what video file format plays in the g2? I got .mp4 and it says it wont play...
MP4 should play; I have a ripped version of Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope in MP4 on my G2 and it plays just fine.

redownload the file. bad download or somehting. it should play.
I've had good luck with mp4 files created with handbrake. h264 video, aac 2ch 48000Hz audio. These files play with the built in Movie player, Rock Player and VPlayer.
Vplayer is a great video player. Plays different types of video formats.
download rockplayer from the market. it plays divx files just fine. does subtitles too. give it a try and see if it'll play your mp4

MP4 is a container format. Think of it like a can, it can contain soup/nuts/etc (e.g. codecs). Use MediaInfo to peer inside the file.

I uninstalled the core player and still have the same problem !!!!
I tried to fix it with schaps advanced configuration(file associations) but still have the same problem !!!
I made a restore from spb backup but no result !!!

i have a history button instead. the winamp blog mentions 'SHOUTcast is not currently supported on certain devices (e.g. Motorola DroidX). More specifically, SHOUTcast is not supported on devices that have implemented "PlayerDriver".'

^^Great find. The only thing missing is that it does not show the names of tracks that are playing in Shoutcast. But, you are correct - a great player, and only force closed once

same here, no shoutcast option in this new updated Winamp.
but even with beta version Shoutcast didnt work for me, just like any other galaxy s with any kinda froyo.
i guess ill try that leaked motorola player.

if you have Angry Birds Star Wars II or Fifa 13 and many other games you can find exe files.
running exe files is possible on windows phone 8 .
I don't know you have to use ID_CAP_GAMESERVICES to run exe files or your code must be in C ++ Native .
but I know it's really possible .
I patched many xaps that include exe files
D3D C++ Apps do indeed get compiled to .exe files. Incidentally, you can also launch .exe files compiled with WP SDK with CreateProcess() from kernelbase.dll.
All correct. Be aware, though, that just because a file is an EXE doesn't mean it magically gets any special permissions. You can launch an EXE using CreateProcess, sure, but it runs with the privileges of the app which launched it (that is, it runs within that application's "chamber") so it doesn't do much of interest...
The only way is services. Nothing else can run out of the chamber.
This was the main reason I had to return the OnePlus 3. I have a big movie collection (a lot in both apps) and like to download and watch them on my phone, but for whatever reason the OnePlus 3 wouldn't allow HD viewing, and would max out at 480p in both apps. It drove me crazy.
Because the Axon 7 is similarly cheap, I was concerned that the situation would be the same. I wanted to ask those who have it: have you had any similar issues with those apps? If you go look at an HD movie on Google Play Movies, does it say something like "HD movies will play in SD on this device" like this screenshot?

I figured. The US model of the Axon 7 is not on the list of Google Play supported devices. That usually indicates this problem (among others).

Just fired up "Transformers" in Google Play Movies (got it for free - only movie I've got) and it appeared to happily stream in HD over Wi-Fi on my Axon 7 - I couldn't find any setting where it would display the playback stats.
Attempting to rent a movie did return the same warning you posted though.
This is not a device limitation it's a site\host imposed limitation. This helps limit the bandwidth the sites use daily by reducing the quality stream for most phones.
Hi Guys! I just bought this tablet, and been trying to play higher than HD videos for days in multiple circumstances without succes.
what is going on?
i updated to the latest firmware,
latest youtube app, videoplayers (tried several)
in youtube app:
wont show options higher than 1080p
cant zoom in to 16:9 videos to get rid of letterboxing.
I tried these videos, Patagonia 8K, etc. still only fullHD

downloaded the above vids from youtube in WQHD and 4k resolutions : bad playback, stuttering
tried blueray rips, 2160p : extreme stuttering and freezups!
1440p : theres very few available in this resolution, movies etc. only found one, played ok, but sometimes stuttered also.
what am I doing wrong? or this is a only fullHD capable tablet with a bigger screen stacked on?

ps: this is the one of those I tried, with very heavy stuttering, while I also cut the first 20 so minutes and removed 2 audiostreams from the 3 to make it easyer on the rig, but to no avail...
