Haha I had this same question today. The reason I would want it charging when in Clockwork is because at the exact nanomillisecond before I clear my battery stats, I want to make sure it is still at the 100% it claimed to be at when I rebooted into Clockwork. Rebooting seems to take more effort than just being on, so I definitely want it charging while in clockwork. Plus, you can't tell by a blue full charge light bc I think the light is always orange in recovery, but I may be mistaken there.

I don't believe so, but I'm nowhere near positive. I know the Droid X doesn't charge in its recovery mode, but I believe my old G1 did.

Nah it charges... when you do the battery stat clearing, you charge it fully, unplug to boot to recovery, then plug it back in to maintain charge so its still at 100%, then wipe the stats... plus I charged in recovery just to test... worked for me lol.

Need help

Okay I'm running dj05 modem on rubixs dl30 base last night my phone went crazy. My phone was not reading correct battery stats. I would plug it to charger and within a minute say full charge and the display would flicker while plugged up. So I wiped batt stats that didn't help so I wiped factory reset ans davlik cache. That didn't help so this morning I was going to flask eb01 and now Odin won't recognise my phone. Any help would be greatful.

Yeah def sounds like your cable now. You haven't used any other phones charger lately? This was the undoing of my samsung moment. It became incredibly buggy after using a bb charger one night. Can you attempt a restore or backup through cwm?

Good thing you posted...yank it quick. Big no no man...reboot and try syncing with the comp again.
You have to be very cautious of the aftermarket chargers and cords you use.

That's not a good sign then. Some aftermarket chargers will fry the ports amoung other things. Attempt a backup/restore and try it with an authorized sammy cord/charger. If that doesn't work then you may have bricked the phone.

Max charge 97%

Well my Max charge is 97 what could that be I am running cm7 any help is my battery damaged?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA Premium App
This belongs in question and answers section.
You might be able to fix this by reconditioning your battery, otherwise your battery is just getting old
It could not be getting old I just got it last month
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA Premium App
Thats how it is.
cm7 and miui have same problems, and its to save you from over charging, and thats some phones start heating up too much.
Don't worry about it, its for your own phones life.
Ok that's good to know and my phone charge extremely slow and sometime not at all but then I reboot and my battery life goes way up wat is that about
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA Premium App
Thats because your phone is mis-reading your battery's charges.
a Re-condition would help phone re-read it more accurately, but idk how you'd do that since to re condition you have to charge till' 100% lol.
Will they change rom to make it 100 cuz I don't want to go back to 2.2 rom cm7 is to good

the CM7 your using is not OFFICIAL, so the problems your facing is up to the developer to solve, not the CM team because as far as i know, they haven't even supported CM7 for us fully yet.
it's just how cm7 is reading the battery. on one revision i would get a max of 95% then 97% on another. just recondition the battery after its been plugged in for while after hitting the 97%. worst case is you have to recondition your batter again after you flash another rom or it gets fixed.
Do you know what cm7 version they've used as a base for the vibrant version? The Nexus S does this by default, to protect the battery as others have mentioned.

YOU need to re-condition, YOU can fix it.
the people on MIUI or CM7 can't.
As stated its a known thing.
I used my Samsung Focus to charge a battery to 100 percent put it in my phone and it discharged to 95% then back up 97%. So the phone isnt charging the phone up all the way as it is. This is also good for the life of the battery and the battery will last longer. Also it gives and accurate reading. Sometimes with phones if it says 100 percent it is discharging thus you actually only have <95%.
I fixed the problem I just switched to best rom(trigger) then reconditioned and it charges perfect thanks for the help

This is by design and should occur on all Roms. Below is a link to a good Phandroid article tiled "Your Smartphone's Battery Gauge is Lying to You and its not Such a Bad Thing". It really does an excellent job with a fair amount of data explaining why your battery will only charge to 95 - 97%.
It boils down to three options:
The phone manufacturers essentially have three choices:
1. Use older charging styles which actually maintain a full battery, thereby decreasing its eventual life
2. Use new charging methods and have an accurate battery gauge
3. Use new charging methods and have the inaccurate battery gauge

RECONDITION.
I told you before everytime you flash a different rom, the battery is going to be different, so reconditioning is going to help you make it more accurate reading. brah.

You may need to do it a few times.
But since you are on a 2.2.1 rom... no need to worry, when it tells you its at 97% it's actually at 100, soon when you don't notice going from 1% to 2% will take more than regular time, it'll make up for the 3% somewhere along the lines
Ok ill let u know the results of this second try and do I have to recharge when phone off

It's hard to say. It could be either. Does the phone ever charge up at all? (when it's powered down?). If not, I would first try another charger cable, to rule that out. If that doesn't solve it, then I'd be suspicious of the charge port, and most likely take it in to sprint. A little more info would be good.

There is a known issue with Evo charger its referred to as -charging port durability by Sprint- take it to a repair store and if you have any issues ask if it is part of the above know issue. This does not apply if its been pulled out by physical damage.

It's your charger more likely cus it happened to me with a cheap charger. So I think its your charger. But if your using a legit charger from like sprint/htc, then something is wrong. I only use HTC chargers.

Does it do it on Factory UNrooted? If so, I'd say take it back to sprint while it's unrooted and on the factory stock rom and have them replace or fix it
I had the same problem with a refurb I got that replaced my original Evo. It worked fine for a week or two, then one night, I plugged it in as usual and woke up the next morning with a battery on the verge of dying. The charging light was even still orange when plugged in. I tried every charger I had (evo original, BlackBerry, Samsung, Sprint car charger...) to no avail. Charging with a wall adaptor and USB port on computer yielded the same lackluster results. It did this when rooted and not, with custom and stock roms, and didn't change with kernels. I ended up having to charge my spare battery with a wall charger for the battery and switch every hour or two. I went to the store and they looked at it and gave me 2 new batteries and a new charger (for palm pre) and tried to send me on my way. I plugged the charger into the wall at the store and showed the repair person that it was still losing battery while plugged in and "charging". Needless to say, I got another refurb right away that didn't do the same thing.
Bring it in to the store and get yourself a "new" phone. It worries me a bit that they might be pushing these refurbs out to stores a bit to quickly.

Strange problem I recently developed on my vibrant. Suggestions?

Ok so these last couple of days I've been having the strangest problem with my vibrant. The battery litterally sucks it self on the charger. For example, today at 3 in the morning I woke up to find my phone charging at 71% I was like ok good. Woke up at 7 and the phone was completly dead! It looses power on the charger. At first i thought it was the battery so i switched it. And whattya know. Still the same problem. Then i thought it was the usb port since ya know samsungs port sucks ass so j get a new charger and nothing. Let me remind you tthat this is a recent problem. Any body know a fix to this?

The battery should not drain like that period not even cm is that bad
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA Premium App
My point is nothing to do with rom or phone but rather the charger or cable my be damage and causing short that drains the battery. Hence the suggestion to try other cables and charge methods to eliminate the possibility of this being the culprit.

Does it also fail to charge if the phone is turned off? If it charges while off then perhaps its a software issue after all. If not then the charge/usb port might be bad. How are you charging the battery between posting?

Have you tried to backup and re-flash your phone? Have you tried a battery calibration by wiping the battery stats? My advice *having never encountered that issue* would be to save all your data, make a list of the apps you use regularly and re-flash the phone then manually re-download each app and do not restore anything. if all goes well and it charges like normal then your set and can if you wish restore your old data and/or apps 1 per day till you notice the problem, return if it does.
I did just that. Reflashed a new rom and less drain but its definatly.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
My next advice would be to try stock 2.2 for a day or so and see if it has issues. then if its ok try a new stable version of cm7 or miui * different build than previously used* and see if the problem returns.

If the phone gets hotter than 120° then it wil stop charging and actually dicharge. Make sure your not overcloking or ajything.
My advice on which rom if your not set would be to use trigger. I moved to trigger a long time ago after one of my bionix flashes didnt work quite right and have not looked back yet. I am currently on project v with trigger theme which is a little more like stock but with tweaks than a fully custom rom.

In that case I would be sure to flash back to stock clean and then go to a different rom, I suggest Trigger 3.2 very stable in my experience, and charge to 100% and do a battery calibration. Trigger comes with an app to calibrate the battery and be sure its fully charged.

phone dies when playing games

randomly when I play little empire, my phone will suddenly die.then when I turn it on it says I have no battery left. sometimes if I reboot it'll say I have around 20 to 30 percent. this happens even after I tried battery calibration (the app and in cwm) and even if I fully charge my phone. I have to comment cause im having the same problems. But instead playing games, mine will just die. It happen now btw, it was on charge all night woke up and seen that there was no charge on the battery, i unpluged it and now it wont charge and my orange led just flashes when i plug it into a charger. In order to get out of it last time i used a walmart charger. Took out the battery pluged it in, took it out over and over and different ways. I was about to bash it. Well then out of the blue it started to charge again and turn on with absolutly no charge but did show it started to charge again. It only happens with cm7, cause thats only what i use the most. So i dunno whats the deal is im tempted to take it to tmobile store and see if they can give me a replacement battery and to see if its the battery itself. So hell i dont know what the heck its doing but i need it for my job cause im a truck driver and i depend on it to get loads and what not. It doesnt power up,doesnt boot into recovery, but does turn on when i hold the volume button and power button in the vibrate unknown mode and orange led flashes. I know i didnt brick it because ive been in this situation before and works after i did the special pattern to get it working again. The pattern is unknown cause it all depends so dont ask it was a euthastic comment. so hell buddy me and you are in the same boat until then

Edit** ok i managed to get it turned on again, pulled battery, sim, sdcard. Put it on charge then waited a few minutes, then put battery in it and then plugged it back in. It worked, im going to try to post a screenshot of the battery usage. I got to let the battery charge up some, so i can put everything back in it. I dunno it may be related to the emmc chip.
