Finally android on Artemis

All,
The project "Wing Linux" is hosted at sourceforge.net, the aim of the project is to
port Linux and Android on OMAP 850 devices.
Lots and lots of thanks to Cory Maccarrone <[email protected]> for porting android onto OMAP850

From the zip file install the following files in the given order
1) wing-linux-0.4pre3-rootfs.cab
2) wing-linux-0.4pre3-herald.cab
or
wing-linux-0.4pre3-prophet.cab
then browse to programs and run Wing-linux.exe
wait for 15 mins for the first time.

Thanks for the advice dude, I give a try inmediatly.

I tried te rootfs and the herald cab works fine for me I my orbit.
The GSM works I receive a phone call and a SMS too and both works.
Need more work for let use the buttons: the right softkey and windows button type "6" and "N" and "M" respectively, and We need a back button urgently
If i use the wizard or prophet cab I use android in portrait because all is in landscape.

Can this be installed on a memory card or does it have to be installed into the device memory

I think must be installed in SD Card because I dont have enough space in my device memory to install

Well I just make the steps posted in first post and wait.
Now I can run android but the buttons are not mapped yet, but xplayerku is working on that and maybe Darkstar can have a board support for artemis soon.

Hi Guys,
This rom cannot be updated on shady 313 WM6.5 Rom. if you want to update android you should change your operation soft ware to any other one.

its not a rom
it's still experimental
it isnt finished yet
getting it run on half working hybrid 6.5 rom will be quite far down the priority list
just for the developers information, it runs fine on pdhee's last 6.5 rom...or rather it did until i tried it this morning and it crashed out with the kernel error that others are reporting (cant mount fs).
reading the dev lists it looks like some poeple think this is an sd driver issue or something that was introduced in the new version
waiting for a fix anyway

the reason for that you dont close applications its because until now we dont have mapped the hardware buttons.
xplayerku is working on that and maybe darkstar too (i hope so).

if you read the thread, they are discussing making a specific artemis board config.
i think this needs to be done before we get any more progress
once the board config is done for artemis it can be fixed to run properly, but we need to wait for them to do this.
at the moment there are board configs for wing, prophet, herald and wizard, but no artemis so our phones are being booted pretending to be one of these 4 devices (which is why it doesnt quite work properly yet)

HELP magldr. 1.12 wont load cause rapitool keeps failing

and i tried d/ling windows mobile device center but since im using nand android now that dont work and htc sync does work but rapitool continues to fail ... im stuck trying to prep for flashing to gingerbread but i heard you dont have to flash to winmo just flash magldr 1.12 over 1.1 but keep as i said getting rapitool error

Are you putting your HD2 into bootloader then attempting to flash? You MUST flash from bootloader!

It's doing exactly what it should do. I'm not being funny, but did you even look at the thread before downloading the ROM, because the very first image on the page shows you a WP7 style app running?

You need to either flash a stock gingerbread ROM (if you do want Gingerbread), or find out what the WP7 style app is and just uninstall it.
The good news is that you do have Gingerbread now running on your phone

no i did look but i thought it would be switchable? because even on the screenshot you got there there are 2 styles to the rom or so it appeared to me

If you find out what the Windows Phone app is then you can clear the defaults for it (Settings, Applications, Manage applications), so that when you press the home key it will ask you what app to use. You can then select the stock launcher and use that instead.
If you're not going to use the WP7 app though, you're better off getting rid of it.

Yes, just use Magldr and select USB flash. And you do not have WP7 on your phone. It's an Android application that looks a little bit like it.

[Q] Which Android Version is the best and fastest for HTC Touch HD?

i can see here Threads with Android 2.1, 2.2, and so on - it gives *.zip Versions,
it gives *.cab Versions, ... it gives SD Versions, it gives Flash Versions, .. on this
Android Version doesn´t work Bluetooth, on the other Android Version doesn´t
work the Camera ans so on ... - i am totaly confused.
Can anyone tell me please what is the best and fastest Android Version for my
HTC Touch HD?I have flashed on my Device Windows Mobile 6.5, but now i want
Android on it.
What i need/must work on my Device:

I do not speak German, so I'd just run the instructions thru a translator - which is obviously not so great.
However, if you can manage to get Android installed, look for an app "MoreLocale2" on the Market. It will allow you to add languages to the system.

I don´s know what Point 4 means:
4. Screen calibration - you have three choices:
Re-use an old ts-calibration file if you have it and you know it's good.
Download the ts-calibration.zip file and extract it to where you put the rest of the files (root of SD or in a folder - make sure it all stays together!)
Manually calibrate - boot with no ts-calibration file and watch the boot process - you'll be asked to hit 5 points to calibrate the screen. If you have issues calibrating, try an older kernel (1225 works well) Once you have the calibration file hold on to it (make 15 copies if it's a good one ), reboot & go back to the newest kernel!

The file is attached to the FRX07.1 thread. Download the attachment, extract it, and place the ts-calibration file at the root of the SD, with all the other files.

Yes, you go to file explorer and run HaRET.exe... What's confusing about that?

Last questions: Can be the SIM-Card in the Device or must it be out of it?
Can i go back to WM 6.5? If yes - how to do it?

It´s done and it works, and the best - it is automaticly in german Language.

So, you're good? All the other questions answered? Reboot to get back to WinMo. Read the FAQ for USB - it doesn't exactly work like it should because Android is running off of the SD card.

I saw a nand release which was massively buggy but it worked for some bits. It was pretty swift.
So I think it can run... It needs a heck of a lot of work, but lack of devices seems to be thr big hurdle, and that other phones are coming cheap now...
The sd builds work pretty darn well if you ask me, I used one for awhile as my main OS and it did well considering!

go to the link i posted, , if you want an sd version, look in teh sd section, pick a rom, use it
if you want to install it to nand, go into the nand section, pick a rom, flash it.

You're really going to need to read/search a lot (and by a lot, I mean A LOT) to know how to use that .zip file, since you're having troubles downloading it.

At first, i have to repair my touch-sreen. But, can i install JB 4.1 if touchsreen doesn't work. Broken(

i wouldn't even think about android yet, then, because from watching this forum I'd say 3 in 10 touch screen repairs end up in a non working hd2. Get over that hurdle and then worry about flashing. Also, as mentioned in the last two posts, , no one is gonna tell you to 'click this, do that, select the other', you will just get flamed. So, fix the screen,. then read the guide in Nigeldgs post as advised.

I just found this ICS rom, and it seems as good as all others found here.
So far, it suffer from the same wifi battery problem. With wifi on, the battery last 7h 55m.
It has several languages installed, and I am using portuguese.

I tried so far, gps, bluetooth, wifi, and everything is working fine.
I am using it since yesterday and no reboot yet.

strange, must be a typo on my side. I don't use Karma right now, so I can't check anymore. Mainreason for not usig is I didn't like the icon-set. I had also a feeling that reconnecting is a bit slower than my aurora version.

Is this ROM ok for daily use?

1. I consider it stable for daily use. No reboots, no FC, everything is working (at my phone at least): wifi, mail, gps, etc.
2. Dunno how to find out.

Even with the translator is difficult to me to understand Turkish and information about this ROM is too low!
Is it possible without install the ROM know which one is the newest?
EDIT: The files inside the .zip in the ICS.zip (this one) are newest so i presume that this one is a new version! But i do not know if it is stab!le or not

it is only aurora with next launcher

It's aurora version 4 with a lot modification themes.

Sorry for the interruption. I cleaned up the thread and removed a lot of off topic posts. It is often permissible for there to be a little bit of off topic chatter in a Development thread, but there shouldn't be 2 pages of it.
