Just got the flyer in my monthly CU statement; good for some of you that can't get in on the 23% student discount

Aaaand anyone that works for a town/city/county/state government can get a 10-20% discount. If you work for a utility company, you can also get 5-15% discount.
I get 20%, working for my local city hall, and don't need any coupon code to do it. Just walked into a corporate store, showed 'em my pay stub, and that was it.

I work for LASD and received 20% off..I take it that the credit union 10% cannot be combined?

It depends where you go to school.

Just seen this in the confirmation email they just sent me, fine print...
Application of discount requires 2yr contract extension on existing plans. Does
not affect upgrade eligibility.

This works for any phone/tv/internet service for anyone interested. And most of them dont ask for proof. I have both the credit union discount and I dont bank at a credit union and one for an employer that I do not work for.
Anytime I get service I always call and say I just took a pay cut is there any types of discounts that I can add on to my account and they usually start just giving you things.

Can you apply to current contract?

sent from my DAMN Evo!!

Is it a fair assumption that you can only use one discount at a time? I get a 10% discount for my job, I'm eligible for 10% for both using a credit union and going to school. I imagine they won't give me a 30% discount.

Most people can get a discount also based on where they work.

Another shameless Sprint discount plug

I promise you all, I am only doing this as a means of giving back to the community that has given me so much.

When i signed up with sprint i made sure to open an account with alliant credit union for a 25% discount. Well worth the 20 minutes of my time.

Seriously?
Yes it is on top of your corp discount. I have stacked 5 discounts from different credit unions and my company for a total discount of 105%.
Sprint sends me a check each month for 5% of what my bill should have been.
No, it doesn't stack, it replaces your current, even if your current is a higher discount.
....interesting....so some CUs offer percentage discounts instead of or in addition to the modest discounts listed on the SprintSave4CU.com website? where would we find a list of the discounts such as the Alliant Credit Union? Actually, this could look better than a SERO plan if I can get a 25% discount!
My G.M. discount gives me 21% I believe. But thank you.

You'd be surprised at what corprate discounts are available. Most people aren't even aware that they can get discounted services through their employer.
one thing about SERO, though.
How frequently can I upgrade my device?
Everything Plus customers are part of Sprint's New For You program and qualify for a discount after only 12 months. The amount of the discount depends on the length of your contract and the number of months you have had your current device. For more information on the New for You program, click here.

I'm not sure how you are supposed to get this deal.
It states you have to purchase the phone through the StudentRate store, but the Epic 4G is not listed for sale/pre-order. Then, the code says it expires on the 31st, so how can you even use the deal if the phone isn't available for sale yet?
Im waking up early on the 31st to see if this will work on launch day
that 23% off will offset the 10 dollars a month fee

I'm also trying to find out if this deal is legit. If I catch any clues I'll be sure to post what I find.
EDIT: So been checking through Google Search with a few terms and not much comes up, there is a blog post for college students about how great and beneficial the site is with a few informal testimonies, and some people post about it on Facebook. Seems to be very much in the shadows, not many people know about it, yet at least.
if you click the discount links, it takes you to the sprint site . if you select a phone and go to the plan pricing step, all of the prices reflect the appropriate discount. I went through the checkout prices and right before you pay, the discounts were all applied. IMO it seems to be real.
anybody did pre order on this site yet?
yea I preordered from them. Had to mail in a form with all of my account info to give to sprint to upgrade the account. It said overnight shipping so I'll probably get billed on the 31st and get the phone on the 1st
Unfortunately it seems this deal isnt for everyone. Upon clicking the link for the discount, all it lists is a 15% discount, and browsing the phone selection doesnt bring up the epic at all.

Buy the phone from this site with the simply everything plan ($99.99). Once you have the phone go to sprint.com and chat with a support rep. Complain how the phone was activated under the wrong plan and just tell thing you want the Simply Everything Plus 500.

Oh ok, thats where i was confused at, my mistake.

Wirefly, no activation fee, 8/23 only.

For the rest of the day you get no activation fee ($36) when you buy the Epic 4G.
They only charge $239 for the phone to begin with. Given that I live in CA my savings were:
Tax: $28
Activation Fee: $36
Discount: $10
Total: $74 saved
Also I am not sure if I will get it but entering code WIREFLYBLUE22 should give you a free Bluetooth headset. People are reporting a 83% success rate on the site I found the code listed.

Tax with sprint or any other store at that will charge tax off of the base price not the discounted price I believe, thats over 40 bucks in CA.
So look for no taxes, if you are worried about that.

I bit the bullet with Wirefly. My advice for anyone else considering this option is make sure you understand exactly what they are doing with your Sprint account. Somehow the call center ppl put the wrong plan after I had told them many many times how I wasn't looking to change the plans on my account at all.
Has anyone else had good experiences with this company? They seem like a lot of frustration
Wirefly is sketch. They have this bull**** 6 month rule when you cancel your new contract within 6 months with any of the carriers, then they bill you $300 for "equipment recovery fee". So, for Verizon, I got hit with $375 from Verizon for ETF and $300 from Wirefly for a ****ing Droid 1 that I bought for $189. Do the math. They ****ing tried to rape me. AND, on top of that, they charged $300 to the same debit card I used to do the original transaction about EIGHT MONTHS after I originally did business with Wirefly. They did that illegally without my permission. They had paper billed me for it and I was telling myself "no way they're getting $300 when the phone was only worth $449".. then a $300 charge from "Simplexity" shows up on my bank statement.
Hate Wirefly. And, their "discounts" aren't even ****ing discounts. $10 off a phone? Give me a break.
I got the phone from Wirefly. I knew going into it the 6 month rule and I do not plan on making any changes or cancelling in that time. Also they have a 30 day satisfaction guarantee, so I can return in 30 days without issue.
I know they have a bad rep, but here is why I got it from them anyway.
No tax in California
Amazon only does new contracts
A free bluetooth headset(see OP)
Ships on the 31st
No rebate to deal with, $239.99 was exactly what they charged.
No activation fee.

I'm not sure how long it will take, they had a overnight, 2 day, and free shipping options. I went with free. I did notice Amazon says "Ships in 7-8 days" so they are not even shipping on the 31st.
Good luck everyone who went this route. I chickened out and decided to not go with wirefly. I'm glad I didn't, they are sketch and I don't like dealing with online chats and outsourced call centers for "customer support"
Pretty nice feature.
Great News! We received authorization to begin shipping the new Samsung Epic for all approved orders beginning tomorrow, August 31. Please continue to check your email and our online Customer Support site for updated information.

Sprint 23% recurring monthly credit for students

I you're a student and on Sprint, this might interest you.
http://www.studentrate.com/STUDENTRATE/all/get-all-student-deals/Sprint-Student-Rate-Member-Discount--/0
Is this one of the discounts they're discontinuing next month?
Read the fine text: Has to be used online, and from what I gather, you'll basically be renewing your contract for another two years, signing a new contract, or adding a line (see first consequence).
While 23% is nicer than the 20% I get through working for a municipality, I'll stick with my 20% for now. Thanks though!
They originally offered 15%, which I signed up for at first, then about a month ago they upped the discount to 23%. Think they also have a T-Mobile 25% discount. All you need to sign up is a .edu email addrress. Doesn't even have to be yours, just get someone to let you use it.
Now I get 25% off recurring fees per month and 50% accessories through work :O

Fortunately I ordered online at midnight from the studentrate site on release day and had an EVO 3 days later. I feel bad for people who have been waiting 3 months. With the 23% discount my bill is $70/month after taxes and everything. It kind of takes the sting out of the $10 charge, but the thought of paying $10 less with another smartphone just brings the pain right back.
Any other discounts that I dont have to resign 2 years for? I just got the Evo and im paying 100+ a month on this 79.99 play ugh, help!

If you just bought your phone and service with Sprint, I suggest hopping on a discount soon because it will only extend your contract for a month or however long you've had your phone. It doesn't add 2 years to the end of your contract, it just starts a new 2 year agreement. Unless you already had service with Sprint, you won't be adding much to the length of your contract if you do it soon.
I bought my Evo through Studentrate when it was first released and have the 15% discount. Are you saying that I can somehow switch that to a 23% discount without buying anything? Anyone actually done that and if so, how?

I don't remember exactly how I did it, you just click the link for the discount at the studentrate site. I think down at the bottom of the RI Sprint page it will say something about adding a discount to a line. Then you enter your info and Sprint will notify you if you qualify. YMMV.

Yes it can be done. S.W.I.M. signed up with the 15 percent discount and as soon as the 23 percent discount became available...he migrated to it.
Actually what you should have done, since you are a member over there, is read the 30+ page thread about this.
you dont need to purchase your phone through them or extend your contract. I got this discount directly through sprint, it was 15% when i first signed up back in october. I had to be very persistent, it took me more than one call. You also have to have the primary account holder be the owner of the .edu email address. I will try to get them to increase my discount to 23% now that it is a higher discount, maybe they did it automatically I didnt check my last bill yet.

The normal student discount is 15%, but there is a discount only for members of a certain Rhode Island education association that is 23%. Not every student is eligible for the 23% so I doubt Sprint increased your discount. When you sign up for the 23% discount online it clearly states that your contract will be renewed, but maybe by calling a Sprint rep like you did, one might be able to keep the same contract termination date with some haggling.
I get 23% off for being a Chrysler employee. Also can upgrade every year.

Go back to your SR account, go through the same steps as when you were ordering, get the new code, then go to the website that's given, apply the code and you'll receive an email within a day stating that you've been approved for the 23% discount.
