is there a good combination that boots android everytime and doesnt die at any point?
using wonmo rom 1.66.405.2
radio 2.11.50.20
and froyostone 3.2
unfortunatly android only boots about 1 time out of 10, why tho?
sometimes boot, sometimes blue screen, sometimes black screen with green htc sometimes resets?
anyone else having this problem but once it boots it works great apart from sometimes dying sod or freeze when i plug in the charger.
i'm using
windows rom: 1.66.404.1
radio: 2.12.50.02_2
my androids boots always.. but there are a few connection drops but it's ok
Mine using Omega WWE v16?? forgotten, radio 2.15.50.xxxx, and Madeejay eVo v1.7, always work except sometimes crash com.android.phone while the system still runs. Just download v2.2 yesterday and while waiting the startup, found v2.3 is out!
Anywa, the v2.2 starts andnow going to check it up.
Check my sig. This combo has NEVER failed on me...

cheers i'll try that. didnt really wanna start changing my windows rom as well but looks like im gonna have to give it a go as i've tried just about all the radios and numerous android bulids takes about 10 attempts to start up. then if it freezes gotta go through it all again
heard the chunky rom works well with it?
is there any onther settings in windows or android that that need to be on or off for it to work better?
Check my sig - this is a very stable build, I have no issues other than occasionally flaky mobile data connection!
I have found that a fuller WinMo ROM works better for android - I had trouble with some of the "stripped out for Android" ROMs available. Artemis is a high performance ROM with all features, if anyone knows of a more bleading edge ROM I would like to know!
Been using my combo since the beginning. OzDroid has been nothin but excellent. Hyperdroid is, in my opinion, the best build out there.
No problems whatsoever.
Data is strong. Bluetooth is working. This is my everyday setup. Only time I see WinMo is when I update files or whatnot.

On the energy rom and does seem better but still not get a boot everytime. ive tried mdeejay hd and i like it but still not booting up everytime and had a few sod when charging.
hyperdroid has seemed to be the most consistent for me but is there a desire sense version or theme for it or something?
check my sig, so far so good
my setup works flawlessly.
my first try tho i thought it locked up on initial setup, so i pulled the batt. when i rebooted i ran logcat to see what whas happening, turns out i pulled batt while it was setting audio , i wiped my sdcard and started over.
this time i waited a few min for it to set up the kernel etc, once that was done i conected thru adb and watched the logcat for errors etc. once it calmed down ( about 20 min) then i proceded to log in, set up my google account. once that calmed down i rebooted, loged into the market and lodded my apps etc.... all good.
VBN reloaded 2 minimal winmo.
MDEEJAY rEVOlution 2.0
Radio 2.0.12

Battery lasts whole day normal use (5 phone calls, 30 sms, auto email sync on 4 accts. - about 150 emails..30 mins internet) . No freeze, no SOD. Kow

Exactly how do you find out what version of ROM, Radio etc. are on your phone?
still suffering some SOD what tips are there to minmise this? like i head taking off auto lock or something in windows helps? and some other screen settings?
another side note, if it fails to load intermitently, im going to bet that the data on the sdcard is corupt. copy the files off it, format it, then copy back on.
if that does not work, format it wiping every thing and start from scratch.
Best combo
I think if you use the latest tmobile us build 3 14 501 with radio 2 15 50 04, these are my results for two days
the froyo builds with nexus kernel fail miserably, lot of things go haywire or work slowly, wifi slow ,camera flash gets stuck, sods with brightness, apps work slowly, consume battery more
but with the above wm 6 rom with the same radio htc sense builds like
mdeejay rock and they are fast as lightning, everything works smooth
with the above wm6rom build and radio ,on both build types(froyo and evo) there is no robo voice
this i tried even after i flashed the new stock rom it didnot disable my hspl 3 which i had installed earlier.htc sense build worked with it fine.
However i was slightly scared about the new t mobile rom with regard to nexus kernels and i reverted back to energy leo oct 25 build with radio 2 10 50 26 which is awesome.i reinstalled mdeejay evo stock rom which is awesome fast and blazing with some minimal echo still, it works better with the energy rom and radio 2 10 50 26 this is my daily android phone build i use.
My current build test
Currently as i stated above my build is mdeejay evo stock 1.1 with r8 hastarin kernel , energy rom oct 25 and radio 2 10 50 26
for all users i recommend using us hd2 rom builds as there is something different between the two hd2 makes us and non us
as i flashed a non us build 3 14 core wm 6 rom and it did bad things to my android froyo hd 3, mdeejay buildss, so i reverted back to energy roms and now with radio 2 10 50 26 its my daily build with excellent working status (battery at the end of day with no wifi or data is 85%)
i have another micro sd card it has miui build from mcm joon mccm se 3 with hastrarin r 8 kernel which is working awesome with my build but the battery consumption is too much about 4%/hr, i dont know why the nexus based builds consume so much battery. I will work on it this weekend
my defaut micro sd card is 16 gb i got with hd2 it has the mdeejay build ,miui build is on the kingston 8 gb class 4 card.
Micro sd card
I dont know the conclusion of this test results i have
my wm6 rom is energy rom and radio 2 10 50 26, micro sd card is default 16 gb sandisk class 2 card
froyostone v 3.2 was slow on it, while the mdeejay evo stock version 1.1 is blazing fast ,there is something mdeejay does with the animations sometimes they annoy you but are so blazing fast with minimal battery consumption.
This weekend i am getting my class6 16 gb sandisk card and i am going to try all the builds on it along with various radios and wm6 roms. Will post the result as soon as possible.
My question is there is something called swap( disk space) used in linux distros where they use it as a part of their ram space so they keep all the applications in it for faster work . Is there any way we can use it in android so that the apps run faster with minimal battery consumption.
For all us hd 2 users please use radio with 50 in it.
My simulation of froyostone build
I simulated what darkstone did to his hd2 with the same wm6 rom and the same radio and the same android build , but the only difference was my us hd 2 , it failed miserably with wifi slow, flash got stuck and apps were damn slow and sods, ultimately it became unusable and i had to switch to mdeejay build . Thats why i always feel there is something diffrerent in both hd2 models as well as there is some difference in the wm6 rom builds for each of them.
I am still waiting for darkstones new build with sense as it will be always with better stability.

Was facing the SOD once a day till installed WM ChuckyDroidROM (this is IMPORTANT) + 2.12.50 Radio + android ROM of your choice (IMHO mdeejay does it properly
I forgot about these black screens completely
Installing Android = Pain in the A**
for more than a month trying to install android flashing, hard reseting, restoring
i am really tired i even forgot why i wanna use android any way.
my current software information is:
OS version 5.2.21869 (21869.5.0.82)
manila version 2.5.19211619.0
rom version 1.66.415.9 (76641) WWE
radio version 2.15.50.14
protocol version 15.42.50.11U
HSPL 3
can any body tell me which of the above needs changing and which android version should i use?
my current android version is froyostone and mp3 not working and incoming and outgoing calls robot sound i cant hear any thing
thanks

Hi, everyone...The reason why I create this thread is because this could help most HTC HD2 users solve their problems...Although we are not developers, but at least we as a user can try various combinations of WM rom,Zimage,Android Build, setting, rootfs files...and etc...and get the best combination...It is unlikely for every user to try every build at the moment...so I hope that you all can share your experiences here, and maybe give developers come out with some new ideas....by porting between various builds...Thank you so much...
Currently,i'm using Telstra ver 1.42 stock rom+3/8 cotulla Zimage+michyprima rootfs for dans froyo without sense V1...radio is 2.10.50...8(KRN)...now i'm using android everyday and just open the WM to do some little things like transfer songs and file...now almost everything is working on the build i using...As everybody knew that Camcorder(via third parties or CM6RC2 android build),bluetooth known issues(like files sharing)....furthemore,in my case USB files transfer is inconsistent(sometimes i can find the files that transferred to my phone directly, sometimes I need to boot back WM to see the files),this an weird issue...
So, hope everyone enjoy the android experiences...No developer like(netripper,dcordes,dans,cotulla,etc....)there is no android....
Cheers...Great work guys...We appreaciate your hardwork...
I'm currently using Energy MaxSense and mattcfroyorc1.3a with Radio 2.12.50.02. Been working great for about 3 days now. I found that this combo fixed the robotic voice problem on calls. I've also been able to talk and surf at the same time... I don't know if that was planned or not, but I love it!!! Thanks to all developers.
I'm using matcc + froyo rc1.3a with ChuckyDroid Rom (default radio) and everything works great (asidefrom the known issues)
THE ONLY THING is bothering me is the constant FREEZING is starting to piss me off! Maybe because I am using a class 4 SD
Using Darkstone Desire v5.7 - 25 zimage plus the 1gb image.dat - i use it because i get the best 3g performance right now with it... i tested all others - pretty fast but it seems to lag when it comes to data transfers - on some i just can.t get it to work (there is always wifi, but i am used with 3g). Also, on the froyo builds i have noticed some apps not installing (downloading but not installing). I support all the developers in here, this is just a personal like.
Oh ! i forgot! i.m on energy rom right now
WM ROM: Energy's July 24th Dinik/Glass theme
Radio: 2.12...etc...
Android: MattC Froyo RC1.3a
zImage: 8/3.
This is by far the fastest build I've come across yet, but the phone slows down to an absolute CRAWL when installing apps from the market. Hasn't frozen completely on me but definitely becomes unusable for 20 seconds or so. Other than that I love it. The GPS works great, the data is fast (I never use WiFi) and it's been very stable so far with no crashes in 2+ days.
Browser is very slow to use.
WM ROM: Miri's v1.6
Radio: 2.08...etc...
Android: MattC Froyo RC1.3a
zImage: 8/3.
I have been running this build for almost 4 days now. Very impressive, responsive and overall fun to use. Some of the issues I've noticed include: -
1. Phone grinds to a halt when installing app's (downloading is fine) and resumes again after 10 - 15 seconds later.
2. The browser is extremely slow to use . Some websites will not load completely even after leaving phone for a few minutes. Navigating websites is very slow (i.e. scrolling with finger), can be even worse if flash content available. Pinch and zoom also very choppy on websites.
3. Google maps, when trying to pinch and zoom, when bringing fingers together i.e. zoom-out the map zooms in, and vice versa when trying to zoom-in the map zooms out.
Can someone please explain why the browser can be so slow?
Other than that i'm practically using this android build as my main OS.
Rom: cleanEx Dse 3.5
Radio: 2.11.50.20
Android: froyo 1.3a
I for one am very impressed with the latest development builds of android, there nearly quite there in terms of stability, there are some freezes though when the phone goes into sleep and you try to wake it up. also web browsing is very slow but i wouldn't expect it to be fast knowing it is a beta, but most of the interface is silky smooth, another thing the 3d test app crash sometime trying to access 3d hardware, also when you go back to wm the time has zipped forward. as soon as this os is ready to integrate fully into the HD2 im going to use android builxs permently because wm simply is so outdated and has never been friendly to use. please please get contacts to work and sms import from wm.
Hi,everyone, thank you for the reply you all have posted....great job and great sources of information...Besides,I'm happy and like the way you all listed down the rom, radio,Zimage, version of android build & etc.....it is great...hope more people will share their experiences here as well...
Desire builds are by far the best
ROM: stock 1.66
radio: 2.10.......
Android build: darkstone desire build V5
all in all i found that this is the fastest most stable build, i use launcher pro not HTC sense.
i've tried the dan and darkstone froyo builds but they weren't as stable as the desire builds (especially V5) with lots of freezes and occasional green screens and sleeps of death. still haven't tried the matt builds i gotta admit.
Desire V5:
-calls work both in and out
-sound works great
-smooth scrolling in menus
-browser works smooth with flash
-no freezes, BSODs or GSODs
-no sleeps of death
-wifi & 3G work fine
-market works great
-can install apps from the market or SD card
-G-sensor works great
-apps and games are smooth and fast
issues:
-bad power management which leads to excessive power consumption (therefore leading to short battery life and temperature rising when using the phone)
-mounting SD card
-camera limited to 3MP and camcorder not working
-speed still needs improvements (when using live wallpapers the device becomes laggy, still usable though. photo album in sense is laggy. etc....)
-low ringing volume
i know that many of these issues are problems with all android builds and not just the build i use, but i'm listing all the issues that separate these builds from being our main OS for everyday use on our beloved HD2
Im using shubcraft rc1 v1.1 with the latest zimage....chuckdroid rom and radio 2.10.50.26...everything works great only problem is it lags a little bit here and there...

WM Rom: Miri's 17.5
Android Rom: Desire Build V5 (Eclaire)
1gig data.img
3/8/10 zImage
Been using the Launcher Pro "theme?" since I dislike the Desire Sense homescreen bar/softkey. I've tried other Froyo roms but it wasn't quite the same -- default white bar at the top/CM6's dock bar icon thing (though I did like the default Android lockscreen better).
Haven't had too many problems with the v5 rom, mainly just the battery running out much faster than WM.
Volume seems fine, market place works though I used to get slowdowns and even freezing before I increased the data.img size. Now its probably just occasional slowdowns, I think.
Wifi works as excepted, so does text messaging.
I've been using Cloudy's launcher to boot Android though I'm probably going to have to use another loader since I'd really like to get all the Eclaire files inside a folder instead of having them lying about in the root of my sdcard (but I'm not sure if other bootloaders will solve this problem).
i've tried all flavour android roms available now and various combo's of zImage's
currently using zego version (found on robsbay.co.uk) with cortula's latest zImage.
Stock ROM and 2.10 radio (i think)
The phone is totally usable, have been using it as an android phone in it's various guises for over a week now. Battery life is the real killer, once this is sorted I'll be happier with it.
Seem to struggle using the browser over 3G though, very hit and miss if i can get on any website at all, any ideas what this would be? (T-Mob UK)
I'm using shubcraft cm6rc2.. its working great for me.. my only wish would be for a sense build which is working to be useable for me. So far I've tried darkstone, which works well as well and mattleo with sense..
However, mattleo made my phone run hot and drained my battery too fast and was laggy every now and then, which is kinda of sad because I liked what I was using, especially sense when the rom isn't lagging..
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
I've tried shubCRAFT, Energy, dan1j3, xTarantula, Darkstone and mattc. And by far, the mattc and Darkstone builds have been supreme for me. They are smooth and bugless. The mattc is the best of the best, though. I find it to be representative of an actual ROM and believe any battery life issue would resolve itself if it were running in NAND, as and actual flashed ROM, rather than the power hungry card reader.
The latest mattc 1.4 build presents a major speed improvement, especially at the Market, but is speedy everywhere, and buttery smooth. What amazes me is I'm using a Class 2 card....don't yet have a Class 6...lol...and I went yesterday to a local Verizon and checked out the Incredible and Droid X. The 1.3 mattc build was faster and smoother than the Incredible but a bit slower than the Droid X. Now, however, with this 1.4 build, it is neck and neck with the Droid X for speed and smoothness.
The shubCRAFT build, the screen won't light back up after a standby. The xTarantula loops during boot-up and can't make it boot no matter what. The dan1j3 build is also an excellent build and was actually faster and smoother running than the 1.2 mattc build, but it wasn't rooted and I couldn't use setCPU or screenshot apps. Now, however, the mattc build (1.4) is at the tip top of all of them
The Darkstone build is the next best, for me. It is buttery smooth and generally bugless. Once in a while I will get a greenscreen at boot. I love the style and implementation of Launcher Pro in the Darkstone build. Mainly because of the scrolling dock buttons. If the Darkstone build had functioning Bluetooth and GPS, I would be hard pressed to decide which of the two builds, the mattc and Darkstone, I would permanently install if they came to flashable ROMs.
The Energy build was good, but it was too sensitive. Tapping the dots at the dock buttons most of the time brought up the button replacement function rather than the preview screen. I had to tap the dots incredibly fast to bring the preview screen up. This is how the touchscreen function was throughout the build.
My ranking of these builds - "1" being best:
1 -mattc Froyo 1.4
2 -Darkstone Froyo 1.0
3 -dan1j3 Leo Froyo
4 -Energy Desire
Anroid builds
Tried the same, always back to WM, best for Leo until now
im running the latest Dutty ROM that is now the creme one, running great with android, managed a full day battery on android with casual use, not yet tested if there is no echoing with the latest zimage, the freezing can become a pain, had a few times where its froze while typing a text message and ive hit the back key and its deleted the whole message, i think this will be fixed when cotulla updates his kernel to use the extra ram in the HD2 as its only using 252MB atm which is eaten pretty quick when running sense.
mattc Froyo 1.4...
I've been running the mattc Froyo 1.4 and so far, so good. There are obviously still a few bugs running around, but so far nothing serious. The android market has been working well, WiFi worked better than in winmo (in terms of handling certificates), e-mail is working great, and so on... Sometimes the lock screen hangs, and once the screen went very dim but fixed itself after a reload... Have yet to mess around with GPS. Running off the stock SD card that comes with the phone. Complete specs in sig.
EDIT:
OK, so maybe I spoke a little too soon. Some other issues have cropped up, such as random reboots of my phone. Calling has started having a "buzzing" sound to it, and doesn't sound right. I think there is a fix for that, but I've yet to track it down.

Radio: Stock
WM Rom: Miri's 17.5
Android Rom: Darkstone's FroyoV1

Everything is working great with the new zImage. Call quality has improved as well. Only thing really lacking is the Camcorder, which is not really an issue to me.
I find this build to be the quickest and most stable build right now.
WM ROM: Energy
Radio: 2.12.50.02
Android ROM: shubCraft 1.1
the best combination for me... shubcraft runs extremely fast (ok, not as fast as on my desire before but ...),
even when installing software. i used mattc with chuckydroid before and it wasn't that fast, maybe because of sense.
i also hat many errors with it, for example setcpu didn't autostart and that really s****!
and i also wanted to use winmo, but with chukydroid it is far away from usable
No errors until now, when running setcpu and batterytime i have ~130mb free ram, thats pretty good, with mattc there were only ~90mb!
edit: navigon is also running good, not perfect, but good

WM ROM: 21911 Energy ROM (Aug. 1 Cookie Themed)

This was my first try at Android on my HD2. It is very smooth, and fast. Marketplace is pretty quick. No problems installing app updates. Most apps install fine. (Pandora, Slacker, Shazam) All working properly.
Calls are good (although can be noisy/static sometimes). I receive and send texts fine.
Wi-Fi works
Playing Videos and music from SD card works fine. Viewing pictures also works fine.
ISSUES:
Slight lag, (especially when scrolling in the app list)
Green screen of death several times
Battery life gets me to the afternoon (barely)
Get Sleep of Death often
Volume is kinda low
Taking pictures with flash is nearly unusable. Feels like too much flash. Picture comes out too bright / white washed
Onscreen keyboard has slight lag with key taps
Flashlight app doesn't work (tried a few)
I hope this doesn't make it seem like I'm complaining cause I'm not. I absolutely love that I have the opportunity to use Android now and am using Android about 70% of the time right now.
Hey guys!
Over the past few days, I've been reading a TON of material here and over in the HD2 Android forums. I have somewhat successfully installed Android on my device, but I'm having some nagging issues that I was hoping someone here might be able to advise me on.
Here's what I've got:
HTC HD2 T-Mobile US 1024ROM
Windows Mobile: VBNROM Reloaded 2 WWE 3.14 Core
Android: Either MattcFroyo 2.1 or FroyoStone Sense v3.2 w/ Chiasoft's MMS Patch
Kernel: hastarin r7.6
Radio: 2.15.50.14
HSPL: 2.08
With these specs, I always get the poor battery performance. Typically 50-60mA standby.
There's a "fix" where if I press one of the buttons on the bottom when haret.exe is loading, it actually remedies this, and I get 8mA on standby. However, this creates a new problem: sleep of death. Once the phone goes into standby, it won't come out. I've gotta reboot and go back to the 50-60mA battery performance.
I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place here.
Can anyone help?
So about 1-2 months ago, I switched to Android on my HD2, but this wasn't a very good rom. Whenever I turned the screen off, it would only light up black (wtf). It stated the battery was empty all the time. And when I had to restart my phone, and tried booting into android again, it would either freeze on the bootscreen, or it would be the darkest screen ever. Sometimes both.
So I ask; What is the most stable setup to date, for HD2?
I would also like to know which is the most stable Android build to-date (i am not bothered with the HTC Sense layar).
I agree ^^
Right now I'm using mdeejays evo sense 2.3 revolution and upgraded the kernel with Hastarin R8 and it is very stable!!
Its gonna depend on many factors such as what WM rom you're running and what radio as well. I would recommend you get chuckdroid WM rom, a good recent radio, and either evo sense 2.3 or Bangsters 1.5 (if you dont want sense) Ive had good results with both.
Latest Energy WinMo ROM, 2.12 radio, the Android build linked below.
Works fantastic, all day, every day. CM6 mod. MDPI/HDPI hybrid too

I like my setup (in my sig). There's a new skinnyEVO v1.5, and since I haven't tried it, I can't speak of its stability.
The issue you'll encounter in most Android builds is data dropping, which is caused by using PPP (not RMNET) connection. This can be 'fixed' by turning on/off airplane mode.
+1 for Mdeejay builds
just loaded Mdeejay eVo Sense v. 1.1 Matted this morning, so far v smooth, battery 5mA in standby, camera with flash working, no probs so far.
deff' the best of the 3 android builds ive tried
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=797357
For the one who said that it depends on many factors, here is my current specifications;
OS-Version
5.2.21869 (21869.5.0.82)
Manila-Version
2.5.19211619.0
ROM-Version
1.66.409.1 (76641) NOR
ROM-Date
01/12/10
Radioversion
2.12.50.02_2
Protokollversion:
15.40.50.07U
What kind of setup would be best for my specs?

I'm on O2 in the UK. Using the latest Sense version of the PhireMOD Skinny EVO (v1.5) with 2.15 radio and the latest Chucky ROM 23139 ~ 3.14. Rock solid stability and very smooth and fast. I get an occasional data drop but that's the same with every PPP build. Battery life with light usage is approx 2 days.
Just upgraded to V8 kernal and it's smoother than ever. Best andriod build i've used - apart from the data drops (which is not the fault of the build) it's pretty much perfect for me. The key is to get the right combination of radio/wmrom/andriod. Unfortunately it seems to be different for different people so just a case of trial and error until you find the right combo. In my case the switch to 2.15 radio solved a lot of issues.
energy and skinnyEVO v1.5 with latest kernell update is the best setup you can get.... after a long search i foud this one to be the best..... oh radio 2.12.50.xxxx great battery life..... >
energy rom and mdeej's Revolution is by far the best sense build to date and there is a new radio for those of you that dont know yet 2.15
There is no guaranteed catch all perfect setup. what may run perfectly fine for me may run absolutely horrible for you. Different strokes for different folks.
Factors you have to consider:
SD Card (class, size, whether is SDHC or not, how it is formatted, cluster size)
Battery calibration (does your battery last a long time in WinMo?)
Your own knowledge (if you cannot be bothered to search for any simple problems then you WILL get frustrated trying to run Android)
the best way you can find out the best setup for you is trial and error.

Sorry for the noob question, but can somebody describe data dropping to me?
I got a HD2 from work on the weekend, so the first thing I did was install android
I installed: Radio_2_14_50_04, and FroyoStone_Sense_V3.2. This combo is working fine and seems stable.
The problem I had yesterday was that I could not access the internet although I had a strong 3g or H signal. The problem would suddenly disappear and access would be fine for a few minutes and then no access again. Access seems more consistant today.
Battery life seems a problem too, it was fully charged at 7am this morning and was down to 5% by 5pm, that was with mild usage apart from about an hour mp3 and 30 min gps.
Any of this sound normal for android on a HD2?

So about 1-2 months ago, I switched to Android on my HD2, but this wasn't a very good rom. Whenever I turned the screen off, it would only light up black (wtf). It stated the battery was empty all the time. And when I had to restart my phone, and tried booting into android again, it would either freeze on the bootscreen, or it would be the darkest screen ever. Sometimes both.
So I ask; What is the most stable setup to date, for HD2?

is the one you really like, the one that appeals to your needs and whims the most
so try them builds around and share your ideas and experience with each of them

there is a VERY BIG discussion on a lot of threads about data drops, search for them. that is one nagging PITA at the moment for Android. switching airplane
mode on and off always worked for me though, also need to have the correct
APN setting for your network

reboot Android at least three times and the battery usage will improve drastically
my juice lasts a full day of moderate to heavy usage.

Thanks for the info...the airplane mode trick worked a treat
When you say reboot android 3 times, do you mean reset the whole device, or is there a way to shut down and restart the android os?
Cheers
Tony
I use:
VBN reloaded 2 minimal ROM
mdeejay revolution 2.0
radio 2.12.50.
One time deals:
i) turn off auto backlight in winmo
ii) do a g-sensor calib in winmo
Make sure you :
i) Load android using EBL *as soon as you possibly can*
ii) press the back button when its loading HaRET
and you are all set !!!

If you're like me, a subpar or incomplete Android 2.2 on HD2 experience was NOT an option. I've been through pretty much every combination, followed everyone's advice and always ended up unhappy for one of several reasons :
1. The ROM I installed was missing features, like the camera or other features that crashed.
2. The dreaded "Sleep of Death"
Not to say anything against any of the ROM chefs, because these guys are hard-working geniuses and they do this for free... for us...
But having said that, I had to keep trying. I'm obsessive compulsive when it comes to my gadgets and once I had a taste of Android on the HD2, I knew I wouldn't be happy until I found that elusive combination that made it work the way I wanted it to.
If you're having trouble making Android work on your HD2, listen up... Because now mine works like a charm and here's how it happened...
1. You absolutely HAVE to get rid of the stock Windows Mobile 6.5 that comes on your HD2. I never found a way around that. Until I flashed a custom ROM, it never worked 100%. To do this you need to flash HSPL to your HD2. This allows the installation of custom ROMs.
2. You have to strip Windows Mobile down to next to nothing. If you plan on using Android 2.2 as your daily operating system, you don't need it anyway. I tried lots of versions, but face it - you won't need WinMo anymore once you get Android working 100%. For this, use Chuckydroid, hands down. It is stripped down to next to nothing - no Sense 2.5, nothing fancy in Windows Mobile. BARE. BONES. Chuckydroid can also be set up to autoboot into Android!
3. After installing Chuckydroid, I also flashed Radio 2.15 just to have the latest radio. I've heard people talk against it, but again - I'm working 100%, so I'm happy.
4. For my Android ROM, I chose Mdj revolution 1.5, and updated to the S1 Linux kernel. It was one of few builds that had all features working as they should. The S1 kernel patches a lot of issues that might arise with the MDJ build.
5. Lastly, I noticed I didn't have 3G signal after all this and discovered that at some point my APN information (which tells the phone how to connect to data services) had been wiped out. I am a TMoUSA customer, so I found the information for the USA servers and added it manually to the phone. (System/Wireless & Networks/Mobile Networks/Access Point Names)
I know this isn't every piece of information you need, but if you read each point and investigate on your own, you'll find there's a wealth of information out there to guide you through each step, but to clarify :
1. Flash HSPL (I used HSPL 3, but follow the directions when you find it)
2. Install Chuckydroid (No other custom ROM worked and I tried them all)
3. Flash Radio 2.15
4. MDJ Revolution 1.5 w/ S1 kernel (Most stable and complete I could find)
5. Manually configure APN
Again I'll close with the fact that I have a fully-working Android 2.2 HD2 device. All features, all functions, no errors, no robot voice, no SOD, no gremlins... It just works. Good luck! If you have any additions to this plan, let me know! I'd like to know that I was using the newest 100% WORKING(!!!) Android built with all the best features.
I'd also like to add that, given my luck, now that it's taken me over a week to get Android 2.2 working flawlessly on my HD2, in the next day or so we'll see one of four things :
1. A flashable Android 2.2 ROM that completely replaces WinMo as the Operating system
2. A flashable Android 2.3 (3.0) Gingerbread ROM
3. A flashable Windows Phone 7 ROM

funny
before 1,2,3,4 you can also try:
0. replace kernel with s2 also made by mdeejay. they say it's very good
thinking better i don't belive this thread belong to this section

Well I tried a lot of these "quick shortcuts" to make things work and nothing did. Believe me, I've been down every road to make this happen...
and yeah I guess I put this in the wrong section now that I look at it. Sorry!
Yep, this thread have to be moved into the Android General Discussions section.
Just let me know if you have a constantly data transfer on on your "working-like-charm" Leo and I'll immediately flash ChuckyROM (which version?), 'cause I've tried EVERYTHING, my battery lasts 3,5/4 hours running Android and I have to recharge it twice everyday...

try this combo:
- wm - energy nov 8 21684 cht 1.8.5
- radio - 2.15
- android - mdeejay revolution 1.5
- kernel - mdeejay s2
i have only 6% battery drop over 9 hours of standby, all data transfers closed and gsm only, not 3g
all things i tested works flawless
i think you missed the most important thing...
--> hard format your SD card before trying
Camillo
Format or not the SD makes non differences, I have huge battery drain in every situation.
I've had several issues running mdeejay builds, so I prefer FroyoStone 3.2 by Darkstone. I've never tried Chucky ROMs before, so I'd like to flash the brand new one
@camillo
no i didn't forget format card. i just don't do that, formatted first time and never again since then
@vysus
do whatever you want. i just suggested a combo that works very well for me

You're welcome
Unfortunately, NRG ROMs and PPP builds are not suitables for italian providers: using the first ones I had battery drain, trying the seconds I have had continuos data drops, missed calls & SMS, HUGE and nearly incredible battery drain.
I still would like to know which version of Chucky fits better with android, it's the last chance, after that I prefer to let go...
i think an correctly configured setcpu is the most important fact for battery life.
my combo:
winmob:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=793814
radio: 2.12.50
Droid: hyperdroid 1.7 (nexusHD2 since yesterday cuz of new harastin kernel)
sdcard: transcent class6 sdhc
battery drain without setcpu (overnight, 8h): 40%
with : 3%
TBH I have found no difference between a fully featured winmo rom (laurentius V4 or Energy nov 8th) versus Ozdroid which was stripped down.
I have found that of course the kernel makes the most difference - currently on S2 and it seems rather peachy.
As for battery drain I have found that it is fine even without setcpu on this kernel - however - once in a while, especially at the end of the day, the battery drains super fast - I believe there is an errant process or data transfer that messes it up (perhaps whatsapp?).
I stillhowever have PPP disconnects regardless.
I haven't had one since I disabled the stock widget though.
i only have ppp disconnects if i kill all my tasks. if not, it works fine
I start off my android adventure few weeks back and now I found my treasure and have stop searching.
Here is my combination,
WM ROM: vbn clarity
Android rom: mdj froyo revolution 1.5
Kernel: mdj s2
I have tried some other build and the battery life can only last me half a day but with this combination after more than 12 hours of usage, I still have 40%. (Usage: check email every 30 mins, check xda app every 30mins, moderate web surfing, a few calls)
So for those still struggling to find the combination, you might want to try my combination. Enjoy

A different spin on Android Issues
I too was having issues with SOD, random freezing/rebooting, robot voice etc and basically gave up on having a usable version of Android working on my device.
But then I had a slight lapse in judgement and came up with another hair-brained idea... I decided to attempt to get T-Mobile to let me just switch to a different phone like the Galaxy S / G2 / or MyTouch 4G.
So I task 29'ed the phone, flashed back to the OEM rom, then removed HSPL while not at work... Over the next 2 hours I began to notice that I was having issues even on the default OEM rom.
I got curious, removed the SD card, re-installed HSPL, re-downloaded the T-Mobile Official Rom from their website, and task 29'ed the phone again, reinstalled the OEM rom, and removed HSPL again just to make sure that I hadn't just got a corrupt download or something.
Within 20 mins of loading the T-Mobile rom back on the phone, my phone randomly rebooted itself. Later while I was in the middle of a phone call the phone just made a weird buzzing sound and froze. The buzzing sound would not go away until I removed the battery and restarted. I was also having many of the issues I was seeing in all of the Android builds that I had tried like the screen taking forever to come back on after being locked, the screen being non-responsive etc...
I had attributed all of these problems to the Android roms I was using and Android not being 100% and stil too buggy for the HD2 when it actually was a problem with the device itself.
I went to T-Mobile last night and they are sending me a new phone (probably a refurb) by the beginning of next week. I'm hoping that the new device will clear up all of the issues.
Just thought I would share my experiences, maybe some of you that are having issues with the Android builds could actually just have a bad device like I did...

Followed your suggest, flashed latest Chucky GTX, did anything else, switched to Android, unplugghed my phone at 2.30 PM, some calls and SMS, few calls received, battery is 42%, over 10% per hour that turns to 12 and over using the device, now I'm hopeless

Uhhh... what? It depends on what you have running I guess. Mine seems to be running fine. Off the charger for about 3 hours and only down to 90%.
Since I've just had my HD2's screen replaced, I'm still on the stock ROM from when I got the phone back from HTC. I just popped my SD card back in and off I went. The stock ROM works perfectly with Android for me. The radio is the one they installed (see sig).
I'm not sure that WM ROM has that much effect tbh. With the ppp wrapper patched and running the S2 kernal from MDJ, I managed a 320 mile trip with Google Navigate running the entire time. I never had a single data drop or problem with the phone. I was connected to my car stereo via bluetooth too.
ive been playing around with android a lot recently, but i seem to be getting the same or similar errors with every build. i think the problem comes down to an unformatted memory card. i want to start with a fresh phone and memroy card.
my question is which WM build is best for android? i would be using android as my main os but windows mobile would serve as a'backup' os incase android dies on me. i already have a build of android i want to use so just need some advice on which WM build to use. once i have done that i can format the memory card and re-install android.
not sure if it matters, but i would be using a boot loader to get into android. i have radio 2.15.

I'll try to answer the question by sharing my own experience:
I have T-Mobile US HD2 model and tried several builds under "stock" ROM and Radio 2.08 and most of them worked with really bad battery life. Anyhow, I finally decided to move on with installing Hard SPL 2.08 so I can flash custom ROMs into my device. After that following happened:
1. I tried ChuckyDroid ROM lite - barely occupied any space after boot in WinMo - but did not affect Android and how it worked AT ALL! I had shubcraft 2.0 at the moment;
2. Finally after all the chasing I wanted to have fully functional WinMo Rom and fully functional Android build and here is my setup:
Energy 2.5 GTX WinMo ROM based on 3.14 latest TMOUS Update (with the start button on the top);
Android HyperDroid 1.7 with mychprima's kernel (240 lcd density);
Radio is 2.15.50.xx
Re-formatted 16GB stock SD Card I got with my HD2
Results:
Super-smooth Android operation at all times;
Without SetCPU installed (since kernel is already OCd and UVd) my battery life has been AWESOME! I get constant 3-6mA battery stand-by and that alone gives me really good battery life. I am getting one day and few hours after 1.5hr re-charging - that I did not beat with anything I tried on my hd2 before this setup. I have reseted phone last time several weeks ago and not a single force close message so far (to knock on wood hihi) ... No reason to lie - but if you have some time it may be good combo to try our. BTW I do not offer any guarantees on what you do with your phone lol - that's my "fine print" lol

thanks for that, Energy ROMs seem to come up a lot, and as development for my current WM build (CleanEx DSE 6.1) seems to have stopped, il give that a go. im currently getting a lot of force close messages revolving around the sync features. also my HTC calender doesnt work and contact images do not display (I assume because it cant sync them from facebook). im currently using MDJ FroYo Sense Revolution v.1.7 as my android build, but il try your setup. battery life has become a bit of an issue for me, but i am a 'heavy' user.
is it better to format the memory card through WM or through the PC? and should i be setting any options or just leave them at default values?

What I did was reformatting under multimedia card reader - I do not think it matters but that's what I did.
I did find some registry tweaks that manages sd card power a while ago and tried them under stock rom and radio - it did not work but I never bothered to go back since my battery is not really getting drained - lasts enough for me.
I only installed BSB Tweaks and disabled EVERYTHING and left only power-saving ON. I have no clue whether this helps at all or not but just did it as a preventive measure ... also, make sure auto-lock is DISABLED under Windows. That was one of the old issues to get un-wake-able screens ... however, so far I have not really had any problems.
Keep in mind: if you want to install many apps that you would like to test - do not do it in massive installations one after another. Some apps are known to screw up battery life and stand-by mAs. Therefore, install couple at the time - after reboot if you get low mA - then app is not draining the battery.
So far I have experienced Extended power widget to drain the battery a lot and also any type of news browsers like e-buzz, pulse, etc - they seem to constantly pull data and remain active. However, they may work for you if you have data disabled for the most part (which is probably not the case) - forgot to mention mine is on 3/3.5G at all times.
- Background Data is checked (ON);
- Auto Sync is unchecked (OFF);
- Brightness disabled under very strong light (110 lumens of my flashlight hihihi) and set on 35-40% I think - somewhere around there.
- I have three home-screens and do not feel I need more
- Weather widget, current widget and google search widget - I do not have any clocks for simple reason - when the phone is locked I can easily see the time by clicking the hardware buttons - so what's the point of the background one ...
If I remember any other tips and tricks I'll let you know.
