FYI: Broken G1+$130=G2!! - G2 and Desire Z General

The G1 is not in production and I guess their out of refurbs so Asurion will replace it with a G2, it does take awhile, they seem to be on perpetual backorder.

It take awhile before they can build up on refurbished units since the G2 is still kindav new. Just guessing

Yeah brand spankin new G2s, no contract extension also free next day shipping if you complete your claim online.

they offered my a mytouch slide...ewww

Wow, that's a sweet deal. I wonder if they'd give me a MTHD for my MT3G? Doubt it, lol.

I was offered the mts or G2, they misfiled my wife's claim and tried to give her a mts for $90 but they straightened it out on the phone, her G2 is in route. IDK....Use the force?

My G1 was still under warranty and Tmo sent me a G1. I was surprised to say the least.

Alright to clearify things, Asurion is out of G1s so they will offer you what they can get w/keyboard that seems to be mts or G2, there is a difference in deductable $90 or $130 so I don't think cost is a factor, but availability probably is, so you may have to speak up and tell them your willing to wait for a G2. I waited 3 or 4 business days, before the commercials dropped. My wife has been waiting about 1 week and we expect hers to ship tomarrow or tues.
Again to clearify, you have to be outside OEM warranty to use Asurion I think.

Cheapest EVO

Where can I find the cheapest EVO? I have two, but I want to find one for my mom and stepdad, but want to get a good deal. Any suggestions?
You'll be lucky if you can even find an EVO. Just Saying...
I was going to post a link to a $199 price to be an ass...but I found this:
http://www.letstalk.com/samsung-intercept-gray-sprint?
Not an evo, but a $5 epic is pretty interesting.
Edit-oops...intercept is the moment2, isn't it? So much for that.

They tried like hell to sell my brother in law that piece of crap. Lucky for him he called me first and I set him straight. I mean you will be able to get an Epic in about 30 days who would buy that. OK back on topic.
No cheap EVO's good luck.
Damn it man I guess I gotta keep pressuring the local BBM.
The best deal out there is 199 with out having to pay the rebate upfront. This is going to be from a Radioshack or a Best buy. Good luck finding one though, took me 5 weeks.

My boss was at a Sprint store today and said they had plenty in stock there. Granted he may of been mistaken, I was not there to verify myself.
Have you tried craigslist, ebay from a actual store or wirefly. Locally i'm hearing bestbuy some of there phones are refurbished (brought into Sprint to find the Evo had assurion insurance from last customer}

When I worked for a Sprint store, we advised people against buying from non-Sprint sources such as RadioShack and BestBuy for this reason amongst others.

[TIP] G2 is on sale today. T-mobile rufunded me $150.

This applies to anyone that has purchased a G2 in the last couple weeks. The G2 is on sale on T-mobile's website for $49.99. I purchased mine last Sunday and it was delivered last Wednesday. I called 611 and said "speak to an agent about billing." First I talked to a representative who told me that a price match was impossible and the company had no way to give me money back. She said her internet "did not upload" so she could not navigate to the company website and see the promotion. I laughed and asked for a supervisor so she transferred me to an extremely friendly girl with much better call quality. I was only expecting a credit but she refunded the money to my card. Unfortunately the refund is going to take two weeks, but how great of a deal is the G2 at $49.99? I was on the fence about returning it for the Nexus S, which was announced the day after I bought the G2. I really want to use the $30 prepaid plan since I have wifi 90% of the time. Now I can cancel in a few months and pay the $200 ETF. G2 without a contract for $250 and a $30 per month phone bill.
Well its a good thing I got mine for $0 on the cyber Monday sale they had

Lol! That's coming from a guy from Puerto Rico... Seriously though, its because they are more dificult to understand and generally its due to being outsourced to some call center in India with no clue what's going on. Heck, we are all immigrants in the US but learning how to speak the native tongue correctly seems less relevant these days and that goes for the 5th or 15th generation immigrants too... sad

It's not about the accent, it's more about the cause behind it.
If you call a tech support representative in Puerto Rico and he speaks with a heavy American accent, and isn't that great with Spanish (as it's his second language) and he has trouble understanding you, then you will see what you are getting at. Unfortunately the USA is so cheap that they would rather pay Jamal $0.50/hour than Earl $8/hour. So we have comprehension problems and they absolutely suck. When we call support and hear an accent (and usually a middle-eastern one) we fear that they won't understand us due to the language barrier.
I used to do 3rd-Tier Technical Support for cell phones a few years ago and you have no idea how many people were surprised to have a native English speaker telling them what to do. I always understood what they said, and they always understood me. The same can not always be said about non-native English speakers.

Haha you guys are all noobs! I got mine for under $200 without a contract or rebate. You just gotta know how to work the system...
Call center experiences can be poor but not all outsourced reps are bad. I've worked in lots of call centers too and when people ***** and moan about people in India or the Philippines I politely let them know I'm a visual minority... Filipino as well. You wouldn't believe how embarrassed they feel afterwards.
Usually if you give them the time of day they'll do a much better job than lazy buggers in North American call centers. Outsourcing doesn't always mean poor quality.

I think it was a short lived sale. I did see it advertised for free on contract earlier this week as well but I think that was on Amazon. If anyone's interested, T-mobile confirmed that as soon as my return period is up, I can switch to the EM+ plan and pay the $200 ETF, making this phone $250 off contract.

This one I have now is my 4th phone I rooted this one from the gate, as soon as I activated I sat down at the PC and put Fresh 2.4 on it A week later I was on CM6, funny the other day I was doing some PRL and radio stuff and used Fresh 2.4 to do it. I ended up flashing Deca's latest kernel out of curiosity, it gave this rom a new life Might stay with it until GB is ready

RadioShack is now $99 dollars with no trade in as long as you order it online. just a heads up.
Early upgrades? My sister was able to bash the hell out of her Blackberry 8830 or w/e over the phone with Sprint, and they sent her the newest Blackberry model for free and took $15 off our monthly bill for the remainder of our contract.
I tried calling Sprint last night to get my phone swapped with a LG Optimus S, only to be told I would have to use my insurance to get it. I told him all the problems I was having (random rebooting, phone taking too long to connect a call, dust under screen, unresponsive presses to wake it up, freezing), which are apparently a widespread problem with the Hero model. After being told to use my insurance, I told the guy that I bought the insurance in case I damaged the phone, not to get a phone that is not defective. Any tips to getting swapped to a different model? I've heard people getting swapped Evo's
I had a agent tell me a couple months back that with the insurance you can switch phones when making a claim. I dont know if she was just trying to sell me some insurance, or if that is true. Last time I had insurance was with my Instinct, it was a $50 deductible. Funny when I broke my Instinct the deductible had just went up to $100 a week earlier, I was never informed though Long story short sprint paid for it, I had a new Instinct 2 days later.
Yeah I went from one lame azz phone to another lame azz phone, just what I wanted! From a sry Instinct to a sry Hero

Yeah I'm calling Sprint back tonight, and possibly going to have my sister call them. I'm going to keep calling them until I get a different phone >.< What makes me mad though, is the first rep I talked to before getting switched to Multiple Phone Exchange (something like that) told me that she was able to get someone who had a Hero and the same problems as I had switched to a LG Optimus S, a few hours before I called. I had also asked her if I could switch to an Evo and pay the difference of $20, and she said "that's not the way it works"

I worked for radioshack for 3 years. I deeply loathe that place. Please people don't buy your phones at radioshack. Its all they care about and those prices are so low because district managers pressure associates into not selling phones unless you get accessories with it. Don't believe me? Go ahead and try it. I guarantee you the salesman will turn you away not sell you the handset if you don't get something alongside with it.
Bottom line. Get your phones online. I bought both of my epics back in november for 100? If im not mistaken off of letstalk.com. amazon normally has awesome deals too. Save yourself the hassle of being hassled and don't put money into these corporate pigs pockets.

Yes. The guy at my local radio shack was pushing me towards an Evo. Boo! he said there was no other phone in its class. I said what about the epic? And he just kinda scoffed and said it was a decent phone.

It bad. You get harassed and your job threatened everyday. Your NEVER good enough in that place. For those interested or want to work there this is what you will experience.
Radioshack gets angry if you don't sell they're quota of phones a day. If you sell your phone by itself they get angry. I you sell a phone with accessories (and they have a minimum like 20-40 bucks), cool. Now did you get the warranty? No? Your not good enough. Here's a write up. I remember when the i4 came out and they said it was mandatory to sell the 70$ applecare with it. Lol. Oh and don't forget about the plethora of other **** you gotta do there besides earn commission selling cell phones. Which is essentially the only real way to make money there.

jeez, I've never had an issue buying a phone at radio shack. I've never bought accessories there and they just seemed happy I was getting a phone.
Lovely.. i'm within 30 days.. now I get to see if i can get best buy to price match/guarantee, or return it (stupid restocking fee) and get it for $100 cheaper.. if it was $20-40 difference I wouldn't bother, but $100.. that's worth some time to get my money back.

[Q] Where should I sell my Evo

Okay so after much debate I'm looking to Upgrade to the Evo 3D. Really, after going to my local radio shack, they informed me that Sprint will allow me to upgrade early (only for a limited time) and therefore I can get the Evo 3D. In addition, they said I could sell them back My Evo and I could get up to $150 back. So my question is, should I sell it back to them, or would I get even more money if I went and sold it someplace else like Ebay?

I'd try craigslist. They seem to be going for $175-200. my brother sold his just the other day (upgraded to a 3D) for 175 cash on craigslist.
Your best bet would be ebay or Craigslist, but be prepared to wait a while for it to sell unless you sell it with plenty of accessories. The flood of EVO4Gs on ebay is pretty crazy, also try wireless toyz.

Okay...sorry to sound a little naive, but how would you go about selling it on Criagslist, I never sold anything on there before. Also...at what point should I have it deactivated? I'm just wondering because I'm thinking of the process.
1. Buy EVO 3D (still end up paying $200 upfront)
2. Sell HTC EVo (reimburse myself with whatever I made from the sell)
or
1. Sell HTC Evo to radioshack
2. Buy EVO 3D, only end up paying about $50 upfront.
Well Craigslist is pretty easy, you just go to like post or something, I haven't done it in a while but be sure to post pictures along with it, and a way to contact you.

Well the guy just said, until the 31st of this month, sprint will allow to push your upgrade date. I don't know if that applies to phones other than the 3D
Well sprint isn't very generous when it comes to upgrades, especially two yr upgrades, but I know they usually give you a two week advance of any upgrades, they tried doing this to me when I moved from a hero to my EVO a couple of weeks ago but I bought my EVO from a friend for 120. Saving my upgrade for the next best thing after this whole 3vo thing gets better and more stable.
