My money on this
What's wrong with the camera?
Never had such an amazing camera... videos are crisp, nightmode is out of this world, what could be fixed?
And then again, SamFirmware has been flaged as "unreliable" many times from what I read!
someone need to nuke the stupid owner of samfirmware .
ffs. stfu and stop posting ****
^-- trying to be calm here even :/
the statement on the samsfirmare twitter is soooooooo empty
no source, no additional info, no news, no nothing to back it up....
They could be trusted to quite an extend... they have been the source of alot of firmwares that many of us use now... let just wait and see what will pop up from Samsung..
Regarding the camera.. it seriously could be improved.. our photos taken are highly compressed which results in the lost of sharpness and I believe they know about this issue already..

And not having the option to turn off gps from within the camera application on froyo is a huge annoyance of mine.

I can post a tweet too, "Samsung is releasing a update to the Galaxy S to print real money"
woohoo!
I don't see the problem with the cam either.
I use stock app and camera zoom.
Camera zoom is a good program to take photo. You can also enabled geotagging in the program.
Sent from GT-I9000 Jpm OS kernel with z4mod
Geotagging feature is also not working quite reliable. They could fix that, too.
If you go near the ant, then you can't see nothing. Just blind. And I think they will fix it.
have you tried switching to macro mode?

Why should you disbelieve samfirmware? They have been a reliable source of information for a long time.
I don't recall any instance in which they spread false information. If they have, please enlighten me.
At least don't call them liars with no better evidence yourself.
That being said, I don't deny their financial motivations.
even if what they is real, do you really think samsung would be able to bring it out in time for beginning of November, due time for Froyo?
Rfs is not a problem. Check the performance charts. No one android device had better IO. The lag comes from another way. I hope they solve that.

Update: We've just received an official statement from Samsung on the matter:
"Samsung Mobile is aware that under certain conditions, the GPS on our U.S. Galaxy S devices may not be meeting performance expectations. We are diligently evaluating the situation and will provide an update as soon as possible."
hopefully media attention will prompt samsung to addressing it as timely as possible
Kind of sad this is what it takes to get them to fix something. I don't think it's been determined whether it's just a software glitch, or something more serious like hardware that requires a revision. Software can be pushed to the phone, where a new chip can't.

They're already aware. If you think Engadget posting this crap to their mobile site weeks after even THEY experienced their first issue with GPS is what it "takes" for Samsung to acknowledge the problem you're sadly mistaken. This is NO different from what they posted on Twitter
Am I the only one who hasn't had any issues to speak of with GPS?
The more media coverage, however late, this gets the better. Do you think apple would have moved so quickly on their "fix" were it not for the ridiculous media coverage?
I hope some more mainstream news outlets pick up on this. That might force more than a canned response from samsung.

i'm sure they are working on a fix. but they are working on 2.2, launching the epic, etc. as well. i'm fine waiting for a real fix, not some quickly hacked together patch that isn't properly tested.

I wasn't at first either, but then it started. Every device has the problem, just not 100% of the time.
It will be fixed very soon, though. This is Samsung's top priority right now.

no. I also didn't have issues with the GPS.
At least, not until I began thinking that I was just missing something and tried one of the "fixes" on my device. Now my GPS reception is noticeably worse than stock.

Try this...disable "use wireless networks" under "location and security"(this will let the phone use JUST the GPS receiver), then download and install Googles "My Tracks" app. Run that app while driving a long distance, and see just how accurate your GPS is.

I don't doubt that the issue exists, but I'm not going to go out of my way to experience it. I'm no masochist...
If the phone is using Wireless Networks for a location fix in your car the accuracy would be awful and noticeably off.

yes - especially if other media pick up on it, and verizon & sprint catch wind of it and actually test theirs before releasing - that would be the real pressure point on sammy
At least Samsung isn't saying this is our fault or round up a bunch of competitors' phones and say they have the same issues. The fact that they say they're evaluating the situation makes it sound like the fix isn't coming any time soon.

true, but nearly everyone knew the behold was a pile of crap from the get go.
the galaxy s is launching in over 100 countries, including every major carrier in the US. they are projected to sell over 10 million handsets. samsung lives or dies by this phone, IMO. i can understand frustration from their previous handsets, but if they drop the ball on the galaxy s, they might as well get out of the business all together.
Hey guys,
Here are the emails for some of the people responsible for the Samsung FW, as a community it might be worthwhile emailing said peoples and requesting nicely that they go to their higher ups and get the go ahead to fix the FS lag issue (RFS is bad ok!!!) and any other ongoing issues we are having.
If they receive a large amount of "interest", which I think they might, mayhaps they will reconsider rolling out the same polished turd of a system that exists in the 2.2 firmwares.
[email protected] - Madan Ankapura - Samsung Staff Engineer. Goto person for all technical issues related to Android within Samsung and interface for Google in the role of Technical Account Manager-Android.

Let them know about XDA, Voodoo, the problems as we know it, and demand they fix the damn thing! At least we've had a go right?
Good thinking, it's about time this was done...
Hopefully someone can write up a good email... there are too many things to say that I'm not entirely sure I could articulate it...
I hope this doesn't result in them getting flooded with spam, that sure wont help the situation.
I think we should get a nice detailed open letter, that gets sent to them and the tech news sites. Posting it on the news sites should help get more attention to this, if the tech sites don't ignore it.
Sites like Engadget, Phandroid ect.
Nice one! *gets typing*

So you know for absolute certainty that, if enough people ***** and moan very loudly, there's zero chance of Samsung doing anything? Sure the outlook is poor - this is Samsung after all - but that outlook won't change if people just accept that the SGS is slow and that the phone's performance will likely degrade over time because of their ****ty filesystem.
Btw, if the answer to the above question is a resounding 'yes', could I please borrow your crystal ball?
Which android phones have no lag? N1? Desire? What FS do 'they' run?
I still think that the memory management is also important to prevent lag, I have voodoo lag fix 3 installed, yea the quadrant better score from 900++ to 1200++, but i still facing lag here and there. Then later i found this autokiller software, turn on the agressive preset, immediately the phone work smoother, quadrant --> 1700++. So i think beside the file system io important, memory management is very critical as well.

+1 to Facebook.. its kinda public so theres bigger chance ull get some results..! instead of personal emails..
To get high impact, we could encourage some related/regional forums to take part.
So first someone at xda would write the letter, we discuss and maybe improve it, then some of us who are members in those forums translate (if needed) and propose it there.
Well if they won't budge over the improved technical merits of other file systems - I'm not sure if they're as superstitious there as they are in Japan, but it might actually give some weight if needed, to mention you think it's very unlucky to be running the phone on the filesystem of someone convicted of murdering his wife.

I generally set mine to check for updates automatically, and ask before installing . But most people I come across that do not update say " it's because I'm used to it the way it is" . They either do not want to have to learn something new, or they do not want to change the set up. They basically don't want to leave their comfort zone.
I've got mixed feelings about updates. I flash different versions so often I enevetably get the most current roms but I like to see a changelog first if I'm just at the my Apps screen. If there is nothing that makes me want to update then I stick with what I have for good reason. I hate Pandora now because it got worse with every update. Vplayer was once free but they snuck an expiration in with an update. Facebook has always been a hopes raiser and then a let down until this recent format they have now. It still sucks just not as bad. Tubemate and craigslist update so darn often I delete them until I need to use them. Figure that way it really feels like an update and I got to skip a few things they broke fixing something else.

Yeah tubemate has frequent updates, mostly because youtube is making it harder for them to download from it, and since it keeps getting removed from the market for youtube terms of service violations, every time there is an update, they change the apps internal name. This makes it install two different versions, and we have to go find the old one in settings and uninstall it, which is a pain. Oh well, the app is amazing enough to deserve it. It has had so many updates, that I've never had it not correctly work.

I would certainly like to know exactly what purpose the face book app has taking up 17mb on my precious dinc fresh off the market. I've seen it swell in excess of 40 mb with heavy use. Get outta here! It seems completely absurd and a bit arrogant of the Facebook corporation to clog up everyone's devices and hide god knows what kind of unpublished ill will in the code.
I wish someone would reverse engineer or whatever so we know why it is so big.

Now I want to ask you what can I do for him, because he doesn't want to sell it.
Can I flash the official firmware and ROM ? what about the rooting method ?
The phone is smaller than the real one, has the air gestures but they work only on the home and app screen(not in webpages, etc), is micro-sim also.
Also you can see from the pictures the result of Antutu Benchmark test and other pictures that may help you.

If its a knock off s4 you can't use ANY ROMs or mods that were designed for the s4. Its got different hardware so any s4 ROMs won't work and could brick it.
There likely aren't rooting methods available because there isn't a big developer following to create rooting methods.
The software it has now is the software the device will have forever.

He means the phone is forcing a fake score, not that you photo shopped the image and changed the numbers. A phone can manipulate benchmarking scores by over performing in the tested areas briefly, without giving any real world performance boosts.
Even TouchWiz does this.
Its one of many reasons why benchmark scores are utterly pointless and meaningless.
As for the device and what to do with it...again...you won't be able to modify it without figuring out how to root it and build custom roms for it yourself. There won't be any ready to go software for it. Use it as is and enjoy. Could make a great backup phone, or spare to use when you are going somewhere a more expensive phone might get broken. Because its a fake. Its not a great phone. Things don't work right on fakes. There is no way around this. No matter how much you try to convince yourself this thing is as good as a real s4 its not. Accept it and see the phone for what it is...a decent wifi device for web browsing.
Also I suggest not using any banking apps or going to bank websites on it because god only knows what the software is recording and sending to someone.
