Cheapest EVO - EVO 4G General

Where can I find the cheapest EVO? I have two, but I want to find one for my mom and stepdad, but want to get a good deal. Any suggestions?

You'll be lucky if you can even find an EVO. Just Saying...

I was going to post a link to a $199 price to be an ass...but I found this:
http://www.letstalk.com/samsung-intercept-gray-sprint?
Not an evo, but a $5 epic is pretty interesting.
Edit-oops...intercept is the moment2, isn't it? So much for that.

They tried like hell to sell my brother in law that piece of crap. Lucky for him he called me first and I set him straight. I mean you will be able to get an Epic in about 30 days who would buy that. OK back on topic.
No cheap EVO's good luck.

Damn it man I guess I gotta keep pressuring the local BBM.

The best deal out there is 199 with out having to pay the rebate upfront. This is going to be from a Radioshack or a Best buy. Good luck finding one though, took me 5 weeks.

My boss was at a Sprint store today and said they had plenty in stock there. Granted he may of been mistaken, I was not there to verify myself.

Have you tried craigslist, ebay from a actual store or wirefly. Locally i'm hearing bestbuy some of there phones are refurbished (brought into Sprint to find the Evo had assurion insurance from last customer}

Got mine for 150 each on sprints corporate discounts

When I worked for a Sprint store, we advised people against buying from non-Sprint sources such as RadioShack and BestBuy for this reason amongst others.

to preorder and i would guess very little more
at sprint we are only taking new accounts and upgrades no outright purchases from what i was told. and i heard radioshack is doing the same.
Just got back from my local Sprint store and was assured that I could purchase for full retail. $475 after tax. I just have to get there when they open at 7 on the 4th.

would be quite dissapointing if you get there and thats not true. us employees in florida have a evo meeting on the 28th to tell us how its going down, so im sticking with that.
I can't see sprint telling people I don't want upfront $450+ from anyone because I would rather sell it for $199.
i can see them saying hey i rather not sell it to you because your stuck on contract with us anyways, and say hey i want you guys to upgrade and stay with us and hey i want new customers.

Well 3 employees, including the manager, all confirmed it, so I'm pretty confident. I would make a scene if they refused to sell it to me after telling me to my face that they would, and since I've been with them for 8 years, so I think I would get my phone instantly.
At Radioshack you definitely can buy it outright. It is $499.99, but there is a trade in program, so you can bring in your old phone and put that trade in toward the purchase, making it cheaper than a Sprint corporate store.

I'm selling my Hero on eBay, where I will get about $200 for it. RadioShack will give you about $85. Tough choice.
i got my evo preorder from a radioshack manager who gave me his word he will refund my deposit if the radio shack full retail price is more than the sprint price. he even wrote it down and signed it, and said he would be there on june 4.
i will bring a copy of the sprint evo flier in on june 4, hopefully i can just get him to price match.

Benefits of buying at Full price ?
Help me understand...
Why would you want to pay $499 for a phone that
Question-1: What are the benefits of buying an Evo full price?
Question-2: Wouldn't Sprint still force you to upgrade to the Everything Data plan AND also charge you the $10 per month per Evo on the account?
I would be willing to consider paying full price if I can justify a Return-On-Investment starting after "X" months
Thanks...

Those of us buying the phone for full retail already have Sprint contracts but are not eligible for upgrades at the time of the EVO's release.

Evo Best Buy Price?

Alright Guys and Gals, I've searched high and low and I still cannot find an answer...
Does anybody know if Sprint's $449.00 or so Full Retail Price is the same at Best Buy? Or is it higher?
The Best Buy full retail is $600. RadioShack is $500.
Best Buy told me that they will not price match it.
It's a shame....
since sprint is the only one that has the $450 price tag, has anyone tried to buy an off contract device from sprint? I have a feeling that I will not find a sprint store that will sell it off- contract right away or they are out of stock. So I hope I can order it from sprint's website and have it overnighted to my house.

I'm afraid it's true my friend.

I was shocked too and didn't want to believe it at first. I went to the Best Buy where I had pre-ordered and asked. they told me it would be somewhere between $600-$700 full price.
The good news is that you should be able to get a refund. I was able to, after I told them that I had since found out that I was not eligible for an upgrade.
If you want to pre-order at Radio Shack you had better hurry (if you're in a big city) because they are sold out of pre-order gift cards here in Austin.
I've decided to get in line at the Sprint store. Verrrrrry early in the morning, if not the night before!

If it wasn't for your "heads-up" about the overpriced Best Buy pre-order in your thread a while back, I would have had a nasty surprise on the 4th!

Thanks! The Best Buy thing surprised me too, but after I found out that they still charge $600 for the Hero and $630 for the Moment it quickly became obvious. For anyone wondering, they will give you a full refund. Just go in and tell them that you didn't know they were going to mark up the price when you pre-ordered. I paid with debit, and they gave me back my full $50+tax in cash.

Best place to Upgrade to EVO?

I've currently got a Hero CDMA and I am looking at picking up the EVO 4G today.
Curious to know if anyone can recommend the cheapest places to upgrade. It looks like Sprint direct will get me at $199 after a mail in rebate, but Best Buy also says $199 and doesn't mention a rebate at all.
Any other suggestions? I am thinking Best Buy is my best bet.
Check at Radio Shack, also AMAZON

Do it at Best Buy for sure. They make the mail in rebate instant, so what the price tag says is what you pay in the store. Much more convenient than having to deal with the mail in rebate.
Radio Shack matched the $199 in store. I'd do Amazon but I'm not looking to mail order.
I'll probably pick it up at Best Buy in a few hours...time to start researching the good roms for a new platform.
Go with best buy.....but keep saying no to their insurance ....they tell you they replace it on the spot, then when you do need a new phone they tell you they need to mail it out.....hasn't happened to me personally but I have read about too many best buy insurance horror stories to ever go with that...I would stick with sprints TEP

I worked for radioshack for 3 years. I deeply loathe that place. Please people don't buy your phones at radioshack. Its all they care about and those prices are so low because district managers pressure associates into not selling phones unless you get accessories with it. Don't believe me? Go ahead and try it. I guarantee you the salesman will turn you away not sell you the handset if you don't get something alongside with it.
Bottom line. Get your phones online. I bought both of my epics back in november for 100? If im not mistaken off of letstalk.com. amazon normally has awesome deals too. Save yourself the hassle of being hassled and don't put money into these corporate pigs pockets.

This looks like a good deal! but what are the chances of a new EPIC2 or a better QWERTY smartphone coming out very soon?!
Yes. The guy at my local radio shack was pushing me towards an Evo. Boo! he said there was no other phone in its class. I said what about the epic? And he just kinda scoffed and said it was a decent phone.

It bad. You get harassed and your job threatened everyday. Your NEVER good enough in that place. For those interested or want to work there this is what you will experience.
Radioshack gets angry if you don't sell they're quota of phones a day. If you sell your phone by itself they get angry. I you sell a phone with accessories (and they have a minimum like 20-40 bucks), cool. Now did you get the warranty? No? Your not good enough. Here's a write up. I remember when the i4 came out and they said it was mandatory to sell the 70$ applecare with it. Lol. Oh and don't forget about the plethora of other **** you gotta do there besides earn commission selling cell phones. Which is essentially the only real way to make money there.

jeez, I've never had an issue buying a phone at radio shack. I've never bought accessories there and they just seemed happy I was getting a phone.
Lovely.. i'm within 30 days.. now I get to see if i can get best buy to price match/guarantee, or return it (stupid restocking fee) and get it for $100 cheaper.. if it was $20-40 difference I wouldn't bother, but $100.. that's worth some time to get my money back.

Best or Cheapest place to buy a new epic 4g?

My brother is due for an upgrade and he's new to android. I think the phone will be great for him. So I was wondering where is the best place to buy an epic? I'm looking in terms of price and deals. So far, the best deal I found was at radio shack where I can get one for $49 + tax w/ contract after trading any old working phone.

Talked to two different radio shack stores just now. The first store that I called said that its for new contracts only. The second one I called said that upgrades were indeed eligible for the offer, and the first store I called didn't know what they were talking about. She even went on to say that she just recently did the same offer for an upgrading customer...so I don't know what to believe.

Don't hate the company because you left them or were terminated. Yes they do give a lot for iphone trade in but there is never a price drop for the iphone either. As far as love for other phones. A $100 trade in towards the epic to bring it down to $50 is pretty good. Love them our hate them you still get some of the best prices out there and employees who will go that extra mile for you instead of just clerking you out.

....Buuuuut...went to my local radioshack store. She took my cheap $20 virgin mobile phone, and rang up the epic under my brother's line. Kept ringing up to $198 after a couple tries, then she did something with the computer and it rang up to $98 after taxes...
