After stock ... - EVO 4G General

Hey I was wondering I have been looking at all the roms out there for the EVO and most of the roms have things broken in it. And so I wanted to know if anyone had a suggestion of what Rom I should flash over stock that will give me the most benefit cause I use all the features of the phone , including 4G I just need something complete. Also if that's not possible yet I would like to know what kernel will work best for stock.thanks

You can try fresh Rom it has everything working. I just use rooted stock ROM with kings #11 cfs kernel.

sweet man thanks for the reply how is that kernel?

So far its ok. There are people who sat its not that great and that another version of kings kernel is better... I can't remember the version that was being recommended...

Hey check out MYN RLS2 its sweet! Perfect for anyone wanting to keep sense.

Fastest stock froyo kernel

Suggestion box didn't come up with anything relevant. Basically just rooted my Evo, running stock 2.2 and want the fastest kernel without flashing a custom ROM - I actually like Sense on a phone that's fast enough to handle it. On my Hero it was awful and CM6 helped tons - on the Evo I'd like to keep it.
Can anyone offer any help? Currently running the usual 1147 quadrant score. Over 1500 would be awesome.
Bump before bed.
Just do some research tons I mean tons of info in the Dev section go have a read
from the fade
Well.. I've tried that. I can't find anything in plain English that says "This is for stock Evo" or "This is sense based and will keep all of your nice widgets". That's why I asked the question.
Dont know if its the fastest, but i Run this on my rooted stock EVO..

It's cool. Basically you want a kernel that works on Sense ROMs. There are a lot of them out there. Installing a new kernel won't affect your launcher or widgets as long as it is compatible with Sense.
Honestly the easiest thing to do is to install a different ROM that comes with an improved kernel. There are lots of Sense ROMs out there such as Baked Snack. They come with their own kernel and are tested and optimized to work together.
edit: and yes, netarchy's kernel posted above is a fine example. Flashing that kernel from recovery will improve your performance but once again, if you are running a rooted ROM you may already have a good custom kernel installed.

recommend a rom

after becoming fustrated with the lack of a update for north/latin america, ive decided to flash my phone. Im currently on jh2 and its working really well without problems. Ive download jpm to flash but not sure if it will work as its a european rom and also been hearing recently it has a few bugs like the battery showing an incorrect percentage.
So can any1 tell me if it will work/recommend me one that will.
Well i can tell you one thing - you will be getting lots of advises !
However, first you might try the latest Canadian Firmware which was released last week since that seems to be the closest stock ROM you can get for North America
P.S. - You might check THIS THREAD too...
That jpm bug is real i think

First thanks for responding, Ive seen the canadian rom but it barely been tested. I think only 2 ppl have tried it.
I recommend http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=957123 with the latest fugumod

I've installed indroid 4.2 and it's a really nice rom. The only thing until now that's not working is the gps. It takes really long time to get a fix. And when i get a fix, my google navigation crashes. In indroid 3 it was working perfectly.
Thanks for all the responses guys. As this is my first time flashing ill stick with stock. I have the the jpm without bootloader files so ill give it a go.
Btw anyone know if its recommended to remove your sim and sd when flashing or optional.
use stock JPM most of the custom roms are stock modded and nothing special..
Use stock and your own ****ty tweaks which is a lot better !
I recommend cyanogemod....Marcellusbe is working on that. It will be great if he finishes it.
try Destiny Based on JPN, and its fully stable.
I recommand the Kyrillos'ROM 5.5
It's the more stable and battery saver rom i've ever tried !
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=957123
And yes, cyangenmod when it's finished, big thanks to marcellusbe
sorry for my english.

Even the indroid developers respond very quick and to the point. Rudolf is awesome. @everyone: go for indroid 4.3
Hi
My preference is:
Kyrillos 5.7 JPM-based with Fugumod 2.2 Bleeding Edge kernel OC 1300mHz
Most stable ROM I've used, quick responses and no FC so far (only been using again for 8 days but hey all the others I tried would FC a few times a day). I love it!
Switched to Indroid for a while and it is good but went back to Kyrillos as I prefer it.
Ive finally flashed (jpm). I just couldnt wait anymore. Everthing seems to be working good thus far, Thanks for all the help.
for american roms try stock DTLKDA or rafo's ROM those are the only ones I know for america I am currently on Rafo's Rom and its very stable btw I am new to this forum
I would recommend using team lambent kitchen and creating your own personal rom. I'm using jpq with g3 v1.32 lite for extra stability. G3 has a ram script built into it already so just remember not to install the ram hack performance mod.

Get jpm and customize it according to your needs...
No fc's at all.....most stable

Im getting my i9000 on Wednesday but i have to go back to work on Tomorrow. I have researched how to do everything and downloaded the kernel and apps i will be using that aren't in the market however i havent decided on a rom yet. Usually i would just flash them all and choose the best one but i dont have the time at the moment . Please could i have some suggestions for the best overall rom. I have done some research and i am leaning towards cm7/miui.
Thanks
I would start with stock JVR first do you have something to compare other roms to, best to use a different kernel tho

thanks, any recommended kernel? Ive downloaded tegrak
I used JVR for a bit and was impressed by it. I've been using CM7 nighties for a while now too and like it a lot. Still not sure if I'm going to go back to a Samsung ROM or sick with CM7. I'd recommend either right now.
thanks guys, ill start off with jvr and see how it does from there

Quickest most stable rom?

Sorry for posting this, I've used the search function but I can't really find any current threads about this. My friend has this phone and its been really glitchy and it's been really bothering me. I want to put a custom rom on her phone, but I have no experience with any of the htc hero roms. Which one out there is the quickest but still relatively stable? She's got the sprint cdma htc hero. Since she is not too great with learning new things, a sense rom would probably be best, but she could probably get used to aosp too. Thanks for your input.
-_- i'd suggest cm7 imo, using the latest nightly #202 and jaybobs kernel v10
or kush's rom look in the developement thread.
Kush rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1092332
jaybobs rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1090234
cm7 nightly http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=959080
Hi,
Ur best bet for a sense ROM would be liquid sense with a few tweaks like jaybobs kernel and Juwes optimization tweak and all that can be found towards the end of the forum.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=856099
But if u want a newer non sense stable ROM .... I'd recommend Hero Deck. All the kinks are gone from the start.

Just make sure to make a lot of time to read the threads to fix any issues that u have.
A decent more commercial ROM is:
Cyanogen.com
Sent from my HERO200 using Tapatalk
I'd recommend CM6. Runs really fast and is really stable. Other than that, or if you're looking for a Gingerbread based build, go for Deck/aosp.
I'd go jay bobs. Just updated today and its wicked

After rooting your phone

Hello,
I have few questions to ask here in the community regarding rom and kernels.
1. Which Rom do you guys recommend that works without any problems (beside cyanogenmod)?
2. If Cyanogenmod which one do you recommend stable or nightly?
3. Which Kernel should i use after rooting my phone that works correctly and has no problems?
Please share with me some of your thoughts and opinions.

never tried classic, but mikeG is 100% great rom, i need to try out new kernals myself
Myn's Warm series have always been very smooth and stable for me. I'm not going to give you a link, you can find it yourself in the Dev section.
Energy 2/6/12 rom is awesome... nice and smooth pretty much bug free. can be a bit hefty on the internal storage, but with dt a2sd and dalvik on sd card its not bad.

I second this. Wife wanted an iPhone, I wasn't having that. She got an Evo and complained since day one....until this build of MIUI. She is overjoyed now. I've flashed a lot of stuff on mine and am very happy with the look and feel. Much better than any Sense based ROM I have tried by far and doesn't look like any other Android build without heavy customization. Just runs nicely out out of the box.
Doesn't have 4g but I never turned it on anyway.
