got a Samsung Galaxy S to replace the X10. Holy... everyone else should jump ship.
Used the same SD card I got with the Xperia and still am .... it has absolutely no effect on the recording what so ever.

Kinda obvious. SD card has no bearing on video. Tried an SGS, no thanks.

Really?? Then I should hold on to my intention of getting a 16GB Class 10 then.. Just continue using my 8GB Class 2
Had a galaxy s...sold it to get my x10 back.
Sent from my X10a using XDA App
I had to use a Galaxy S for two weeks while my Xperia was out for a case replacement.
I couldn't wait to get rid of the thing. What a terrible phone.
from what I've read from the internet, the i9000 is actually one of the fastest phones in that era
it is also the phone that allows you most freedom in terms of custom roms and all that crap
but to run fast in stock rom, you just need to do a lot of modifications.
NB: My mother has an i9000 still on 2.1-update1 (didn't have the time to do the update for her)
and it runs as fast as my x10 2.1+JIT+taskiller with only using taskiller and no other speed mods
The SD card affects the HD video recording a bit.
With my class2 and class4 sd cards the HD videos had short stayer, where the picture didn't move for about 0.5 to 1 sec but with my class10 everything is nice and fluent.
My Canon Vixia requires Class 4 for 1080p at something like 20 or 24 mbps (compared to the oem rate of 6 mbps).
Class 4 is overkill for 6 mbps. It's either something with how SE transmits data to and from the card (driver issue) or the software (not enough of a cache/buffer).
Back when I had my N85, it would stutter at times even though I had a class 10 card in there. It took stuttery video at times because I think the cache/buffer wasn't proper.
Sorry but this thread wasn't designed to slate the X10 as I genuinely like(d) it but when I got the Galaxy it literally blows it out the water. Stock 2.1 on the X10 is laggy and just plain unacceptable but stock 2.2 on the Galaxy is just the same tbh but once a single lagfix and root is applied its silky smooth.
HD recording starts quicker and saves quicker as do pictures.
Now onto the class - it really doesn't. Coming from someone who got really frustrated at this feature on the X10 and blaming it on the SD card it really isn't the cards fault just an inneficient phone.
Also : how come the SGS connects to wifi in 2 seconds but regardless of ROM the X10 is about 5-10?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
i think youre chatting rubbish that it takes two seconds. It doesnt even take 2 seconds on a computer to connect.

I'd say that's the main reason I'd stick with the T989 - it does have the better camera of the two.
I may not use the cam all that much, but when I do I want one that works decently.

My sentiments exactly.
Performance wise the cpu difference in them is minimal at best and somewhat just overkill on the 989d
The camera on the nexus is what originally drove me to the 989 over the nexus, had the phone for about 3-4months now and takin maybe 20pictures, that being saidits nice to have the quality when you need it, expecially those shots with photafin high quality xD
Not having an SD card does suck. I see no real difference in the camera. Battery is about the same. Better with an extended one. Performance wise I see no difference. Rom options are better. I have never seen a rom with so many options as team kangs aokp. Screen is better but not by much. Once you get used to ics it kicks ass. Didn't think it was that special until I really got into it. The sgs2 will get ics at some point so really it all boils down to rom options in my opinion. The nexus will have better dev support. Other than that there is no big difference. Well, the SD card.

Yea it works great on tmo I bought one the last time daily steals were selling them. Phone is great, I am partial to vanilla Android... Everyone will say that it's worse then the t989, but having & using both, it's really not. MP aren't everything, the camera is not bad quality at all. Screen is amazing. I couldn't be happier with it.

Thanks for the response. I am thinking about getting it. I am worried because I use wifi calling at work.
Personally I consider myself a little too invested in the T989 now.
I would have gotten it if I didn't already buy all these accessories for the t989.
I also doubt I could sell this phone for 500 dollars to make up for the price I already paid for it... and jump boat to the Galaxy Nexus.
so i got my hands on an HTC ONE and im very impressed.
design wise, its feels like a mac book pro, its almost as thick as GS3.
Sense 5.0 just might win me back from my Note 2.
camera was great, and picture and video quality was awesome.
one thing that really took me by surprise was the speakers.
sound quality was awesome and i could hear some bass in phone speakers.
i would love to have this phone out, but i wont buy it because no removeable battery & no expandable memory.

Definitely want to get my hands on it now.
I used to be all about I won't get a phone without removable battery and or no SD slot.
However, the more I think about how I use a phone and hoping if something did happen to the battery, your carrier would help you out, then I see no issue in getting this phone. 64G is plenty of space for me, so I am good there.
So getting this phone, but going to test the heck out of it at the store before hand.

As for the non removeable battery, I really don't care as long as it isn't malfunctioning. I don't plan on keeping the phone for more than 2-3 years. I don't fast charge my phone either with higher amperage that would kill the batteries capacity and discharge rate.
As for the 64gb internal issue, I assume everyone that is complaining HAS a 64gb microsd that is full? Is 64gb really not enough for you people? I also realise you don't actually get 64 after android is installed, but still... With usb OTG just buy yourself a cable and microsd reader.

With both of my previous phones, after less than a year the battery was substantially less efficient than it was when it was new - held less charge. I definitely wouldn't want to use the same one for 3 years. It's also nice to have the option to replace it with a higher-capacity one.
As for storage, 64GB would be fine, but you can't get the 64GB version in the UK. I regularly fill up my 32GB memory card with downloaded video, and that's standard-definition stuff; on the the One it'll be HD.
I've ordered a One anyway. I'm an addict.
You know, for those still iffy about to expandable storage, remember this. The one has a 64gig variant. Most of the devices out right now with expandable storage can only take a 64gig card maximum anyways. And that's only on a few devices.
I would understand if the one only had a 16gig variant. Even I wouldn't buy it with a 16gig internal storage either. But has a 32 and 64gig variants. So what's the deal?

I have a Desire Z, which came out, I believe, November 2010. I got a larger Mugen battery for it as soon as it was released, maybe two or three months afterwards. I've been using that battery ever since. So that's over two years. It still holds its charge really well, I don't have any complaints.
I hear what you're saying though, it is a concern. The question is, how easy would it be to open up the One and replace the battery? Probably really difficult, which means that, effectively, these devices have a short lifespan.
It is a shame, really.
I don't think it's always either/or when it comes to unibody designs and an easily servicable battery - imagine if you could slide out a "cartridge" from the bottom of the phone, which would contain the battery, SIM card, SD card. The best of all worlds. The only compromise would be the latch to keep it locked.
I open phones to replace parts and etc. evo and evo 3d were easy to open and fix, evo lte was a bit complicated, but this guy is up there with Iphone, when it comes to opening and replacing part, I did not see any openings or areas where screws would be hidden, so replacing the battery is out of the question.
I keep three charged batteries with me all times (I saw Miami heat players leaving their hotel in Boston when they were here for a playoff a couple of years ago, and got to talk and shake hands w lebron and wade but couldn't take pictures because my battery had died) since than I dont buy any phone that does not have a removable battery. Right now I have a 16 gb note 2 with a 64 gb sd card and both are almsot full, I just like having an option to do what I want when I want to. If I didnt want those options I would've went with the iphone!

It'll come apart. The HOX had no obvious openings either but you just need to pry the screen out and you've got access to everything. Being an aluminium body rather than polycarbonate (which could flex to allow you to get the screen out) there will have to be a proper way to pull it apart.

This. I'm getting real tired of the argument about not enough storage. I feel at this point with a 64gb internal storage the point is invalid. Why would anyone have that many movies on a phone. Or music? I enjoy watching clips but a whole 2 hour video on my phone? No thanks. I loaded up all my music onto Google music a long time ago and have never has problems since trying to listen to it. Look at the inside of the body along the side - a whole bunch of tiny tabs. My guess is these hold the screen in, pry the plastic side of the phone away from the screen (may need special tool) and the tabs will release the screen. Once screen is out you have access to everything.

You are right. The S6 is practically an iPhone. Its a shame. But I am sure you know that Samsung had a terrible year last year while Apple had one of the best quarters they ever had. Samsung had to change something, and I guess that change was copying the iPhone again. I guess they're hoping to draw back a lot of iPhone users now that their design can compete. But that's about it. I do not understand why HTC can manage to fit a micro sd slot in their phone. Why couldn't Samsung?
So at the moment, are there any new flagship phones with both removable battery and SD card?

@MattMJB0188 - Cuz htc's newest device isn't 6.8mm thick, that is why they manged to fit an SD slot.
Also you are forgetting an important point about the memory of the S6. It uses new type of flash memory, instead of the old NAND one, meaning that the overall performance of the phone would improve. Samsung are trying to achieve better write and read speeds basically.
Now imagine a scenario where you did had a SD card slot. Well what do you thing the speed of read and write would be from the card? Like 5x slower? Hence the performance of the whole device wouldn't feel as snappy. Then ppl are going to start bi***ing about the lag, and not being able to copy a whole blue-ray movie onto their cards for under 3 seconds and so on and so on.
So yeah. I thing Samsung tried dodging a bullet there by removing the SD card. Of course it has its negative sides, but in general should be fine without SD slot.

You are right. Of course, can we really expect all 4 major U.S. carriers offering 32/64/128gB configurations of the phone? I don't think so. If history repeats itself (which with Sammy you know it will) the carriers will only get 32GB variants, and then MAYBE 64GB variants sometime this summer with 128GB be left out over seas. This is WHY expandable storage is a MUST with Samsung phones. I'll gladly take a performance hit instead of have no option at all.
Besides... people complained about TW lagging and simple things taking a few extra seconds. I never read from anyone on here that their SD card was so slow that the phone's performance was taking a huge hit.

The argument about faster memory is stupid. Nobody is stopping Samsung from putting faster memory onboard. However, do you really need lightning fast memory for storing your music, or photos, maps, or videos? No. That's bollocks. SD card is plenty fast for those.

The fact that most carriers (not only US ones) are not offering the 128GB model, or even the 64GB is true, and it sucks. I, too am very sad about removing the SD card slot. The SD card saved my a** a couple of times with my previous phones, so it is a must have for sure.

To you it might be stupid. To Samsung it isn't, cuz now they can brag about them having the fastest performing handset with the fastest flash memory. Does this help me, you and the average user in ANY way? No. Does Samsung care about that? Absolutely not.
On the other hand ppl with S6 will be able to show good results on the different benchmarks, which is.... nice..... I guess.
No reason why they can't have both super fast imbedded storage and an SD card. Of course SD cards are slower than internal, that's always been the case. I'd load the SD card with FLAC music favorites and enjoy the speedy internal storage for more frequent transfers. I understand Samsung's reasoning behind it, but I still don't like it, and it's quite likely this will prevent me from dropping money on Samsung again, at least for my next upgrade. For everyone like me who opts out, they'll probably gain 2 or 3 new buyers, so I doubt they'll miss us much. I was hoping Samsung would find a way to pursue their new industrial design objectives, while retaining the features that have kept me buying and recommending Galaxy phones, but no dice. Of course, if the phone is otherwise so good that the loss of SD, battery, and waterproofing still make it a better device than the M9, G4, Z4....
If I thought there was any reason to believe that the Saygus V2 will: 1. be a real product, 2. work on T-Mobile, 3. get WiFi calling, I'd jump on that.
How one can improve almost everything and then decide to get rid of a removable battery and sd card is beyond imaginable.
So glad I've bought the Note great design, functionality and it has all the features I'm expecting from a premium device.
Hopefully, Samsung doesn't screw up the Note series too.

Probably the G4
I don't think it was just one reason they decided to remove the SD-card and use a non-removable battery
I think they removed the SD card to ensure the user experience was always fast. How many threads have you guys read where crummy SD cards caused slowness, or corruption or some other problem. I know I've read a few. Apple has never liked SD cards, neither has Google themselves. With UFS being introduced, a very fast, serial, full duplex storage connection, that starts at 32GB, it was time to remove the SD slot.
I think they decided to go with a non-removable battery because of all the wireless technology they had to cram into this thing. On top of all the normal wireless technology crammed into phones these days (GSM/CDMA, LTE, 802.11 AC 2x2 MIMO and N, NFC, Bluetooth 4.1), they also had to add Qi, PowerMat wireless charging and MST. I don't think they could get away with a removable cover.
Just guessing, so I could be wrong.
The Galaxy S6 Edge rocks. That's the one. It will fly.

Well from start Samsung has always portrayed that we will give you a better ""iphone". They did it in S1 to s3 by copying iphone. They changed a bit but that didn't work out well and now they are back to copy business. Seriously this is sad for loyal buyers. Still i am glad they didn't ruin Note series like S series.
http://www.techradar.com/us/news/ph...axy-s6-release-date-news-and-features-1232945
Although I understand the direction Samsung is going in regards to compact design, am not too thrilled with the inability to access the battery and no more removable storage (SD card).
The end is near
I find I don't really need to change the battery that much anymore. The batteries are getting better so if the processor is more efficient you probably don't need the extra battery. I also would give up the SD card for a faster phone.
If i can get a 128 gb im cool but what are you gonna do when you have to do a battery pull?

There is a button combo that will give you the equivalent. Other phones with nonremovable batteries do the same thing and they work fine.

I agree, swapping sd cards has always been extremely useful imo. I do love the new design and materials, not to mention the color options, very cool! Yeah the battery life has been superb on the Sammy devices but I personally like having the ability to pull the battery, sometimes a must for me when flashing rom's, kernels..etc.

I believe even now you can simulate a battery pull by holding pwr + vol dwn while the device is on, until it resets.
EDIT: Wrong Combo! Sorry!

Only pulls up the power options for me. Would be useful if this is true.

Nice! Thanks!
I have a spare battery for my Note 4, and swap them out regularly. I also enjoy having the added storage cheaper than internal. And the fact that you can have multiple SD cards is always a plus... I hope they dont do this with the next Note also. That would be a downgrade in my eyes.
looks nice, but a sealed battery is bad and no SD slot is a dealbreaker.
i really hope they don't try that with the Note 6.
held onto upgrade for this???
I don't like the battery thing, but i could live with that. I'm thinking the sd card though is a deal breaker......to think i've been sitting on my upgrade since october for the s6. the m9 looks nice.....sorta
doesnt the M9 offer the same BS as the s6 just a samsung?

I would think otherwise to a more informed and free thinking android community vs. brainwashed apple consumers...

ios users are retarded for just flat out accepting no sd cards. They should have *****ed up a storm, and maybe they would have sd cards. Boycott them and don't buy their products. I would never give Apple 1 cent of my money. And when I'm ready to upgrade to probably the note 6, if it does not have expandable storage Samsung will not get my money.
I think it looks good, sealed battery and no SD a deal breaker? For some it will be. I'll check it out and see how it looks and feels before I make a decision. Sealed battery is no biggie as you can buy an external battery pack. No SD card sucks but at least they offer it in larger capacities.
But, I'm waiting to see what LG comes out with in the G4.
