Just to comment on your question, the JI6 update could very well be needed for a clear and stable path to a froyo upgrade.

This is just another troll. The JI6 update will be rolled to everyone throughout October. There is no way Froyo is coming until everyone gets JI6, so at least not until November, chances are probably even later.
I second the ban. As people get banned for Froyo trolling, we will see less and less. (Hopefully.)

TBH, this actually would make sense. Hopefully J16 is just a gateway and we'll see Froyo by months end or Even Nov. Wasn't Nov the "speculated" date from the UK site?

IF the OP, is legit, he's probably just got his updates confused. Maybe he heard he heard about the update that's bring sent and assumed froyo.
Otherwise he's like the guy who posted he knew there was no gps update coming until nov, lol.

I actually hopethis is true...but a lass I have yet to recieve the gps fix update yet.

Fascinate getting Ice Cream

I was just abducted by aliens last night, and one of them told me that they had just dropped off a Verizon rep that they had abducted the night before, and that just prior to his anal probing, the Verizon rep revealed that, according to his Samsung contact, Samsung has decided to skip not only Froyo and Gingerbread, but Honeycomb too and go straight to Android 4.0 Ice Cream.
The Samsung rep couldn't give an exact date for the OTA release, but according to the aliens, they've been ahead in time beyond January 10th, and none of their phones were updated, but they couldn't rule out that the update might have failed because they hadn't restored all the bloat before their time-warp to Jan 10th.
And, by the way, no, I wasn't anally probed.

My Verizon store story.

I thought I would share this with you all. It's kinda lulzfull that people know who we are.
I am currently with T-Mobile, but am more than likely going to switch to Verizon when they become AT&T-Mobile late on this year as I hate everything that is ATT and refuse to give them my money. So anyways here's the story. Note that I am ME and the Verizon guy is VZW, and that it's kinda emelished for the lolz, but this conversation did genuinely happen.
Me-Oh hai, I'ma lookin at switching from T-Mobile to you guys and would like to ask about a Thunderbolt and see what kind of packages you all offer.

Great story! This XDA community (and related AC, etc.) is certainly a subculture to itself...

It's funny about that Froyo stuff given that it was really just two days away. I'd wait for Droid Charge if anything. The T-bolt sucks battery on 4G and apparently it's a hardware issue with the chips inside it not playing nice with each other.

evo 4g now ships with 2.3 thats what the sprint lady just said on sprint.com. she said the update will come to our phones in about 1 week! or u can go to the htc website and download it. but i checked the htc website theres an ad that says theres a new update for the evo!!! but theres no download link which sucks. the sprint website says 2.3 so it shouldnt be long

Honestly I'm not sure how you can post in four different locations that the Evo 4G now has Android 2.3 and have it just be a mistake? Anyone else think thats a little excessive for an accident?

A lot of people are gonna be pissed when they open the box and the phone is running froyo.

Samsung is working on Gingerbread update for T959

I called Samsung today at (800) 726-7864. According to Samsung customer service representative they are working on Gingerbread update for T-mobile Vibrant T959. I asked her if this is what she thinks or is this info 100% confirmed and she said it is confirmed and there will be an update but currently there is no ETA on it.
Does this mean there is still hope for the update?

Did you ask her about the battery life?

My brothers girlfriends uncles fairy godmother works at the coffee shop across the street from the post office down the road from liquor store up the alley from Tmobile and she heard Gingerbread tastes yummy.

so i just for hoots and hollers i called the number that
gun posted
and asked them if there was a gingerbread update being tested
for the tmobile vibrant t959
and was told yes there is an update being tested but there is no
eta when it will be released
so i again asked is it a gingerbread update and was told
again there is an update being tested
i was like thats only part of what i asked
i know theres an update being tested and you have confirmed it
but i would like to know is it a gingerbread update
and was told we cannot confirm wether its a gingerbread or newer
os update ....but yes an update is being tested but no eta
on a release date ....
so all i got out of it was a 50/50 chance of it being a GB update
.......
now before yall start whinning about we need pics or more
evidence about it ..heres a solution for ya
try calling the number gun posted and ask about it yourselfs
and wow it took a whole 5 minutes out of my busy day to call and ask them
