[Q] Dialpad Numbers Stopped Making Sounds - Epic 4G General

I somehow seem to have lost the ability to enter numbers on the dialpad when I'm in the middle of a call (to enter an extension, make a phone tree option, etc.). The numbers do make sounds when I'm not in the middle of a call (like to manually dial a phone number), and it certainly worked fine very recently, so I must have made some setting change, but for the life of me I can't find it. The "audible touch tones" options is turned on and every volume setting is set to max under "sound and display." Rebooting did not solve the issue. If anyone knows what I did and how I can get my tones back, I'd be very thankful. Thanks.

Speed It Up

How can I somehow speed up my XDA? I miss so many phone calls, because it has to "boot up" when someone calls and by that time it's 3 rings in, so by the time I get it out of my pocket and am able to answer by pushing the "Answer" button several times, I'm lucky to get it. I had the XDA IIs, and it was fine. Yet this is just a joke.
Any apps out there available or advice?
Thanks
just curious.... I had a similar problem. I recently unassinged unique ring tones from contacts. and made sure to copy the ring I wanted to use into the main memory(i.e. not on sd card) and this seems to have fixed the issue for me. I have even reassigned the unique ring tones.

You can adjust the ringing time :-
1) Go to the Phone app
2) Go to the Menu and select Options
2) Go to the Services tab
3) Highlight "Call Forwarding" then click "Get Settings..."
4) Adjust the time in the "Forward after:" box to 30 seconds
I now get six audible rings with old_phone
simply upgrade to the latest radio stack, seems to have fixed alot of peoples universal with the same problem, including my own universal
mine always rings on the second ring and havent upgraded.
but i have changed the forward to 30 seconds by calling my operator and having it changed, 1 month later, I found the manual change capability.
i would be looking to configurations and settings on the individual devices and see what is actually running and going on, cause it aint the phone.
Test this File-perhaps it speed up your Telephone.
The Turbo-Modus on my Universal speed up the Telephone too !

Try the cab-File - scroll down a little bit.

Phone keypad tone problem

Hi guys,
Hoping someone could help me out. I tried installing a program (forgot the name) that would make the phone vibrate as you keyed #'s on your phone pad, and it didn't work, so I uninstalled it. But what it did was screw up my phone keypad. It doesn't sound the typical # tones when dialing, just a ping for each #, and it is also a lot slower to respond to keying each number too.
Anyone know how to fix it back to the way it was without a hard reset?
I even installed Eten Dialer today (great program with the larger keys), and it has the same problem (slow to respond to each keypress and has the ping sound for each key).

Weird double call tone... help?

I just put in the SIM card on my smartphone and tried to call and I get a weird call tone - instead of one I get two overlapping ones, one being solid "beeeeep" and the other more like a bit vibrating one. And if the line is busy, the call ends with the usual "beep-beep-beep" but instead of the earphone it comes from a speakerphone and the worst thing is, it doesn't end until I press the "End talk" button whereas on other phones it usually ends after 3-4 beeps.
My question is - is this behaviour normal for the WM6 built-in phone? I kinda doubt it but still... And is there any decent replacement for the built-in call handler application or are they all based on the same built-in crap? I looked but I found not much other than skins...
I suspect that one call tone is from network and the other is from built in application when it gets the network signal, but there's not much I am able to do about it, so please, can anyone help?
Sounds like your profile. Do you have it set to ring, and vibrate at the same time? As for the end talk, that's normal for WM6 phones.
Actually it's not the profile, because I am talking about the tone that I hear from the earpiece - there's two of them. I am not talking about vibration, that's turned off. Just that the overlapping call tones - one is solid, other is vibrant beep. And it sucks that there's two of them...
In addition, here's one weird thing - when I put in SIM card from one operator, it does these annoying things, but when I put another, everything works fine. So it kind of depends on the SIM card somehow...
UPDATE: Got rid of the double call tone with a workaround - in registry under HKCU\\ControlPanel\Sounds\GCFTone changed the "sound" key value from "ringback.wav" to "silent.wav", for which I previously created an empty wav file full of silence and copied it to Windows folder.
The SIM card change didn't help. I currently conclude that
a) if the SIM card is SIM ToolKit capable, it creates this anomaly.
b) the problem lies with some unknown properties of the SIM.
The problem with busy tone coming out of speaker still persists. Haven't found a solution for it yet. Going to harrass Microsoft and the mobile operator with the issue now
What is weird is that as far as I know, this is the most advanced PPC forum and I don't get even ideas about which registry setting to look into or smth... That's a bit sad.

Maple vibrates instead of ring in Normal mode

Hi.
Here's the situation: I'm using 3VO rom build 2.00.
My phone works as it should when in Vibrate mode. When I change it to Normal mode, the vibrate icon in the top bar is still present. When I get a call or a message, the phone is still vibrating and it doesn't ring. I've tried to reset profiles to default, I've tried changing the ring type of a certain profile (its set to Ring, I've changed it to Ring and vibrate and then back, same situation).
I've tried switching on the vibrate mode with a key (on my model this means tab/#/vibrate key), and the vibrating icon is still there.
When my profile is set to Normal, I get a sound when i send a SMS.
What else can I tell you? Oh, I've also tried a reboot, same situation.
It worked fine for a month with this new rom, now it's not working... And it bothers me sometimes because I cannot hear when someone calls me, it's just vibrating (same with the Outdoor or Automatic mode).
So can someone please advise? I've used search on the forum and google and couldn't find a similar description of the problem.
Thank you so much in advance!
change ringtone sound to something other than vibrate
the default ringtone i believe was vibrate. change the ringtone to something else in the sound settings. if not reflash the rom works well for most everyone else.
soclean, you are my saviour!
Indeed, I had to change the "Ring tone" setting under Start/Settings/Sounds (it was set to Vibrate).
Thank you man.
no problem. happy to hear i was a help and it wasnt something else wrong with the phone.

dialpad not working during call.

Pretty much like the title says.. when I make a call the dialpad box is grayed out and I can't brink it up. Getting annoying due to the fact that I cant get rid of the voice mail icon or enter pin numbers or anything along those lines.
Anyone have any ideas? I looked for a setting that would enable/disable this, but couldnt find anything.
I know it worked before.. so could an app or something I recently added have disabled it somehow?
When did this start and what were you doing just prior to this problem? Are you rooted?
yes, phone is rooted.
Really hard to say when it started. Ive done some more tests.. Any number I call, including random numbers(like 1234) will bring the dial pad up. only time It doesn't show the dial pad is when I call Softbank's(Japan) voice mail(1416).
Ive even tried to bring up the dial pad, like im going to be making another call, and it wont make the tones that notifies the voice mail service to do anything.
so I guess the question is, how does the phone know to activate the dial pad when you make a call?
