I have a serious problem here, very very serious :/
Right, I downgraded to 1.5 Cupcake (where the Phone says its a Google Ion) and rooted my HTC Magic. I then wnated a ROM with Sense on it, so I installed a ported version of the HTC Hero ROM onto it. Everything worked perfectly fine except the fact that the phone was slightly slow and I didnt enjoy the browsing speeds. I then decided to reset my phone to the manufacturer defaults by following a HTC Guide over at the developer's section. This stated that I needed to flash a radio image before anything else could be done. I followed the instructions perfectly and everything worked until radio flashed and then the phone re-boots to the boot screen at which it just says MyTouch 3G with a green background. The phone does not pass this, it just stays on this screen and will not restart or anything. If I hold Back+Power/Home+Power/Volume Down+Power absolutely nothing happens, I just get the MyTouch 3G screen again. The Radio was designed for 1.5 Android Cupcake. I followed all instructions as stated, I can confirm nothing went wrong. I cannot access recovery or anything. I have a White HTC Magic branded Vodafone (Unlocked).
ALL HELP IS APPRECIATED! THANKYOU!

Hey Guys
New to the forums and happy to be here
Girlfriend bought a HTC Magic on ebay from an Aussie seller. Its second hand of course.
In great condition but noticed that it does not have the standard ROM on it. It has CyanogenMod 3.937 on it. My gf wants exactly what i have on my phone and that is the standard ROM. How do i do this?
For some reason also in the current rom i cant get into the market? it does not load up?
My gf just wants it on the standard ROM and how it would and should be factory defaulted when you first get it.
I have posted on another site that directed me here, one said i would be crazy to go back to stock and i should update it to a stable version and market and that should fine then.
What are peoples suggestions here?
If that makes sense?
Really would appreciate you guys help on this!!!!
Thanks guys
Mmmm if you have the same Magic (both has the 32A or 32B for example) I think you can try to root your phone, make a wipe and then a nandroid backup, after that, copy the nandroid backup to the SD card of your girlfriend, and in her Magic do a Wipe and then a nandroid Restore... That should leave you both with the same rom I think...
Remember that you need to have the same magic (32A the both or 32B)... Do not try to do it with a 32A and a 32B (different magics)...
Very simple, go to www.htc.com, create an account for e-support, register the Magic (serial number is used).
Then download a ROM image from the HTC site, using the serial of the phone.
Instructions are included when running the .exe file from HTC.
This will restore to the ROM originally shipped with that phone.
Alternatively, you can enter YOUR serial, download the ROM from HTC for your phone, and install that one.
Just make sure if you do the seconf one that your gf phone is exactly the same (32A/32B) as yours.

when you're not sure what's going on, asap is probably not going to happen.
give her your phone instead and then you can take your time to learn what's what with customising these phones.
to work out which phone you have (32A or 32B) power off the phone and turn it back on by holding down the power button and the back arrow key.
you'll get a screen showing three androids on skateboards.
at the top will be a bunch of info beginning with something like sapphire pvt 32b eng s-off g and finishing with a time stamp.
write down all of the info for both phones and post it in here.
then people can advise you on which phones you have.
EDIT: you can read up on some more info here...
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Sapphire
I see you are on Vodafone.
This is for some reason not downloadbale from HTC site.
So I suggest you read this thread to restore the original ROM.
It is tricky, since you will need to use Nandroid backup/restore.
Note, you can also backup your ROM this way and restore to you GF phone, but that involves modding your phone aswell.
So, if you are from AU, this is the thread to read:

Ok after reading that I can go back to default RUU. I used the panache RUU, then tried visionary, didn't work.
Then I tried gingerbreak and it gave me error telling me to manualy reboot to check if SU is there. I rebooted removing battery..... And vola... super user was installed.I got rooted. Just installed Rom manager to flash recovery and all is fine.

Could you please point me to the HTC Panache RUU file... I've searched all over, but cant seem to find it... My girls MT4G was stock, and got the TMO Gingerbread OTA. It soft bricked her phone (I can go into bootloader, fastboot, & when i attempt to power on, I get as far as the MyTouch 4G splash screen). Since it didn't have a custom recovery & was S-On, I'm pretty much stuck. I figure if at least this flashes, root, or no root, the phone will be functional again.. Please help...

So you are saying she had a stock unrooted MT4G, and the OTA bricked her phone? Strange.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=16646127#post16646127
The RUU files for Mobilicity and Videotron are linked there. You might need a Gold Card to install, since the CID is different.
But overall, if the OTA bricked her S-ON device, I wonder if she just has the bad eMMC... and she was unlucky enough to discover that upon receiving an OTA.
The Dropbox link for Panache RUU doesn't work anymore. I've been looking for it but didn't find any.
How about the FileFactory link for the Mobilicity RUU?

That's nice of you but you don't have to offer anything on return. There's plenty of us that will help you out with no needed incentives.
But to answer your question, can you still get into your bootloader? Take battery off and put it back in. Then hold down Volume Down+Power button. If so, then all isn't lost. You can try to use the stock PD15IMG.zip for the Panache to put it back to stock.

Idk how to do that. I shouldn't of messed with it now the phone is useless. Cause these asians asking for 80$ at mall but its to much
The problem here is that the op tried rooting the panache the same way they rooted theirs friends mytouch 4g. Problem with this is that the panache come with gingerbread already. So they will have to downgrade.
I figured these steps will downgrade their panache with the stock US 2.2.
febycv said:
To make the process very simple, try this method.
Just follow this steps for an error free downgrade.
1. Download the rom here.
2. Rename it to PD15IMG.zip
2. Place it on the root of your sd card.
3. Switch On your phone while holding the Power button & the down volume button.
4. The hboot menu will update your phone (do according to the hboot instructions).
The original bootloader is 0.86.0000
Now reboot & enjoy your update......This is the original T-mobile 2.2.1 version....so no worries.....

Those steps wont work. You need the instructions on the G2 section. I'm on my phone so I can't link, but its in there. You meed to downgrade back to froyo. ADB is also required. So hopefully you know how to do that.

If you are using the Panache, you should be doing this guide.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16858971&postcount=98
It sounds to me like you need a gold card to downgrade your panache to the old android software. Too bad in order to make a gold card you need access to the panache to push the PD15IMG.zip into the card... You can always ask around to see if anyone in your area has a gold card for the panache u can borrow in order to fix your phone.
She is doing this guide. Actually, I've temp-rooted her phone and "updated" the MISC partition for downgrade, but she didn't have a card reader ready for making a goldcard, and the next day she already managed to reboot her phone and get stuck. So the only thing she needs is a goldcard.
The problem currently is getting CID out of this phone, I'm not sure stock bootloader shows it, and it's required for goldcard. If anyone knows Panache's CID - please share. If not - Panache RUU will be required to return to stock, but there is not a single link on the net now. So if anyone has it - please share, too.
Make a gold card for her using this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=970157 ? If you have the panache just insert a 1 gig card into the phone and enable disc mode.
1) Format it first
2) Click MMC2 and click get CID
3) Click on the website on the lower part and paste the CID number onto the form
4) go to email download image
5) Load the image and patch it and you'll have a semi ready gold card.
6) Put the phone back in charge/debug mode and push the PD15img.zip file through and it should revert it to mytouch4g stock.
Ps. I just rooted my panache two days ago and Im successfully running VU rom.
The problem with this guide is that it doesn't explicitly say that the phone needs to be fully booted into Android and with USB debugging enabled - but it needs to be. So if the phone doesn't boot, this guide is worthless. See the method this guide is referring to for getting CID out of the phone, and you'll understand.
In any case, the problem is fixed (or actually, there was no problem), the phone is booting. Hopefully, everything will remain ok.
Yea. The last time I gtalked her she was able to boot into the device. Also she did tell me when trying to flash the stock 2.2 unrooted rom from hboot
She did mention something about CID. Hope she can figure out. I don't use adb because I can't get it to ever work on none of the pc's I use so I don't know adb yet. So I won't be able to help her in that part.

Hi guys! My myTouch 4G was stuck on the welcome screen ("T-Mobile MyTouch" on white background screen), and accessing bootloader and flashing the 2.3.4 version of the ROM that one of your contributors (Football) pointed to in filefactory (PD15IMG_Glacier_Gingerbread_S_TMOUS_2.32.531.1_Radio_12.62.60.27_26.13.04.19_M_release_227522_signed.zip) fixed the problem. However, since the phone was sluggish after it came back to life, I tried to reflash the above ROM into it, and that did not work -- the phone recognizes the PD15IMG.zip file and starts the process, but it freezes on the first step after I say "yes" to updating. I'm thinking that may be b/c it can't "update" to the same version of the ROM. With that in mind, IS THERE A NEWER VERSION OF THE ROM for this phone to which I can try to update? I've been searching all over this site, but could not find one. The only thing working on the phone right now is the bootloader, and I still have 5 months left on my contract, with no insurance Any help will be appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
Marco
The only problem with the version would be if it were older. There should be no problem installing the same version as is on your device.

Ok, so a friend gave me his HTC Panache and I was planning on using it as a spare phone (or probably as my second line) and was poking around if I could root it. I was reading around XDA and found a way to root. However, there isn't any warning anywhere saying that the Mobilicity/Videotron Panache is significantly different from the myTouch 4G itself. I could have possibly borked this phone. It was still able to boot previously, but at a point it just hanged and started boot looping until the mobilicity logo and back to the htc logo...
so, I did a better search and found someone saying trying the factory reset option from fastboot... so I did.. however, it just got stuck on fastboot when I select factory reset, now it just stays on the htc logo (doesn't even show the mobilicity logo anymore) to no avail.
Any ideas? I'm not new to the htc land, I still have an HTC Desire Z (Vision) probably dicked around it and almost bricked it, but it is still up and running till now. What I'm new at is that this thing just won't do anything I try to make it do. :/ possibly a dead phone by now. But I suppose I could flash the stock image and get it back since fastboot still works... But I can't find the damn mobilicity stock rom... :/
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
EDIT: Ok, so I did find the Mobilicity STOCK RUU... HOwever, hboot doesn't seem to flash it... It's been stuck in trying to update the bootloader... For TWO HOURS, TWICE! I don't know what to do now... And with enough views already on this thread and no response... maybe I should give up and shelve the thing... It's sad, but resources for this phone is outdated and insufficient. The mytouch 4G is fine, however, the panache, just lacks documentation.
You should read the stickies and/or Google search using the failure description. Hard to believe you'd get past the most known failure of this phone in any of its variants.
In any case, if RUU is stuck updating bootloader - your phone is dead.
Have you tried the Panache thread here on xda? Panache users might be able to help you.

Nope, chip is dead. Not even Jtag can save it, according to the technician whom I brought the phone to. The phone was prone to chip failure, and a small bad flash killed it.It isn't as resilient as other phones.
