Hello
I have a problem installing Android 2.2 on SD card 15 gb
It just starts the process until it hangs.
Now I tried to install on a 2GB card and had no problem with installation.
What could be due to the problem?
Thank you.

Try reformating your SDcard.
i have never heard of a 15GB, do you mean a 16GB?
also, look at the class of it, it needs to be at the very very least a class4.
and i think the card is just too big, i heard many other people reporting the issue.
if your card is from tmoUS, it is a class 2 and is not fast enough to run it.
try an 8GB class6 for 25$US on newegg.com

see the 6 in the C. thats how you tell what class it is.
ALSO! this type of question should have been posted in the GENERAL section. as this does not have anything to do with DEVELOPMENT.
thank you.
8GB card class 4 work?
i agree, you will have a better chance of getting responses if this is posted in the general section.....having said that, i am using the stock 16gb class 2 sd card that came with the phone and have had no issues at all with running android for going on a month or so now.

No, this is not correct. I have an original 16gb class 2 and I still able to run Android without any problem. I have not lag or screen freeze whatsoever.

What rom?
Can you give a link please?
i have used almost every available build of android with my original sd card (class 2) and they have all run smooth. i am using mdeejay warm (with moomoo mms fix) and you can search and find if you want but i can assure you that all will work.

HDBeN, did you format your SD card to FAT32?
as far as i know, its the best format to use
Hey,
Someone had a similar problem before and I advised them to put some data into the clean SD card (1GB of music for example) and then put Android's files.
It fixed it for me and the other person (we had the same problem).
Try it and good luck.

Me too. No problems with the stock card. Hanging during boot I think is a radio issue...assuming you have not renamed the android folder without changing the startup file.

What is NAND?
NAND is the internal memory on your phone. This means that these ROMS can be ran off your internal phone's memory, without it having to be on the SD card.
UPDATE: It WILL be possible to revert back to WM by just flashing an WM ROM!
http://twitter.com/CotullaCode/status/24870232359
UPDATE: Video has been posted of the HD2 booting from MAGLDR into Android directly from NAND!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HWsxUWwUo_E&hd=1
Some information about MAGLDR on the htc-linux wiki:
Features
* Keep heads up for release: will be announced soon
* Choose between WM 6.5 / Linux-based OS
* WM 6.5 can be installed on NAND while Android could be launched from SD, or two Linux-based OS's can be launched; one from NAND and one from SD.
* Select different kernels (you can load kernel from list)
* TTY mode for developers. (ability to dump dmesg after crash, etc.)
* Built in Tetris (This is not a joke. It really has a Tetris game available that can be played with the 4 front keypad buttons.)
* Support YAFFS2 partitions flash via USB / from SD. Up to 8 YAFFS2 partitions.
* Support EXT2 partitions flash protocol (is this correct? please update talk page if not.)

Just asked Cotulla via Twitter. Let's hope we get an response! If I get one, I will update the opening post.
I am really looking forward to it but the sd card system also has its benefits.
To backup I simply copy the android folder to my PC and if something goes wrong, I delete that folder from the sd card and copy back the folder from my PC and I am good to go.
Also I can keep at least three Roms on my sd card and boot which ever I want to.
However, I think a NAND rom is a NAND Rom and has to be better than the sd card one.
delete mesage by me!
Can you dual boot? Or does it whipe WM6.5. And can you only
re-install by hard reset?
great news. i hope it will ease the consumption of the battery as long as sdcard consumes alot of power!
besides im going to hold the ground until people try this and see the ups and downs of android running off nand.
a trillion thanks to cotulla and his co-developers.

Hi everyone,
I am installing Android 2.2 (FroYo) On HTC [03 Sep 2010] (V1.6) on my Touch HD and got a problem with a message "Waiting for SD card". Could anyone help me to fix it?
Thanks so much,

After installing Froyo in my HTC HD, I found that the camera cannot work anymore.
Hey guys,
I borrowed the old sd card from a friend then install the android and it works!
LOL My original SD card of touch HD didnt work. I think only old sd card works right now. make sure you format it with the tool here http://www.sdcard.org/consumers/formatter/
and the issue about the camera is not fixed yet. we have to wait for the next update i guess.
goodluck guys
cheers!

As it's and kernel related (driver like) problem and it just doesnt address the camera at all atm - there shouldnt be any risk - so it's like there would be no camera for the system.
But dont try pin me on that later
(Dunno if it also applies for testkernels,...)
Anyway - what u could have found is the standart termes - android is experimental - all at youre own risk - but there shouldn't be one atm (think i read it somewhere some month ago)

"Fix 3: Tell your wife / girlfriend that you are about to make some modifications to her phone... change the ringtone and steal her old Class 2 SD Card to use with Android. load up an energy rom or an android build.

thanks i was looking intot he diffrent builds i have tried several but i think im sticking with the EVO CARBON REMIX. you should look at it too. everything seems to be working with no problems.
Some people have reported problems when mixing different android builds and windows rom. If everything is working right for you I'd suggest you keep it like that and just mess with the android portion of it.
Looks like we do live next to each other. It's cold out.
yeah i think the version of windows i have if fine for me. I got the android EVO Carbon build on there and it works perfectly. ill just stick to that.
And yes it is cold out. Went to the mall today... it was packed and cold...
now you should update your rom before the phone start crashing (get energy rom put in)

Evo carbon Remix is the shiz. It works great with the stock 3.14 ROM and 2.15 stock radio. With any Android ROM running off of the SD card, eventually you will get corruption.
One word of advice that I can give is that once you get it all setup and **** is working great, back up the build in a folder on your computer. then when it starts acting dumb, just format your sd card and recopy the good build you backed up onto it...
I've got about 15 perfect builds chillin on my computer. I usually don't back them up until I've done the full batterystats.bin cycle.
My favs are the Blutopia 1.0.4, Evo Carbon Remix V 0.6, Core Droid Supersonic V 0.7. I like the Desire HD builds around, but they aren't as solid as the SD builds. Evo is better than the Desire builds IMHO. Seems like the data is always faster.

Only difference between the 2 and 3 are the spl options. Both will get you to the same spot, but HSPL3 is more dumb proof cuz it only gives you two options 2.08 and HSPL 2.08. Like I said, it doesn't matter which one you use.
since i updated the official rom. do i have to do the HPSL again?

Nope. Not unless you flashed the ROM from the SD card. Go into bootloader. Hold down Volume rocker and push red power button. Hold em until you see the tri color screen... It will tell you what SPL you have.

It causes problems..
I don´t know if I´m happy with the 3.2
Take note, though: With Android 3.2, SD card support means something slightly different than what it's meant in the past. Whereas Android smartphones treat SD cards like regular drives, with full read and write access, Android 3.2 tablets view external cards in a much less PC-like manner. In short, apps can read an SD card -- but they can't write to it.
The reason: Google has switched to a new protocol for SD card handling in the 3.2 release. The thinking seems to be that with the high amount of internal space provided on Honeycomb tablets, most users will be turning to SD cards for purposes like media storage as opposed to application and app data storage. With that mentality, writing data from a tablet to an external card becomes less important, and a simplified user experience -- one that's less dependent on a user's understanding of file system structure -- becomes a higher priority.
To be clear, you can still write to a mounted SD card via your PC, using a USB connection; you just can't do it from the tablet itself. That means in an Android file manager utility like Astro, you'll be able to browse through the SD card and access its files, but if you try to copy files to the SD card or edit any SD-card-stored files, you'll find those options to be grayed out and unavailable.

I'll wait for the CWM flashable version. This is awesome. Asus does it right. Just give us quick vanila android update with minimal crapwares. That's all we want.
I'll be waiting for the updates of custom rom's as well, probably won't be long.
