[Q] Which rom? Need: Froyo, Sense, camera, working LED notifications - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hi guys, sorry to post such a noob-like thread but I'm loosing the will to live here. I've tried a few different roms now but I can't find a stable, fast rom that supports all of the following:
Froyo, Sense, camera, working LED notifications.
I've tried mdeejay's Froyo roms and LED notifications appear to be broken in those.
Any suggestions? Thanks guys.

Try mattc 1.8 w/ sense (very stable) and the hastarin #7.6 kernel. He includes a light file that should let your notifications work.
Cheers

LED notifications are currently broken in most Sense builds I know of but given everything else is working now that's a small price to pay.

It works quite brilliant on mattcEvoLeo with your latest kernel Hastarin

I'll have a go later and see what I can get working. Is it easy to update the hastarin kernel?

Same with mattc's 1.8. I think he has done a good job. But did your LED sometimes just permanent shine until you got the phone on the charger?
This is the only thing that happens to me. But it is very very rare.

non-sense builds with solved g sensor and wifi router?

ive been trying to find a stable build but the only one ive found where the g sensor didnt cause freezes was a sense one. im using one stock froyo that said it was fixed but im still getting freezes. ive been looking through the dev section but it seems theyre all sense with the new fixes. any recs?
exactly what I would like to see also, to many sense builds around imo

I think you just need to replace the kernel with michyprima's, hastarin's or huanyu's Evo kernels.
PS: Can anyone actually tell me which builds totally eliminates freezes? I'm using mattc's Evo build and it still occasionally freezes.

I'm using your build with the same kernel too for a several days and I still have got freezes. Especially when I play games that make use of the G-Sensor.

Yeah, I tried that build and I think it might just be not as bad. It doesn't seem to freeze as much as it did before.
I'm using michyprima's r0 Evo base, hastarin's 4.1 still froze a bit though.

(Discussion) - Which Kernel do you prefer ?

Greetings,
I want to know your opinion .. Which Kernel do you prefer and why ??
- ElBartoME 2.6.32.9 #1 OR
- michyprima's R11 OR
- Darkstone OR
- Hastarin R7.1
-----> Currently i am using Hastarin R7.1 ... Tell me your experience ...?
Thanks ...
each dev puts hard work into each build. u shouldnt single out any of them by posting this poll.
there is no "best" kernel as there are good points in all of them and together they have created their own style of working.
All of the kernels are have similar tweaks so alot of things are the same i.e darkstones graphics tweaks and michys ext batteries.
I think that this would need to be a "which kernel do you prefer" rather than a best thread as this all falls down to preference. I for example prefer michy's kernel as i like having the higher clock speed and it has never let me down. I have tried others but keep coming back to michy's

i didn`t mean any insult for any dev .. title changed !
I prefer michyprima's R11 as I find that current evo kernels break more things than they fix.
Please move this to Android general?
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
I see how this topic could become helpful. It could signal out which kernel is the most used, eventually, kernel devs could move from their stuck-up ways and work together on whichever kernel people consider to be better/more stable.
I'm on Matt 1.8 and his kernel had constant problems with data dropping and very frequent 2-3 second freezes that were just abnoxious.
I switched to hastarin 4.1 and then 7.1 and I wouldn't go back. My device's been on Android only ever since and it's staying that way.
agreed.
this is a bit of an odd issue, because personally I really don't like the Hastarin R7.1 kernels, and the darkstone ones work beautifully, but clearly that isn't the case, regarding the fact that that's the most popular one.
in retrospect, this probably isn't a very good idea for a thread, because its not going to show anyone which kernel to get, because they will most likely get a different experience to others

Michy Evo R0
I actually like the Michy Evo R0 kernel. For me all the nexus one based kernels have the problem of freezing up if you let it go to standby with wifi on, once it happens you don't have much choice but to wait until it unfreezes. All the Evo kernels have the problem with the delayed flash, but that's a smaller problem for me.
I don't think telling devs they are stuck up is a good idea. I personally use which ever I wanna try. It gives them each good feedback. They make changes and those fixes spread to other kernals.
Sent from my HTC HD2 Decepticon using XDA App
Im running Hastarin´s (4.1 or 5 i believe) in Mattc´s 1.8, im not sure which kernel was on that one, but im getting great results with this combination, standby drain goes down to 5ma at some points, and running with no SOD, almost none touch screen freezing, really minimal, and when they occurr it gets recovered pretty fast, im really happy with it, no 3G data for me, wifi works great though.
SLDS.
PS: Sorry about my english, i hope i made sense lol
I'm using Hastarin 4.1 ... didn't decide yet to move to 7.1 till most of users say it's OK.
I tried MichyPrima as well to see if it solves the data connection issues but turned out to be almost same performance like Hastarin's.

I agree. This is why I didn't upgrade to Froyostone 3.1. Seems that all current issues still exists + delayed camera flash due to the Evo Kernel
Hastarin's 7.1 drops data like a son of a *****. I ripped the one out of Shubcraft 1.5... Never had a drop signal once.
Just go to advanced wifi settings and set wifi sleep to never

Do'h! Why didn't I think of that? Of course now that I've tried the desire HD builds I really really really want to use that, but that camera doesn't work at all.
Now that I think about it, kernel code is getting better all the time, this poll really is premature. Maybe 6 months from now we can really decide.

[Q] Any new build without lock screen of death

Guys, please advise me. Is there any new reliable android build that have no lock screen of death? By lock screen of death i mean that it's unable to unlock device after some sleep because nothing swipes on unlock screen.
It's really pity, i can't find any recent one or any clear explanation why it's happening, instead may be, it has something to do with WIFI reconnect and appears on newer kernels. Since older builds doesn't stuck.

hmmm.. never heard of the lock screen of death.. i know some kernel has some issues waking up the device.. anyway, you can try all the evo based or the desire HD based builds.. i know those builds doesn't suffer from SOD, in case that's actually what's causing your lock screen problem.. mdeejay Froyo HD and mdeejay Evo Sense those two are my daily drivers.. the only thing is you sacrifice the camera on those builds.. on Froyo HD you won't have a camera at all while on Evo Sense, it has a premature flash issue, but they're both stable..

Winmo : Latest Energy Rom
Android : Darkstone Desire HD Beta 2.7z
works great no SOD i can use it for Daily OS ( of course without playing games but with FB and Twitter and some net browsing )
from 100 down to 20% battery playing games or browsing net straight maybe 2.5 hours ( just like the 2g iphone batt life when you use it alot)
I recommend the evo build since the kernel source is available and everything works while in the be builds, camera does not work. It won' be fixed until HTC release the kernel source. This is usually few months after the phone release. I am running an evo build , no screen freeze, no data freeze

[BUILD][15 Nov. 2010] phireMOD Vision (Desire Z) [DISCONTINUED]

15th November 2010 -Welcome to phireMOD Vision!
Based off official RUU 1.34.405.5
I will not be updating this build any longer. Please use phireMOD Ace linked in my signature if you wish to use the newest sense on your HD2. Thanks to everyone for your support!
What’s the difference between this and SkinnyEVO?
HTC Vision (or Desire Z) has many visual changes over the Evo sense roms. A few of the differences you’ll notice are flipping animations with the clock, fading transitions between programs, and the ability to apply skins (themes) to your phone from right inside of Sense. There are many other minor graphical changes, and a few functional ones such as “Recent Apps” showing in your notification bar.
This build is multilanguage.
What doesn’t work
Ereader
Camera/Camcorder
Live Wallpapers
Navigation is glitchy
Install Notes
You may encounter odd flickering of the boot animation and then a black screen. If this is the case, just wait longer, it is still booting.
Please change to a static wallpaper first thing!
Huge thanks to
football for the ROM

love the new desire-hd and desire-z builds, not enough of them here i think..
just a question- does this build sync with htcsense.com or not ?
great to see another new generation sense build
.
Great to have up-to-date Desire Z/HD build.
Does anyone know if any dev's working on camera? I've seen some active work few weeks ago, but not recently.
I do like the release, but the fact is the ereader and navigation problem, make me wait for an othe release, but your work is appreciated as i'm big fan of hastarin kernel
Great job on this man, always good to see more Z and HD ROM's.

Thanks for the build/share. I would also like to see more of these roms posted around here. Did a quick search and did not find any others besides yours. Then again, forum searches have not always been my friend
update:
build does sync with htcsenseDOTcom. Ask for your information/register account at the android phone setup.
Thanks Phire for this rom. I am currently using your beautiful themed Evo 1.7 rom. I am so happy to see that you have now cooked a Desire HD/Z rom. I know when the HD/Z rom is fully functional I will be moving to use it as my daily rom in place of the evo rom. And certainly I will be sticking with your roms. I am really looking forward to the fix for the htc eReader and the the camera. I love the htc reader so much so that i keep on booting to windows whenever am reading books instead of using the readers availabel in android market.
I have a personal request. Is it possible sir to cook a themed HD Desire rom similar to the themed Evo 1.7. I so much love the themed evo rom such that stock sense looks like something the cat dragged in......
By the way boss is it possible to install the theme separately or it must be cooked into the rom? I have in mind something like the GTX theme for winmo which can be installed as a cab.....
phiredrop,
I am using your great EVO1.7. Do you will continue update that serials?

I also changed the Kernel to Hastarin 8.2UVOC and setCPU to "on demand" and now it works very well and fast.
So far I found two little bugs, not clear where they came from:
- On home screen, after wake-up, something is flickering, i guess it's the weather animation, but it's not quite visible
- A transparent bar appeared at the bottom of the home screen(and other screens), when I started playing music.
The camera is not working right?
No the camera is not working yet. When it is- you will hear a lot of happy yelling al over the xda community
Love the new sence but my own experience tells me that these roms are not as fast and smooth as mdj's eVo builds etc.. on the other hand: will keep an eye on this one more feedbacks!
Keep up the good work!
Nice build. So far seems to work just fine. It`s great to see that HD build is not ded Thanks a lot!
Great job! Thanks a lot of your effort!

The most stable Android build? Less bugs, not laggy?

Hey all,
i wanted to know which build you prefer and which build the most stable one is. im searching for a version with less bugs. i want a non laggy version. can somebody help?
the ram versions are far away from being stable right?
what about the hd versions? have they much bugs?
I love to know this too. I want stable and not care much of nice animation. i think you will get different answer because i don't think anyone know what the best out there. You will have to try different one to see which one work for you best. Every single one out there will the different issue you might run into? The good thing are alot of developer actively working on these rom for FREE. That really nice of them. I really appreciate all the hard work.
The common response to this question is that it's really about personal preference at this point. There may be some small features not working in each build but I can't say that any of them have any particular major flaws unless it's a "work in progress" build like Gingerbread MyTouch4G or whatever. I recommend bookmarking this http://android.hd2roms.com/ and get a better idea of the different Roms and see which are staying updated or w/e. I like to have 2 types of Roms, a Stock-like or Cyanogen-based and a Sense-themed. Of these types, I have found the following to be particularly good for me:
- Cyanogen-based: HD2ONE (all though he is not developing any longer, this one should be solid for a long time.. my personal favorite) - JDMS (could easily replace HD2ONE for me if JDMS stays in the game and keeps new Cyanogen builds rotating in and doing the testing\tweaking for us)
- Sense-themed: MDJ Froyo HD (I'm most impressed with MDJ's commitment to keeping his roms up to date. Sense based are often bulky so I have to overclock them a tad but MDJ compensates by undervolting nicely)
- Stock-like: Darkstone SuperRam (I may be biased for Darkstone's builds but this one loads super quick) - NexusHD2 (Solid and Slick... nothing wrong with this one)
- Experimental: MDJ Gingerbread (Really looking forward to the last couple things to get ironed out on this build)
So yeah, there are 6 right there that I use. Which one I use the most is kinda hard to say. I currently bounce between HD2ONE and MDJ FroyoHD. I use Excellar boot loader and just customize my Rom names and just reboot in each and play/test them all for speed/stability/functionality at my leisure. I just load up my card like this and figure out what works for me the most:
/HD2ONE
/MDJFroyoHD
/SuperRAM
/JDMS
/NexusHD2
Bottom-Line... all of them are excellent, have fun and try each on. And don't be afraid to try something new. A lot of new guys are trying to get their stuff out there for us and need testers and feedback to help them perfect it. Sorry for being long winded, there really is no simple answer. They are all good!
For me its MDJ Revolution HD v.1.2 with hastarin 8.6 kernel
Its apsolutly fast, stable and good looking. I have tried almoust all versions and this one is definitly winner for me.
I vote for option A - Try them all and see which one you like best.
Mdeejay Sense Clean 2.3 build as posted in Mdeejay thread by Hastarin. It has Hastarin kernel 8.53b included but you can update to 8.6. It's totally stable and I haven't found anything to replace it.
