[Q] Clockwork Recovery Issue - Vibrant General

Ok so I flashed the new Froyo ROM(The Mapped one) to my vibrant, and then I used clockwork to restore to R3 Froyo back up. Now my system will not boot past the Vibrant/Galaxy load screen. I noticed before that I was able to get into the clockwork recovery from the base recovery system, but I think the update.zip to boot is gone.
What I am trying to figure it is if there is any way to access the internal memory through the regular recovery to replace the update.zip file so I can wipe and redo the back up rom.

Ok so NOW I think Im bricked, my phone is showing a Phone symbol followed by an yellow triangle with a "!" inside the middle then a PC symbol.

Sorry guys, I found a good thread informing me of how to undo what was wrong by flashing the OEM Firmware through Odin. With the PDA symbols on your system, I pulled the battery out and disconnect the phone and plugged the phone back in. Once you plug the phone in, it will automatically boot up so I just held the power button for a second and held the volume buttons in and manage to get into download mode to flash the odin firmware.

today i messsed my phone up, and now it well turn on and you see the m and then it goes off and it will also enter recovery sceen. i reflashed the spf and it still does not work. it will go to the motorola symbol and then flashes and then restarts it will not going to the little att animation or anything. please help
If you are getting to the recovery screen have you tried a reset from there? Is it stock recovery?
Seems like you messed up running my scripts. Power off your phone, remove your SD card, power back on, you should be okay.
yes it is the stock recovery and i removed my sd card and it is still doing it, i performed at least 10 data wipes and its still doing it
Recovery isn't what you want, it won't do anything useful for this. Get to the bootloader (hold the up arrow while turning on the phone) then use RSD Lite or sbf_flash to flash with the stock SBF.
Relax, everything will be okay.
i did that, i just ended up calling and there sending me a replacement

Bricked vibrant after 2.2 update now not working at all

My vibrant will not work right at all at first it did now all it does when i turn it on after start up and it staying on the galaxy s screen for what seems forever. It then seems to load the home screen which is only showing a black screen and the top status bar and nothing else and keeps restarting it self and never shows the home screen at all and i pull the battery and it keeps doing the same thing over and over again. And after it does this i goes to a total black screen and the keys light up and then starts all over again. How can i fix this or is my phone now bricked thanks to the 2.2 update?
Power your phone off
Plug USB into PC
Hold down on the Volume Buttons (both of them)
Plug the usb into the phone
Then read up on this thread and ODIN back to stock
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=848737
Your just stuck in a boot loop .. if you cant get to download mode as described above ..pull everything out Sim, Battery, sdcard, Plug usb into pc, hold down volume keys, plug usb into phone, put battery in...should be in download mode, let go of volume keys
The thread title, Bricked vibrant after 2.2 update now not working at all, is misleading when referring to being stuck in a boot loop.
The above steps will get you out of your boot loop.
Same thing happened to me. I fixed it by wiping data in recovery mode and rebooting.
You shouldn't even need to odin for that, just reflash the last rom in cwm.

How is he gonna do that bootlooped & stock...nothing in his post abt having cwm recovery
Sent from Bionix V powered Vibrant
there is a chance if you installed clockwork rom recovery before ,m just (vol up vol down + power(let go after 5sec) it will take u in to recovery if u had it installed before no need to odin if so if u didnt have clockwork installed before its time to boot odin 1.7 and load thoise files u are without any choice if so , you could also just wipe cache parition and factory reset from stock recovery i doubt it will help u give it a shot before tearin this phone with odin

[Q] Bricked Iconia...

I guess I bricked my iconia...
I installed Recovery, etc. But when I rebooted my device it starts up, and shows my initial display screen. But it locks on the display (it is past the Android, and Acer screen).
So I tried to recover the device using the unbrick procedures described in this forum, and others. But it seems whenever it tries to process any update.zip file including the unbrick the little android man either stops turning or displays a sign indicating things did not work out as they should have.
I have clockwordmod backup from my system. How do I use that backup? When I use my phone the device automatically boots into xrecovery and allows me to restore. How do I get that with the Iconia?
first of all your device is not bricked as long as you can boot into any type of recovery.
second you obviously have cwm installed, but anyhow even if you don't have it i hope you have an external sd-card.
dl any of the stock rom's from the dev section, basically best is to choose the rom made for your country.
extract the update.zip and put it on your external sd-card.
then install it with cwm if you still have it, or with acer recovery (volume - and power simultaneously until the recovery text shows up).
and then take it from there.
also good idea is to clean dalvik cache and data cache before restarting if you use cwm.
then you can reinstall root and cwm.

Thanks... The problem is I can't boot into anything.
How do I boot into cwm? I can't boot into the operating system as once it hits the display screen with my picture the system freezes and tries to power down?
I have been playing around with acer recovery, but all of the updates I downloaded will not load onto the system. It tries to install, gets about 1/3 through and then gives me an error.
Hence why I was thinking that maybe my backup has something?
push volume - (left volume button) first and power and keep your fingers on it until it displays the recovery text message on top left of the screen
If you are getting into recovery. And flashing. A rom give you errors or does not complete. This issue is a bad d/load.or a bad currupt SD card.I would say format your SD card again.redownload the correct rom again.don't use a download manager.then decrypt. Unzip then put the update.zip on your SD card turn off your tab install SD card.
Reboot
Holding down volume up and power until you see the 4th line of txt. It should take you to cwr. Or flash your device
good luck
Yep.. use vol-down and power to boot into cwm. Keep holding vol-down until you see tiny white text in upper left corner.
Then do full restore. When it's done, if you don't see "Backup Succesfull!" message, you'll need to restore flexrom from the advanced restore menu. This is because it failed trying to restore .android_secure.img and caused cwm to restart before flextrom was restored.
Alternatively, you can delete the .android_secure.img file from your backup set before doing the full restore.
Good luck.

Thanks guys for all of your feedback.
However, when I hold down the buttons you mentioned I do get those text items you mention. The problem is that unlike my android phone it does not pop up the recovery menu. It goes straight into the Acer Recovery procedure (The android with turning gears).
Could it have been that upgrading to a specific ROM the recovery procedure is shortcircuited????
What I am trying to figure out is how to get the recovery menu.
Same deal!
I have the exact same issue. The Update.zip will not take and the Android Gears screen gets to 1/3 before the yellow triangle. Any further help would yield loud THANKS!
your update.zip should preferably be those 3.1 full. cos I believe it does not check anything for it to fail.
Thanks Kenny that does help and explain a few things.

Bricked and won't boot following attempted Samsung update (16GB Wifi Retail)

A message popped up from Samsung to install an update (I had been pressing cancel for the past week on this update). It says click OK to reboot and apply update (something along those lines) so I do. Now I am stuck with a tablet that won't boot. If I hold the power button it says "Samsung Galaxy 10.1" after about 12 seconds, but then it goes away and back to darkness. Nothing else. Holding power and volume up does nothing.
Someone know what is going on and have any idea how to resolve?
The best way is to restore any backup you have from cwm recovery. Else grab a stock firmware and flash it with ODIN or if zip than CWM recovery. For luck, try clearing cache and data in recovery, first!Perhaps it may work saving you all fuss of flashing a firmware.
I cannot even boot that far too get into recovery. And I just noticed that although I can't boot, the backlight is on (on a solid black screen).... wtf
You can't hold volume down and power button to enter recovery?
Nope. I plugged into my computer and for some reason with the USB connectd it let me enter recovery. Flashed a backup and rebooted, but now I have no wifi... im confused.
it occured once to me when i tried to overclock, it never worked except when installing a new rom... Try to root the device and then install a new rom
OK, was a helluva night messing with ROM and kernel installs... I have yet to go back to completely stock (that's next up tonight, unfortunately), but I installed Starburst ROM and the Wifi still didn't work so I then installed pershoot's kernel and now when I boot the screen is extremely distorted kind of like this: http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTsKa5IoQxnesGdUjykWDDggoQZ38yZ2VXSgPAQ09NOCnETzl9-
As a side note, when I say the wifi is not working, it still shows all networks and allows me to connect just like normal. However when connected no apps can access the network...
Can someone point me to a thread on how to revert EVERYTHING back to stock so I can start fresh? TIA!!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1171089
Should have all the files you need. From where you are now I would flash the stock OTA 3.1 or TW then flash the stock recovery and do a factory reset from that recovery. That should get rid of the garbled screen.
Thanks buddy. On my way to grab the files now
I heard the update was pulled as it sometimes rewrites the bootloader improperly. You might need to send it in, unfortunately.

Potentially hard bricked Note 3

Hello All -
My wife got a new S7 Edge, so I thought I would update from my N2 to her N3.
I originally rooted it before the bootloader got locked down, flashed a stock modified KK 4.4.2 ROM, and prevented further OTAs.
I can't recall if I installed a custom recovery, so i tried it and in the upper left hand corner it says Recovery Booting..., it fails to enter recovery mode and then rebooted normally.
So I installed Safestrap, booted into recovery, and backed up the Stock ROM slot. I then did a Factory Wipe and Advanced Wipe the system partition as per the instruction to install Jasmine ROM.
I choose then chose reboot into Recovery again so that I could use the SD Card to install Jasmine. Unfortunately, I'm stuck in a bootloop where it says Recovery Booting... and never gets back into Safestrap.
I've tried holding down the Power Button, Volume Up or Down, and Home and I can't get into recovery or download mode.
I also tried using a USB Cable plugged into my PC and the button combo thing, but no luck.
Any ideas guys?
Thank you in advance!
Pull the phone battery.
Wait 5 or more seconds.
Reinsert battery.
Start phone with Vol-Down + Home + Power. (as if you wanted to use Odin Download mode)
When the "do you really want to do this?" dialog pops up, select cancel.
This will boot to the normal OS (and also clear the boot communication block so that the next time you reboot it doesn't try to boot the recovery again)
For some reason this sequence won't work if you omit the battery pull. (Don't leave it plugged in to USB or a charger, either)
It works this way with MJ7 firmware; since this is a bootloader behavior, it is possible that it won't work the same way with later firmwares. Simple enough to try and find out though.
good luck
Good news!
I was about to select download mode finally, but only after I removed the SIM card!!
I odin'd 4.3 stock, towel-rooted, safestrapped, and installed Jasmine.
Thanks again all!
