I live next to CSUN in Northridge (I'm a student), and get 6.22mbps Down and 1.22mbps Up.
I attached a coverage map of what's currently available.
This map was generated using Sensorly and Shootme.
Zoom In. I bet it's not gonna be as covered.
Agreed, unfortunately Sensorly is highly inaccurate unless you are zoomed in almost to street level

Hi,
I'd love to see 4G work on my phone once, just for kicks, but I live in NJ. Am I correct to assume there is NO WHERE in NJ that has 4G coverage? Just Philadelphia, PA?
I hope in the coming year they open up coverage for at least the Northeastern Corridor (busiest daily train route in the world), because I live right along it.

I checked Clear's coverage map, and it seems Trenton is covered. I haven't tested myself to find out.

edit: or rather parts of it
thanks, i didn't know about that map. i go to lawrenceville from time to time, so hopefully that area will get 4G coverage soon. i'm shocked that places like Bristol and Levittown are already well covered.
I'm in Voorhees right now and have had 4G come up here and there though we are covered on the map. In Pennsauken (just a few miles out of Philly) I had 4g pretty strong outside but once I went in the house, it was gone.
Hopefully it will get stronger soon...
i get it in lawnside, somerdale, magnolia, mapleshade ect.. spotty but pretty good at times.
in maple shade for sure i have 4g, but i dont keep it on cuz of the battery drain...
Hello everyone I was wondering if there was some kind of app out that could keep track of where we receive 4G? I think it would really help out because sometimes I find myself Looking at the taskbar when I'm driving. It would also let me shut off the radio when I know its not around saving the battery. If anyone knows thank you in advance.
sprint has a coverage map....
Unfortunately for cities that aren't supposed to have 4G yet (I'm looking at you, Los Angeles) there's really no coverage map for us.. I've been looking for a good clearwire/wimax coverage google maps mashup myself for awhile...
Perhaps someone could write a 4G wardriving app for our phone =D
Yeah well their map shows all of Kansas city highlighted when in fact it is hit or miss.. Kansas city is a very spread out metropolitan area. I find that their coverage map is inaccurate..
There are two Market apps that I have found for mapping cell coverage.
1)CellMapper
2)CDMA, GSM & WiFi Map Viewer (yes that is the full name as it appears in Market)
(1) says it supports 4G, but I haven't used the app extensively.
(2) does not specifically mention 4G, but their back-end servers can probably tell the difference. I found it more enjoyable to use, and it has more existing data available. (Look at San Francisco; there is a lot of data for all of the big 4 carriers) Just remember that it only tracks your coverage in the foreground, unless you specifically put it in background mode. Also, you'll probably want to disable "passive scanning" which will eat up your battery.
Whatever you choose, I would recommend only using them while driving so you can keep the phone on the charger while mapping. It eats a ton of battery. Plus, there's not really any point to mapping coverage while you're stationary!
thanks dude Im gonna try these today.. appreciate the info.
Any updates on what you tried, any results?
Yea, Sprint's coverage map is a joke. In most places around here, you have to shorten the border of 4G by about 1500-3000 feet of where you'll actually get coverage.
Hey, guys
I'm switching to either Evo or Epic in October, and I'd like to know beforehand how 4G reception is working for you in any Orlando area (I do know for a fact there's already 4G in Orlando, if you aren't informed). I'm also writing a review for a website and need some feedback on said topic. Thanks!
Yes it is, It has been working since Aug 1st.. no problems.. and it works outside great.. but indoors sucks
I'm getting about 3Mbps down, 1Mbps up at my apartment (on Millenia), which is double the download rate of 3g that I get here. Haven't really checked it elsewhere though...I hardly use it, as when I'm home I just use Wifi
3 down 1 up is usually what I achieve over in Waterford Lakes/Avalon Park.

The two areas I got it were at the corner of Herndon Ave and East Colonial Dr (there was a Sprint store there, so I assume thats where the 4G signal was coming from) but I was averaging around 2-4mbps down, 1.07 up, the other area was in my city of Winter Park, which surprisingly the signal has been penetrating inside my house rather well and I've been getting around 7-9mbps down, 1.9 up.
It seems up and down most of Alafaya is all covered. I travel over in the UCF area, Waterford area, Oviedo, and Winter Springs and all seem pretty well covered. Map-Wise I drew a rough sketch of the area I have used. http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF&msa=0&msid=102798843898597385172.00048f7b3b6a161f47cff
I would say 3-4m is a general average. As said before buildings suck for the most part. I have gotten it inside a few buildings at UCF. If you are outside and in covered areas then you should be good.

I live Downtown Lake Davis area and I'm starting to see it around here now. Very faint inside my house, much better outdoors. Very exciting though!
Avalon seems to be the limit for the east side of Orlando as I live in Wedgefield and I watch it every day drop off as soon as I pass the Avalon light on 50 but in town the usual is around 4-5mbps down .5mbps up.
Its HERE!!! Probably not fully capable but it functions in Midtown.
It's definitely around Roseville and up in Rocklin.
Midtown? Roseville? Rocklin? Nothing in Arden area yet...
What kind of speeds are you guys getting?
in natomas also
I was in Antelope earlier today, and 4g connected, but speeds were unimpressive (1k down, 500 up), and connection was unreliable. Must be in an initial deployment phase.
We have had for 4g in Stockton for over a month it works great. Even out in the burbs where i live.
I live in Elk Grove and get it in the middle of town but not so great where I live on the edge of town..
Just got confirmation from my Sprint rep that the greater Sacramento area has officially been turned up with 4g service, from El Dorado Hills, Rocklin, Downtown, Elk Grove, everything.
Post your speeds!
So last night I was testing in various areas in Sac, consistently getting up to 3k down.
So here's the official word:
Sacramento is online as of Sunday. Ditto for Citrus Heights, Folsom, and Roseville.
Service by the 937 Howe Avenue store sucks, so don't go there for WiMax issues. Took me an hour of fighting them and showing the tech how to see the RSA keys on his rooted phone to get mine replaced due to my RSA keys getting nuked.
Rancho Cordova (South of [email protected] and [email protected], and by Anatolia. No word about the business park, Walmart area, etc.) is currently a testbed zone (meaning the phone will pick up the signal, try to connect, then instantly disconnect). Since the rest of Sacramento was doing this just before being lit up, it's fairly safe to assume that region will be coming online in a few months, possibly in time for Christmas.
awesome, im moving there early next year
parts of Folsom has 4G. my friend was able to get 7Mb down on his EVO today. very impressive. i am running Cyanogen 6.1, so no go for me, but might be time to leave AOSP (reluctantly).
This map is pretty informative. It even shows where each tower is. Check it out. Just Google "clear coverage map". Will be the first link.

I got an email from sprint telling me 4g is now in Corona, CA. So I decided to check the coverage map on clearwire. I'm colorblind so it's hard to tell the exact colors, but the colors appeared to be all over inland riverside and even down to Moreno Valley, indicating the area was covered. When I typed in my zip code at my home in corona and work in moreno valley and it said they were in the area. With all this talk of wimax going away, it appears to have expanded quickly. Last time I checked the map, Wimax was creeping in and surrounding my area, now it's covered, did clear get some extra wimax funding?
yeah i looked on the map and it looks like chino has wimax but for the most part corona does not.
Hmm, Well I won't know for awhile anyway out of town all week. Looks like the are moving quickly becuase it wasn't more then a couple months ago when I checked the map and there wasn't any in corona, I live in north corona right off the 15 and 91, so hopefully thats where the signal is!
That s good news

I live in Corona, Ca and I just picked up 4G at home. I live on the edge of Corona though closer to Yorba Linda. Corona Hills, off Green River.
Man I hope they hit plam springs

I live in Placentia, between Anaheim, Yorba Linda, and Fullerton, and I get 4G in all of the cities I just listed. I just found out there was 4G here literally 3 days ago. I got the Clearwire app to check for coverage on a whim seeing as how I'm on CM7 and I had full bars, and bam! 4G!
Been abusing it all week.
WiMax is now available at my house where 3G is barely available.... interesting.
