anyone know what the heck I can do about this? If I can't have the email I send on every device sync, this email host becomes useless.
