What the heck happened to my Wimax?? wimax partition error??? - EVO 4G General

I have mine rooted with unrevoked and used Fresh 3.3.0.1. Everything was working perfectly including 4g. I did not apply latest Fresh updates nor have I ever flashed the radio or firmware. I did update PRL and profile last week.
I have it off 99 percent of the time, but today I wanted to use 4g. Wimax connects then immediately turns off.
So I ran terminal emulator via these instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=741019&highlight=wimax+issue
I get the attached picture:
{

WTH? I renamed the xtree file in /data/misc/wimax to re-create before I ran the terminal, but that was it.
What happened? How did I loose wimax w/o flashing radio or wimax?
What should I do to get wimax back?
Thanks

i hit su
then i run that. all it says is <rsa> </rsa>
did the rsa keys get removed? how did it get removed w/o flashing radio/wimax??? i dont understand how it was working, stopped w/o a change in firmware/radio/wimax
i there a fix or do i have to return the phone?

ok i read other xda forums and if you run the command thru terminal emulator you might not get rsa key line visible and that it should be run thru adb which i will try tomorrow.
i did a nandroid backup and don't see wimax.img in there....i did it thru clockwork recovery.
i did a wimax update to latest version just now. here is what it says now:

As a precaution/warning to others, how does this happen?

no one knows how rsa keys get deleted. happens when flashing kernels and/or wimax updates.

make sure your 4G mac matches the one under the battery

I just looked at some old nandroids I have saved on my computer. The oldest one was from clockwork and doesn't have a wimax.img. The next newer one was from after I switched to Ra and does contain wimax.img.
Looks like clockwork doesn't backup wimax.

ahhh ok there is more to add.
i just did this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=797337 to check out my RSA keys.
i DO have my RSA keys! so i don't understand why i can no longer connect go 4g???

If you didn't lose your RSA keys maybe it is a spent tower issue near your house.
A side note i noticed yesterday that when connected to my pc as disk drive i couldn't even turn on 4g. Disconnected from pc and all was good.

my co workers 4g will turn on and scan, but doesn't turn off like mine. very strange....
and yes MAC addresses match also.

Can this be avoided by running the mentioned commands, logging the RSA keys and somehow replacing them if/when they're deleted?

The commands won't print your keys out, but if you install amon ra 1.8 the nandroid backup will contain a wimax.img with your saved keys in it.

nm i figured it out. im making nandroid backup to see if wimax.img is on there.

Having issues unrooting!

I'm using flipz 1.56 RUU and for some reason, when it tells me to connect the phone to the PC, it says it cannot be found. I usually use a MAC to connect my Hero and all sorts of stuff, and I just found a PC to be able to unroot. What seems to be the issue? I know the phone is connected because I can look at it's folders and such.

I'm having this EXACT same issue... But, if you can look at its folders, go into the notifications and set it to "charge only" and make sure USB debugging is enabled.
You need to install HTC Sync on the PC in order to use the RUU.

Grrr...oh well unrooting I stay
Am about to unroot so I can take my Hero in to sprint, I have dust under the screen. Anyone want to point out the best (easiest) way to unroot?
I seen a post where it could be done by just sdcard, would that or using the kitchen be the best way to go?
I am running a 2.1 ROM.
Thanks!

Method 1 is dead simple
Just 5 steps?? WoW
I looked for a little bit today at work and could not find anything this easy. LOL
Anyone tested this?
1. Download the following file: http://www.multiupload.com/Q3RMV5MTRF
2. place in /root of SD card
3. Reboot phone into HBoot mode, by holding Volume Down
4. Press action (the trackball) when prompted
5. Reboot phone
while i havent done it, so cant confirm, the unroot from sd does seem to be the most foolproof way to do it. all their going to look for is the correct recovery.img and stock feel, so it only makes sense
Cool, Thanks!! I am going to give this a try (15 mins before I run in to sprint) I am going to hate to go with about my custom rom and add the added stuff I get with root!

[GUIDE] ROOTED USERS ONLY: Backup and restore Documents to Go Paid

Dataviz's Documents to Go does not work properly in market.
If you are rooted and migrate to Froyo (or any other rom) and wipe, Dataviz does not reinstall your paid application based on your Google account info and you need to reinstall the demo application in market.
When you reinstall the application, you can reinstall the demo version or you can re-purchase the new version
Option to buy new version does not exist in Froyo.
When you reinstall the demo version, the upgrade you paid for does not work becase when you re-install, you get a new registration number which Dataviz uses to track registrations.
There are two solutions:
You can back up your installation data yourself or you can call DataViz, if you still have your original registration number.
To manage this yourself and not deal with Dataviz:
Part 1: Create a data backup BEFORE you wipe/flash a new ROM:
adb start-server
adb remount
make a note of the working directory for next step
adb pull /data/data/com.dataviz.docstogo com.dataviz.docstogo
you now have a copy of your dataviz.dtg data (including reg info) on your PC.
Part 2: To restore your paid Documents to Go after new ROM flash:
Return to the directory where you ran the pull from
Reinstall Documents To Go demo from market
adb kill-server
wait for server to shut down
adb start-server
adb remount
adb push com.dataviz.docstogo /data/data/com.dataviz.docstogo
Your premium paid app is restored
Optional: If you've already upgraded and can't access your paid application, you're not out of luck if you've done a nandroid backup.
Nandroid backup your current install.
Wipe, then nandroid restore your previous backup containing the installed & paid Docs2Go app.
Perform Part 1 above
Wipe, then nandroid restore newest backup.
Perform Part 2 above
NOTE: This works on my rooted Froyo. This should not be required with a stock phone with OTA update.

High-end Android phones are pretty damn awesome by themselves. But there’s always a little magic to be had by rooting. For those that are fearless and throw caution to the wind, hop on inside for the quick and relatively painless list of what you need and how to do it…
Let the rooting begin…
1. Download this file — PC36IMG.zip — and copy it to the root of your SD card.
2. Turn off phone. Then power back on holding the power and volume button. **If the PC36IMG files was placed correctly and you successfully booted into the bootloader, you should see text appearing on the screen as the phone automatically checks said file.
3. At the prompt to install the image(s), select “Yes”.
4. Reboot
5. Delete or rename the PC36IMG file so that it won’t automatically try to install it again the next time you venture into bootloader land.
And that’s that. Not nearly as hard or involved as some of the earlier HTC Android devices. EVO 4G owners should try it out and let us know how it goes.

So rooting like this will still give me SU controls, meaning I can use SetCpu? But still with the stock 2.1 sense?
Question about rooting!
1. How do I get Sprint apps back after rooting (such as Sprint TV, Sprint Nav etc.) or are they part of the ROM?
2. How do I backup my phone before rooting? In case I have to return I am sure I will have to unroot it! Is this possible?

[GUIDE] Restore saved WiFi when flashing a new Rom

Greetings,
first of all, since this is my first guide, please be kind and for another thing, english is not my mother tongue so pardon eventual spelling errors.
I'am sort of a "flash-o-holic" and one thing that drives me nuts is everytime i flash a new rom, i have to reenter my saved WiFi-networks including their passwords. And since these passwords are really long, about 16 to 26 characters, it's a very tedious process.
But a found a solution or workaround, that i want to share with you.
First, grab your wpa_supplicant.conf file, usually it's saved under /system/etc/wifi/ (you can either pull it via adb or copy it with a root explorer to your sdcard) a save this file on your PC.
Now download your desired rom (if you haven't already), open it with a zip tool (i use 7zip and so should you ), navigate to /system/etc/wifi/ and replace the wpa_supplicant.conf file.

And that's it!
You can just flash it like normal via custom recovery.
Worked for me everytime. (=
Nice, I never thought about that. I usually restore this using Titanium Backup, but that requires getting TB onto the phone first. With your method wi-fi will be available imediately after booting.
EDIT: Except... that file is mostly empty. For me the file with my wifi data is /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf
...or you can just backup your data using Google. it restores your WiFi passwords

Same for me
Well, i guess the Main Argument against that would be:
When you need to restore from Google, you have to connect to wifi first, right?

US996 IMEI null - 0's - How Do I Fix THIS?

After doing an official LG Bootloader Unlock and installing TWRP, I accidentally restored the EFS partition from my other US996 when attempting to "clone" it (not the IMEI, though, of course).
First thing that happened was a RED exclamation triangle (instead of ORANGE) with CORRUPT message, no boot.
So, I used LGUP to upgrade and was back to stock, locked bootloader.
When I tried to "fastboot unlock unlock.bin", I got an error. The IMEI shown was all zeros and the message, naturally said "Invalid unlock.bin file".
I used the DirtySanta method to unlock/TWRP/SuperSU, but, even though I could get into TWRP recovery, in normal boot, the phone wants a secure boot password and gives me 22 of 30 tries left.
So, I did LGUP again and I'm back where i was before DirtySanta.
How do I fix THIS:?

Thanks, but... After spending over an hour, I can't get the diagnostic ports to show on my PC. I used HiddenMenuCall.apk to get to the service menu and enabled the ports on the phone, installed the port drivers and all other software in the guide except ADB platform tools (have it) and the video that shows the procedure to hex edit the file is impossible to follow because the command window is illegible.
Anyone want a useless US996?
Going through this crap just isn't worth the $132.50 the phone cost me. I'd just as soon buy another one. I only got it as a tester/backup so I don't screw up my good one by messing with ROMs.

Ok, now it worked after some messing around. entered imei from back of phone and the others from settings and it seems to stick but not radio still. Maybe it dos not have the right bands, I'm in Norway. But my VS995 and F800 have no radio problems
