I just moved over from T-Mobile. I used both the G1 and G2. On a daily basis I stream Slacker and other radio apps when I'm jogging or in my car. On T-mobile i rarely lost connectivity. Since moving to Sprint, Slacker and other radio apps continuosly stop when I'm jogging or walking. When I'm in my car, the stream is consistent.
The difference?
Car - Plugged in a custom car dock
Jogging - On battery and bouncing around as I jog.
Any ideas why this may be happening?
My theory is that there is some battery saving feature that intermittently turns off the 3G when there is no request made from the phone. the other theory is that the back and forth motion makes the phone lose connection.

Try turning off WiFi, if it's on. Otherwise it may be a compatibility issue with the bluetooth receiver in your car.
Try some google searches for "music skipping bluetooth" and you'll find TONS of information on this problem. It's probably not your G2, because I use bluetooth in my car everyday and never have ANY issues with music skipping.
What type of bluetooth receiver / stereo are you using?
Don't know if it's related, but I get the same issue with a stereo BT headset, listening to music and just walking. If the phone is in my hip or thigh pockets, the music will skip while I'm in motion. If in my inner jacket pocket or breast pocket, it's fine. Also if I simply stand *still* the skipping goes away. Eliminated 'a loose component' from the mix by just holding it in my hand.. soon as my body passes between the phone and the handset (swinging smoothly with each step) the skipping starts. Also, if it's just playing through the built-in speaker it has zero problem (aside from being tinny and quiet).
I suspect that the signal strength management may be overly-aggressive in cutting down on transmit power as fast as possible to save battery, and doesn't ramp back up well.. if the phone is stationary, I can get a good 60-100 feet from it before the sound starts to drop out/chop. You may just be going through patches of RF interference on the BT band level, and getting similar interference/attenuation as you drive.
Hoping the new radio version with the upcoming OTA may fix this problem (and maybe the wifi attenuation issue too, while we're hoping for things).
Only the default headphones that came with my vibrant nearly a year ago(Now in the garbage because the cord just somehow ripped upward from the jack head) actually worked in my audio jack. I have these good skullcandy headphones that I use with my ipod touch that work without a problem and they will not get the audio from my call in them. Neither will the audio from videos on youtube or any other flash website come through them, but that was when the connection was working properly...
It seems like when my phone has a 3G signal, it's not getting 3G speeds anymore. I can't find the option to switch from 2G only to 3G on my phone because maybe it just needs to be switched on and off to work again. Is it possible T-mobile might have flagged my phone and slowed down my connection speed, because it takes at least 5 mins to download a 711kB app from the market now. What's going on??
OK first questions. Are you Rooted and on a custom ROM or are you on stock 2.1 (or 2.2)
Hey guys,
I usually listen to music off my Nexus in my car when ever I'm driving (either off the SD card, or using the DI.FM app). I put a new stereo in my car about a year ago and ran an 3.5mm aux cable to my center console glove box, so it's pretty convenient to just plug in and go
But I would love to start using Bluetooth instead just for the extra convenience of not even needing to plug in.
Thing is, I've never used Bluetooth on a phone before (The nexus is only my second device), my concern is for battery life. Is this something I would notice eating my battery? I don't intend to use the Bluetooth for placing or receiving calls, just for listening to music.
I haven't bought a receiver yet, so if anyone has any good suggestions throw me some links.
Thanks!

Having another radio whether BT, WIFI, GPS(yes i know its not technically a "radio"), Cell, its going to affect battery life.
depending on how long you're streaming you may not notice a difference if its 15 minutes to work and back and BT if off all other times.
But that's still 30 minutes you could've saved by having BT off.
actual battery depletion may vary.
Making things quicker, get an NFC tag in your car so you can turn on BT and connect to a specific device(your headunit) and toggle BT off with another tap on your way out
Happens a few times during my morning commute. I'll be listening to a podcast and using Waze, and the audio from both drops.
Bluetooth is still connected. At this point I can wait it out (usually a minute or two) ... or turn BT off/on again ... both usually resolve the issue.
It's happened since day one - and my previous phone (HTC Inspire 4G, running stock and CM7) never had this problem with my radio.
Anybody else having this problem? Any suggestions on a fix? I know Goog changed the BT stack in 4.2 to improve "reliability" ... but this is driving me crazy.
I've been using my bluetooth regularly in my car (09 TSX) and not once has it dropped/stopped playing music. Whether I'm streaming from Tune-In or just from the Play Music app it always works. In fact it worked for my 3 hours road trip this past weekend without a single issue!
No issues with phone calls either.

I just set up bluetooth in my car yesterday. The audio and call quality is great, but I did have it drop out once. When it dropped out the phone locked up and I had to reboot in recovery. I'm running completely stock and have not rooted.
Try turning off WiFi , mine was cutting out whenever a wireless network became available. I turn off WiFi when I get in my car and have had no issues since

I have my creative WP300 stereo connected via Bluetooth to stream music. it appears that the bluetooth connection kept dropping every a few hours of use. I had no problem with the same headset on my Sprint GS2 (Epic 4G touch). Just curious if there is anyone experiencing similar thing? Do I have a defected device? Thanks,
I have my GS4 paired to my Kenwood DNX9960 headunit in my truck and every time I get in my truck, only the "Use for phone audio" is checked, not the "Use for media audio". I have to open up BT settings on the phone and check the media check box and it connects right away. This is so annoying, it should just connect both profiles automatically.
the media portion of auto connect is determined by the music app.... i use power amp and have no issues with it auto connecting, but with the stock player no luck.

I too have upgraded from the GS2 and I have experienced drops with Both of my New Devices (2 S4's). I have a Dual XML8150 Head Unit in my vehicle. Neither of them Auto Connect. Sometimes the music will play for the duration of my travels, However most of the time it drops the audio in a few minutes (less than a song few minutes), however the 2 devices are still communicating (meaning I can play/pause basically). I do not use it for phone calls so I can't report how it works on those. A few times yesterday it would happen almost immediately, and one headset wouldn't even play audio from the onset (although I could still communicate (Play/Pause). Once I would disconnect from Bluetooth, the audio was confirmed playing on the headset. I have not tested this problem out with my Plantronics BB903+ headphones, but will today.
So a final note to wrap it up. I'm at my 14 days. Even though Im only rooted with TWRP, I'm doing the full reset on both devices and i'm going to test it out today flat stock. In addition to the Bluetooth antenna/radio, None of the Antennas (surprise, surprise Samsung) on this phone seem to be very strong. It seems that one likes to connect to 4g more than the other. Same place, same tower ones stuck on 3g and one on 4g (according to RF signal tracker). Even a data off/on doesn't seem to force it over and im sick of seeing the "can not establish a data connection" popping up in the middle of doing anything. I can't forget to mention the Dropped calls, probably more in 2 weeks than in several years. I had an S2 since the first month it was out (Typical Lame GPS, and crazy menu key was about it) I briefly used an S3 (Asurion Claim), and the troubles I had with my S2 were gone with the wind, so I figured the S4's have to be even better....Well, any troubles today, and I'll let you know what happens at the sprint store tonight.
