Lockscreen mod with Customizable Background
for OpenDesire and DeFrost
I've modded the framework and enabled custom lock-screen backgrounds. I've currently got it working on my custom mods for OpenDesire and DeFrost.
This is not lockbot or widgetlocker, this is a modified vanilla lock-screen.
Please don't attempt this if you don't understand all of this. I am not responsible for any damage this may cause. I recommend doing a nandroid before playing around with this.
This will make your screen look silly when answering a call from a locked screen. There is nothing I can do about this.
I've included 2 lockscreen images for the black mod and templates for both black and white. If you are using the stock sliders, you don't need to use a template, just make sure the image is the correct size.
Here is proof:

What you need to have
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
HTC Desire, S-Off'ed and running OpenDesire 4.0.34-37 or DeFrost 5.6
Ninjamorph and dependencies
My Custom framework
Photoshop/GIMP.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
What you need to do
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Flash one of my themes through recovery, ensuring signature verification is off.
Let phone restart
Bask in glory of new lockscreen for a second, then realise you can't read the status bar.
Extract the .xml files to \SDcard\CMTheme\ and apply either through the settings menu (Settings > CyanogenMod Settings > User interface > Tweaks extras > ) then restart for configuration to load.
Enjoy new theme
Make a lockscreen that is 480*800, If you want it to look best, place it under either of the layers photoshop. If using the white lock widget use the white psd file.
Place lockscreen on SDcard.
Open Ninjamorph
>New Project
Navigate to system>framework>framework-res.apk>res>drawable-hdpi>lockscreen_bg.png
Select the file you would like to have as your background
Select "finish project" select framework-res.apk, then "yes", "yes" or "no", "yes", "yes". Let phone restart to new lockscreen background.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you don't have an S-OFF'd Desire
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Download one of my themes.
Open the file in an archive program (I use 7zip) and navigate to framework\framework-res.apk\res\drawable-hdpi\. Locate "lockscreen_bg.png" and extract this file.
Edit the file, put it back in the archive, flash theme.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Alternatively you want other framework
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok, here it is guys. My first attempt at a Metamorph and only for OpenDesire.
You can only use this on stock, or simple themes. My definition of "simple theme" is one which is only changed icons, this means no battery mods which use more than the 6 steps that is the default, ie. no *.xmls are edited. or...
you will get stuck in a boot-loop
Instructions.
Download "custom_lockscreen.zip"
Open Metamorph and point it to this file.
Select apply all - it should reboot into your new background.
Then use ninjamorph to change background as outlined above.
As this is my first attempt at a metamorph, please be sure you backup before testing it. I am not responsible for anything going pear-shaped.
Reserved, just in case

This is AWESOME!
Nice work, dude!
EDIT: Here's a screenshot of the lockscreen in action. Looks GREAT!

Not currently. It requires modding the xmls in the framework of the rom. As far as I know, this will require each rom to be decompiled then edited then recompiled which I don't have time to do and/or maintain.

Can't you add your code to Cyanogen or Open Desire or anything like that & maybe they can create a new option? I know nothing about developing but I know that they can merge your code within android.
does this work also with your white theme classglass?
can i use aswell the white.xml file for that lockbar?

Yeah I too know nothing about developing. I have no idea how to go about this. I tend to leave this to more capable people as it takes me too long to code anything. I only really post what I come up with and use, its become a bit of a hobby. I don't have time to port/merge code, as I don't require it and it's not worth my time.

Not as yet. If you use the "flat_white.xml" file you should get a white statusbar, but the icons will look inverted.
I probably won't have the white version up until late this week.

My own theme, see sig. You can find the wallpaper here. The clock is a mod of the in-built analogue clock.
Anyway to get this to work on the Evo?

Is there an easy way to get this working on DeFrost?

For those who visit this thread and you happen to see a theme we can use for our HD2, kindly post it here so other users can have an easier time in looking for themes. In one place if possible.
These are some of the themes that I've tested (but not thoroughly) with Shubcraft2.0, Hyperdroidv1.7 and Michyprima's CM6.1 but I think will also work with the other CM6.1 builds. (not sure with 6.0, if not, you can use the porting tool below)

Lockscreen & Battery Icon mix:
battery / Signal Icon
Download the pngs below...
From this:
To this:
you can change lockscreens and battery icons with metamorph...but what if the design is from an another theme? here's how:
I do it manually,
1.) get your original "framework-res.apk" extract "res" folder with winrar
2.) get the "framework-res.apk" of the theme you want to get the battery icon and extract its "res" folder
3.) go to res>drawable-hdpi of both folders
3.) copy and replace only the pngs with "stats_sys_battery" names into the "res" folder of your original framework as below:
Uploaded with ImageShack.us
4.) open again your original "framework-res.apk", delete the "res" folder in there and drag the new "res" folder that you copied the new pngs to.
5.) put the framework to sd/(your android folder)/root/system/framework, then reboot
Lockscreen
Froyo lock screen on Evo sense
From this:
To this:
1.) do steps 1-5 of Battery icon changing
2.) copying and replacing only files with "ic_jog, jog_dial & jog_tab" names as below:
Uploaded with ImageShack.us
so basically with this you can get bits and pieces of parts of different themes you like into one theme.
Back up first your original files, I had boot loops at first so better do it.
Instructions:
1.) download the zip for the theme
2.) extract the "app" & "framework" folders to your desktop
3.) copy the "app" & "framework" folders to sd//root/system OR put them to sd then push them
4.) boot or reboot if in android
**how to push files please check this cause I don't know how to do it , http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=752279
**extra instructions for darkfroyo will follow up if needed, can't remember how did I get the effect of the taskbar....very sleepy.....
Theme Porter:
Now for those who want to port their themes or having problems with the ones I uploaded, you can just port those themes or any other theme as long as it is the same resolution to the current "apps" if available & "framework-res.apk" of your android build.
Instructions:
1.) download "Theme-Porter" and read from here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=737526
2.) extract the main "Theme-Porter" folder to C
3.) connect your hd2 to pc and copy all applications in system/app and framework-res in system/framework
4.) paste copied files in theme-porter/new
5.) copy "app" & "framework" folders of theme that you want to use and paste them in theme-porter/old
6.) run "script.bat"
7.) finish. the files in the "new" folder will be your new theme!

Hi everyone, especially our Theme Creators..!
I was looking yesterday the new Nokia N9 with MeeGo 1.2 and thouht that its UI its just excellent. Is there any chance we can somehow get a Theme like that? Or at least the icons used? The look pretty nice!
I think I've read somewhere that N9's ROM is alread "on the loose" and they are trying to port what they can into Nokia N900. So probably the ROM can be found easily.
Thank you for your time!
Can you link me to a system dump.
Edit: the icons look like jzrills rounded icons for miui
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
My friend sileshn unfortunately I son't know where to find the system dump, but I will try to find out..
MIUI's ROM icons look like MeeGo's then? Can we somehow use them in CM7?
BTW, I just took a look at MIUI's site and found it really nice.
I am currently downloading MIUI 1.6.17 from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1090899
Or should I try this one:

Eybee's version is good. Lalit is not updating his rom frequently.
Thanks for your reply.
I will try out eybee's rom right away. After installing it (through Apply Update) I have to also install latest GApps, like with CyanogenMod, or MIUI has them pre-installed?
Where can I get these icons then and how to install them? (either in CM7, or MIUI)
Thank you again for your time.
GApps is already included. The theme is available in the rom too. It is called rounded_icons. It is only icons.
Use the Theme Manager application to install them. It is very versatile. You can mix and match parts from different themes and make your own theme, like icons/fonts/wallpapers/notification bar/lockscreen/dialer/messages etc.
I've just installed MIUI. Lets see it then.
Thanks again for your help.

Is this icon pack available separately from the rom?

And then (probably - maybe there is more simple way) you need to decompile every apk and change its icon, after that compile it again, sign and install. I don't know other way. You need to ask advanced themers from forum.
Thank you for the info, unforunately I don't have the time right now. Maybe next week. Unless someone does it until then..!
No need to decompile any app. I'll create a flashable zip in a couple of days. Busy now.
Edit: Background of icons is not transparent. It will take more time. Also there are only very few icons.
sileshn maybe I can help you if you tell me how..
You said: "No need to decompile any app". Then how can you do it??
Will be waiting for your flashable zip then!
FuFu metamorph method.
DONT TRY THIS ON MIUI. MIUI THEMING IS DIFFERENT
You can use FuFu OR which has a metamorph option to apply themes. Basically what you do is to find out what the icon for each application is called. It is different for different apps. The icon is usually inside the /res/drawable-hdpi folder. You then create the same directory structure and place the icons inside it and apply using FuFu OR. Let me give you an example.
Say you want to change the messaging application icon. The application for that is Mms.apk. So you first create the following directory structure.
Mms/res/drawable-hdpi/
Then place the icon for messaging into this folder and name it ic_launcher_smsmms.png
Follow the same procedure for all the icons you want to replace. Then create a folder, place the app folders inside this and follow this procedure to apply it.
Download one of Basians themes for Froyomod and have a look at the structure inside the zip file. You will get a better idea. But as i said before, the N9 icons don't have a transparent background, so they will not look good.

It's nowhere near finished. Still has a few bugs. If someone could help me fix these that would be great. (Im not much of a programmer) just email me at [email protected] with some edits you made.
Requirements
Miui for Droid or Milestone
My themepack
Yep that simple. First off, hope you have MIUI. cuz you'll be needing it.
Link to MIUI ROMS
Google Apps
Just use RomManager to flash over to MIUI
I ripped some icons off an iPhone4 systemdump and "borrowed" some code from existing miui themes.
The themes where in Chinese, so i translated most of it..
The files that are in .mtz format. they can be edited by renaming it to .zip. also files with no extension can be edited if renamed to .zip
Bugs
Lockscreen notificationbar is clear
Unlock slider slides a bit too far (unfixable, i believe)
iOS 5 style Notification center needs some fixing
Font needs to be white for notification center
Get rid of all the orange in the Notification Center
Launcher Slider Dots arent round
There isnt a first page search function (not fixable)
Bottom home screen row needs icon titles

The Theme Pack includes...
M Logo Patch (Use RSDLite to flash .sbf)
Bootscreen
Lockscreen
Launcher Theme
Wallpapers
Icon Pack
Other App Themes
MIUI stores its files in /SDCARD/MIUI/
Download The .zip archive from multiupload
Make sure you have MIUI first
Flash the BLG...sbf file using RSLite
It contains the replacement for the Motorola Logo
I REALLY dont want to be held responsible if you screw something up when flashing it. Dont unplug while Flashing ;D
The MIUI folder should go straight into your SD card. it should ask to replace or merge files. Allow this.
Reboot your Phone
Open ThemeManager
Edit the current theme to match this picture
Reboot Phone
Rearrange some icons to match an iPhone 4 Homescreen
Thats it!

Screenshots
The Theme Pack includes...
M Logo Patch (Use RSDLite to flash .sbf)
Bootscreen
Lockscreen
Launcher Theme
Wallpapers
Icon Pack
Other App Themes
MIUI stores its files in /SDCARD/MIUI/
Download The .zip archive from multiupload
Make sure you have MIUI first
Flash the BLG...sbf file using RSLite
It contains the replacement for the Motorola Logo
I REALLY dont want to be held responsible if you screw something up when flashing it. Dont unplug while Flashing ;D
The MIUI folder should go straight into your SD card. it should ask to replace or merge files. Allow this.
Reboot your Phone
Open ThemeManager
Edit the current theme to match this picture
Reboot Phone
Rearrange some icons to match an iPhone 4 Homescreen
Thats it!
If you liked my theme show that "thanks" button some love

Hi everyone...
I think, "Android" should look like Android. I respect and consider your great efforts, but MIUI gives us the possibility to make what we want; and it's not cool see any Android Smartphone with the Apple's iOS appearance; that looks like we are envying to have that OS. Sincerely, I believe Android is better than iOS, not only in the kernell or fuctions or versatility, but graphic appearance is superior.
Greetings from Ecuador.
Multiupload was suspended
so, why don't you upload another sites?
But Thanks. I'll download when this file uploads another sites!
Hey guys I'm not a big MIUI fan but what MIUI Scotland is doing is messed up and if you support the real MIUI devs, THEN I think you should support their efforts in spreading the word and exposing MIUI Scotland for stealing work without proper credit!!

While working on making the port of MIUI for the Kindle Fire more usable for the tablet I decided to take on modifying the launcher. After a bit of smali work I was able to allow the number of rows and columns in the launcher to be adjusted.
Although I originally intended this mod to be primarily for the Kindle Fire port of MIUI.us, I have received numerous requests for the modified apk. So, without further ado, I bring to the masses the MIUI Launcher with adjustable homescreen grid size. I started this mod with MIUI 2.1.13 so make sure you download the APK that goes with your version of MIUI.
Please note this will not work with other ROMs as it relies heavily on the MIUI framework.
Instructions
--------------------------------
1) Download the appropriate APK and place it in the root of your SD card
2) Rename the file to Launcher2.apk
3) Using either Root Explorer or ES File Explorer (with root privileges) copy the file to /system/app
4) Change the file permissions to -rw-r--r--
5) At this point your Launcher probably closed so press home to bring it back up. At this point it should be the new modified version. If not, just reboot your device.
6) Go to launcher settings and adjust the # of columns and rows you would like. hint: start out with small values and increase them as you see fit
7) Once you change the # of columns and rows press Reset Launcher to get the launcher to use the new settings.
8) Enjoy getting a little more room for your favorite apps and widgets.

Congratulations to those that actually took the time to read the OP. I applaud you for being part of the minority here on XDA. For those of you who do not take a minute to read the OP, well there isn't much to say. Because you won't be reading this and you will end up asking some stupid question that could have been answered by reading this. - |0xD34D|

Nope not just tablets. It started out as a need for something better on a tablet but it should work just as well on other devices.
The request I was receiving were for people that wanted to use it on their phone and it has worked well for them.
bro,
1. do it support scrollable widget?
2. support widget resize?

#1 is probably much more of a realistic possibility, while #2 would really take some work seeing as I am working in pure smali. That's not to say it can't be done, but with the way the MIUI launcher deals with widget placement, it may take quite a bit of work to implement it.

If I had the time to dig into such an endeavor, I would. Right now I have other projects that require my attention.
Who knows, I may need a little break and decide to give it a shot.
nice work bro!
i got a request for you
can you make the edits needed for this nice hack in the launcher2.apk in THIS zip?
the launcher2.apk included in the zip above does support scrollable widgets
and when you change the density the icons will remain all the same size
and the text label will be just under the icon instead of in the icon like in your screenshots
i hope you can look at it thanks
PS. the .13 launcher just works in the .20 rom

I'm not about to go and use another person's work without permission. I'll have to make sure it is alright with the original creator of that mod before using their work. I can however, look into what it takes to enable these features and just implement them myself. The icon title is an easy one so no worries there. Scrollable widgets however, I have not used so I'll have to take a look at them.

True, the 2.1.13 launcher does work, but there are some subtle differences in them that may or may not be an issue. If it works and there are no issues then great, but if there are it may be best to use the version that corresponds to the ROM.
Will this work on the ICS test 1.11.9 build? I'm not sure what the newer updates include as far as the code, but I figure they might include some of the stuff from 1.11.9

Nope not gonna work.
Let me try this one more time. It is for MIUI v2.1.13 or v2.1.20. Those version numbers are from the official miui.com versions.
If you change the grid size, your folders look terrible once opened.

Not working for me on MIUI 2.1.13 on HTC HD2 NAND
After replace of Launcher only Bootloop!
thx
working for me, thx for that!
only thing i really miss is the possibilty to deactivate the text label of the apps under the icons, because depending on the values i choose for gridsize the names overlap each other, so it would make sense if they could be deactivated.
do you think there is a possibility to include this feature? or could/would you tell me how i can do it myself?
greetz,
sUsH667
Can anyone make it for non miui Rom .
HTC Sense 3.5,Android 2.3.5
Great looking mod, any chance you can make a mod for MIUI 2.2.3?
you should try this one which i pulled from the switch-tweaks-pack made by prazaar, all credits go to him!
just copy it to /system/app overwriting the existing launcher in there (backup before!) and giving it rw-r--r-- permissions, then restart and that's it. if you experience any problems you could wipe cache and dalvik-cache and reboot again, but i don't think it is necessary.
i am using this one and it has customizable grid-size AND the possibilty to deactivate the text label of the apps under the icons and all the other stuff, too!
as always, i am not responsible for nothing bla...

So, you've downloaded and been blown away by the most advanced ROM on the HTC 10 - Viper10!!
Well, the fun doesn't end there! We plan on working together with the all new HTC Theme Engine, and Venom Theming to provide you with a full theming experience.
Please post any theme questions / issues here rather than on the main ROM thread, let's keep that clean for ROM issues.
Thank you
PLEASE NOTE:
- ALWAYS HAVE A NANDROID TO FALL BACK ON. There might be issues, especially during the first few releases of the theme.
- It is highly recommended you dirty flash the ROM (flash without wipe) between switching themes
Changelog:
02/06/16:
- Initial release
Latest ViperDark available on Venom Hub
After installing ViperDark, set your custom colour that was selected during the flash by going to Settings > Personalize > Edit Current Theme > Colour. You may need to toggle between Custom Light Headers and Custom Light Headers to get it to apply.
Venom Download HQ
Most previous downloads can be accessed from our Venom Download HQ, kindly provided by @Whiskey103.....thanks mate!
@j to the 4n, @m0narx, @ivicask, @shnizlon, @topjohnwu for the amazing Viper ROM
@ViNOK16Bit, @fichl, @Behold_this and the other venom themers
Thanks also to the Venom Beta Testers, who are always willing to test out any themes before they are released.
So you've read about the revolutionary theme engine in the ROM thread. But what exactly can you do with it? Basically, it allows you to alter some of the graphical elements on the fly, without needing to flash or even reboot.
Using Venom Tweaks, you can change the appearance of:
Statusbar icons
EQS icons
Battery icons
Sense icons
Notification shade background
App drawer background
These elements are all independent and can be changed to suit your tastes. So, you can use icons from different icon sets to mix and match your own personal theme.
But that's not all. Take a closer look at the screens where you choose statusbar themes and icon sets. You'll notice that each supported statusbar icon can be changed independently. So you like wifi icon from theme A, but battery from theme B? No problem, download both and mix it up as much as you want. You're only limited by what's available in the Hub.
And if there's some icons you want that aren't in the Hub? That's what the Venom kitchen is for.....Special thanks to:
jotha - for the battery Icons
As if the ROM wasn't customisable enough, the ROM devs have also developed the Venom theme kitchen.
Really want some statusbar icons that aren't in the Hub,or got a great idea for a set of Sense icons? Why not make it yourself and share it with others via the Venom Hub?!
We've put some themes in the Hub to get you started, but the aim is to fill it with user generated content.
We've tried to make the tutorial as easy as possible, but if you have any questions, here's the place to ask.
Upload your completed themes directly to the Venom HUB via the all new web based Web-Frontend as explained below. If the theme looks nice it will be approved by one of the team members and will appear directly on the hub, so all users can download it from there!
One thing we ask though - ideally you'd be using icons you've created yourself. If you are going to use someone's else icons, please ask them for their permission first.
We all spend a lot of our free time making these, and it's really annoying to see your work ripped off by someone else! I'm sure you'd all agree.
If you used icons from the UOT kitchen, then say so.
Happy theming!

Yeah, I also use Nova. It will probably put sense home into your system partition, but you can delete it if you want.

Just go
adb logcat > FC.txt
using command prompt. Let it run for a little while. The text file will be in your adb location.
